Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus just got his tonuge cut off... hes going home.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Answering Thaegrin, Jathus nods.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Unsure of how to respond Jathus speaks, "aaa i ooo eeep." Quickly he realizes and shakes his head. Jathus then points at himself and rotates his pointer towards the villa.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Thinking a fort save to figure out how much he takes it like a champ or cry baby, if you do want want here it is. Also, any hp loss?
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18

During the attack Jathus kept his mind off of it, preparing physically and mentally for the separation. He was good as masking his pain, he was good at absorbing it, but this time it was a little to much. Jathus clutched his mouth with his hands and fell to his knees spewing blood from his mouth.

He held his head high as they walked through the streets. He had his shield back, he was a warrior again. Every so often he spit more blood out of his mouth, before taking more torn cloth and jamming it into his new stub. The thoughts working threw Jathus' would normally be said as orders, have now became much less. Instead of barking he remained quiet, and reserved. Partially due to the pain, but now Jathus longed for combat. He needed to use his blade to free himself from thought.

Responses to Points
1) I want it known that I am being as fair as possible and that I really think through this stuff.
1A) No need to be fair your RP'ing and your the DM. Cut his tongue out?

2) I want to demonstrate the level of thought I have prepared for so my players can feel free to be creative.
2A) Thanks? Will you cut his tongue out?

3)I want for the characters in the games I run always to have the freedom to do as they wish, even when what they wish could get them killed.
3A) Been there, done that! K so now cut his tongue out?

I can't stress to you all enough, I am completely cool with the tongue removal. I do not take in game actions personally out of game, I know ... hard concept to grasp. Let me refrain the statement... "Cut his tongue off."(4) I don't see why the this warrants such a big deal.

[Team Concept]
Completely disagree with this team ideology. The idea of an RPG is to role play. To say that the top priority of a Role Playing Game is to play as part of a team is clearly wrong. Our thinking must be to RP in an RPG, striving to create living characters. Alas, We are not a team, we are independent players functioning together and ROLE PLAYING. If we let our characters breath life, they will automatically form a team. If I wanted to play math-cheese-time I'd play one of the other many wargames. We have already been threw a similar DM vrs Player before with pvp. Which again, the DM can/will completely override the players rights to role play, if he/she deems necessary. (which is fine)

If we could only post how we do in discussion in the game thread, we would we'd have a fantastic game.

PS: Lets beat more dead horses...

Here is my counter IN EBONICS!

King: BRO JOIN MY CREW SON, I R leader broa

Jathus: Done!, Can i get wid your sister

King: F&*% no! Bro kill your fam! Then get ready for war!

Jathus: Sure I hate them anyway, but btw did you try to cap my fam?

King: WHAT! I'd NEVER

Jathus: Well just FYI PPL BE COMING AFTER ME and MY FAM WITH GATs! I think they B trying to kill us BOYE! If they gat me i can't back u up from the graves homes.

King: THERE IS NO US, we are not a team, you are a pathetic dog TONGUE NOW!

Jathus: K?

END SCENE

Point is if the king sees it as disrespectful then it is.

Look at how fast ppl post! I am not objecting, on the contrary I am suggesting that these are characters, and as long as Ryan does it by the rules there is nothing that anyone can say or do about it. I think/feel that Ryans character response seems more geared towards as an OOC response to Jathus yelling at the party in game, and I have previously stated why I thought it was odd. If it was an in game response to an in game action, no one should/could have beef with it.

We have a bad habit of taking in game actions and making them long and drawn out of game responses. IMO there should be no pause! If the king would cut his tongue out what does it matter what anyone has to say outside of the game. I build strong characters, and they often die. We should worry less about the removal of a characters tongue and more about having consistent quality posts.

"...cut his tongue out."(3)

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Feel free to continue this needs nor warrants further debate. Ryan could remove anyone's tongue with a character that he made simply by following the rules, just as he will be doing. But, in general I think you all are over reacting.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

5 Reasons as to why he is hot-headed

1)Brand new "king" taking ownership of something not his, against tradition and by the sword.
2) The first real conversation with a person he asks them to kill their family in a "semi" public setting.
3) Seeing "might this be you" suggesting that the brand new king might have something to do with assassination attempts- keep in mind pt (2)
4) Sees offering marriage as an insult.
5) Sees the idea as working with another person as disrespected. AND refuses to see possible Intel? Shoot, if he doesn't know about it WOULDN'T he want to know? And if he does know, wouldn't he warn his pawn or suggest another target?

