Iniga v'Breda's page

In character, that makes sense, but ooc I'd rather not. That probably leads Iniga to push leads or things in a direction that Iniga wants to persue and might not align with other goals people have. I'm uncomfortable being a strong voice in that regard. Also, probably not a *great* idea when I'm averaging about a post per week :S

I'm taking some annual next week so I'm hoping the reset will allow me to rejig my schedule some and find a better balance. Currently I'm just coming home and falling asleep so things are sliding a bit atm

"I'm fine for us to check the wellbeing of the Happy Swords. They had a limited amount of the mixture so I'm uncertain if the whole company would be affected but I guess it doesn't hurt to check."

Drat

"Maybe there isn't enough time for a proper spar, but how about a quick one on one wrestle. Single round, winner take all?" Iniga asks the drake. If Karoff accepts, Iniga charges, hoping to hurl the drake out of bounds, exactly how he had handled the two oreads earlier.

STR check (Raging Song + Strength Surge): 1d20 + 6 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 7 = 32

Iniga walks up to Karoff, not really as intimidated as she should be after her last few strength bouts with the dragon."You wouldn't be talking about me would you Karoff? You know that I'm available for a sparring match whenever you want to go a few rounds" the skald responds as she watches the two oreads fight, challenging the dragon.

GM didn't Tomas Crosso tell us everything he knew about Efreeti Tango?

"In a moment cousin" Iniga responds to Wamblee's remarks, refocusing her attention on the old el. "You know what the vials contain? What are the ingredients? How easy are they to obtain?"

Iniga frowns for a moment at the mention of an inquisitor before letting the el go, dusting herself off as she does so. "Personally, I'd recommend you tell us if you get any more business from the v'Apor family . In the meantime, keep little visit to yourself and maybe we can find a way to ensure some more legitimate business comes your way in future."

Probably should be rolling Diplomacy here but Iniga is angry and upset about what's has actually happened to real Margherita who was a good friend.

Iniga rolls her eyes in frustration, grabs the el by the upper arm and slams him into the nearby wall. "I dont give a damn about your stoppers. Someone came by pretending to be my friend, lied to me, and then tried to kill me and my friends. So now I don't know what happened to my actual friend, or where she is and you are standing here, complaining to me about stoppers".

Iniga pauses for breath for a moment before continuing with exaggerated calm. "So, why don't you tell me everything about those little glass vials you sell with yellow liquid or so help me, I will give you something to complain about."

Intimidate: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39

"I doubt that whatever it was had access to her mind. If it did, she wouldn't have tried to flee when I raised...inconsistencies on her story. I don't think we need a specific code to know who is who if we stick together - which is probably a wise strategy regardless. I think we should go to the enchanter's shop and check it out. It seems likely that it would have been the place 'Margherita' might have taken us to be her 'witch'" Iniga responds, thoughtfully thinking things through.

Iniga waves Phon away with a simple gesture "I should be fine, I don't believe that I have suffered any injury"

Taking a brief moment to compose herself, Iniga rapidly pulls her brain into gear "We should search her. Its plausible that we might have asked for proof of Grico's treachery. Regardless, she had a plan to hoodwink us, possibly to lead us into a trap. We should probably try and find it what that is, and perhaps turn the situation to our advantage."

"Well aren't you an ugly thing?" Iniga remarks conversationally as a red hand reaches out, trying to avoid any ill effects from the creature itself.

If I fail then I'll probably trigger Saving Finale and roll again.

Init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Iniga reacts lighting fast. She doesn't want to strike out at Margherita - not at least until she had figured out what was going on, but she didn't want her escaping. She swiftly moves to block the Captains route to the exit, drawing her blade as she does so.

"No, I don't think you should leave. Take a seat and explain to me what happened. The Margherita I know doesn't flee at the first sign of trouble."

Unclear if I have a spare move action remaining after blocking her path. If I do, I'll trigger Raging Song but if I don't have any actions left I'll save it for next round.

Iniga smiles at Margherita's jest. "Ah of course, its always important for me to look my best as I punch someone" she smiles. Her expression darkens though at Margherita's news.

