Hurik nods as if understanding, though in truth he would admit there is much he does not know, "Better from Grandfather Winter than a dragon's heart, of that I have no doubt. I am nervous of this storm you speak of, but I trust YOU so..." A thin smile, "Let us move on, and put your new gifts to the test"

In his time before they began, Hurik did see to his family, and others of the tribe. Word would spread of Ardissa's folly, but even more so, Hurik would praise Harbinna! "She should have fled perhaps, should have withdrawn, but she stood nearby despite the danger to lend us her tongue which ended the fight more justly. It is not my place to say, but I feel she should be seen as Broken Tusk proven. As far as I am concerned, she is welcome at my family's fire not just as one who travels along, but is one of us." Quote:
Hurik nods, "We should bring tribute, the sweetest of grasses, fine beadwork to show the skill of our crafters, and the like if we can. To appease Svarstik neither may work, but they cannot hurt." And if he can find such in camp he does, if he cannot, they make do. Either way, he too is soon ready. And he takes lead.

Okay, updated to level 3! Ironicly, I got the Pick up the Pace Feat...which may now be redundant but it made too much IC sense :) You lead by example and can help others push themselves beyond their normal limits. When Hustling in a group during exploration mode, your group can Hustle for up to 20 additional minutes, to a maximum of the amount of time the character with the highest Constitution modifier could Hustle alone.

"Now that she has her goods taken from her but the basics...We should look through her things see if there is some way she had to return the stone to flesh. Perhaps she turned her trophies back using the statuary to cart them first?"

If he sees Ardissa about to head towards the Burning Mammoth tribe, he sighs and tries to stop her, hoping Harbinna will translate "Do not go that way. There are some there who would surely kill you or worse if you continue on that path." And he tries to redirect her in a third direction where she might avoid. It is one thing to expect her to learn to hunt to survive, it is another to send her to the belly of the best. If she ignores his warning and goes that way anyway, he shakes his head and does not stop her. You cannot make a fool see mercy even when it is right before them some days.

A look towards Miriani, then a nod "I rather like that, Miriani. We should make sure she hears that as translation. Let us leave her some clothes, Footwear, and a spear. We tell her that if she is the hunter she thinks she is, she will be able to hunt, not for sport, but food. She is to leave our mammoths alone regardless. These are harsh but sacred lands, not a playground for spoiled ivory seekers." Seeing the enemy has dropped her rapier he picks it up.

Hurik snorts as he hears Harbinna's translation of Ardissa's attempted (but he suspects false) humility "A moment, Harbinna, do not translate our discussion until we have decided, please?" He looks to his compatriots, "Her coins mean little in these lands. But the blankets and supplies of her and her fallen comrades might go well to aiding the broken tusk. FRANKLY, I'm tempted to have one finger removed from her dominant hand ... both to hinder her bow shooting so she cannot hunt for 'sport' so casually... and as a reminder that if she ever returns we'll take her life entirely. But I am angry now and perhaps my anger clouds my thinking. She misuses her magic. Perhaps one of you could sense if she has talismans or the like? That too might help us survive. What do you all think?"

DM Doctor Evil, Would it be too late to change Hurik's alignment from Chaotic good to Neutral Good? I seem to be playing him as less individualistic and more team and community oriented. I mean, sure when the 'dragon' is on him, he goes full jerk mode but that's for flavor ;)

not sure if Haughty obstinacy trait helps here or not.
Assuming it doesn't, Will Save is: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 SO close Hurik snaps "She's bewitched me!" He raises his weapon for another swing, then hears their halfling friend translate, "Again with coin she wishes to pay, again with her being free of any real consequences." Thought is not natrual to him while raging, and the White Dragon Curse whispers to him many horrible and amusing suggestions of what to do to this insulting woman. Insults will not be borne! Cold frost seems to leak from his nostrils Break her! Break her back but leave her alive to squirm! But some part of him wants to cut through the rage. His friends are here... and his cold green eyes lose their cruelty as he drops the rage. Wise or not, he will not let the Dragon curse decide someone's fate after they surrender.
Rage dropped "This woman still thinks our honor and our respect can be purchased and she be on her way. I do not think she will learn ANYTHING from that. Tell her to drop the spell on me." He asks their translator, who has proven brave enough to stay when he told her to run and thus gained his respect even more, "Tell her to try no more tricks, and WE will decide her fate. Tell her, if the curse of the dragon were still on me, I would break her spine, not so she died, but so she could not move save to pull herself by arms alone by the snow. Tell her I will not do that now, but if she makes me call on my curse again by trying to trick us; I WILL kill her. Tell her to disarm, quickly." He gives Ardissa a look, and raises the bloody head of it, where Ardissa 's own blood has already turned into a sanguine yet icy coat. He is not poised to strike, but he hopes his message is clear. Intimidation on Ardisa, last bard bonus included: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Hurik focuses on the kill.
Then his maul arcs up for another blow
And whether she dies or not, he tries a third... strategy is not on his mind when the dragon cruelty is on him.
"I think I'll take YOUR teeth as a trophy, a FINE Display!"

