Jinyi continues his performance, but lowers his bow, not wanting to bother with Yabin in such close range. Instead, he focuses on the lizardfolk, attempting to read his weaknesses as he did with Ji-Yook. As he finishes studying him, Jinyi's mouth twitches upwards in a wry smirk.
The smirk doesn't last long, though, as he tries to shoot out a barbed quip, and stumbles over his words, the quick transition from song to speech tangling his tongue. He looks mortified.
Ah, sorry about that, I was hoping I'd get time to post before it was too late today, but obviously not. But, my final exam was today, so my schedule is opened back up and I can get back to quick posting as of today. Thanks for being patient, guys!
Jinyi tries to continue his song, but Yabin's spell takes hold of him and his tongue becomes tied in his mouth, and all that comes of the attempt is a string of confused babble. It doesn't last long, though, and he shakes his head, shaking it off. As he comes back to himself, he raises his voice again, more confident almost out of spite. He works what he'd learned about Ji-Yook into his lyrics, advising his team that, should they target her, her body's fortitude will be the easiest route. With that, he raises his bow, taking aim at Yabin.
Jinyi had drawn a shortbow and nocked an arrow during the battle preparations, but he makes no motion to shoot, at least not yet, though he starts to move along the dock's edge closer to where he imagines the conflict will start. Instead, he focuses his attention on Ji-Yook, paying attention to every detail he can manage and trying to put it together into a more complete image of her abilities. Then, he begins singing, a song in a confident tenor that the others would find lifting their spirits and bolstering their abilities.

I've already told GM this, but as a head's up, I am coming up on the end of culinary school, and I'm going to be pretty caught up in finals and preparation until Jan 14th or so. I'm still gonna be trying to keep on top of these threads and stay active, but I might get sporadic, especially in that last week. Sorry about this, and please feel free to bot Jinyi if I'm ever totally unable to keep up!
Jinyi sighs, before linking his hands and stretching them up high over his head, as if to wake his body up. "I suppose there's no harm in it."
Jinyi bows as the introductions seem to pass on to him. He's remained quiet, watching the proceedings, clearly a bit out of his element now that they've so completely left the streets of Goka. "Jinyi Zan, at your service. These terms seem fair."
Jinyi passes the trip uneventfully, knowing better than to try his hand at working, and never joining in any card games on deck, though he does watch the proceedings with rapt interest. What he does do, though, is offer music to help ease the passage of time, either by singing or summoning a flute. The music stops as Khorde gets their attention to point out their approach to Bonmu, and Jinyi moves to the ship's railing to watch their approach. His fingers drum on the railing, though whether in anticipation or in anxiety, it's unclear.
Jinyi nods his head as Yabin answers, the smile remaining on his face. He's amused by the response, answering the question on the face of things, and yet deftly avoiding any real information that might be given in his reply. "For whatever reason we all find ourselves here, I'm sure it will be a fascinating story. I look forward to seeing how it moves forward." The Tiefling's orange eyes linger on Yabin for just a few seconds longer after Khorde approaches the group, before turning his full attention to the conversation at hand. "If Lady Zhilan would rather take the other spot in your room, Daraj, it's hers to take. But I'll join you if she would rather another option."
Jinyi is immediately interested in Ji-Yook, and stays near enough to her and Zhilan that he can try to keep an ear to their conversation, but he doesn't join in. Instead, he turns his attention to Yabin the Just, keeping that same smile on his face. "I've heard your name before, I think, but I'm surprised to see you here. A tournament doesn't seem the most likely place for a negotiator."
Jinyi bows as Zathra reaches him in her introductions, adding a mumbled "A pleasure to meet you." He makes a cursory effort to hide his displeasure at the captain's double-booking, but the effort is minimal, and he's glad to have to opportunity to change course and direct his attention to the competing team.
And direct his attention to them, he does. It's like a switch is flipped as he turns from the captain to the other team, a charming smile forming on his face. He wracks his mind, trying to place any of their names as he approaches. "How nice it is to get a chance to meet another team before we arrive! Have you all traveled far?"
Ooh, now I've gotta think of something for that extra Lore skill. Probably going to go with fortune-telling. Jinyi will also stick towards the middle of the group.
It's hard to hide the amusement playing on Jinyi's face, and constantly harder as the puns continue, each one bringing his expression further from an easily-hidden smirk until he breaks into laughter. He pulls himself together, clearing his throat and straightening up, ready to go. "Careful, now. I hear a lack of humor can be bad for your health." He looks to his companions. "Shall we?"
Jinyi reaches across the table with a long, thin arm almost as soon as the tray of pastries hits it before returning to the slouching position he had been in. He doesn't think to thank Daraj for them until he's already taken two bites, and when he does manage to remember it, the words are muffled by the food in his mouth. Even slouching, the Tiefling is clearly tall and lanky, elven in proportion and approaching six and a half feet in height. He dresses in fairly plain clothes, all in varying shades of blue and black, matching his deep blue-purple skin. A single curving horn grows from the left side of his forehead, parting black hair that would be sleek had it had any attention paid to it at all, but is instead just pulled into a haphazard ponytail. His eyes are orange, bright in contrast to all of his blue, and you've get to see them look much but tired. Even now, with all the mounting excitement before the tournament, he has shadows beneath his eyes, but the lazy expression he's kept for most of the week is missing now. A long-time resident of Goka, Jinyi has been treating this week as more of a vacation than anything, more than happy to lean on their Patron's generosity to keep his cup and his belly full. He's only agreed to join any training or combat practice if the others insisted on it, and every time he dragged his feet, but now that he knows the ship to the tournament is so soon, there's an air of impatience about him. Even tired, even hung over, as soon as the letter announcing their imminent departure came in, he has been ready to leave.

I'm still picking up equipment, so I haven't filled out the AC on the status line or a full statblock on the profile just yet, but I can have that done by the end of tomorrow at the latest.
