Second Seekers (Luwazi Elsebo)

Ivok stands to the side watching the group worried as Charlie explains the situation. "Each bit of what she is saying is true. We don't know what threw you into that nightmare or who the Vault Lord is, but know that we are willing to get you up and running again." He pumps his fist in the air, but doesn't have the same exuberance it did at the start of the mission.

"As much as I'm able I'll be willing to give you help, support you each with free workout sessions as I'm able. If not me, I know plenty of others who would be willing to lend a hand to help you recover and get back into the universe whether you are bound for the Pact, Veskarium, or into the Vast." After hearing himself the soldier gives another clap of the hands and a grin. Still somewhat forced but with no doubt he is willing to meet this challenge head on.

He follows up with the meeting to send out a message to his support asking, these are good people dragged out from their lives. If any aren't able to get off the starting line and back to their homes, I would like to see if we can find some work for them.

Ivok watches the ship and bares his fangs as it retreats. "As much as I want to run after it and tear it into myself right now, we need to focus on getting these people to safety."

His grip on his pike is at a peak as he barely holds himself from snapping it apart as he adds a thought through the telepathic link. And given how hard they were coming at them, as much as I would like to chase after that ship or the Vault Lord right now, I don't think we can protect these people and bring on the fight.

He gives side glances at most of the survivors and gives some congratuations to the Vesk for taking on the shots. After he pause he tells Nelli, "good work out there. Despite what you have been through your Starfinder training shines through."

It will be a long ride back to Vex. We should tell them where and when they are, projects to the telepathic link as a portion of his own guilt leaks through.

Quick reminder for the United Society from last round. It looks like Charli restored 10 SP and Quirk used it for bonus damage. Goose was out of range, but (unless I missed something) Neon and Rakdon can use the boon to restore SP equal to their level.

Hearing Neon's call Ivok deactivates his force soles follow the green drone to the ground with his jetpack. Still he pushes his body hard to match the speed of the drone before driving his freezing pike straight into the fragile machinery.

Using jetpack to fly adjacent to green drone (5 ft from ground). Using another RP on cardiac accelerator for additional speed (50 ft speed).

Seeing Charlie move to the miner in the back Ivok pushes himself to quickly make his way upwards into the air to threaten the other drones and strike them. As he does he gives a rallying call to the others to protect the survivors.

Spending 1 RP to increase speed to 50 ft. Climbing 15 feet into the air and ending up just 5 feet below the drones, drawing cryopike along the way. I should be threatening drones green and red and giving +1 to ranged attacks against them.

Using a sqift action to use the United Society boon. All allies within 60 ft (which I think includes everyone but Goose at the current position) gets to choose one of the following benefits right now.
1. Gain +2 morale bonus on all attack rolls and damage rolls until the beginning of my next turn. (This does not stack with Get 'Em)
2. Regain SP equal to your level (not mine, the level of the person choosing this).
3. Remove a single condition as per remove condition.

I'll be taking the +2 to attack and damage.

Just to confirm, does that mean you are moving me ahead of the drones for this fight, or ahead of "the world moves" and delayed me to the top of round 2 (in effect, making my healing action my action for this turn)?

If I do get my action now, I'll do the following:

Ivok pushes forward drawing his electric cannon and directing at the pair of distant drones. As he fires a powerful arcing shot through the air he taunts the drones, "if you are looking to take anyone you will have to take me down!"

Launching an attack with an explode weapon targeting the area with the yellow and green drone. This assumes I can target a mid-air intersection with an explode weapon. Second range increment, inclues -2 penalty

Attack Static Shock Caster: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 - 2 = 14

If I can't do that, I'm not certain what I should do. After the first round I'm concerned wandering too far away from the survivors if the drones are focusing on the survivors. Is there some action I could take to draw their fire?

Edit: Also another check to see if there I have more information about the drones beyond what Neon recalled.

After the calls of his allies Ivok is finally able to focus his attention on the combat coming down on him. Ivok gives a beleagered cry as he sees the drones lay down a stream of fire on the survivors. He steps off the ground as he runs along the air to get to the downed miner.

Drawing a serum to hand he doesn't afford himself hesitation as he injects the healing serum.

Healing Serum: 1d8 ⇒ 5

"Stand strong and keep behind cover!" commands Ivok as he helps the miner to his feet.

Ivok looks to the drones and tries to provide as much cover for the worker as he is able, but calls to the others, "can anyone lay down cover? Smoke? We can take own this and more, but we can't let the fire come down on them!"

Move drawing serum, standard to apply serum

I agree that it can feel better having them get some distance from the collapse. In that case going down the cliff (if viable), then making the run to the southern border of the map before running to the exit.

If they can't make their way down the cliff then the path is a bit clearer as they can only make their way south and then east to the exit.

I do have a teleportation puck available in case we need some fast transportation as it can carry me from one side of the map to the other. It only allows two people to travel along with me so it is only really viable if we can quickly move others in the group or some of them fall behind in some way.

