F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
My continued apologies for my lack of posting. I've been rather sick these past 5 weeks and I'm still not 100%. Add work and family and my plate is overloaded. Weekend is going to be busy with Mother's Day activities and birthdays. I'll try and make a post at some point over the weekend. Thank you for your patience. Happy Mother's Day for Sunday.

Know. Religion (DC 11): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28 Damn these troublesome haunts, she thought to herself. She nodded upon Imperia's discernment of the situation. Jayla had used her only flask of holy water earlier in the day and so she looked to Khardan as well. She whispered to the Half-orc, "I have no holy water left, I'm afraid."
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
As Vesorianna cried out in pain and spoke of The Splatter Man, Jayla looked to her companions who were quick to react and want to search out the dungeons. She followed the others in their search of Harrowstone's dungeons, keeping her eyes and ears open for any notable sights or sounds. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Jayla had listened as the other spoke with Vesorianna Hawkran, paying attention to her words without interrupting her. Lirin had remained silent but alert within the tendrils of Jayla's hair. "If you can provide us with knowledge of how to rid this place of the foul four, we would be most grateful," adding to what Khardan has just said. "Once the four are dispatched for good, what will become of you, Mistress Hawkran?" Jayla's voice was low, almost a whisper inside the chamber; curious about Vesorianna's own fate.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
My apologies: illness, busy work days, personal injury, mother in hospital and getting ready for Easter has left me with very little time for gaming. Tomorrow is good Friday here and I'll be out of town. I won't be able to post until my Monday (your Sunday). Sorry again for the delay.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Jayla watched as her dhampir companion fell beneath the successive blows. Unable to heal him, she called to Imperia, "Help Lord Bramwell, when you can, for I cannot." The witchling then took a 5ft step inside the chamber and promptly attempted to bludgeon the animated straitjacket with her Changeling claws. Attack with Claw 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

Know. Arcana (DC 14): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 The rattling chains coming from inside the closed chamber made Jayla think of Father Charlatan upstairs and also the poltergeist's words pertaining to 'the chained ones'. I will tell the others what I've heard and my assumption. She did not open the door and instead returned to the group only to discover a commotion inside the other chamber. Standing by the open door, Jayla saw what appeared to be an animated straight jacket floating before Lord Bramwell and Imperia. She reached her hand just inside the doorway and brushed it against Imperia's arm, placing a protective ward over the librarian. Ward Hex placed on Imperia: +2 deflection bonus to AC and a +2 resistance bonus on saving throws. This ward lasts until the warded creature is hit or fails a saving throw.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Thank you, Imperia. My mum's come out of very recent surgery and has a way to go to get back on her feet. I appreciate Khardan passing along a message, but I'll post Jayla's action later tonight (soon) to keep the game moving. The weekend's going to be busy (starting tomorrow), but I will try and post on my next turn.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Upon Imperia's word, Jayla moved cautiously down the short corridor toward the door at the end and listened just outside for any sounds within. She didn't want to open the door if she could determine there was something within that could be dangerous. Jayla's Perception to hear sounds inside room from outside the door: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 Lirin's Perception to hear: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
On the map, it just looks like a blue ghost. Sorry, but that didn't really help me as I wanted to be able to answer Bramwell in some way via rp and not lead him astray. Thanks for the info, GM. After studying the poltergeist, Jayla quietly answered Lord Bramwell, "It is neither man nor woman, but composed of multiple spirits like the scythe was when it battled us. I do not believe it is the warden's wife. Possibly a collection of the spirits of Harrowstone's former gaolers." When the poltergeist demanded they remove themselves from the infirmary, Jayla was happy to comply. When Imperia agreed aloud, Jayla nodded. "Aye, let us go, now," and began backing out cautiously, keeping her eyes on the poltergeist in case it tried something as they retreated. (Moved Jayla out into the corridor.) .