In general, he is taking the situation really harshly. He is your character and we may proceed how you want! In general not stressed, but i think it would be far to assume that the removal of a lords limbs might flip that lord against the remover. ALL in all we (Jathus) didn't know the kings personality up front, (not that we should have) Jathus spoke to promptly and got his tongue cut off.

"Cut his tongue out." -Josh 1/21 11:10 AM

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

all good, the king is brash and outlandish Jathus should have registered it sooner. Cut his tongue out.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

" Cutting my tongue will not aid your reign. If you must appease your rage my king, I will nor can stop you. Be warned that in the same day I have bowed and committed my house to your glory, you have dealt a great blow to my greatest tool."

Going to try to stop the new king with a check.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Turning to retinue Jathus barks,"Do NOT excuse me! What I do is my own, and you do not have the command or merit to publicly question me!

"My lord, now that we have ruled out the obvious we can move on. You sire, just asked me to over through my house and it is not to far to question if you have already tried. Whats more important is that we understand there are those out there wishing to over throw the houses backing you. That those coming after me and my blood are really going after you and your power."

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

-3 from knowlege history my bad

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus was stunned by his new king. It was obvious now, he had made a serious mistake in character. The king was young, immature and longed for war. Jathus knew he had over spoken as soon as his last question formed sound. He had always been a man constantly learning his place, and how to act in formal situations and grasping at political understands. Still, the king was older in age, yet Jathus felt the king was far younger. He assumed the king wanted a the tittle and some glory to keep it. He barely remembered to provide the king with a fake smile and a half-hearted laugh.

He gave a quick eye at his adviser. He wanted to ask a question, he wanted to be told what to do. He quickly fell into quick sand. There was some of his house that he might be able to secure, but he knew his older brother might need the sword and his father would require it. "Thaegrin was long considered my fathers aid, and I would assume that he would align himself with me now."

"I have longed for my father dead, his complacently has been long starving my house of its glory. Lately, my family has become target of multiple assassination plots. Would you be the cause?"

I am sorry I don't fully understand the relationship between the brothers house and House Randious. I got Tholan is their fiscal ward, but outside that how has their previous relationship. Or what would happen when Tholans released? In general are they something of a Bannerman style house.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

With his eyes locked on the would be emperor, Jathus marches into the room drawing his blade. Staying ten feet away, he slowly chests the blade touching the cold steel against his nose and finally giving his blade a kiss. With out pause he kneels and sets the blade to his side. "House Rudianos presents itself to its new King. You have House Rudianos backing your claim my lord." With his show of support finished Jathus stands sheathing his sword. "As soon as we are realized I will send word to my father, and we will start forging a an army of our most hardy slaves, my king."

*"I would also look to offer an alliance of even greater merit. I might be so bold as to offer myself or one of my brothers to wed your sister. Cementing our houses in union of blood."*

Gonna attempt to Diplomacy all over his face. Offering a suggestion to marry the two houses with emphasis on "MYSELF" and marrying Jathus

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus speaks straight to the guard holding his group back from departing the room. "We are ready to see the Emperor."

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus and Thaegrin both agree that since we need to wait for our army to ready itself, we might want to give it some time and eventually rethink what side our troops would be on. Jathus's comment was more reassuring himself that he wasn't a traitor.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Caught off guard by the mans retort, "RELAX, I was merely implying that those that would not stand with the king are betrayers. How people choose to adhear to the king will in its own dictate if they are betrayers. But, planing on a possible failure doesn't make anyone a rebel or backstabber. The Veir could even be thought of as betraying all of us, claiming his right to rule unlawfully. "

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

"I was merely imply that those that betray AND would not stand with the king were betrayers." Simple three letter words are easily lost in translation.

Jathus listen to there thoughts, which to him had a little to much useless chatter to have any real merit on the negotiations table. He would be giving a long rival house a head, the release needed to be a slow and purposeful change. Releasing him with out a good sense of demands would be like dropping the leash of a rabid dog. Yet, holding out could have dire meanings as well.

