![]() The Launch Trap ability specifically says you may attach a trap to an arrow as part of the full round action to create a trap. As per the APG: "Ranger traps are either extraordinary or supernatural; extraordinary traps are Type: mechanical, and supernatural traps are Type: magic. Some of the traps listed below may be set as extraordinary traps or as magical (supernatural) traps; learning such a trap lets a ranger set it either way. An extraordinary trap has a –2 penalty to its DC. An extraordinary trap lasts 1 day per ranger level or until it is triggered, whichever comes first. A magical trap lasts only 1 hour per level or until triggered, whichever comes first." I would allow the use of a "charged-trap" arrow in my game. However, I would make a caveat of one trap arrow prepared at a time. It would prevent "cheesing" the ability as well as making sense (why would you place an active trap/magic ability on an arrow and then put it into a quiver with other arrows where it could easily be set off?). ![]()

![]() I would like to throw my name into the hat! I enjoy eastern themed games and I have been wanting to play this AP since it was released. I have read the submissions other people have made and they all seem like they would be fun to RPG with. Here's hoping for selection!!! XD Character’s Name and a description of what they look like. Spoiler:
Elorick "Ellie" Barley - A pale half-elven male with dark green hair, so dark its almost black, and bright green eyes. He keeps himself clean shaven and wears scale mail emblazoned with the sigil of Ozreh. He stands just shy of 5'10'' and weighs 201 lbs of muscle. His left leg was born disfigured and he walks with a bit of difficulty. He wears thick leather boots and a dark green cloak hangs down his black. A brief paragraph of their history, where they came from, and what their motivation may be. Spoiler:
Ellie was born in Sandpoint to an Elven woman who left him at the foot of the local cathedral. Both the visions he receives of some far off jungle and his crippling leg defect have made his life more difficult than he likes to admit. Constantly teased and ridiculed by the local children, Ellie developed a defensive anger. Lashing out at those who mocked him, he quickly gained a reputation as a fierce brawler. With a limp. He trained with the clerics of the temple, learning the tenets of the faith of Gozreh. But his visions told him to prepare for a journey where fighting would be required; he turned to the local militia for training. There he discovered Shalelu for the first time and fell instantly in love. A quick study, Ellie is learning to wear sturdier armor to protect his weakened leg. Additionally, he is learning to more fully control his fighting fury. Currently serving as a patrolling medic, Ellie looks forward to the days when his visions will be fulfilled and his prowess might gain him Shalelu's attentions. A brief summary of their class, including ability scores, skills, feats, spells, special abilities. Spoiler:

I intend to take levels of Barbarian and, eventually, to become a Rage Prophet. The idea behind this character is to focus on buffs and then go in for the kill. He will be heavily armored and, eventually, cast higher level magic that can assist the entire party. How often you can post (at least once per day frequency is preferred). Spoiler:
I can post a few times a day, most likely more often than that. P.S. - Good luck to all applicants! If I don't get selected, no hard feelings! Play your heart out! :D ![]()

![]() I'd like to throw my name into the hat. I'd like to create a Human Summoner named Jekara. He has an Eidolon with the following stats: Biped Base Form, Unnatural Aura, Undead Appearance. I would like to give him the Reactionary and Unhappy Childhood[Tortured] traits. He was kidnapped as a child, stolen into slavery. Abused for years, he nevertheless developed a loving relationship with a half-elven woman, Jessira. Shortly after his 23rd birthday, he was forced to witness the brutal rape and murder of his love. Broken inside, an unknown power surged forth and an otherworldly Jessira tore into the world. A spitting image of his love, including the wounds that killed her, Jessira turned her violent attentions to the man who brutalized her. Jekara watched as his love destroyed his master, making him a free man for the first time in his life. His joy, however, turned slowly into sadness as he realized that although this was indeed Jessira, she was a slave to his will. Desperate for a way to end her enslavement, Jekara has traveled to many cities and seen many wizards and priests. His journey has brought him now to this new city and a man associated to his dead master, Gaedran Lamm. This man may know magical lords who might be able to help him end the enslavement of his love; Gaedran will help or die trying! ![]()

![]() Not exactly sure how to do the whole Beginner Box thing (my group is a little more experienced)...but the hook sounds interesting. Alternatively, you can try the Skulls & Shackles AP for a pirate-ish adventure. My group was good aligned, so they became vigilantes more than pirates. It was fun though. ![]()

