Jom rushes through the fray, ducking and dipping, ending up on the other side adjacent to both remaining Aldori. He slashes at Dura with his bastard sword and then jabs at Halren with the shortsword.

"Basag! Withdraw to Rickle!" Jom shouts as he draws a shortsword. Then, with a quick twist that starts with his legs, he spins swinging both swords at Thisnabel.

Jom rushes forward, past Catlyn, with his bastard sword in both hands. When he arrives next to Thisnabel, he grunts an apology as he slices. He continues the swing spin, dropping a hand from his sword, with a crouch and kicks at his opponent's feet.

Jom, having taken his time putting his clothes back on, is quickly unshirted once more and pointing to the scars around his shoulder. "These are from a massive, chameleon-lizard-thing that almost took off my arm. It nabbed me with it's tongue, yanked me next to it's cage, and bit down hard. I almost lost my arm!"

"I cut it's tongue off and it was madder than a chelaxian noble from Sargava...true story."

After a few more (very necessary) flexes, Jom begins putting his shirt and armor on once more.

Jom pulls on the rope, his muscles straining against the force of the other team.

At the emergence of the rope, Jom bursts into a wide grin. Without any other pretext, he unlaces his armor and takes off the shirt underneath. Jom's bare torso is that of an athlete. His near perfectly muscled body is marred by numerous scars, both large and small. The scars vary from burns to cuts to indentation from a spear or similar. Arrayed around one of his shoulders are a series of scars likely caused by a large creature having bitten down.

Seemingly proud of his form, Jom warms up his muscles in the moments prior to the beginning of the start.

Despite his best efforts, Jom can't seem to get a good grip on the rope.

"My name's Jom," Jom says with a decent bow. He then gives an amused smile, "I'm curious how fancy swordwork fares versus practicality."

Jom pauses for a moment before continuing, "Um, that came out more insulting than I meant it. The style I've developed focuses more on the winning than the how. I really am curious about your style."

Jom gives Marcus a smile and asks, "What are the rules of the dual? Anything we have to or can't do?"

Jom stutters awkwardly, D-did I say bald? I...uhh...meant to say bad. Yeah,..bad joke. Has anyone claimed the first bad joke?" He then gives a strained smile.

A couple minutes later, a stocky Andoran man of six feet opens the door to the office. He wears simple studded leather that looks to have seen much action. Poking out from his back, behind his head, is the haft of a hand and a half sword. At each of his sides is a shortsword and his hands are wrapped with brawlers wraps.

He shuts the door behind him with a flick of his wrist and flips his dark brown, neck length hair out of the way. "So," he says with a genial smile, "has anyone dibbs'ed the first bald joke?"

Jom takes a moment to assess and then rushes over be with reach of both rats. He slashes at one (pink) and kicks the other (purple)

"Not to be that guy," Jom speaks up from the back, "but, I remember part of the job being neutralizing threats." He shrugs, "I don't think just telling them about dangers is enough. That means doing something with that last danger lizard. Setting off or disabling that necromancy trap. Getting that powder exploded into our face."

"And, whatever happens to be in here." he says as he walks up and checks out the barrel.

Jom prys the crate door open, quickly surveys the inside and then turns to the group of naysayers behind him. "See? Noth-"

Jom's words are cut short as a camouflaged maw latches on to his shoulder, engulfing an arm. A "Waah!" and a clatter follows the arm engulfing development as the creature pulls Jom up against the bars of the cage. It reajusts its grip and bites down even more of Jom's body with a sickening squelch and crunch.

"Ugh..." is all Jom can muster as a massive amount of his life just left him.

With the little bit of strength he has left, he squirms away from the creature in the cage. This reveals that a tongue is stuck to Jom's side. With labored effort, Jom draws his bastard sword from his back and hacks at the tongue.

"Get ready!" he shouts and then begins prying.

Jom shrugs at Aayah, "Maybe it'll be straightforward, maybe it won't. I don't really care. I agreed to the job and I am good for my word, regardless of other people." He adds at the end, "And hey, if all goes well, maybe I'll stick around for more. Good people are hard to find...particularly when I'm hiding." He gives her a wink.

Jom then turns to the silent elf and shrugs again, "I don't know. I never really heard of that lodge. Is it in Nidal?"

Jom chuckles a little, "These are the Aspis, people. Imagine if you took the Pathfinder Society and corrupted them to be more malicious, greedy, and other nefarious traits. Well, more than they are now. Ya'know, the Aspis!" Jom pauses for a moment, turns to Aayah, and says simply, "I'm ready to go do some sketchy stuff!"

Jom is taken by surprise by the display and seems to struggle to find words. When he does his face is that of curiosity, "Wait...I mean I have to ask. What is it that you do? I'm not looking for the headline, but what is the body of your work?" he ends with a smirk.

Jom takes in a breath, tightens his grip on his sword, smiles, and then rushes into the cavern. With agility, he rushes toward the fallen duergar blue and swings down in a big chop.

Mission:
"...We’ve been setting up some barricades in Candlestone, blocking off several passageways. Our plan is to force the duergars into this cavern right here, forming a two-pronged assault to wipe those filthy slavers out before they can escape deeper into the Darklands. The second prong,” he gestures to your group, “is right here in front of me..."

"...The placement of barricades is nearly done, and we want you to meet us there through the fastest means necessary; once they realize our trap, we need to act quickly. This map’s incomplete, so feel free to depart from it if you find a faster route..."

Fun reminder about 2e mechanics!

Source Core Rulebook pg. 479 4.0
Choose an ally attempting a recurring skill check while exploring, such as climbing, or performing a different exploration tactic that requires a skill check (like Avoiding Notice). The ally must be at least an expert in that skill and must be willing to provide assistance. While Following the Expert, you match their tactic or attempt similar skill checks. Thanks to your ally’s assistance, you can add your level as a proficiency bonus to the associated skill check, even if you’re untrained. Additionally, you gain a circumstance bonus to your skill check based on your ally’s proficiency (+2 for expert, +3 for master, and +4 for legendary).

Mr.Graeyson is an expert in Acrobatics...so long as he is willing to assist

"Dangerous shamgerous!" Jom scoffs playfully. "Besides, we've got an angel with us. That means we can't die, right?" gesturing at Estes. He the turns fully to face Estes, "Speaking of, I'm so curious. Do you have to do any exercise to upkeep that?" he asks pointing at the angel's midsection. "'Cuz if not, that is totally unfair."