He stood at the head of the table with his arms crossed."Right now is not the time for true negotiations on the matter of your release Tholan. Tonight after dinner we will discuss it. But, I do like the idea of a ransomed release and a possible future alliance. I am sure that House Ridianos will be able to help reestablish the Thelkonlander people as one to be feared by pirates not prey of such.[b]"

[b]"We will kneel to the Veir as our sovereign. It is in our best interest to back him while we build an army. If the King takes control of the land, we will be in his good graces for kneeling early. Yet, if the king looses his quest we will have enough time to have built an army. From there we can rebuild the relationship between my house and the betrayers."

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

David) Your asian I don't think your people need to "Major" in it, similarly like a Jewish person doesn't need to "major" in math! I'll just change what I sent to English Pro's.

Ryan)I really have a hard time providing good rp with characters that I don't really feel like rp, outside of one liners. Example, in less then 100 posts as, Thaegrin is changing Jathus. Yet, with Tholan little effort has been given on both players to even provide a conversation. But, yes I agree there is more to Jathus then the Ultra Authoritative and I need to be doing better providing other sides for others to Rp with.

But, I really agree with Theagrin. It feels like if we make the wrong choice your going to kill us. If you want to build a sand box game we kinda need to lead you! Which means then we need to stop asking/waiting on the next ryan post to tell us what were doing! Instead we should be having DSP responding to us and our actions.

I am going to commit to a lot longer posts as I think it will spur us to a new level of sand boxiness.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

I like "RP'ing" with you... I sometimes feel like there are two main characters an then the other three are assisting players.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

I am 90% content. I am very happy with the campaign thus far. I have been thinking about it for awhile and my big critique is that I feel like were not putting towards the effort to develop our characters and our setting. For example, How many posts do we have that go over 100 words? 50 words? or even twenty words! If we wanted to improve it that would be how.

Personally, I try to push the story and give my character a tangible vibe. I would like to give a shout out to Theagrin to giving my character a great negatively toned relationship.

But, might I ask Ryan what you would like?

Lastly, now keep in mind I think Ryan you are doing an excellent job at not being cliche and your story arch-keep me guessing. I would like to reference a post from a different PBP I again, the goal is to show a different option then the A+B styles we currently use, which in no way is an insult to anyone. I am just bringing up another option to maybe force us to dive deeper! (Particularly, the other players)

Example
Premise: Luis had just woken up from a vision of the coming apocalypse. (Greek Mythology)

Actual Post
Louis awoke in a cold sweat from his latest vision. While Father Zeus had long ago [TT="steeled"]Aura of Courage[/TT] his heart against all manner of terrors, this portent yet filled him with an unspeakable dread. "What manner of vision is this?" he thinks to himself, sitting in bed. "Why has Father Zeus bid this to me? Is it a prophetic warning from his oracular son Apollo? Or merely the mischief of the capricious titanness Nyx?" The most recent version of the dream argued heavily against the latter. No longer mere nightmares of inevitable doom, the last variation revealed that hope yet remained against the woes promised by this artifact. "Still," he wonders cautiously, "be this a vision true or mere phantasms sent to vex?"

With sigh, he left these thoughts for later. Dawn's reassuring light shone through his window to signal the start of his morning ritual. The Lord of Nichen descended to his knees beside his bed, thanking the divine king for this new day & beseeching his guidance in his rule today.

The pious lord is interrupted from his prayers by a knock at the door. He rises, bidding them enter. Some servants stride swiftly in, busying themselves with preparing their lord's washing basin & his regalia for court today. Washed & dressed in the rich blue/red robes of his office (beneath which hides a simple but protective leather jerkin) along with the iron crown of Nichen, Lord Louis offers a nod & polite word of thanks to his servants, dismissing them. He completes his attire with the richly ornate scabbard resting by his bedside, fixing it to his belt. Within the scabbard rests the jeweled but unbreakable sword of his father ("his soul rest in peace") & father's father & so on for as long as anyone can remember.

With a soft swish of the richly trimmed cape, bearing the red & blue coat of arms of House Galliberos, the Lord of Nichen exits down the hall, guards coming to a smart salute as he passes. Louis descends the stairs towards his manor's chapel. He kneels at his usual spot awaiting the start of the daily service. He tends to pay little notice to who does & does not attend with him; however, he is pleased to find his little sister Catherine ("Good for her"), whom he had been gently prodding to attend regularly with him for some time now.

