Jan gets up, groaning as he realises there are no wounds and shakes his head.
"Damn illusions. I swear when we find the wizard I'll ring his bloody neck!" he sighs, hefting up his weapon and looking to everyone with a smile "Ah am okey. Illusion magic, bah!" he seems generally disgrunted at the moment for being fooled and knocked down by an illusion.

DM:

So what hit points is Jan on? I'm a bit lost. No one stabalised him yet?

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

Sorry, been sick recently and inactive. Ouch, was a pain that I missed that. For a moment was about to point out AC 15, however you were correct because since I charged it gave a penalty on my AC to 13, ouch.

1d20 ⇒ 5

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

Looks good. You can even take our avatars to make tokens too, though I'm sure you'll see that in one of the lessons I linked to you.

"Ya, green-skinned bastards! Ye shall suffer the axe of Jan Whetstone!" he shouts charging at the Orc and striking out at him with the axe head.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Charging Orc 2 at E6, arriving at E7.

This is the first time I've run a PbP. Do you have any recomendations as to how or where I could post a map for use on this?

Maptools is a really popular mapping program for PbP DMs. Others simply make a simple design using a spreadsheet and colored cells or something along those lines. Either way, one of the popular places to post maps is on Photobucket or to a Google Site.

If a map isn't available, distance between us and the attacking orcs would be necessary. Tulip can't choose an action until she knows how much range she's got to deal with.

Agreed, Maptools is great. There are even tutorials online for you to watch where you see what the guy is doing and he says what buttons he presses for what functions. You can increase player's size, reduce them and ect.

Maptools

There are a lot of items and stuff you can download for images like tables, trees and other generic things. It's fun to give it a little play around and see what you can do with what you can learn from the tutorials. As I found it's most clear with the grid and co-ordinates laid out so that the players can say things like "I move to E6 and strike at the goblin in D6" so that it's obvious to the DM where the player's are going and then use a image site to post up the pictures of the map so far and things.

No need for a knowledge check. You all recognize an orc when you see one

Orc Initiative = 1d20

Battle order:

Atia, Jan, Tulip, Orcs, Onsal, Vahn, Alanthian

Let's try to post somewhat in order. In other words, all those who would go prior to the orcs post, and then I'l post, and then the others post. Vahn, you can choose to use the action you posted prior or do something else depending on what happens.

Is there a map or anything for us to try and Co-ordinate?

Still alive. I had a sudden trip out of town and forgot to bring my stuff. I'll be back tomorrow night and will post then.

The Dr did his work I see. Excelent.

net back

Inititive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

forgive me but no internet. Using phone and very limited in posting. Can you DMPC Jan until my net returns?

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

The Dwarf is ready and willing to head straight out.

Looking over at the halfling, Jan shakes his head.
"Don't worry lass. I don't much care fer map making." he explains to her and pats her on the shoulder perhaps a bit too hard without realising it. "Let's leave the book worms to do the map reading." his dwarf bluntness showing brightly as he says this, not caring if the others cared or not.

After a lull in the discussion, Alanthian takes his pack off and sets it down and recovers his part of the map to study.

Seeing this, Jan decides to do this himself and looks over his peice of the map for anything interesting.

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

Jan takes the pack with a nod and sorts through the items. He's unimpressed, but doesn't say anything about it. He looks to the others with interest and puts out his hand
"Yan." he leaves his hand out for it to be shaken.

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

"I have me hands full." he replies simply, not caring about this whole affair of carrying a lantern.

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

"Jan Whetstone. Ex-weaponmaster of my people. I just want to kill something evil and get treasure." as he says this he clearly doesn't care for anyone personally and holds his Urgrush, smirking as he looks down at it.

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

I'm ready whenever. Will post when I get back online in the morning.

Male Dwarf Fighter/1st

Fighter here should be good. Can't have too many Fighters.

Also are you allowing Alternative class features like from the APG? If so I'd like to choose two-weapon warrior or weapon master.

To the best of my knowledge, and backed up by other character sheet examples, it appears to be one CoT Trait, and one "Generally Available" Trait.

okey, ty.

One trait and that is the AP trait, correct or one other?

Concept: Jan Whetstone was considered a talented fighter back in his home town, until the day came where his own family turned on him and exiled him. He was accused of killing another dwarf in cold blood with his weapon found nearby. Jan knew the real reason, new people were in charge and pushed him out as they knew his connections to the old traditions and rulers might start a revolution.

Jan travelled long and hard to get to this city, the nearest possible where he felt he could do the most good. Upon arriving here he noticed many suspecious things going on, most importantly the people who dissappeared and then the next day when he asked about them people would act as if they never existed. Being stubbern and hard-headed he continued to search for these people, getting into many arguments with anyone who blocked his path and dragging around a reputation of Notorioty.

What hurt him most was that one of these people who went missing was a young woman who had lost her own father in a similar way. He promised her that he would try to find him but not long after that happened she too stopped existing and he grew so angry with the keeper of the Tavern he was in that he smashed a nearby chair to intimidate him, but he remained tight lipped. He looks for Larina now in hopes to find her and the others that went missing still alive.

Will need to alter the stats. I used the template off another character so I need to change a few things.