"You do realize that we knew he was serving the Tango before correct? I asked him to sell me out to the Tango so that they would continue to think him loyal, and so they would remain focused on me. The idea was that I would hold their attention, and that he would continue to pass information on them back to me. We had already identified two or three Tango, and a few more sympathizes. Thats why I asked you to return to the city yes? To keep an eye on him. I believe I paid one hundred shields as part of this deal?" she remarks, folding her arms and looking sternly at Margherita.

Couple of questions for the GM

GM - status of the Hand? I believe some trails were originally scheduled to unlock further aspects before we restarted this and wasn't sure if I had since made progress in the last week or so I have been in the city.

Also whats the status of the Council / Blessed? Seems like they were happy for the Blessed to take care of everything w/ Moon before and now they want to send an army after roughly a week or so?

Also - do I have access to my upgraded Infuse Self forms as well? As referred to in this post?

Lastly - whats the topic of conversation here? I'm happy to lead it (people seem to be looking at Iniga for it) but why have I called this meeting exactly? As you have mentioned there has been no significant change in the last week or so (such as being unsuccessful in finding Efreeti Tango) so why have I borught everyone together?

Apologies, forgot to dot the gameplay and missed the updates!

Iniga wakes, making herself look presentable via her Prestidigitation spell, before dressing for the mornings activities. She delays heading down for a full 30 minutes, and busies herself with morning exercises.

The exercises were not something she normally found the time to do - a relic of her pre-army days, but they kept her fit and healthy, and Iniga decided that routine was worth considering. She had had reason to draw her weapon often enough in the past weeks and with Moon in the sky - there was potentially more of a reason to continue to do so.

Iniga finishes up, and then heads down the stairs, spotting everyone grouped and huddled on conversation. "Good Morning Cousins" she remarks to both Samen and Wamblee before warmly embracing Margherita "And you as well bellissima, its nice to see you again." she smiles before spotting Osna and nodding formally. "Osna, its been a while since we last met - I didn't realise you knew Margherita as well. I'm very glad you were able to join us here" she continues, her gaze flicking toward Phon curiously.

I'll have Iniga respond to A just briefly because its kinda central to how she operates.

So background - Iniga is a Red Tongue Skald. Basically, its her role to keep an eye on the relationship between the Army and the Temple, so that no-one goes ahead and tries to make a power play or something. Recently, her role was expanded to keep an eye on other lands (oread / undine / sylph) to make sure there isn't any interference or disruption going on which is why she has been roaming around significantly.

Its technically a secret group that she is part of - but not a massive secret. Its just harder to do her role if everyone acts on her best behavior around her.

Anyway, so this means that technically Iniga doesn't hate the Inquisition or the Temple. It just so happens that some of them seem to be a part of this Efreeti Tango organization that tried to start a war between the oreads / ifrits. If there was a similar group in the Army, Iniga would be just as pissed.

I think Iniga is hated by some high ranking Inquisitors / Temple members though, because as a Skald (and arcane caster), she can Spell Kenning divine magic - meaning some spells that would be exclusive to the Temple are not for Iniga. so while Iniga doesn't really hate the Temple, I doubt she has any friends there.

Anyway the fall of the Inquisition probably troubles Iniga because its unlikely to help the fight against the Dark. Like, by the sound of it some / most of them were corrupt or tainted so it sounds like it had to happen, but equally its not a good thing that it happened (if that makes sense).

As for the Blessed - Iniga is kinda skeptical. It sounds like they have their heart in the right place but fundamentally they seem to worship Lawful gods - and the city seems to be in a pretty big mess at the moment or at least it doesn't seem stable. So, she doesn't hate them, but doesn't approve as to how they have run things so far. Thinks that there might be common ground though and wouldn't mind working alongside them if we had a shared goal.

Looking at the big six items, Iniga really wants a Headband of alluring Charisma +2.

The Runes of Old Coven / Runes of Old Faith are a little out of her price range at the moment, so if I was looking at purchasing any other items, I'd probably look at a Circlet of Persuasion, and a Gauntlet of the Skilled Maneuver (Dirty Trick). The Circlet, Gauntlet, and Headband bring me up to about 21,000 gp.

Iniga has access to Geography, Nobility, Local, and Religion knowledge skills. Nature is probably the main knowledge skill that we are missing I think.

