Background:

Ichabod comes from the numerous, diverse, and farflung Carbuncle clan with members populating every one of the Thirteen Kingdoms welcoming to gnomes. Ichabod apprenticed to a master alchemist at a young age and quickly became enamored by dramatic alchemical reactions. To his master’s surprise, Ichabod’s reactions were more powerful than their alchemical ingredients would suggest. Eventually, the two of them worked out that Ichabod was intuitively tapping into powers in his bloodline to enhance the reactions. Deeply concerned, the master alchemist hurriedly finished Ichabod’s training and threw Ichabod out of his shop in Chilthen.

With a little coin and his quick wit, Ichabod talked his way onto a ship bound for the Order of the Righteous Trinity. He had heard the Order employed members with diverse talents and sought his fortune there. His ability to combine alchemy and magic won him a place in the lower ranks. These skills and his silver tongue earned him several promotions, eventually reaching the rank of Monsignor.
