Get the River Kingdomes sourcebook... your campaign sounds like you are building a River Kingdome. And they are just next door. They are kingdomes that are build by and fore Neutral and Evil self serving Kings and they attract all kinds of citizenry and trade. So Kobolds, Orcs, Half Orcs, Half Elves, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings, People trying to make a new life, people trying to escape their past, bandits, pirates, crusaders, robin hoods, Hobgoblins, assassins, goblins, ogres, ogrekins, could all conceivably live in town :)
Freeport has a brawler or martial arts master character called "the Survivor" that is awesome and in the new Pathfinder edition of Freeport it is quite compatable. They are definately not (Shaolin)Monks and can be of any alignment! Which makes them great fun to play with because they can be all those hero's from the kung fu movies that weren't in the safron robes whith the bald heads :) They dont get all the trappings of the Monk either but they do get unarmed strike and extra damage, and they are good all around unarmed characters whith high AC due to dodge and such.
Actually Gary Gygax and friends like Kung Fu the TV series with David Carradine :) and the original D&D Monk was build on that character. From the escape to the quivering palm to the falling with no damage :)
In Golarion they explain it in ways like Tian Xia monks commin over the Ice and starting secret monestaries or wandering seeking enlightenment or Vudrani monks setting up monesteries or fighting schools like the Irorium or on Jalmeray. Or various groups setting up unarmed fighting schools and focusing on a more monastic life perfecting fighting tecnique, like in Cheliax or Riddleport. And many western mideval monks were retired cavaliers, and other soldiers so they knew how to fight too... :)
Monk-Magus, perhaps somthing in a Halfling or Kobold :) Gnome Paladin-Alcamist LG Or Kobold Cavalier :) Or perhaps a Halfling Inquisitor, Neutral, devoted to the Green, and is out to defend the natural ways and punish those who would destroy the wild places... like loggers and those who would dump in rivers and such... ecco terrorist :)
The Hellknights are not Asmodean per se, and many of them are Lawful Good and even Paladins :) Though many are Lawful Neutral or Even Lawful Evil... It would be funny to see Hellknights of various flavors trying to get along, and Iomadaen Paladins, and perhaps Paladins of Saranrae as well as Clerics and Female Monks of Asmodeus trying to co exist there ;)
You could get a Half Orc Shoanti comming from anywhere in Varisia maybe the Shoanti mother fled because of Love for the Child / shame for what the child is and what happened, or maybe she is an outcast from the Noland Barbarians :) or there may be any nomber of rollplaying ideas :)
Just because all Orcs are evil dosnt mean that your Shoanti father didnt find a hurt young Orc female and took pitty on her and healed her up and they eventually fell in love and had a child and now you have your player character a loner outcast most places but accepted by your close relatives and your tribe. Maybe not the whole Quah but your emediate Tribe in the big Quah... and your Halforc is now a respected tribal Shaman (Druid) and...
Ah yes the Drow out of the Darkness character :) The Drizzt of the Shoanti :) My Dark and Brooding Shoanti Halforc Ranger/Figher fighting to prove himself to the Humans that he is not a threat to them, and then once he does, not careing to be accepted because he has those close and special friends :) and trouncing monsters with brutal efficency :) |
