I was just accepted into another PbP, so I will bow out. Good gaming, everyone.

Dotting. This character was in S&S game that made it almost to the end of the first book before the DM disappeared. I just pulled out of another S&S game that died from lack of participation after a few weeks.

I am going to withdraw from the game. Good gaming, everyone.

This game looks to have died on the vine.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

How far down is the cave from the top of the cliff?

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll's response is a simple affirmation by way of a "Hmmh" sound.

"Are the others joining us as well?"

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"It is too bad that the young have hatched, we might have had eggs otherwise."

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll examines the bodies of the slain creatures and asks the others "Any idea what these are, or were?"

I have a minute with web access. I am not sure about how the rest of the week will go.

I will withdraw my submission.

Have fun, all.

I am playing this character in a Serpent's Skull game that looks like it is about to die from lack of activity. This would be the second S&S game that happened to, for me.

In my prior game we reached as far as

Spoiler:
Under the lighthouse

However, I can separate player knowledge from character knowledge.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

[ooc}Connor, did you ever describe what we are fighting. I read through recent posts and must have missed it if you did.[/ooc]

Anybody home?

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll runs toward any remaining creature with his morningstar held in two hands. Once he is in reach, he swings for all his is worth.

Attack with charge action

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll follows closely behind Sasha, doing his best to mimic her quiet steps.

Stealth

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll had been taking mental notes of how Mordack went about examining the ground and surrounding plants to look for signs of activity and how he interpreted them. Clearly the dwarf knows jungles better than the inquisitor and his training was superior. In response to the ranger's question he says "Yes, I agree that would be the best. Please lead on."

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"If we head South then we should continue in a fairly straight line. That means we don't need to remember which way to turn when we return to this crossing."

Joll looks to Mordack to see what the ranger thinks. He watches as the ranger examines the ground and pays close attention to how he goes about it.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"None. Lead on" Joll replies.

For as long as Sasha leads them, the Inquisitor remains vigilant and watchful of the surroundings. Whenever possible, he checks behind him to note the disposition of the others. Then he turns back to follow the guide. Against all his training, he gives into human nature and spares a moment to focus on Sasha's backside before resuming his progress.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll stays close enough to Sasha to keep her in his line of sight and also be able to see the next in line. He makes a point to check on Ishirou every now and then without being obvious about it.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"I will go with the scouting party. After all that time aboard the ship it will be a welcome respite to move about freely."

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"Yes, that is a good point. I have spent time in jungles before, but they were different that this one, it seems."

"What about those crustacean that attacked us? Are they edible?"

Once the burial of the body (bodies) is finished, Joll examines the dead creatures.

Knowledge (nature)

Joll returns Asmodia's bow of the head and introduces himself. "My name is Joll rhymes with 'doll' of Corentyne, late of the harbormaster's office there.

When the get to digging, he lays his crossbow on the sand, near enough to grab it in a moment should he need to.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"As long as he is bound he can be kept from acting against us. He will be able to move, though. If he gives us reason to trust him then we can free his limbs."

"But, you are right; we need to find cover and shelter. But first, let's search for any other survivors or bodies of the dead. The former can aid us, possibly. The latter might have useful equipment. And we cannot leave the bodies out in the air. At the least, they will attract scavengers. And they might lead enemies to us."

I probably will not be able to post tomorrow. Please DMPC Joll as needed.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"This man is a prisoner. We are not empowered to turn him free of his shackles, much less declare him a free man. I have no knowledge of his case. Nor does the fact that he is a cleric sway me. There are malignant god who have clerics that serve them and there are corrupt clerics of benign deities as well."

"If he remains shackled then there is less chance of him working fell magic on any of us under the guise of healing. If any potential getaway is hindered then he is more likely to be truthful with us."

Joll turns to address the prisoner. "Why was Captain Kovac transporting you? Where where you tried?"

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll locates his armor and secondary weapons and equips himself once he has checked their condition. It takes him a few moments of digging in the sand to find his holy symbol of Asmodeus. Once he locates it he drapes it around his neck.

Joll speaks loudly enough for the others to hear "It appears that only we passengers are here. Obviously this was no chance event. It looks like the crew dumped us here for some reason that I cannot imagine. If it was to sell us into slavery then where are the erstwhile buyers? And why would our equipment be at hand. Perhaps this is some sort of game to someone.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll shakes his head to clear the fog and then looks at ground around him. He realizes that he has already retrieved his morningstar and that his is not a dream. When he sees Kevorin charge he decides to do the same, his weapon held in both hands.

Charging attack
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Damage if it hits
1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Initiative
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Joll looks down at the creature at his feet, curses loudly and pulls his feet back as quickly as he can. His head is still in a fog as he looks around wildly in an attempt to take in the conditions of his surroundings. For a moment he thinks that the others must be dead. It is only when he sees Inti moving that he thinks otherwise.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll nods appreciatively to the Captain for the wine. He drinks small sips of it between spoonfuls of soup in the hope that it will cleanse his palate of the latter. The last thing he remembers thinking is Is it growing dim in here?

Fort Save
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"We are quite a way from making call in port. Don't worry too much; eventually you will get used to the motion of the ship."

For a moment, Joll appears about to say something about the soup but forebears.

A dusky-skinned dwarf comes stumbling in from below decks, visibly shaken and flushed, clearly sea sick. Any more 'a this soup and I'll weigh less than that puny gnome. I've released enough ballast to cause us ta capsize, by Angradd! I NEED GOAT, LAMB, MEAT! He slowly makes his way to the captain's table, stumbling along the way, using whatever he can find for a hand hold, whether the backs and shoulders of those already seated, or the tables and benches, and sits down.