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
GM, can we tell the gender of the poltergeist via sight? Or it is a skeletal ghost? I couldn't see it mentioned in any of the postings. Do you need us to make a check/roll for this? I'll toss two below in case you do. Know. Religion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Jayla had started to inch away from the ghost when Khardan had drawn nearer and touched her arm. Even though Arqueros was not her god, she felt a little safer after the blessing. She stood behind Khardan, yet her body still shook a little, even with his protection. Since Khardan declared the spirit a poltergeist and said it could be harmed and Imperia found her courage and drew the haunt siphon, Jayla steeled herself and willed the fear to pass more quickly. When the spirit spoke and then threw a scalpel at Khardan, she began to back away again until she noticed it had missed her friend and the medical instrument was lodged in the frame of the door. Jayla's head turned as Imperia spoke to the poltergeist. Jayla peeking out from Khardan's shoulder, added quietly, "We did not release Father Charlatan from his chains, be rest assured," not knowing if this proclamation would aid their cause or hinder it. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 (Active effect: War Mind Blessing for 1 minute. This round Jayla selects the +1 dodge bonus to AC for a round. Jayla's AC until start of next round is 17.)
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Lirin's Will Save vs fear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Both frightened for one round. Jayla and her thrush familiar experienced a deep surge of fear after the skeletal ghost issued its hiss. The little witch could not think straight and she could not determine what manner of ghost it was. She wanted to flee fast and looked to her companions. She could hear Lirin's bird-like whimpering next to her ear, feeling the thrush's puffed up feathers quake as they brushed up against her neck. Know. Religion (DC 12) with penalty from frightened condition: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 11 - 2 = 10
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
As she followed the others, Jayla's thoughts strayed again and again to Vesorianna, the young wife of Warden Hawkran. Father Charlatan said she could be found down, here, but that there would be other fell spirits possibly waiting to do them harm. Jayla's keen, mismatched eyes moved around the darkness of the space and she listened for any sounds, other than those made by her companions. (I had Jayla move from the stairwell into the corridor.) Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
If doable as I'm not sure what those little circles are on the map - maybe barrels or something like that? I'm assuming Jayla can move around them? "I agree with Khardan. Let us finish with the top floor quickly and then as Mistress Imperia has said we move below and investigate the other door," she quietly uttered to the group. Jayla cautiously moved forward fifteen feet and cast her gaze upon the space before her, using her darkvision to see beyond shadows and darkness. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Sense Motive (DC 13): 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 - 2 = 4 (Forgot to include the penalty for her drawback in the previous check - sorry.) She listened to Lord Bramwell's response; nodding upon his explanation as to the integrity of Father Charlatan's words and then the spirit and Imperia. "If you feel that going through the door is the better option, then let us do that, Mistress Imperia." Jayla draws her sling from her belt and holds it in her hand in case she needs it for later.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
I can't make that DC, so I'll toss an aid if it's allowable? Sense Motive, aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 And Jayla senses nothing to even give aid. :p Jayla listened to the fell spirit's request to leave this plane and move on and she couldn't tell if he was lying or telling the truth. She wasn't particular good at picking up such nuances of truth and dishonesty. Father Charaltan mentioned a she. This was the second time a 'she' was mentioned in such vague terms. (I recollect a 'she' was mentioned once before? Or did I make that up?) She turned to Lord Bramwell and whispered, "Do you believe him?"
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Jayla kept her eyes on the ghostly form of Father Charlatan. She did not interrupt Lord Bramwell's questioning and merely kept her eyes and ears open to signs of danger around them. Lirin kept very quiet and still against Jayla's hair, under the cover of the dark tendrils. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Sorry, very busy week, and I thought I had played out this latest check ... only to realise that I hadn't. ;p Having heard each of her companions speak, Jayla pondered the situation before them and responded, "If this Father Charlatan is tied to the holy symbols adorning his corpse, then using them in some way may provoke him into revealing himself...I cannot say for certain, but we could try."
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
A chill ran down Jayla's spine upon the breath and sound by her ear. To her companions, she quietly asked, "Did anyone hear that wicked laughter? As soon as I cast for magical auras, I discovered none on the manacles and weights, but I did hear something against my ear. I don't believe it was the wind." Upon Khardan's words, she turned to the Half-orc and nodded, "I think we have the right of it as this is Father Charaltan. I am uncertain, however, that he will speak to us," looking to Imperia who possessed the remaining three haunt siphons. "What say you, Mistress Imperia and Lord Bramwell? Do we attempt it?"
