Okay boys and girls, here it is.
First off, the list of potential players I have right now are Chimp, Talion, Keno, Dreamweaver, Kahoolin, and Valegrim. (Dreamweaver and Kahoolin, I got your names from Aubrey. If you don't want to be in, that's fine.) So far, Keno has said that he's interested.
Basically, PHB races and classes, unless you can come up with something fun and interesting. I will probably allow WotC splat book PrCs, though that's a non issue right now. If you have Pathfinder #1 or the Player's Guide, feel free to use anything out of those.
Character creation will use elite array plus three. Max gold as per class. You can also choose one background feat for free.
Any questions? Comments? Concerns? The game will start when everyone is ready and comfortable, so take your time. I'll help you in any way I can.

Two questions:
1. Elite Array + 3? So we can add 3 more points anyway we want? ie. +3 to Str, or +1 to Str, Dex & Int?
2. Just to confirm, the bonus background feat is limited to those in the Player's Guide, right?

1. That's correct. I'm sure that you already know this, but elite array is 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8.
2. If you find another feat from another source that counts as a background feat, go ahead. OGL for base classes and races only; everything else is good.

Nameless and Evil Genius, I'll keep you in mind as on deck: if one of the other guys drops out, then you're in; if not, then I'll keep my eye out for another person running, and recommend you.
Alright, thanks! I've got an idea for a Chelish Conjurer, but when it comes to creating characters, I'm extremely flexible. I love them all!
So I'll keep an eye on this thread, and hope that I sneak my way in!Talion09 |
...Basically, PHB races and classes, unless you can come up with something fun and interesting. ...
One more question. I'm contemplating making a two weapon fighter like Valeros (or maybe just tweaking his Pre-gen build in Pathfinder #1).
Any chance that Oversized Two Weapon Fighting from Complete Adventurer would be an option? I'm also thinking of building towards the Tempest PRC from that same book.

Cool! I have a character (Varisian bard) already written up if room becomes available.

ok; I am interested; will fill any needed nitch, I have no particular bias to any type of character if anyone likes a certain kind I can take whatever as I like them all.
Could you please give a bit of discussion about alignments and dieties; are you using core dieties, stuff like that; matters for clerics, paladins, druids and stuff.

THis campaign will be using the Pathfinder gods, which are listed in the Player's Guide. Are you able to download it? If not, then I'll list the gods for you later.

E.G: Thanks for the link.
Val: The Player's Guide that E.G. posted the link to is the one I was talking about. Sorry about not being clearer ^_^o
Keno: Man, you're pumped for this, ain't ya? Double check your stats; at a glance, I can see that your AC is off. Other than that, it looks good.
Everyone: Forgot to mention, but how do you want to be involved in Sandpoint? Do you want to be random visitors? Do you want to be residents?
... Um... would you like a blurb? Feel kinda stupid for not having one...

Yeah, I guess so. Hmm, maybe I'm not thinking straight, but isn't it simply 10 + 1 (dex) +4 (AC bonus from the hide shirt) = 15? Or am I over looking something Barbarian specific?
And I have Zakok arriving in town as a merchant's bodyguard.

Check your OTHER ACs. And it sounds good.

All right, you probably already know this, but this adventure takes place in the town of Sandpoint. At the time of the adventure, the Swallowtail Festival is taking place, to consecrate the new cathedral that replaced the old cathedral of Sandpoint that was destroyed in the great fire five years previous.
If you want to be a Sandpoint resident, or if you can't think of a good way to be involved, then let me know, and I'll give you a hand.

I'll throw up a more complete post tonight, but I came up with my character concept. (Nothing like thinking about DnD stuff to pass the time while doing yardwork, lol)
I'll be a human rogue (probably of Chelaxian heritage) from Magnimar. (I'm taking the City-Born background feat.) I'll have all the usual rogue skills, and style myself as a "treasure hunter" when speaking to other adventurers. Basically, he works freelance for antiquarians and other collectors in Magnimar, going out to find artifacts and trinkets. As such, he has been to Sandpoint multiple times in the past. And I'll probably though some sort of connection to one of the Magnimar thieves guilds as well.
On a more mechanical side, I'm thinking of going with 2-Weapon Fighting and Pointblank Shot. In melee, I'll tumble around to flanking positions and use a longsword/dagger combo to hopefuly double the sneak attack damage. But I'd prefer in most situations to use Tumble to maintain my distance, and throw a pair of daggers each round.
I'll have some social skills to go along with the usual Hide/Move Silently, Spot, Open Locks, etc. So I could be the "face" of the party when it comes to negotiating, but if we have a Bard or a high CHA cleric or sorceror, then they might be better at it than I. (I'm going to focus more on Bluff I think)
---
Question for SectIf I take Knowledge (Local) could I apply it to Sandpoint, seeing as how I've been there multiple times in the past?

