Understood and no hard feelings. I really enjoyed this game while it lasted =)

Hope I get to bump into you guys again around the boards!

Pilot: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18 urk! used up my mojo with jumping that chasm it seems!
If I can add a Force Point...: 1d6 ⇒ 3

"Whoa!" Jeriko jukes suddenly to avoid the sudden presence of a fighter overhead. He keeps the accelerator fully engaged as the speeder screams through the open canyon, a spikey vertical trail of dust and pebbles chasing behind the fast moving vehicle.

retired

Jeriko cracks a cocky smile and turns around to boast to Desh, only to find the repeater unmanned. Turning back around he's surprised to see a Feeorin's head rather than a Sith's poking up over the grill. "Desh? Screamin' poodoo, Desh, what are you doing up there? Kriffing Mandalorians, thinking they're too good for harnesses. Jerrn! Juce! Can either of you help Desh back into the speeder?"

Camris:
Oh I'm totally doing it! DESTIIIIIIIIINY POOOOOOOOIIIIIIIINT!

Can I use a destiny point? This feels suitably death-star-trench-run-esque for me to want to use a destiny point on this pilot check =)

Camris:

Understood. In light of that, I'll pass on shooting, jink for the pad, and hope I shake this fool off the speeder! =P

Sneering at the sith stabbing him but keeping his eyes fixed ahead, Jeriko banks sharply and glides in over the accelerator pad. Just prior to passing over the pad, he recites in a mock, nasally tone, "Please keep all hands, feet, tentatcles, and other assorted appendages inside the speeder at all times. Pilots will not be held responsible for passengers not secured with a safety harness." He winks at the Sith next to him as the speeder glides over the accelerator pad...

Am I making a piloting check either way? One to hit the pad or one to make the jump? Presuming I make the jump with the pad, I'm guessing there's then another pilot check to keep from spinning out of control on the other side?

Can I shoot at the goon stabbing me and make a piloting check to hit the pad, or is this a one-or-the-other kind of scenario?

"Think you can make unsteady work, Desh?! And you other banthas can feel free to get this kriffing sith off me!"

Pilot: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

Pilot: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
Is that a standard action for this round?
"Deeeesh! That fighter's coming back around! Juce... Jerrn... feel free to ditch these bantha-loving stowaways any time now!"

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Distracted by the sudden appearance of a stealth trooper on the hood of the speeder, Jeriko doesn't pay much heed to anything else other than the deadly arc of the figure's vibroblade. Quick as a flash, he draws Angeline from her holster and snaps off a quick burst of fire at his daring attacker as he tries to maintain control over the vehicle.

Angeline(p-blank, rapid shot): 1d20 + 4 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 27for: 4d8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (3, 6, 8, 2) + 1 + 3 = 23
Crit for another!: 4d8 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (7, 4, 6, 8) + 1 + 3 = 29 Total: 52

Perception vs DC20 check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
"Deeeeeesh! DESH! Quit shooting the nice rocks and point that thing over there!" Jeriko jabs one hand over to the port side of the speeder, while still deftly piloting the craft with the other. "No... too high. It's right there. There! Don't you see that?! That shimmer? To your right a bit you blind bantha! Yes! THAT! Shoot THAT!"

Perception vs DC15 check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
"Aaaaand if that wasn't enough fun, we've got a fighter coming in hot too!" Jeriko sits up a bit then, turns around and briefly looks at each of his companions in the speeder then cooly remarks, "Boy, you bunch of mynocks sure know how to show a guy a good time." His face breaks into a devilish grin as he spins back around to race for the rift valley up ahead.

How far back are the dust trails? Presuming they're being produced by cloaked speeders, is there any upcoming terrain where I might try to force one or both into crashing into the terrain by intentionally kicking up a huge dust cloud to obscure their vision? Or is this looking like a straight up balls-to-the-walls racing sprint to the finish?

"You good for nothing bantha-licking sleemos! I was in a courtyard FULL OF SITH and all I got out of the two of you was 'nope, the scanner's clear'. Have you EVER used an instrument panel before?!"

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Jeriko cuts himself off, cocking his head slightly.

"Hold on. I think we're being followed." A devilish grin spreads across his face as he looks to Juce in the adjacent seat. "This is when things get FUN!" He slams the accelerator down into the red and the speeder surges forward with a gut-churning jolt.

