Arrg!!! I just spent about 20 min on a post only to loose it all! darnit! "Well, Farevon, old Parooh doesn't seem to be at home... he's probably down at the Academy chattering away with the other fusspots in town." Jallia chuckles, "I can't tell you how much time my Kellon spends..." She leaves the sentence unfinished, but her cheer soon returns. "Well I really wanted to show you all of Veznutt's maps, but I'm sure we won't be seeing those today. And I have no desire to involve myself in whatever covoluted subject they're mired in at the moment. What say you to visiting the temple instead?" As the two walk toward the new temple Jallia tells the young half elf about her friend Hannah. "Many a morning the two of us would explore the woods just yonder." "Ah!" she says with a big smile on her face. "That's her now! See over there with the Lady Mayor." The smile fades and her brow furrows as she takes in the scene. "Who is that...? he looks familiar..."

"Auntie?" Jallia's eyes sparkle as she tries the word out on her own lips. "Auntie? Oh, yes! That will be splendid, Farevon!" The two leave their nice breakfast and begin to wander around the town. "Now, who do I have to see today? There's Hannah, of course. She must be around here somewhere. Gorvi...ohhh I'd like to give him a piece of my mind one last time before I leave Sandpoint..." At this name Jallia's face bunches up, but quickly reverts to it's normal relaxed form, "but no, we said we were going to enjoy ourselves today, and having that conversation just wouldn't do." "Ah, I know. Let's stop by and see if Veznutt Parooh is in. Oh, yes, that's a splendid idea. For a young man travelling about the countryside, you might find old Parooh very interesting indeed! And after that, well we'll stop at the temple and give our respect to Gozreh... and perhaps chat with Father Zantus as well."

"Farevon... no, the wounds are old. Never fear to speak your mind." Jallia's face slips into a grin. "Such words of wisdom from one so young. Now I am determined to enjoy myself today, and I hope you will accompany me!" "Ahhh... just one thing though, Farevon dear. Well, how should I put this. Titles and such are a fine thing, especially from a youngling to an elder, but well..." Jallia shuffles around in her seat. "Well you're obviously no youngling anymore and I think I would prefer if you simply called me Jallia." She leans in close, whispering conspiratorally with Farevon, "No one is Sandpoint is so formal, and truth be told... all of the reverance I recieve in the outlands always makes me uncomfortable." "No come!" she declairs with a large grin. "Let us walk the town. I am especially curious to see this new stone house that the humans have built to fit Gozreh in!"

"Breakfast sounds wonderful, and I know just the place. Risa's." Jallia leads the two past the new cathedral before pulling Farevon down a small side alley to what is very apperantly a local's hangout. <Jallia orders what ever she can for 2gp, 3sp, before apologising to her companion.> "I'm sorry I can't afford anything more Farevon. I hadn't actually planned on eating here today, or anywhere else for that matter. I was expecting Gozreh to provide my next meal... but as I can't see what use these coins will bring me should I keep them, we might as well enjoy all they can buy us here." The two sit and enjoy whatever fare can be bought. "I'm leaving Sandpoint, Farevon. After Kellon... after the Unpleasantness, well I tried my best to honor his memory. But this life is not for me." She pauses in thought before continuing. "Sandpoint's mourning has come to an end, and I suppose mine should as well. I'm taking the new cathedral as a sign... a sign of new beginings. I suppose I'll go back home eventually. And on my way I'll enjoy whatever Gozreh provides for me." "And what of you Farevon? You've grown since I saw you last, I think. A man now, on man's errands from the look about you."

"Ah, well...that's the end of that then." Jallia sighs as she closes and locks the door of the quaint little cottage for the last time. "Everything's packed Merrish, we might as well get going. Won't hurt to stop and say goodbye to Hannah before we go though." She tugs on the mule's saddle bags to make sure that everything is secured before turning her attention to the animal perched in the nearby tree branches. "Time for you to go now Norrit! Your wing is all healed. Go find youself a mate and rase some chicks... like a normal bird would." The nearby eagle just screaches and flaps down to perch on the stick tied to the mule's saddle bags. Jallia didn't expect the eagle to go. It never did. They had this conversation every day for the pastfur years, and still the bird persisted in acompanying her around everywhere she went. ---- Hannah wasn't in, and the sun was rising. The townsfolk were rushing around Sandpoint, busy preparing for the festival. "Hannah mustbe around here somewhere, Norrit. I guess there's no harm in staying for the festival. It will give us one last chance to celebrate with old friends before leaving..." Jallia wanders arund town greeting all the folk she knows, and offering her help for preparing for the festival when needed. Finally it gets under way and Jallia listens to the speaches given with all the others standing around her. Just as the speaches end she catches a glimpse of an old friend. "Farevon! Farevon, is that you?" She rushes up to where the half elf is standing, pulling Merrish along behind her, all of her pots and supplies clanging around in the saddlebags. "It's been too long!" she says genuinly glad to see him. "What brings you here? Ar you in just for the festival?"

Hmmm... That being the case it is very probable that Jallia and Farevon might already know each other. Being a druid, Jallia could have been consulted on all sorts of problems ranging from the birthing of animals to the protection of crops from various blights and rots. People from across the countryside might bring sick or injured animals to her to heal, and if the illness is serious enough, she may even have traveled out to visit them (doing housecalls as it were). Perhaps she and Farevon met on just such a trip. Being a gnome (and our illustrious DM can correct me if I'm wrong - I don't have the Player's Guide handy at the moment) she is probably less prejudiced against half elves than either humans or elves would be. It's possible that she is one of the few real friends Farevon has (outside of his extended family of course). Just some thoughts. What do you think? |