Refreshed from the service, Louis adds again to his usual petitions some small guidance from the heavens as to his strange vision. With a polite nod to his sister as he exits the chapel, Louis pays his morning visit & repast with his ailing mother Isabel. She obviously can tell something is on his mind, bothering him (mothers are good at that), but he hasn't yet troubled her with the vision, worried over her health being what it is. Still, the troubled lord is affable enough. With a filial kiss on her forehead, he takes his leave. The Lord of Nichen spies his ministers waiting for him outside. He begins to walk down the hall & nods to them to begin their briefing.

If you planned some other happening amid his morning routine, feel free to interrupt.

Who would be in charge of watching the night sky & charting the stars? The clergy? A court astrologer? I'm wanting to know who I might ask about watching for & finding a comet descending at night, besides whoever has the nightwatch on the ramparts.

Hm. Prophecies of doom-bringing power, intriguing. If I had to hazard a guess, that little girl certainly sounds like the young baronness of Firantis. I can't place the proud noble, though.

Does Louis himself recognize either the young sorceress or the proud noble?
Take 10 on Knowledge:Nobility: 19.

End

In just a medium length post we have learned a lot about the character, and most of it was internal monologue. (this site lacks some of the cooler PbP http addons, hence the odd script.) Is anyone else willing to commit to longer posts? Thought we were all English majors except me!

Jathus' Priorities

1) Achieve Glory, Fame, and Wealth.
2) Find Dead Brother (Even if he is alive)
3) Dispose of Oldest Brother
4) Kill Father
5) Take Control of house.
6) Become Veir... King... Emperor... Sith Lord? Ruling as far as he can with an iron fist. Rewarding loyalty and good work, while severely punishing the opposite.

Jathus would typically favor the king. Jathus respects the titles above the person, and when a person is undeserving of the tittle it is time to remove said person. As the king moves away from the law Jathus will loose respect for him quickly, but he doesn't like the idea of disloyalty. If presented the option in a completely different and personal setting he would quickly drop to his knee and pronounce his sovereign king.

As Josh I would quickly go the route of the rebel- kneeling to no man, but as Jathus he'd prefer to hold himself till a personal meeting could be set up to discuss everything. (Terms) Moving from a Democratic Monarchy to a straight Monarchy can be a big deal for those in power.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Qoute: The only open way out would be to crash through the large window behind the delegates of Veir.

Sounds like your pushing Jathus to be a little to awesome... I'll hold back my awesome idea!

Qoute: No! I am not pushing!

My god I was talking about breaking the large window and trying to escape.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

After they arrived into the room Jathus asks one of the guards to have a servant fetch him a pitcher of water.
Kinda trying to pull Anga in if he is not to busy.

"This is against everything in the kings power. We are separate, but united under his banner. We have served and respected the Veir on every occasion, but now we are tasked to swear loyalty to him as our sovereign. My father is a worm and a coward. He would likely make his politics based on fiscal gain, and fear." Jathus paced back and fourth without the intent to let anyone else speak until he was finished with his thought.

"I favor the king and I would easily back him, however his immediate treatment after attempting to take power leaves me to believe that he is holding back his tryanicalness for after I, and the other swear our oaths. I beginning to believe that my father knew about this, and wants to use me as a scapegoat if things turn ill. So that when at sword point he could claim I was not acting of my house."

Still standing he asks, "What say you, Thaegrin?"

Jathus will eventually ask everyone in the room gathering as much information, before he came to his decision.

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus speaks to the guards at the door, "Are we being detained?"

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Seemed like no one cared? Most want bloodshed! Figured the clear choice was to delay.

Jathus stopped in his tracks and turned to his adviser. He knew he promised to listen to him and wanted to continue to stay in his moderately poor graces. Without negative attitude or any sort of positive tone he spoke plainly to his aid."I doubt he, our lord, gave me this sort of power. It's obvious fourth sons don't have the ability to surrender a house or commit treason. Unless you know something different? Either way I am not ready to commit to either side, just yet. Once we swear one way or another we have played our card, OUR ONE CARD. House Rudianos is a jewel, we should not engage into this like we fear the King. Nor should we join the rebellion without clear sight of victory. "

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

Jathus stands and turns to his small retinue, "Those who suppress freedom always do so in the name of law and order. I fear that what ever conspires here will have no sense-able discussion with it. Father will need to decide this choice. I will not force my house to start a war that is not mine to make."