"Mandalorian? Not any more it's not! A trio of Mandos crashed the party a few minutes before the Sith showed up. I didn't get a chance to thank them for bringing us such a nice getaway vehicle." He shrugs, one of his lekku twitching and curling slightly, then grins. "Strap in! Time to take this baby through her paces!"

retired

Jeriko nods admirably as Juce rockets up the wall face. He elbows Desh and indicates Juce with a nod of his head and thrust of his chin, "Guess someone's been watching me. The little tyke's picked up a few tricks!"

He then settles back into the pilot's seat and fires the speeder's thrusters back to life. He's rewarded with an almost predatory hum from the engine and he smiles as he pats the dash. "Don't worry, sweetie. I'll take much better care of you."

retired

"No... No, that's ok! You guys take your time up there! I didn't just have to single-handedly fight off a trio of Mandolorians and then a troop of Sith Assassins to save you sorry nerf-herders! I'll.. uhh... I'll just wait right here then. Until you're good and ready. Not like we're being chased by an army of Sith or anything. No, it's ok! Yeah! I'll just wait!"

Camris:
I am super rusty on piloting rules... is it just my pilot skill check without anything else factored in or are there bonuses/penalties based on the stats of the vehicle?

Also, did I need to use a force point or destiny point to get the speeder going?

Courtyard:

As the overwhelming number of Sith assassins skid to a halt and look at Jeriko, the twi'lek slowly begins to take a few steps backward. He offers charmingly, "Heh heh, you know boys, I'm sure this is just a big misunderstanding that we're all going to laugh about some day down the -" He bolts then to the Mandalorian's speeder, running up the hood and then slinging into the pilot's seat. Rapdily muttering "Come on... come on," he taps the last few commands of the factory reset into the console unit and with bated breath keys the ignition switch as he smiles and waves at the Sith.

Will burn a Force or Destiny point if necessary to fire this bad boy up for a grand getaway!

No sweat, Desh. At the least, Camris will probably need to DMPC Jerrn for this round. Jerrn mentioned in another pbp we're in that he's away on vacation with no internet until 3/16.

Anyone heard from Six?

Camris, would you like me to hold off on posting until the others have a chance to resolve their turns down below?

Courtyard Bruhaha:

Seeing Baniss make his escape, then seeing one of the two remaining Sith decloak as he's bowled over by the fleeing doctor, Jeriko smirks. In a flash, he rolls forward onto his feet and thumbs his jetpack to life again, propelling him in a great leap over the speeder in front of him. He lands, skids a half meter in the gravel, and then the scream of a blaster bolt echoes through the air as he takes a shot at the prone Sith.

Using that sweet force point I just got since I think the target gets a +4 to his reflex defense for being prone
If it's pointblank, add another +1 to hit and +1 damage
Angeline(rapid shot, force point): 1d20 + 4 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 3 + 1 - 2 + (2) = 21for: 4d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 8, 5) + 3 = 21

"Awww, Baniss! Things were just starting to get interesting!"

Point Blank counts w/ thrown weapons, but there's no 5-foot step/3-meter step. Moving any amount provokes AoO's in SWSE.

"Ow! Kriffing Hutt-humping, Sith! That hurt!" Jeriko curses loudly from beneath the speeder before answering Bolt's suggestion, "Get out?! This is just starting to get fun, furball!" He thumbs his jetpack to life for a moment, not to gain lift, but to propel him out from underneath the speeder. He suddenly pops out from beneath and behind the heavily armed vehicle and slides along the gravel for several meters before coming to a stop. As he rockets along on his back, he levels Angeline toward one of his attackers, but holds off on squeezing the trigger until he can see them.

I saw the posts yesterday and meant to respond but got caught up doing my taxes (when did I turn into this responsible adult?!) and forgot to update. Out in the Courtyard:

"Bolt!" Jeriko hisses over the coms, "Bolt! You miserable paw-licker, check your scans again! I'm looking at a bunch of Sith in the courtyard here and I don't think they brought cookies for the after-race bake sale."

He shrugs then, realizing he's going to be on his own for a while. From the cover of the speeder, he slides Angeline from her holster, takes aim, and snaps off a quick but precise shot at the nearest stealth trooper. I've had a lot of problems with flickr too, where it won't let me or others zoom in at all. I've had a lot smoother experience sharing maps through google than anything else. Might be worth considering if photobucket's got you down.

You're just making the maps in a spreadsheet, right? In Google Drive, there'd be no need to upload them as jpegs, you can just share the actual spreadsheet and possibly restrict editting if you don't want anyone else mucking about with it.

Meanwhile, back outside....

Jeriko remains hidden beneath the mandos' speeder as he tries to remain unnoticed by whoever or whatever froze everyone else around him.