And the dwarven folk are known for their sturdy natures. Surely he is unused to the waves. That in combination with this Joll sniffs and notes the threat of Terillo's soup would be enough to undo anyone.

Joll sits wondering why the Captain has invited them to his table now, after so long at sea. Whenever someone enters or leaves the cabin he mentally notes it. Every few moment he runs through his mental list in order to keep it fresh in his mind.

The cook's announcement dims the light on an otherwise enjoyable evening. The prospect of another watery soup elicits a slight from Joll. But his training has instilled in him a resolve to bear unpleasant situations, although he notes that his trainers never had to endure Terillo's culinary insults.

Joll sighs imperceptibly and makes his way to the Captain's table.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll continues to engage Sasha in conversation. "Home for me was sleepy little Corentyne. Where do you hail from?"

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll makes his way toward Sasha to converse. "What will you do to entertain yourself once you are there?" he asks in a friendly manner. "Sitting about idly does not seem to suit you."

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Joll takes the opportunity to observe the crew going about their tasks and looking for anything suspicious, as is professionally habitual for him. If nothing of note catches his eye he will attempt to surreptitiously listen in on anything said within his hearing. And if the crew's talk does not provide anything of interest he will simply take in the breeze and the sun on this pleasant day.

When he sees Gelik he nods just enough to be courteous but not enough to indicate an interest in the gnome's tales. Long periods of enduring his tales have convinced Joll that there is nothing of substance to them. However, when he sees Sasha, he gives her gentlemanly acknowledgment and smile. One must always keep up appearances he thinks to himself. If she is close enough for conversation he will greet her in a friendly voice. "Hello, Lady Sasha. The sun and the sea are refreshing today, aren't they?"

Mordak, thanks for the heads-up that the game thread had started.

I will adjust Joll's stats to a 25 point buy. Considering the lot of miscreants that you have chosen, it will be necessary to have an officer of the law (torturer, actually) to see that that don't degenerate into a Pathfinder version of Lord of the Flies.

*crosses fingers that the DM will buy this tripe of an argument*

What kind of character do you already have? I played this character in a Serpent's Skull game until the DM disappeared. He was made with a 15 point-buy. Obviously, I would reduce him back to first level if he were picked.

I am going to bow out. Good gaming, everyone.

@ Joll: I have no formatting requirements. I tend to do my own bestiary style, but as long as I can read it I don't care. Further more, I can see that you plan on being quite popular with the natives. :)

As long as they bow down and recognize the superiority of the Chelish Empire then things will be fine.

I played this character in a Serpent's Skull game that got through part of the first book before the DM disappeared. He is third level right now and was made with a 15 point build. If selected, I would adjust him in regard to level, equipment and abilities.

Also, do you want the character stat blocks to be formatted in a particular way? Several DMs require them to follow the format used for bestiary entries.

In case you are wondering, we got as far as

Spoiler:
The nice folks under the lighthouse.

This is a character I played in a Serpent's Skull that died when the DM disappeared. He is third level now, but I can easily adjust him back to level one.

We had gone as far as

Spoiler:
Dealing with the things under the lighthouse.

I can post once a day on weekdays, usually once or more on weekends.

Gah! This one was fun and it was going so well in terms of activity.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Since we don't have anyone named "Mohammed" in the group, I guess we will have to go the mountain.

For all his flaws, Jack has been a valuable ally. That is true even if such was never his intent. Joll considers asking to use Jack's bow for the journey but decides against it. It would be better for the rogue to aspire to using it when he recovers. Whether there is reason for such optimism is unknown to Joll.

Joll gathers his few things and indicates that he is ready to travel.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Settling down in the most comfortable spot that he can find, Joll addresses the others. "Few ships come here, so the weapon is probably not solely for defense. Ieana might want to move it elsewhere if she can. If that is the case, then she and her presumptive allies could disrupt shipping in this part of the ocean. That would probably be the vanguard of some attempt to attack the human lands that border it."

"If she were on her own then this would not be a viable plan. Therefore, she must have allies of some sort. It is unlikely that she is the only one of her kind. I expect that we will run into other serpent-folk when we get to the Red Mountain."

In other words, "Bump".

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

"Yes, let's get moving to somewhere that gives us cover."

We already took anything useful out of the lighthouse, correct?

"We need cover, or at least concealment. She might now that we escaped from the tunnels."

Joll pauses from looking around for suitable candidates and hurridly asks "Quinta, did the writing describe the weapon in any way, what form it takes?"

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Snakes, everywhere there were snakes. Why would they construct such a temple underground on this remote island? What does Ieana intend here and how does she plan to leave once she has done it?

Joll defers to Quinta's place as story-teller and looks for water to wash himself with.

Recruiting after this module ends would be better. It would also be easier than putting things on hold until we get someone new and it alleviates the need for some contrived explanation as to how the new player got on the island.

"I feel strong in my limbs but have little magic left."
Joll has one first level spell and cantrips available. Other than that he is a sub-par fighter.

M Human Inquisitor 1 HP 14/14 | AC 14 FF 13 Touch 11 | Saves +4/+1/+5 | Init + 1 | Percep +6

Farewell, Jack and best of luck with medical school. It was a pleasure playing alongside you.

"Well done Dragolan, Alexite, Quinta. Now let's get to ground level and check on the others."