Iniga bounces around / travels quite a fair bit. Technically, she was/is a sort of spy that was in charge of keeping an eye on any domestic unrest. For example, if a bunch of ifrits were causing trouble somewhere, she would head out to investigate. Currently she's off on her own sort of mission - trying to unite the races together against the Dark. Probably long term she wants to be political in Heath (her home) but that might be beyond the current scope of the campaign.

Also like Samen I'm kinda under WBL as well. I'm roughly at 9K.

Iniga shrugs at the sylph ele."Feel free to tell Captain Dove that if he feels jealous at the lack of attention then he is welcome to approach me directly about a beneficial arrangement - but up until now all I have heard are warnings or threats. He should know how the game is played and now he can choose to act offended at the slight or offer a better opportunity. Sending a messenger to make his threats for him doesn't raise my esteem of him though."

Iniga glares at the dragon. "You aren't fully grown yet though are you? Until then, take heed of your arrogance. It is our experiences that make us strong, not just size." she mutters before relenting the pressure on the dragons atm.

"Seeing as you dont yet understand that, I'll give you some advice. You need allies in this city and on this council. I'm sure some elens are furious that they were passed over in favor of someone not from here and I'm equally sure that the Blessed have made enemies. While they are gone, I'm sure someone will attempt to make the most of the opportunity. From what I see, I think you are still coming to terms with your new role which makes you vulnerable. I don't mean you any harm or ill will, but I would recommend that you surround yourselves with people the Blessed trusted closely - at least you can be sure those friends are reliable."

[ooc]At the Inn

Iniga glances at the sylph asleep on the table with narrowed eyes. The fake drunk routine had put her a little more on edge than usual. "Sure, what is the message that the Council has for me exactly?" she enquiries.

I'll respond to Karoff and then move on in a bit. I moved house this week so I was a little stressed and didnt have much time to post. Working on getting my internet set up tomorrow and see what I can do about my posting then.

I don't know really.

Iniga right now is on the hunt for the Efreeti Tango. Spending a month in the city without success is undoubtedly a failure on her part - especially when they seem to only be active within the city.

On the other hand, handwaving it kind of ruins her personal quest. So I cannot really think what to do.

I agree with a lot of Samen's points. Even when we were in Light though Iniga wasn't really doing anything of note - it was more of a narrative drive for Samen & Wamblee - Iniga just drifted for most of the Light storyline.

Right now, Iniga is concerned with the coming apocalypse thats being driven by Moon / Dark and is trying to form alliances to prepare for whatever happens next - the Efreeti Tango thread she is chasing is connected to this. There was also the Fey corrupting Oreads via Gem Magic action point she planned to get to after she had tidied up. I agree with Samen though that it does feel that an elemental apocalypse is on the way.

Iniga's eyebrows meet as she frowns in irritation. Her tattoos glowing again, she shoves the table forward like a battering ram, aiming to piledrive the dragon off his chair and into the dirt.

Basically attempting another strength check by shoving the table to knock him down since we are not in a circle anymore

Iniga stands over the dragon before kneeling and putting a knee on his chest. "Thats twice you underestimated me and that twice that you ended up flat on your back. I didn't wrestle you for information, I wrestled you before you issued a formal challenge as a condition of speaking to me - which you still are. Besides, don't play coy with me. No doubt you converse with the Blessed and others all the time and I doubt anyone needs to prove themselves each and every time by putting you on your ass. So show me, a little respect please instead of asking me to prove myself each time. People are watching don't forget - it doesn't do to see you bested over and over again.

Ah, you are an emissary of Volcano? That would mean that you would know all about the Efreeti, their king, and why Volcano exiled them correct?" Iniga asks curiously. She had received the information she was after, but she was greatly interested in whether the dragon had access to any knowledge she wouldn't otherwise get.

Iniga smirks at the dragon. "It seems that you really have no idea about what you are getting yourself into - challenging me to a strength contest"

Iniga concentrates, before unleashing her Song of Strength, tattoos flashing as she shoulder charges the dragon with all the strength she can summon.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 + 3 + 6 = 36

Boom.

"Now, about what I said about the Blessed and their friends and allies" she remarks, peering at the dragon after her show of strength.

Iniga watches the dragon with a hooded gaze. "I do hope that you understand that strength is more than just physical might alone - for instance, even I'm stronger than I look."

