I hate to jump on Lucian's bandwagon, but I've been pretty out of touch with this game myself. There's little direction being given as to what we're supposed to do, just some narrative blurbs that don't indicate what rolls (if any) are needed or what decisions are being asked of us. I tried to kickstart some response on that, and still everyone was all over the place and little direction has been provided as to how to implement the suggestions other made which seem to be more informed than mine.

I find myself hoping this is not the way these Traveller games usually go, as I can definitely say if this is in fact the way they are run, I've been turned off from this game and style tremendously.

Please also add me to the former players when possible.

Jagger spends most of his time in Engineering as expected but wanders the ship ever now and again making notes regarding where the various consoles and sensors are, the placement and access panels for the cameras and any of the other small electronics in case of emergencies.

During the long wait to arrive, he does occasionally pop into the bridge to observe how the crew is handling the ship and hopefully absorb some of their experience.

Once the ship has come closer and the current situation of the other two ships is apparent, Jagger activates comms to the bridge.

"So...should we try to circle around to the other side of the derelict and avoid the conflict, or should we jump and pick a side assuming they may be grateful for the assist?"

Jagger follows Lucian as he makes his way to the bridge.

After Lucian's announcement regarding the other ships, Jagger locates the feeds from their ship's cameras for the approximate coordinates in the void the ships should be and pops up two separate windows on the bridge display to monitor them if and when they come into visual range.

"For your convenience, Admiral," Jagger says trying to sound casual but probably still sounding like a Navy crewman trying to impress his commander.

Jagger appears a bit uncomfortable by all the luxury and showy opulence that surrounds them. He quietly tries to follow along with the discussion of what comes next, but as he's never really been in a position to make the kind of money which several of his new partners seem familiar, he doesn't even know what he can add.

His heart races as he tries to accept the idea actual wealth could come his way!

"I'll try not to drink too much water before bedtime." Jagger gives Lucian a wink.

Regarding Engineering, Lucian already has M-Drive covered, so I'm looking for opinions on what's next important:

• Manoeuvre Drive (M-Drive): Maintaining and operating a
spacecraft’s manoeuvre drive, as well as its artificial gravity.

• Jump Drive (J-Drive): Maintaining and operating a spacecraft’s
Jump drive.
• Electronics: All forms of computing hardware, sensors and
other electronics and electrics.
• Life Support: Covers oxygen generators, heating and lighting
and other necessary life support systems.
• Power: Maintaining and operating a spacecraft’s power plant.

I'm feeling Electronics or Life Support, but as I'm pretty green to Traveller, I'd love to hear all of your thoughts.

Honestly, I don't know what Jagger should be doing, so there's a post just to post something.

Having tailed Rion uneventfully back to the ship, Jagger boards and proceeds to do crewman things to assist with their loaner ship's departure. He gives an ear to the crew's internal comm channel in case any orders come his way. Otherwise he simply moves around the ship confirming various status indicators for different systems are green and no alarms are flashing red on any panels. He moves to a few different stations around the ship checking the exact same indicators and alarms on each display and records any differences between them (ideally they all show the exact same information).

Rion’s suggestion is a very useful investigator maneuver, and Jagger gives a quick nod. He nonchalantly follows Lucian outside leaving Rion to continue to draw attention and stall any potential tails until Jagger has had time to find a location to blend in and watch the exit to Nostromo Wok and Roll.

He glances around for signs there are already observers waiting for the crew to depart.

Is that Recon again?

I'll admit that Jagger is currently working off whatever point in the timeline Rion's last post is based (which technically still has him grasping Braun's hand). Assuming the GM's post moving Braun away from Rion, Jagger enters the scene.

I couldn't tell you how far in the future Axel is at this point.

Jagger moves beside Rion as they watch Braun retreat to a dark corner. "He really doesn't want to give up any details, does he?" he whispers only just loud enough to be heard over the ambient sound of the bar's patrons and/or overhead music. "Should we go ahead and do this?"

Being the new crew's junior member, Jagger allowed his seniors to handle the deal. He could feel himself immediately responding to the aura of authority the former admiral Axel Black exuded. While he didn't immediately snap to attention whenever the man looked at him, he instinctively sat up straighter, and he found himself having to consciously suppress the urge to salute.

Recon 8 v. (unskilled -3) + (Int +1) + (JoT 1): 2d6 - 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3, 4) - 3 + 1 + 1 = 6

He's concentrating so hard on not inadvertently making a fool out of himself he doesn't seem to pick up on what some of the others have noticed. When Braun abruptly pulls away, Jagger notices the other hungry eyes watching Braun and those eyeing the crew he has joined.