He casts glances toward the drones in the distance. While he clearly wants to help them he forces himself to stay with the team and save those before him.

Working on post now, but what action would anyone else suggest right now? I'm divided between moving forward in an effort to try and capture one of the elves/dwarves and the option of running to the ysoki camp to help work on the machinery. I'm more tempted to do the latter, but I do know that Rakdon is still at the front of the party and if anyone is going to attempt to run and grab one of the attackers, I might be the best equipped to do it.

And I'm very happy about it as well. I think this is the most this boon has been used in my time playing Ivok. It is even probably the most I've seen it used at all running or playing in SFS. A bit shaken Ivok responds to Neon, "you hit it hard! No worries though. After getting struck by lightning enough times, it just felt odd to be not be hit by one for once."

I admit there are some bits that I've been missing in the descriptions. It has been moving fast as there seems to be a lot of development in the three turns I've had. For the combat I've been trying to open up a path to attack the siege machine directly, but that hasn't been working out well for me. Even then I don't even have a guess as to how severe the effect of the siege engine is (compared to anything else on the field).

In general I'm taking guesses at what I should be doing. The previous turn I was inclined to help fight the void hag, but since I was prone I opted to get an attack in this round rather than stand and move.

I'll be stretched out thin trying to deal with it and their forward line, I might need more of a hand to keep them from pushing forward. I don't want to give the soldier here any reason to set off their mines in middle of town.

He moves to deliver a set of devastating blows to the nearest of the injured with his fists and claws.

In that case Ivok has a few grenades on hand that might be able to slow and hinder the onslaught.

It might be great to have Nelli's support in combat, but thinking only of my own health I think Ivok can take some hits to start while Nelli helps secure data with aid another. I'm fine with the risk there and taking some HP damage to make sure this mission is more successful is fine with me.

It sounds like we can adjust positions if needed though. I could fall back if I'm taking too much damage and others might be able to take my position as it all works out.

The soldier fumbles with the comm and only sends a short message to Vex. Unknown attackers approaching Buyer's Remorse under the command of the Vault Lord. Setting up to repel attack.

Ivok is out of the front doors and into the barrack grabbing gear. He tosses any stowed weapons he can manage to his allies before moving out to the front.

"I'll be on the front lines and try to hold them as long as I'm able. I won't be able to tell if I'm pulling more weight than I can bear until they first hit, but hopefully I can give some of you a chance to pull more information during this mess or make sure we keep the people here safe."

For another bit of physical evidence there was the holoprojector component that Quirk identified in the barracks.

@Rakdon, while we did it as a group as the characters providing evidence it can be helpful to reiterate the evidence to provide a convincing arguement. Like in a detective story, when the mystery is revealed the evidence is highlighted and repeated then and there even if some of it might have been more obvious to you watching it.

Charlie has already described the VR parlor, but every character would describe it differently and that can bring some life to a game even if we were all provided that same information here on through the posts. When Charlie described the parlor and it felt like did so in a way that called out the parlor as another way to entrap the people in the town while denying them real experiences. If Ivok were to have described them, he would have focused on the lack of physical resistance or challenge to drive the users to improve. For me both presentations are perfect for the character. It doesn't need to be a lot and it is isn't necessary to do a lot in a lot of cases. For the VR parlor example it would be only a few sentences either case.

GM Aerondor also asked if we had any questions for Governor Shipbreaker. We hadn't asked much from here in this round, but if there is a question you think she can answer that could also be useful

She might be able to answer more questions about the attackers or provide the messages she has received from the Vault Lord on request. We don't know if the Governor's troops have taken any prisoners.

There also might be answers to if we were curious to how the town ever gets shipments. If the "base in the sky" has ever given support in recent memory.

I think any question might be good since it can help reveal more about the situation here.

I hope this "Vault Lord" and whatever threw these people here were the same. This is already a big enough struggle for me to grasp only one new challenger here we know nearly nothing about. I rather not try visualizing this as two or more different groups threaten this town.

Ivok is both disappointed and oddly relieved that Enktuya hasn't seen through the simulation as of yet. He was hoping the matter would have been easier to deal with, but he takes a bit of comfort with the bits of evidence he had prepared rather than trying to make up an complete argument on the spot. For the moment he acknowledges Vex on that being a good idea and leaves suggestions for that to others for a moment as he responds to the Governor.

Ivok does nod with agreement on the governors description of vesk on Akiton. "It is true light clothing like that would help, along with regular hydration. Still those aren't even irregular uniforms. They are costumes for the holoshow Krall’s Oasis. Yours has the cast list written on the back. The Veskarium honors warriors, but not by listing them out on military clothing."

Directing himself from the clothing and pointing back toward the town proper Ivok continues, "and walked into the cantina that Triss-5 runs. It made neither me nor the miners comfortable to have me over their shoulders, but it gave me a chance to hear the music. I can tell you there is nothing new there. It is all rehashed music from outside this place. As a content creator that would drive me mad by itself if not for ... well ... everything else here."