![]() I have created a homebrewed engineer class that I would like to post and get some feedback on. However, I don't know the legal mumbo-jumbo on what I can cannot post. For example, I have pictures in the document; do I have to find and list the artist? Also, the class is based on Paizo's stuff. Do I have to put the OGL remarks at the end of the document? And if so, do I have to put all the books I used (CRB, APG, UM, UC)? Also, I saw and used some ideas that I saw on the forums as well. How would I credit these ideas? ![]()
![]() The GM is in on our characters, and he says hes got something in store to prevent us from being killed outright from the NPC's, like we accidentally save the town or something (thats still being worked on). And yeah, Grumgosh is a figment of their imagination. Grumgosh is kinda an ongoing joke in our group. Long story short, insane orc set on destruction named Grumgosh liked to scream his name in third person...so the group(naturally) has taken to "Grumgosh smash!" or "Grumgosh destroy!" Also, I think it'll be interesting because one of the normal PC's might have the name of Grumgosh....Anklebiter and Kneeknocker will follow around the physical manifestation of their god whether he likes it or not.... ![]()
![]() So my friend and I are making goblin characters. And we are having a blast. Please note that the other characters will have no idea what we're playing until the game actually starts and our characters are introduced, probably eating something we shouldn't be. I'm building a goblin rogue and he is building a goblin barbarian. We both worship our made up god, Grumgosh who has a pet kitty named Zurg. The god isn't really in the world, which makes it that much more fun! The barbarian, Anklebiter, fancies himself a cleric and will run leaping head first (literally) into combat to latch onto people with his bite attack, in Grumgosh's name of course. He'll be constantly eating disgusting things especially dogs because they're unholy, chewing on one of the party member's boots and going into rage for any situation which calls for "panic," i.e. blind, dazzled, confusion, set on fire, not really set on fire but thinks he is, etc. etc. (fairy fire - "I'm on fire! When I'm on fire, I PANIC! When I panic, I RAAAAAAAAAGE!!!" *begins running around attacking without regard for himself*) One of his catch phrases will be, "Cuz Grumgosh wills!" The rogue, Kneeknocker, will be forever hiding from everyone, cuz he can. He may go into the witch class or summoner or something to get arcane spells and a pet (probably a kitty cuz they're holy). He doesn't use bladed weapons, "Cuz they're sharp and I hurts myself." He will also meow occasionally and get the ventriloquism spell to seem like he's somewhere else. He will dual wield a heavy mace and a light mace and will wait for Anklebiter to grapple before attacking so they will "Let my brover go! GRUMGOSH WILLS IT!". Or he will yell "SNEAK ATTACK!" during the second round when attacking an enemy by himself. They also constantly fight over who's the better cleric of Grumgosh. I want to open this up to the community (my DM and player base doesn't read the forums) to help us with other suggestions for roleplaying quirks and all kinds of fun to be had. ![]()
![]() I am playing a game with some friends of mine (duh), and I have a vl. 5 female CG Human Sorcerer(ess) with 20 Cha and the undead heritage. She is the descendant of a strong Mage, one who descended into desperation after learning of an inescapable illness. Turning to lichdom as the means to survive, he began the process to prolong his life. Prior to the completion of this foul deed, he conceived a child only to pass before he could complete the ritual. Affected in the womb, Jekara became infused with strong necromantic energies. Growing up ashamed of her abilities, she set out to prove her value to herself, and maybe to society . We have a couple of house rules, (we allow parts of the 3.5e Necromnomicon, the Fell Weaken metamagic feat which is usable 1/day in our campaign and gives a subject -4 Str DMG). Her main focus, in direct contrast with the party Cleric, is to drop the abilities of enemies. She has the Weapon Focus (ranged touch attack) feat, the Reach Spell metamagic feat, Fell Weaken metamagic feat, and Improved Initiative. The cleric has the domain ability that allows a party member (me) to roll initiative twice and pick the better roll ensures I have the maximum chance to decimate enemy strengths. Beginning the combat with either Ray of Enfeeblement or Touch of Gracelessness (Reach Spell) to hurt the primary physical-type baddy. Following that is a Chill Touch cast on the Monk, enabling a chance for Strength damage with every hit until the spell ends. Blindness-Deafness follows, usually blindness. If the main baddy is a caster, a Touch of Idiocy (Reach Spell) is the first attempt. Blindness-Deafness (Deafness) usually follows and often enables the caster to be effectively eliminated as a threat. If there is a melee-type and a caster...the caster usually is the first target. In order to maximize effectiveness, the melee-type is affected by Magic Missile (Fell Weaken). ![]()
![]() They do, but they are generally in line with the basic concept of that class. A Druid 10/Assassin 10 that cannot be flanked, has Improved Uncanny Dodge, and Angel of Death (causing an enemy's body to crumble into dust) doesn't quite fit the mold of nature's servant. To me, the adding of abilities that don't fit the mold are interesting. ![]()
![]() Thanks for the links. :D I like the Archetypes because they add new flavor to the various classes. However, I like prestige classes because they add entirely new abilities and tactics to a character. For example, I will never forget my Druid/Assassin. It actually worked out really well, becoming one of my favorite characters I have ever played. I do understand the lack of prestige classes, or the downplay of them that Paizo has done. 3.5 made the basic classes obsolete with the massive bonuses granted from prestige classes, as well as the abilities granted from the prestige classes outperforming many, if not all, of the abilities from the core classes. Add to that the massive number of prestige classes from 3.5 and it became a quick problem. I would like to see maybe one or two prestige classes in each major book, simply because the new ideas and classes help keep the game fresh. But keep the archetypes coming, I like my two-handed ranger! |