"Well, if this job was meant to be confidential, someone's getting fired.," he murmurs to the others.

A man in his thirties approaches. He has light brown hair and wears a long coat over his spacer clothes. He nods in recognition to Allen and Rion as he finds an open seat.

I apologize for being late. The line at registration was significantly longer than I expected.

Jagger's 2nd connection: It was discussed in the Discord a bit to perhaps involve Axel without being a connection and Rion for the connection, but since Axel's already RPing not knowing Jagger, I guess will just nix that part.

During the 2nd Navy term, Jagger's affair with a female superior officer (Sophia Renstrat, Lieutenant; started in the 1st Navy term) was discovered by his Rival (Jon Rebly, Petty Officer 3rd) who reported it resulting in Jagger's discharge. At some point, maybe Rion met Law Enforcement Agent Jagger during the investigation Rion's ex-partner's death.

He said "ex's death" in Discord, but never elaborated what kind of ex. :P

Traveller Skill Package:

  • Sensors 1
  • Comms 1
  • Gunner (any) 1
  • Gun Combat (any) 1
  • Persuade 1
  • Stealth 1,
  • Medic 1

    1. Jagger - Stealth 1
    2. Axel - Pilot (any) 1
    3. Rion - Gun Combat 1 (any)
    4. Lucian - Gunnery 1 (any)
    5. Allen - Sensors 1
    6. Jagger - Persuade 1
    7. Lucian - ??
    8. Allen - ??

Comms 1 & Medic 1 should remain if I got the adjusted choices correct.

Hmm…if Allen doesn’t want Pilot (any) 1, I’ll take it. Otherwise, I’ll take Persuade 1 for round 2.

  • Honestly just about any action movie out there, cops or otherwise seems to have this scene. :P

Just so it is clear you get those skills in the package as they are listed, they cannot be used to raise a skill. So Recon 1 is Recon 1 not Recon 1 +1 to recon 2.

If you haven't done so please read all the skills so you know what they do. Most are obvious but something that might be covered by perception but have 2 or more skills covering it in Traveller.

Well...that ends the Medic 2 dream. OK, as I already have Medic 1, I will have to choose something else:

Stealth 1 feels safe. Don't think I saw anyone dibs that yet.

Turns out it was dibs-ed! Choosing Sensors 1 instead.

@Allen Crawford: Given mine is a success and yours is an injury, perhaps your undercover operation reached its zenith and your cover was blown during the takedown. Jagger and his partner were investigating a murder which turned out to be related and ended up unexpectedly involved in discovering the larger issue (feels like almost every cop movie ever). Jagger's unintended appearance happens to be in the nick of time to save your life and get you out of the situation hence the accolades.

Naturally we walked away from the explosion wearing our sunglasses and didn't look back.

Sorry for being late. I wanted to be able to easily reference my prior term posts, so it was easier to keep that in Recruitment since they were all in the same thread. Plus I didn't want to post as my main alias, and I hadn't yet decided on a name or anything at the time.

Looks like I still need to come up with Connections. So significant events in my terms:

  • Term 1 - New romantic relationship
  • Term 2 - Ousted from the Navy by a Rival
  • Term 3 - Given advanced specialist training in Gun Combat
  • Term 4 - Investigation got hairy, but succeeded

Age 34, Former Navy NCO, Former Agent Sergeant:
    Characteristics:
    Strength (Str) 7 (+0)
    Dexterity (Dex) 8 (+0)
    Endurance (End) 7 (+0)
    Intelligence (Int) 11 (+1)
    Education (Edu) 9 (+1)
    Social Standing (Soc) 5 (-1)

    Skills:
    Carouse 0
    Computers 0
    Drive 1 (Wheeled)
Engineer 1 (some kind of specialty)
    Gunner 0
    Gun Combat 1 (Energy Pistol)
    Gun Combat 1 (Slug Pistol)
    Investigate 0
    Jack of All Trades 1
    Mechanic 1
    Medic 1

    Remote Operations 1
    Streetwise 1
    Survival 0
    Vacc Suit 0
    Zero-G 0

    Cash: Cr 25,000

As far as the Traveller package choices, unless we believe in spreading out the proficiency, I'm drawn to Medic to bump me to Medic 2 since it doesn't really look like we have a lot of that elsewhere.
