I had a few ideas similar to the proposed "spell locked in caster level you gained it at". But really evocation spells are not what anybody's worried about, it's debuffs and game changing utilities.

One idea was that like a defense bonus, every character gain spell resistance. With martial characters having the highest, and spellcasters having the lowest. (Alternatively just giving the martial classes the multiple saving throws and gimping clerics/druids.)

Another was a grittier combat system where damage is dealt to a stat, not HP. So say a bastard sword deals 1d10 dexterity damage. This was to be combined with the "locked in caster level" for spells. Granted spamming a 1d6 dex damage touch attack still is most often better. But martial characters had a slight advantage because feats and things could stack where spells could not. So a weapon specializing fighter's +2 damage seems pathetic normally, but when it involves attribute damage... that can mean the difference between life and death.

Obviously tome of battle sort of stuff would be completely out. Those maneuvers would stack onto weapons for instant-kills. May as well just say fighter's start off with a save-or-die function to their attacks and the saving throw DC increases with level.

I actually made a kit like that for AD&D... It didn't go over so well.

From my heart and from my head... why don't people understand, my homebrew?

The amount of hooks, and deterrents to this outcome that were present, were huge and plentiful. This was not meant to happen.

I authentically think the paladin is a bro. Not being a try hard good guy and actually gets things done. (They should've poisoned the water supply or sent them a Loony Toons style bomb in a Trojan horse.)

But not only the genocide... but the fact is totally ruined all of the DM's plans. That's the way it should be lol.

Anti-Paladin/Sorcerer.

Key stat synergy.
Anti-Paladin gives sorcerer a bump for fortitude save, hit dice, and full BaB.

But what I'm most thinking is the debuff potential... Anti-paladin's abilities incorporated with sorcerer's spell list will wipe out any foe without having to worry about their saving throws making the cut.

What would be more hilarious is if you use say, some minor spell to mask a creature's alignment to good, than that allows you to use smite good upon them... LOLLOLOL.

Lingering Pain converts damage from a sword blow to continuing damage, forcing constant concentration checks.

That's a good idea.

I guess it really depends on how the DM interprets casters generally. Lots of charms, candle light vigils, and ritual daggers? Sunder all day, every day.

Somatic hand gestures? Trips and grapples.

Lots of verbal incantations? Hilarious use of intimidate check to talk over the caster with obscenities, and whatever the slur is for elves/dwarves/whatever.

In fact, this should be a whole campaign type where players are all martial based guys whose Jimmies are royally rustled at the thought of spellcasters. They have philosophical discussions on the strategies to best nullify these "game breakers". I'd be tempted to play an alchemist to poison spam, but honestly if a caster has half the intelligence his sheet puts down, he'd know to come prepared if not pre-cast saving throw buffs to patch up one of his very few weaknesses.

I doubt you'll notice a huge change. It'll just give some flexibility to the martial classes. I've been thinking about this myself as well as some scaling feats.

Wouldn't it just be easier to outright ignore stat perquisites for feats? That's something I've proposed since 3.5 was relevant.

Stats should only be relevant if they incorporate some sort of ability function. Or at the very least the feat should be REALLY good if it expects just a random high stat to use it. I'm talking true strike the feat good.