Quickly Jathus moves to the back of the room with out making another sound.

His left arm felt awkward without his shield, but he thought it inappropriate for the meeting. He holstered the key to his fighting on his horse. He pays little at the other houses attempt to belittle him and his house.

As he approaches his seat he takes a quick detour, he passes his chair by ten feet and kneels head to his knee."My king" He declares just loud enough for the king to hear. Even with his armor pinching him he does not move until the king is verbally acknowledges him.

"The rest of your Normal duties. Marco, your boys are graveyard tonight, rest up. "

Does Jathus have a cook yet?

Thank you for the light descriptions of the characters, Would they have moved their family in as well or it just the fifteen. Secondly, I am looking for away to create a self sufficient house-extension. What what the Villa's purpose before the attack? If it was a slavery trade post, I'd like to send a message to the Jathus's father to resume business. Other then that, any Idea's to create a stable income? Not necessarily a vast pool of gold able to be swam in, but more so a way to generate enough to help maintain the Villa.

Jathus will work within his new command for the remainder of the evening. cleaning and moving debris. His plan was to have the heavy labor out of the way by the end of the day. After every inch has been given a visit, he would encourage the men two invite their families and will offer the appropriate amount of gold for their families travels as well as the earnings for the three days of work.

Figure during the time Jathus would find a special interest in at least 4 of the men. Creating a pyramid 1 captain and his aid controlling 3 sergeants each managing four men. Creating three teams with one leader.

"Please, I encourage you Anga to leave and do what you do among the people.

Tomorrow, I will attending the council. He states openly to his party, we must do what we can and make use of the fading light."

Male Human 4 Caviler, 3 Fighter

"I tend to agree." Jathus out of touch with his usual self the attack on the house had brought on his hatred for his father, and with the death of wraith he had no one to confide in.

My father brought this, he is laid back and distant from the troubles of the world. He cares not for diplomacy compaired to how much he cares for his food. He is far to greedy and obviously this is some sort of conspiracy against the house. In the manors defense we find it lacking. To attack a mans home is the same as to out right kill him. Someone will pay for this, just like the bastards in the Forrest. His brain was mashing many thoughts and feelings. Yet, his responses to the party were weak and obvious. He knew he needed to take his reigns back, but lacked the will.

"No matter the clues or cause we need to rebuild and take back what My House once was. This sort of attack and its pairing mockery will be sorted and there will be a just and swift punishment. For now, I am a target. These bastards were obviously going after me. I will heed your earlier words Thaegrin. My unrelentlessness must be compromised and I must adapt a safer approach. We must find out what we can about the attack from our sources, and we will need to remake the manor. Anga focus your efforts around questioning the populous, while Thaegrin and Tholan please explore and find out as much as you can about the actual attack."

"Ezkal, I promise that if you bare with me we will enter talks about your brother. He has saved my life and I value him greatly. "

About Embry Harrenkon

Embry was born to a poor couple in the midst of Egorian, the capital city of Cheliax. From the time he was very young, it was impressed into him that the best way to get out of squalor was to become part of the Chelaxian government, with his highest aspirations being to join an order of Hellknights.

As he grew, he found a kinship with the natural world that most from Cheliax would shun, and one day while hunting for food for his family in the forest, he came upon a small tyrannosaur, which began following him almost instantly. He found that the creature was more intelligent than most of its kind, and decided to raise it as his ally. He trained in combat side-by-side with his dinosaur companion, and both learned to work together as a team in ways that no others could imagine.

Now Embry has earned enough of a name to be noticed by the Hellknights, and he is attempting to join the Order of the Gate. His combat abilities cannot be denied by any, and his loyalty to Cheliax seems to be as strong as anyone in the country.

GM ONLY PLEASE:

However, Embry keeps a secret from even those closest to him. His time in the wild exposed him to more than just nature... he came upon a silver holy symbol of the destructive god Rovagug, and when he picked it up he felt power beyond any he could imagine. Despite his own tendency to follow the letter of the law, and his wish to bring others who do not to justice, he quietly reveres the destroyer, in a country where reverence of a chaotic beast like Rovagug could get him killed.