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
She listened to Lord Bramwell's theories on who the skeleton could have been when it was a living, breathing person. She quietly added, "The Mosswater Marauder was a dwarf and this skeleton is far too large for one. The Splatter Man came into my dreams and tried to spell out my name and with the amount of holy symbols keeping this one in place, I do not think it is him. Because of the religious symbols, I am thinking it is possibly Father Charlatan? However, I do not possess any particular knowledge of him to say so with any great certainty. But I feel you are right and that the Piper of Illmarsh's spirit is now in the haunt sipon." (Did Imperia learn any information on these prisoners? I know Jayla had information on two of them: The Mosswater Marauder and the Piper of Illmarsh.) Jayla casts Detect Magic on the skeleton now, looking it over thoroughly (studying it) and its chains and weights.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Jayla stared at the skeleton of the prisoner with the weights around its shackled limbs before speaking, "The symbols belong to Sarenrae, Shelyn, Cayden Cailean, Iomedae, Pharasma, Erastil, Abadar, Groetus and Sivanah. Such measures would only be taken upon the most offensive or powerful offender. Best to keep the chains in place." She heard Imperia speak of a secret door and before she could move closer to examine it herself, Khardan, spear in hand, moved up to stand behind Imperia, so she stepped 5 ft to the side of Lord Bramwell and waited to see what would happen next. Her mismatched gaze glanced back to the chained skeleton every now and again to ensure they were safe from it. Khardan, I moved your token up behind Imperia.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Jayla tried to see around/beyond Bramwell and Imperia into the dark chamber. Alas, her short stature and position made it difficult to see much detail or much of anything, even with her darkvision. She quietly asked the dhampir, "Lord Bramwell, what do you see?" If he discloses what's inside or the group moves into the dark chamber, giving Jayla a better view of the weights, Jayla will try to determine what the different holy symbols are. Know. Religion: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Seeing/hearing Bramwell try to speak with any spirit beyond the door, she noted his first attempt proved fruitless. She then called out from her position behind Lord Bramwell, "Aye, we seek to parley. Let this be a peaceful meeting. Tell us who you are and what you want." Diplomacy with spirit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 She was not as charming as per her usual form, and there was reason for the slight edge in her voice. Yet, she tried to keep her words steady and polite in hopes it reached the ears and reasoning of whatever lay beyond the door in the darkness.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
With Imperia and Bramwell before her, there isn't much Jayla can do but listen and wait, feeling Lirin's feathers brush up against her neck. The conjured stirge's bite had left its mark deep inside her and her vitality was not what it once was and she could feel the lessening. She hoped once they returned to town, she could find someone to heal her for such a malady was beyond her ken. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 When Lord Branwell relayed the news of the malicious laughter coming from beyond the door, Jayla sighed inwardly and then braced herself for this was not the time to show weakness or frustration. "Please open the door carefully and look beyond. Lord Bramwell, with your darkvision you may be able to tell us what you see for I do not have a clear line of sight from my current vantage," she responded in quiet voice.
F Changeling Witch (Hex Channeler) 2,
Jayla looked to see what Bramwell would do before they continued. She could not heal the dhampir but Imperia could as well as the haunt siphon the librarian handed to him. "Lord Bramwell, please take the healing so we may not tarry here too long and become besieged by some escaped stirges," she whispered urgently to the dhampir.

Info on Haunt Siphons for easier reference: The case's interior is lined with black silk and contains what appears to be some sort of spirit board and brass planchette, as well as four vials made of iron & glass that contain tiny, churning clouds of vapour. The four vials sit in six velvet-lined indentations next to the spirit board. Two of the indentations are empty. These items are called haunt siphons. The vapours contained within these vials are used to pacify haunts, and continue to be useful even after they've been expended. Just twist off the top when you're around a haunt and watch the fireworks.
An expended haunt siphon can be used as a grenade-like splash weapon that inflicts 1d6 negative energy damage with a direct hit. Every creature within 5 feet of the point where the haunt siphon hits takes 1 point of negative energy damage from the splash. ======================= Imperia, you took possession of the darkwood case with the vials and made the spellcraft check to identify the haunt siphons. Then you stored the items in your pack and returned to the Lorrimor house.