Considering things for a moment, Iniga makes a deduction. "I presume that by Uncle you mean one of the Blessed? I have information that they should know about. They might not be here, but I'm willing to bet that they have friends and allies that are. Can you tell me who these people are and where I might find them?"

Bluff: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

Iniga probably just tries to bluff her way into an informal meeting. Since some of the guards might not have been present during the Council meeting - I can claim that I have things to discuss. Or I could always charm my way past the guards but Bluff / Intimidate is more her style

Left to my own devices, I'd probably check the place out now with Iniga - because I'd rather strike quickly just in case. If Samen is out though, then I'll probably go see the Dragon council member (probably privately rather than a formal session). I want to talk to him about the Blessed

Iniga raises her eyebrows "I'm not murdering him, and its not like he can come with us either. I'd rather we all go to check the place out rather than splitting us up. If hes betrayed us, then he knows that he has nowhere to hide from me. If its cleared out, then there will be evidence of this. We know who most of the ringleaders are anyway, its just a matter of proving it or just letting the Blessed know so they can do another purge - they are certainly popular enough with the people to get away with that sort of thing."

I dont trust him much, but I dont see him as a prisoner either. I'm fine with letting him go

"Samen, I took a chance on letting you gain access to Crosso and this sort of magic. Don't screw it up and make me regret that decision" Iniga sighs somewhat grumpily, disapproving of Abby's remarks. She hadn't really proven herself as a stable elemental so far and she didn't really like the idea of her getting any stronger considering her habit of randomly murdering people.

"Crosso, if she show me where it is, then they know you told me, which probably wouldn't be a great plan. Instead, why don't you tell me where it is, so that I can go check it out without anyone being more suspicious than normal. Sound fair?"

Apologies, the media blew up a story for the sake of a quick headline. Triggered a knee jerk response so my week was all about research and auditing and proving that there was nothing there.

So I'll be a little bit busy but I don't think it will be too bad. I have something that gets closed off last week of November, another thing closed off first week of December, and then I'll move apartments the following week. I can probably still manage a post every couple of days but I'll just be posting at a slightly slower rate than normal until I can pull things together.

When in the room.

Iniga observes Crossio carefully, keeping her arms folded slightly "I have all the normal questions someone in my position might have. Who is involved with the Efreeti Tango? How many members or affiliates does it have? Who is currently leading it? Where are the members meeting or conrigating for these rituals? What is the goal behind the organization? What is it trying to achieve? What is the purpose behind binding efreeti to its members? How has that process been carried out? Do any of the Council members know about Efreeti Tango? Do any of the Blessed?"

Iniga pauses for a moment before smiling "As I said, the usual questions. Answer what you can."

"That will do", Iniga replies shortly before holding out her hand "Hand it over, and you can go" she finishes, before opening the scroll case.

Iniga frowns as she looks at the el "Why are your eyes so bloodshot? What exactly have you been up to?" she asks curiously. She doesn't really feel it necessary to interrogate the el but she wasn't sure why he looked so disheveled

GM I believe we met with the Temple during fourteenth candle, and was told that the document would be signed within the candle and delivered to me. Its now the sixteenth candle. Am I to understand that the Archpriest has reneged on his promise and that Iniga needs to go raise hell :)

"I'll be happy to enjoy some of your wife's cooking Duke, I'm sure its just as lovely as the last time I had a meal here. If I could first have a bit of a private moment though? My friends and I just want to have a quick chat, clear some things up and then sit down to enjoy a meal in earnest. I'd prefer to have time to spare to savor the food" she quips before raising an eyebrow. "By the way, did anyone leave a message or parcel for me? I was expecting someone to drop something off for me here."

"I still think the inn works fine for now - there isn't really going to be a perfect space for this sort of discussion"

Iniga sighs a little "No active experimenting Samen - at least when your experiments so far have been trial and error. Still, if Crosso doesn't talk and give up some answers, then perhaps I'd be a little more open to the idea. Sound fair Crosso? You tell me what I need to know and in exchange you avoid Samen's big stick?"

Iniga watches Dove go, a thoughtful look on her face before shrugging to herself. Spotting Samen arrive, she turns to him. "It went well enough, I'll need to see the Archpriest's signature to be certain, but all signs point to the proposed alliance being successful - at least until the Blessed likely return and complain about it. Crosso here seems to have some efreeti elements though, so I'm going to talk to him about Efreeti Tango - I'd like to be able to unravel a bit of that conspiracy - not that I could tell Dove, a Temple Guard about it."