DM DoctorEvil wrote: Almost to 1000 gameplay posts! Well done! WOOT! I'm rather enjoying this AP overall. The situation our player characters and the Broken Tusks are in is really good for a sense of investment, as much if not more so than 'saving your home town' or the like.

As the colors from Diurn's hands wash over their foes, Hurik is aware of only one thing really. His prey is retreating. Hurik OUGHT to be concerned about Ardissa's confidence and whatever that whistle means, but while the dragon is upon him, he's more interested in the fear he's causing than tactics. He pursues the one who fled, and attacks him. Stride for first action.

"Fine, fine, the dragon for you then..." Hurik is offended. These people kill just for trophies? They would ignore herd rights? They think a person's integrity can be purchased with coin? If this is civilization, he's glad to be a savage! And maybe, just maybe, these people deserve to face his 'curse'. Once more he draws forth the Dragon allowing it to fill him, his often stoic features growing cold, cruel, and eager for the pain he is about to inflict. Action 1. RAGE! Icy dragon rage at that! -1 Penalty to AC, +4 Temp hitpoints, +4 Cold Damage to dmg caused And now, surrounded by an icy aura , his maul comes crashing down on the foe before him.
Sweeping the maul around as if it were lighter than it is, he then brings it towards the dazed fellow in front of Diurn. Third action, second strike on Yellow. Penalty included 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
"You're soft!" He mocks them while the curse holds him, "You're weak! You're not hunters, you are mirror admiring southern doxies playing pretend! Now die for your vanity!"
Male Kellid Human Barbarian (Dragon Instinct) -3; AC 20 (Before raging), HP: 50/53, Saves F+9, R+7, W+8*
Hurik readies his maul and narrows his eyes. Perhaps the woman speaks THAT language. Then he remembers "There was a cockatrice and a stone mammoth before you joined our scouting party, Diurn." That he speaks of freely "We might want to warn this stranger of that. I doubt she wants to be turned into a statue herself."
Male Kellid Human Barbarian (Dragon Instinct) -3; AC 20 (Before raging), HP: 50/53, Saves F+9, R+7, W+8*
Hurik frowns at this, He IS a hunter and sees no shame in hunting but... when he learns what a manor is, he blinks "Wait. They merely wish to kill it for... some ornament? They're not going to use every part of the mammoth? What kind of fools are these?" He asks his compatriots. Then a sly thought enters "Of course, My father, Horok, if he were still alive, would tell them of the GREAT Mammoth, the one five days travel 'that way'" He points to a direction that will be a colossal waste of time and will take the strangers far from them "The one that is 3 times bigger than anything we have? Great tusks bigger than..." He makes an expansive gesture. Now, Horok was a notorious talespinner and often played a bit fast and loose with the truth for a good story. Hurik is not his father, but in this he wonders if Guile and sharing one of his father's old yarns might be better.

"I cannot thank you enough, Harbinna. Perhaps I should learn this south tongue of yours. I am concerned these hunters will mistake the great beasts we rely on for open prey." A hunter himself he does not begrudge some hunting if one is hungry or needs to use the materials for their tribe but these folks came here to hunt and that ...complicates their reasons to Hurik's mind
Male Kellid Human Barbarian (Dragon Instinct) -3; AC 20 (Before raging), HP: 50/53, Saves F+9, R+7, W+8*
"I don't want to attack the hunters." At the idea of ambush "So leading them around it might be best. Or... if one of the following speaks the Southtongue, then maybe bring them here to translate?"
Male Kellid Human Barbarian (Dragon Instinct) -3; AC 20 (Before raging), HP: 50/53, Saves F+9, R+7, W+8*
He knows, but he is reluctant to say , and looks to his friends turning his head so his expression can't be as easily read by the stranger "I do not think if they are hunters we want them taking OUR mammoths. So I am reluctant to share that with them, even if I could speak their tongue"

Please forgive me if this is already covered..
I feel like I maybe needing a few cultural clues before I decide how Hurik will respond to the idea of giving these folks any clues