I hate this planet. I hate this planet. I hate this planet. I hate this planet.

retired

Spoiler:

"What? Not them! Me! What do the sensors show around *me*, you nerf-herders? I can hear figures crunching in the gravel around me but can't see a kriffing thing except a bunch of creepily frozen people. Whatever's here may have some personal cloaking devices or something."

retired

Jeriko holds his breath, waiting for another crunch of gravel to betray whatever might be nearby.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 I'll risk a second roll; if a 13 didn't do the job last time, why not try?
Perception reroll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

If he doesn't sense anything, he'll hazard a harshly whispered message to Baniss and Bolt.

Spoiler:

"Baniss! Bolt! I've lost comms with the team inside Motta's and there is some weird freaky-deaky stuff going on out here. Anything coming up on your sensors? Everyone out here is frozen stiff, like they're all in stasis."

retired

Plan? I dunno about you guys, but my plan is simple.

1) Steal this sweet military speeder.

2) Prepare other, less sweet speeders for you fools to also escape in.

3) Laugh at mandos when they come out of Motta's and find a chassis w/ no engine sitting where the sweet military speeder they used to own had been parked.

4) Laugh more.

5) Escape onto the Second Chance by the skin of our teeth after a glorious high speed chase/gun fight.

retired

As Jeriko casually slides back out from under the speeder and back into the vehicle to finish his work, he takes a moment to try and see why nobody's working...

As he does so, he quietly says over the comms, "Mandos are inbound again. Thanks for the heads up they were coming back down, by the way."

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 edit: ehhhh... I'll risk a reroll
Perception (reroll): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 double edit: yay!

retired

Camris:

Just one of the Mandos leaves? The other stays put by the speeder?

retired

FOUR 19's, one 18, two 15's, two 2's, and a 1? Sheesh! Do we have a bi-polar dicebot? =P

retired

Well now, isn't this fun, Jer? Sure it is! Stealing from a Hutt and fleeing the Exchange, and in the middle of all that spontaneously ripping off a pair of heavily armored Mandos who crashed the party? Say what you want about this backwater dustball, you never had fun like this back on Manaan.

He cocks his head slightly as he listens to the comm clicks from Desh.

... Did that mean they've been made or that things are proceeding as planned? Either way, I'm stuck under a speeder surrounded by Team Ugly Boots, so it does me little good.

retired

I feel now the same way I felt whenever an episode of 24 would come to an end back during its first season. The paneled view, a ticking clock, and a brutal cliff-hanger. Loving it.

retired

I kinda don't want to post for like a week after that dramatic commerical break. Such suspense!

retired

Oh man! This may be the greatest pbp in all of Ever!

retired

I sincerely hope that the speeders and I are not in the Courtyard.

retired

Jeriko grins outwardly at Juce's decision then whispers into the comm, "Does anyone have eyes on them? It'd be slightly awkward if they were to step out of the turbolift just as I was starting to work."

Once he gets confirmation that the Mandalorian pair are occupied, Jeriko slides easily into the pilot's seat and begins to work on the security device. A spark of recollection lights his eyes as he recalls seeing the same model device in a senator's speeder back when he and his mother were on Manaan. Precisely recalling the override equation she used to bypass the system, he checks the serial number of the device, runs a few quick calculations, and then inputs the factory override code...

Will totally use a Destiny Point here. So awesome.

retired

Jeriko's current plan:

  • Spend Destiny Point to bypass security in military speeder.
  • Position military speeder and other speeders at the predetermined location for full party escape.
  • Leave a sloppy, beat-up, junky looking speeder (if available, one lacking an engine) with a note on the steering console right where the Mandalorians parked their military grade one.

  • retired

Camris, would you allow me to burn a Destiny Point to slice the security in the military speeder?

    retired

A slight air of mischief in his voice, Jeriko calmly replies over the comm, "So would you like me to blow up his heavily armed speeder or should we just steal it?"

    retired

I'm pretty sure I have the coolest role, actually. But nice try in trying to make yours sound cooler =P

    retired

Camris, what do you think about Destiny Points and Skill checks? Could I use a Destiny Point as if rolling a Natural 20 on the Mechanics checks to bypass this sweet speeder's security lock? (Because a Natural 20 is the minimum I'd need to succeed =P)

If not, could I take 20 in trying to bypass it? I'm presuming we have more than 2 minutes at this point before Juce starts exploding things and the poodoo hits the vaporator.

    retired

Oh! I just had a thought!

Jerrn, with our 10 days of down time, might you have used them to create your own personal lightsaber from scratch? If so, your new saber could be attached to Desh's blaster and your old one turned in to Motta as part of our ruse.