Iniga is a little surprised at the softball type of question. "I came to Hearth to set up the alliance - and before you jump in about your cynical nature - I never said I was entirely altruistic either. The alliance is good for ifrits and its good for me as well. Having a hand on creating a stable alliance between ifrits and oreads is nice if you want to raise your profile."[b/] Iniga remarks casually, raising an eyebrow at the man. [b]"Did that answer your question, or did you require more clarification on my response?"

"He's right you know" Iniga quips in response to the sylph captain's remarks, directing her words at the guard in front of her.

She waits till the rest of the guards stand down before returning the bow that Captain Dove had given her, flashing an amused smile. "Anyone who can slip in a backhanded compliment so smoothly into a conversation is granting a small boon Captain Dove. I'll grant your request and answer your question truthfully. What was it you wanted to ask me?"

Who needs to threaten him when I can tell him the truth :P

Iniga eyeballs the man. The trick was to not look intimidated despite his hand close to the hilt of his sword and instead look confident. In her experience, it sometimes caused hesitation, or at least a little bit of uncertainty.

"What does it look like? I'm restraining this priest. Moments ago he was the source of a disturbance when a clawed arm reached through his chest and burned my friend here. Wamblee, you can show this man your wound if you like."

Iniga folds her arms and continues "So, I restrained the man to hopefully prevent whatever it was inside him from getting out and rampaging through the area. Quite frankly, you lot should be thanking me, I could have probably chosen to cut him down in self defense if I felt that way."

Smiling brightly, Iniga looks at the man. "You might not believe me, and thats perfectly fine. I'm happy to cast truth detection magic right here in front of everyone and loudly retell the story. I would have thought though, that you would prefer the words 'corrupted priest' to be kept off the record. We all know how the Blessed and their allies tend to react to those sort of things don't we?" she finishes in a pleasant tone.

My thoughts are with you Wamblee. I had a test last week but everyone ended up coming back negative. It’s still a bit of an anxious (and sometimes lonely) wait. Take care and I hope you feel better soon.

Iniga flexes her shoulders slightly, before releasing her Raging Song, not finding a need to engage it for longer considering the Efreeti slinking away. Spotting the Temple Guard coming her way she makes a beeline for them, seeking to address them head on.

"Ah, slightly late perhaps but its nice to see the Temple Guards arrive on expected schedule. There was a bit of a disturbance caused by this priest here. My cousin and I are fine and largely unharmed, but we think its probably best if we get Crosso checked out and perhaps some medical attention. So thank you for stopping by but really, I'm fine, and we have this under control" Iniga responds doing her best to project authority into her tone.

I'm proceeding that Ifrits have some sort of clothing that is naturally heat resistant. Something that Iniga is probably wearing so that she doesn't have to change clothing each time she triggers Rage Song and her fiery aura.

Iniga glances at the claws and establishes whether they could still bind the priest with rope. If they could restrict him, perhaps forcing the claws down so that it couldn't snap any bindings they might be able to ensure that the priest couldn't escape. The heat might be a problem, but Iniga figured she could rip part of her outfit and wrap some of the material around the rope to prevent it burning.

"Stand down Efreeti, there is no threat to you here. Likewise Crosso cease your struggling least it get worse" she commands in a firm voice.

If the theorycrafted strategy above doesn't work, Plan B is just to punch this guy repeatably in the face until we knock him unconscious. Sometimes the low tech response still works.

Iniga immediately leaps after Wamblee, moving quickly as follows up in support. As she moves, she immediately triggers her Raging Song ability granting both her and Wamblee increased strength and vitality.

Raging Song is in effect which gives Wamblee +2 Str and +2 Con. It also gives Wamblee the benefits of Lesser Beast Totem and Strength Surge 1/ per rage (+7 on a STR check or Combat Maneuver check)

Iniga shrugs at Crosso's remark. "It went pretty well all things considered. It was actually you I was a bit worried about, your movements today seemed a little...restrictive. You looked a little sore right about...here" she observes, innocently poking Crosso in the chest, roughly where she had seen Efreeti Tango marks on the earlier priest.