For your Knowledge Local question, yes, I'll allow it.
Have you thought about being a junior member of the Pathfinders? They're basically a treasure hunter/historian guild.
Sect RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32 |
I'm thinking of playing a gnome druid. She would be a resident of Sandpoint. Perhaps her husband was killed in the recent unpleasantness...? Anyway, I'm thinking of her as more of an herbalist/animal doctor type rather than the "lives under the trees" type druid.
Hm... would you be interested in being the apprentice of the town Herbalist, Hannah? She's an elven cleric of Gozreh, and doubles as midwife/"family planning specialist".

<smacks forehead> Yes, I guess that would work. Now why it didn't occur to me while reader the PATHFINDER Player's Guide.... lol

Jallia (gnome druid) is up as a profile, however she's only about 70% done at the moment. I still need to work on her some today (both crunch and fluff). Sect, I'm going to take your advice and work Hannah in to her background, but because I want Jallia to be a bit older and more established I'm going to make them more contemporaries instead of going the apprentice route.
Jallia has been in Sandpoint for around 30 years, so it is quite possible that some of the other characters are already familiar with her, especially if they have an animal that would have ever been sick or injured. Even those from out of town may know her, as the occasional traveller will bring her a lame horse to heal.

uhm; am pretty busy today, but will try to get this done tomorrow; can someone post a list of what players and classes we have so far so i can fill any hole?; thanks much in advance.
So far we have a Gnome Druid, Human (Shoanti) Barbarian & Human (Chelaxian) Rogue. So an arcane caster would be nice, as would another warrior type. I believe we are going with 6 players, so that allows a fair bit of duplication.

Yeah, I need to get ahold of Dreamweaver and Kahoolin, see if they want to play.

Okay, here's the group so far.
Keno - Shoanti Barbarian
Chimpman - Gnome Druid
Talion - Chelax Rogue
Dreamweaver - Elf Scout
Valegrim - Psion(?)
Kahoolin - Hasn't responded
Val, if you want to play a psion, first, you have to be sure that you understand how to play one, and, second, come up with a good story, as there's no word from the Paizo guys on how psions work here. I have something in mind already, but I'd like to hear something from you.
I'm currently considering starting up a thread called "Hey, Kahoolin! Listen!", since he hasn't posted for half a week. If I don't hear anything from him tomorrow night, I'm going to go to the next person, Nameless.
Talion, have you thought about the idea of your character being a Pathfinder?
Chimpman, your idea sounds good.
Dreamweaver, have you thought of a background yet? We could have you an aquaintance of Shalelu Andosana, elven ranger.
Keno, potato chips.

Talion, have you thought about the idea of your character being a Pathfinder?
Yep, Pathfinder sounds good. I'm working on the backstory for my character now, probably post it up tonight or tommorrow. But the rough version is already on this thread, just insert Pathfinder where I said treasure hunter

Okay, this is really unfair, but since Kahoolin hasn't responded, Nameless will take spot number six.
I feel kinda bad about it, since he had no idea that he was invited :(
You sure? I don't mind waiting a bit longer if you want. I mean, I'm totally up for it, I have a character set up and everything, so I'll take the spot. But if you do want to wait longer, I'm game. I'll tentatively start working on my Chelaxian Conjurer, you just let me know if it's all good.

Go ahead with your character; if he comes and is interested, I might just open a seventh slot.

Cool, just wanted to know if I can take the Conjurer variant ability Rapid Summoning from Unearthed Arcana (in the SRD: Link) I find I don't use my familiar very often, and would much prefer this to make the character a little different. Also, figured it wouldn't be too much of a problem since it's in the SRD, but I figured I should run it by you first.
I should have the character complete by tonight.

Personally, I am a fan of the Rapid Summoner ability. So, yes.