Thinking another few moments Ivok sighs and seems to debate for a few moments before telling the party, I'm sorry for this. It might not work and I doing this, but I can't hold myself back for fear of hurting my pride.

He returns his focus to Shipbreaker as he announces, "Speaking of that content. You might know me as IVOK DRACUSK from Pumping Adamantine!" Ivok takes a step back before taking several dramatic musclar poses as he continues, "It might be a distant memory even if this place hasn't CRUSHED IT TO ATOMS, but many watched my shows and used my training to HONE THEMSELVES! Tap into their dormant POWER! If any memory of me still exists, you should know I look far younger than I should if this is truly over three decades over the fall of the Pact Worlds. My training would let me MAINTAIN VIGOR as I aged, but not this well. This is still the year 320!" Ivok tries to aggressively play his gambit to call upon his fame. All the while hoping Shipbreaker had even been aware of him outside the simulation. The entire time the icon tries to push back any embarrassment from this display as he powers through.

Ivok watches his immediate arguments get crushed under the weight of the cog, the declaration of the 'Vault Lord', and a far more blatant reference to the holoshow on the Shipbreaker's clothing. It takes him a moment to catch back up before responding to Neon Ten. It is hard to tell what she knows, but she has more information on from the attackers than we expected. Her response is already better than I hoped. In the Veskarium if a commander finds you suspicious you are often thrown into a cell or restrained.

"We got sent here to investigate after seeing a lot of information pass through your messaging system. We are working to investigate those signals and now what is happening in this ... town. Before you mentioned it just now, we haven't heard the name 'Vault Lord'. At this point I want to make sure that everyone in this town is safe and sound."

"Where we come from is more complicated and, with no intended derespect to your station," Ivok states as he his years of respecting Vesk authority come to mind, "but involves asking you what planet you think you are on and asking about that clothing you are wearing. No disrespect to your station, but that might be the clothing of a leader, but is not the standard garb of a Veskarium governor."

I think I heard one of the guards say the governor was a he, but I'm going to be honest that I could misremember it. This isn't a role I'm used to and I'll be lucky if that is the only thing I lost my grip on.

As he recalls what the party has found over the last few hours Ivok unconsciously begins stretching his arms as the party moves forward. As for evidence, I've been able to pull a few small portions up around here. All the vesk here are dressed in military gear along with holoshow costumes. The show might be more than thirty years back in their mind, but they still might recall that past all the mind bending this place has been doing.

The music in the cantina too. It was made from music we have now. It isn't strong evidence, but might be able to give us a bit more leverage if we can get them to recall the original music.

Ivok shakes his head in frustration and growls considering what to tell the Governor if this fabricated town. I almost want to yell and scream at everyone here with the evidence. Even Nelli wasn't jumping to our pitch to her before and I imagine Shipbreaker will be even a harder to convince. We will have to convince him at some point if we are going to make any safe extraction of more than a handful of people. If we just try to lead people out of here and remove all support for the garrison, that plan will run head-on into laser fire. If there is anyone we need to believe us, it is Shipbreaker.

Noting the others and especially the holoprojector and the shrine Ivok continues, we have gathered some bits here and there I think we could use, but unless he is open minded and willing to believe us over his Veskarium reports, we may be better off climbing a sheer wall face.

After another sigh and restraining himself from swinging at the air Ivok offers with some resignation, there are other ways we can run this track. If it was just me I would be honest and upfront because my lies carry no weight and my threats don't have any bite. Your voices have a long more power behind them than mine though here.

You did mention checks within the cantina, I'm not sure if I'm able to attempt them myself given the concerns a vesk might draw.

Ivok is too thrown off trying to keep pace with the conversation about beetles saying, "I have never thought about a favorite type of beetle. I'll say that any beetle not firing lasers or arcing with electricity are at the top of my list."

"It is because if you put good into yourself you get good out! The better you treat your body the better you feel and the better your body works. I'm more worried about someone obsessed with not fitness! Gigigentenk, what sort of exercises do you do here? Is there gym or ..." Ivok pauses as he begins to throw himself into that hole and tries to interrupt his questions by offering suggestions to the rest of the team.

For Quirk and Goose, I don't think we are half way to pulling off the weight this mystery here. It sounds like the infosphere this place was making, if there ever was one, was taken down in a rough way. If you can connect to what remains of it though, maybe we could find answers to figure out when this really started. If Nelli has been only in here a few months and she thinks she has been in here thirty years, something is working these people over.

Talking to with people or using what we know about Yon might help with that as well. We might figure out where these people came from.

With a bit more thought on the matter, Ivok sends out a message to Vex asking, I'm not sure what records you keep, but do you know of any local ships that may have gone missing. One carrying any cast any crew who worked on Krall's Oasis?
