Description Ht: 3' 1" Wt: 28 lbs Age: 25 Horns: Arching Backwards Eyes: White with a touch of green around the iris Scales: Gold Standing slightly over three feet, Ixen is taller then all but the giants of his kind. His scales are a gleaming gold that appear smoother then they truly are. Another remarkable feature are his horns, impressive both for their size and length considering his age. He cuts a slim figure that seems skinny even for his people, rather it is the result of his muscles becoming lean beyond the norm. His graceful almost careful like movements mark this to those that can spot such things. Another oddity of Ixen is his favoring clothes. Covered in leather armor and traveling clothes he shows little of his body compared to most kobolds. Relying on more then his scales for protection and comfort, his style is simple and functional. His hood having holes for his horns while keeping his eyes shadowed. A close look at his boots show missing soles so that his bare scaled feet can feel the ground, a clear sign that the ways of his people have not been tossed aside.
Background:
Ixen Edar was born Ixen Blackhorn for while he had the common red scales of most Candlestone Cavern kobolds his horn buds were a deep black that did not fade with age and growth. Like many of the Black Claw kobolds his life was one of survival among his own, trapmaking, training, and mining. That was until he showed enough promise in training to catch the instructors attention. So he was excused from trapmaking and mining in order to sharpen his fighting abilities. Ixen did not disappoint, he showed skill. He was a fine shot and graceful with a blade in such a way that it rivaled the elites of the tribe. Still he was young and lacked experience so he was sent as a scout and rookie among the patrols. He proved well suited to this role for he had developed sharp senses that overshadowed the elites and his ability to hide and move silently was as well as theirs. Such did Ixen see himself joining the elites in time as a full member. But the elites did not welcome Ixen, they were envious of his rapid skill growth and youth. Feeling threatened by his rise they set him up to be discovered by a group of surfacers that had entered the caverns. To both the adventurers and the elites surprise Ixen survived and escaped the encounter to warn his tribe. Still the plans of the elites would not be undone to easily. After the adventurers were dealt with the entire group of elites blamed Ixen. They painted him a traitor that had been bribed by the surfacers to lead them to their home, how else could they have gotten so close undetected. While Ixen denied such claims and spoke truthfully, his word was one against many. So he was imprisoned in the Vault while the superiors thought over what to do with him. Ixen was no fool, he quickly figured out why the group had turned on him. As he awaited his fate he went over every bit of his life, all that he had done and had been to him. He found it lacking and empty, the Black Claw tribe favored it's chosen sons and daughters over those of merit and skill. They had become much like the surfacers they claimed to despise, yet still traded with vigor. It was then that he heard a whisper, not so much a sound as a thought. The Black Claw were not true to the ways of their people, a metallic glint then drew his attention. He focused on where he thought he saw it and noticed a strangeness in the wall of his cell, getting closer he clawed at it. Revealing a small, even by kobold standards, hole in the rock wall. Not thinking twice he threw himself into it, as luck would have it, it was a tunnel. He followed it, scrapping and squeezing through the earth for a time without counting. He did not know how long he had crawled or the distance, only that he could not stop. Even as his hands ached and bleed, his scales peeling off from jagged rocks and turns. He kept going until he broke out of the earth into a starry night on the surface. He laid where he dropped from exhaustion, it was not long that he awoke to dazzling light, he stumbled his way to the nearest shade. There oddly enough he found the remains of a halfling, the body was too far gone even for a kobolds impressive stomach but it's equipment remained. Most of it was as bad as the body but some was still useable, enough so he would not have to rely on his claws. Which for the first time he noticed were no longer the pitch black of those that survived the test of adulthood in the Black Claw tribe. In fact they were gold, he proceeded to examine as much of his own body that he could and found every bit of it was gold. He had no idea how or why his scales would change but had a sneaking suspicion it had something to do with that whisper in the cell. He felt the same so he just put the matter aside as a strange development. Armed with a few basic weapons and items, he quickly found food and shelter. When deciding what to do next he found a strange pull to the north. Thinking it was better then any other direction he headed there. Ixen followed the mountains until he found a pass, unknowingly moving into Isger. He could tell these lands were wild and dangerous, hiding himself during the day and moving at night was both more comfortable for him and safer. For less things had the keen eyes of a kobold in the dark and those that did would not have his stealth or highly tuned senses. What he quickly found was that this land was rife with goblins. The pest seemed to be everywhere when the pale moon rose. Kobolds and goblins did not get along, most goblins were just to dimwitted. But he found a unique advantage to following them as they raided many in the night. They never noticed that some of their number never returned from each successful raid, even if it was some time after the fact. He collected a fair amount of useful items and coin from them. He considered it fair trade to rid the world of a few more goblins. Still he felt drawn to the north and kept going that way as he picked on the goblins. It was only when he encountered them in league with hobgoblins that he left them along. He knew better then to try anything on the much more smarter and disciplined hobgoblins. As he traveled with much better equipment thanks to the goblins, he noticed a change. Not to much in the land but those that traveled it. He had moved into Molthune territory and their organized patrols and legions of men made Ixen both nervous and curious. During one of the rare times where he traveled during the day, a light rain and heavy overcast making it tolerable and slightly pleasant. He found himself come upon by a group of armed merchants. Thinking himself in a fight that could be the end of him, he was surprised when they simply bid him welcome as anyone else on the road. Finding the whole thing odd he stated as much, they pointed out that a lone kobold carrying goods on the road was hardly a threat to anyone and not completely unheard of in Molthune. In fact a number of creatures considered monsters in other places even served in Molthune's army. Ixen learned much from the merchants and bid them farewell after a few days. He was considering making Molthune his new home when that same urging to go north became stronger, not one to ignore his instincts when they served him so well he moved on. Finally after months he had arrived at a place where his constant urgings had seemed to stop. Lastwall as it was called, was the place that he was drawn to. He even made it to the capital city of Vigil where oddly enough outside the walls an elf was waiting for him. Knowing Ixen by name as well as appearance. While he was naturally suspicious of the elf, he did not sense any ill intent and it was only with the elf's help that he had such a smooth time of entering and moving about Vigil. Ixen learned that the elf had some sort of vision concerning him and that his god, to his surprise, was Apsu the waybringer. A draconic god that had helped him and seen his potential. Again Ixen, after his betrayal not to so long ago, was doubtful but the elf explained. Apsu only gave chances to those looking for them. He had done nothing for Ixen but granted him the opportunity, which Ixen had taken advantage of and accomplished on his own. So to would the elf give Ixen a chance to learn of Apsu, his ways, and become more then what he was if he so chose. Ixen had come to far to simply walk away and he would not ignore the notice of a draconic god in him. So Ixen went with the elf and joined the war college in the name of Apsu. A few years later he left Vigil, the power of his god with him and his training in the war college complete. It was time to test his skills, grow, and spread his gods will in the world. The worldwound was a taint of evil and chaos, a foreign corruption that twisted even reality. He journeyed to Mendev by way of boat to help in fighting the demons and ridding the world of such foulness. If he could convert a few people while he was there and enjoy himself at that festival, all the better. Magic Items:
