"Oh you done it now!" Hugo yelled, managing to even laugh as Zinny bore down on the thug in front of them.

Realizing he wasnt presenting much of a target compared to Zinny, he dropped his shield, hefting his heavy mace in both hands and swinging hard at the man Zinny was pummeling.

Hugo drops out of Rage, automatically ignoring the Fatigue due to Country Born Feat. He then reactivates it for +4 Str. New AC without shield, Crowd Control and rage dex is 19

Move Action to drop shield, Standard to attack

Twohanded Power Attack: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 11 - 2 = 13 Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 6 = 19

Stepping up to assist Zinny, Hugo tried his best to draw their attention although his words did little to assist his endeavors. "Oi, 'ows about ya 'it someone yer own size!?" He bellowed, completely forgetting that Zinny was if anything the exact person he was suggesting they hit.

Not getting the reaction he was looking for, he instead tried to draw their attention the old fashioned way.

Heavy Mace Power Attack: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 1 = 29 Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 4 = 13

The additional +1 to hit is from Hugo Crowd Control ability. He also gains another +1 AC while atleast two enemies are adjacent to him, so 23 now. Here are some rolls for his Bodyguard feat on the enemies next attack against Zinny.

1st Aid Another: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 1 = 29

2nd Aid Another: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 1 = 17

3rd Aid Another: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 1 = 27

Seeing Zinny charge forward, Hugo did the same, following in her footsteps.

Double move to stand adjacent to Zinny, unless he can charge someone and still be next to her, then he does that.

Btw Grizz, in case you werent aware, you can cast a Full Round spell over two rounds if you need to keep moving (like now). It ends up costing two Standard Actions, so technically more expensive Action Economy wise, but it would let Grizz Enlarge Hugo while we move up. Hugo just needs to go Full Defense next round to let you keep up.

I had thought about the aid traits, but it seemed too much work to justify the ones available, especially since Hugo never planned to be a bodyguard initially.

Cant seem to find the Born Free one.

I think enlarge person is a full round to cast sadly. Also Zinny, since you move 20 feet and I move 25, you can remain adjacent to me. Heck you can even stand right behind me for cover -.-

Luckily, since Hugo goes last he can set up the cover for you.

Having looked through the list of Traits, already having a combat one, I didnt really see any the leapt out and said "This is Hugo"

Im assuming that wasnt a Surprise Round, since we were all half expecting a fight, yes?

Once more displaying his slow nature, Hugo did not immediatly cry out in pain, although his eyes and mouth did flinch. A split second later, as blood started spurting from his neck around the shaft of the arrow, he roared in pain. "OWH! Wat da Hells ya fink yer doin'?" He bellowed, sliding off his heavy horse which still seemed too cool to care. "Which one ov' ya 'it me huh? Once I gets dis fing out imma stick it in ya, sees 'ow ya like it!!"

Continuing to bellow unimaginative profanity, he started towards them, pulling his mace from his belt. "Get behind ma shield!"

Move Action, dismount. Free Action activate Rage for +2 Str and +2 Dex (Current AC: 22). Convert Standard Action to another Move Action, moving 25 feet forward

With his newly aquired Bodyguard Feat, Hugo can use attacks of opportunity to grant allies +2 AC vs attacks as long as they are adjacent...so, you know, feel free to stay close :)

Aid Another against 1st attack vs adjacent ally: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Aid Another against 2nd attack vs adjacent ally: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19

Luckily for Hugo, he had been handed a rather heavy set horse, the kind used for labor, a thick mane of hair covering its eyes. The creature barely even made an indication it had noticed the arrows hitting the ground.

"Ya fink dats a good idea Zinny, talkin' to em like dat?" Hugo sad in a low voice, trotting to her side on his horse and pulling out his shield. "I means Im wit ya an' all but still..."

I say go for it. You really have no obligation to stick around, but if you do, rebuild / reroll to your hearts content.

I like how this game is about a community, since any characters who have to "leave" just become part of the scenery so to speak, unlike some games where they just have to inexplicably disappear into thin air.

Yeah, ive had some drop off as well. Luckily Ascension is still going strong. At over 14 months and 1700+ posts, I sure hope he doesnt catch whatever is going around O.o

For the lair, I imagine we just use it as a headquarter, with most of it sealed off. I also suggest we wall up the exit we found and stick to using the secret entrance through Zinnys cellar. So, everyone helps clean up the place, and we buy some bricks and mortar to seal the secret entrance?

Indeed, Zinny took the gauntlets. Id personally suggest Hugo and Zinny take 2 Moderate Potions each, since they are more likely to need them. Then possibly 2 Lights for Tomid and 1 for Jacob and Griz each?

Hugo looked up from his metals, clearly uninterested in anything past the physical. "Dun look dat dangerous. Silly makin' weapons outa glass or crystal or wutever dat is." He shrugged and returned to his metals, an excited glint in his eyes.

Walking about the smithy, mouth ajar, Hugo picked up tool after tool with obvious admiration. "Lookit all dis!" He almost shouted, his voice echoing around the room. "Papa gots sumfing like dis, but it aint as gud. I can makes sum gud stuff wit dis."

Finding the ore stash, he looked the selection over, weighing each lump in his hand with an uncharacteristically professional look on his face. At first he almost missed the difference, but soon realized the value of what he was holding. "Dis 'ere, is da 'ardest metal yer ever gunna find...And dis.." He picked up the mithril. "...Dis is like wot Tomtoms new shirt is made ov'."

He dropped the ores and spread his arms wide, gesturing at the walls around him. "Dis place is great! Wes should take it fer ourselves. 'Eroes needs lairs too ya knows."

Hugo scratched his head and rubbed his chin, tongue slipping through his lips as he thought about the riddle. "I dunno, I aint dat gud wit riddles. Shame too, all da great 'eroes 'ad ta solve riddles. 'Ow is I ever gunna be un' ifs I dun knows 'ow ta solve em?"

He threw up his arms in frustration. "I guesses I is just too dumb. I means, "Da last fing on yer mind today"? Aint nuttin' on ma mind at da end ov' da day. NUTTIN'!! Ov' is I ever supposed ta gets it if I dun even 'ave anyfing on ma mind ta guess?!?"

He crossed his arms and sat down on the spot, looking very much frustrated.

Not sure how obvious it is, but theres a clue in what Hugo just said to what the answer is...assuming ive guessed right. Its spot on for the first half atleast, but then it gets kinda iffy for the last half.

Feeling the sudden tug of the human anchor that was Grizelda, Hugo stopped, hand on cup but yet to raise it to his lips. "Wutchu doin' Grizzy?" He asked, before looking over at Jacob as he added his thoughts. "Well, I dunno Mr. Jacob. Dun looks like nuttin' wrong wit it." He motioned towards the pool of water. "I can sees tha bottom an' da water dun stinks like that thar bra-ke-is water does." His brow furrowed into concentration as he stumbled over the word he knew but hard hardly ever uttered.

He sniffed the contents of the cup. "I wont if ya says ya dun wants me to, but looks fine ta me."

"Oh dats just wat I wus needin' rite about now." Hugo said with a relieved sigh, walking to the fountain and picking up the cup. "Waterskin water starts tastin' a bit like leather after a bit." He said, sticking his tongue out and making a face to illustrate what he thought of it.

Then he scooped up a cupful and downed it in two deep glugs, followed by a satisfied "Aaaaah."

Mwahaha, cant wait to see all the "no dont!" posts :P

Hugo squinted at Zinnys work, looking woefully confused. "I dun gets it Zinny, but if its da rite way, ya sure is smart." He ran his hand across his scalp and down his face, unwittingly looking like a confused ape in the process.

Wary as usual, Hugo practically jumped when the hermit appeared, muscles flexing as he was about to charge. Luckily the man wasted no time in stating his business, and in moments, Hugo once more stood paralysed by questions he did not understand or have the answers for. A low murmured "Bwuuuuuh?" was about all he managed.

When Jacob started rattling off answers, Hugo managed to snap a little back to his senses, nodding vigorously. "Yarh, Eclipse, I knews dat one." He said, looking satisfied that he wasn't completely uneducated.

Ive no doubt I could have figured out the last puzzle eventually, nor this one, but with both ive found myself looking at it and having nothing to contribute....feelin rather Hugo right now : /

Guess I didnt do enough puzzles growing up or something...

Hugo simply snorted in reply to Tomid, standing up straight and crossing his arms and looking at the ceiling. Sneaking a glance at Zinny, he inclined his head towards Tomid, whispering through clenched teeth. "Okay Tomtom, at da Cow den..." Walking off, a low mumble drifted over his shoulder. "...Stupid dragons, an' stupid Tomtoms, makin' fun ov Hugo..."

"Zinny?!" Hugo said almost loudly, leaning away from Tomid as if the little mans breath was toxic, a startled look on his face. When Zinny asked what he wanted, he quickly told her "Huh? Oh, eh, nuttin' neva mind."

As soon as she turned away again, he leaned back down, looming over Tomid like a fleshy cloud. "Wutcha mean Zinny likin' me?" He whispered his voice a sharp hissing whisper, his face somewhere between anger and puzzlement. "Wutcha tryin' ta pull? Dat stupid dragon put ya up ta dis? 'Ave a little laff at Hugo?"
