Hrrm roars as the sword bites deep and lashes out at his attacker assuming he has lost his weapons -2 to attacks because of entanglement Slam: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 - 2 = 26 damage if hits: 1d4 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

With a roar, Hrrm once again pulls against one of the Bandits. Bandit 5 Opposed strength check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 I presume that if he fails, I have pulled the rope out of his hands and I am only constrained by the other bandit.

attack of opportunity vs. bandit 3 from reach weapon Longspear: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 Damage if hits: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17 Grabbing the ropes, Hrrm lets out a roar and tries to yank one of the bandits off his feet where he can grapple him. Not sure what I should roll for this. Trip attack? trip attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

Standing well back, Hrrm watches these humans. He doesn't like the way that some of his family seem to swarm all over them, he doesn't like them being here but Dion greets them like family. He is so confused; they are family and not-family and he does not know how to treat them, so he looks on uncertainly.

Hrrm recognises a rival predator, and his instincts scream at him to fight or run; but he cannot fight, and he cannot run. Fighting his instincts, he edges out of the brush and glares at the humans. Maybe they will go away if he looks scary enough. "Hrrrmmmmmm." he mutters to himself, pitifully. He clutches his spear nervously.

Hrrm also hides, using one of his special hiding places he has discovered over the years where he can remain hidden in the brush but still see concealment bonus? Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 Yikes! hopefully with concealment bonus Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Goldmyr wrote: That could be an interesting idea to role play around. I could build off that if you want to do it. That's up to you. I realised as I wrote it that it can't be entirely true or else they would never mate outside their family, yet they never learned social units larger than the nuclear family. It's possible that Hrrm is something of an anomaly, having been brought up by Dion, but I still want some Nod to the antisocial behaviour that I assume is instinctive in Sasquatches. I am also aware that it can easily become a stumbling block to, say, accepting new members, so I will pitch it as mild paranoia against any outsiders, possibly excepting women. For some reason Sasquatches have a thing for human women, according to the accounts.

I'm not entirely sure that sasquatches understand what friends are. He might know the concept, but for Hrrm there is family and there is not-family. Even other Centaurs would be looked at askance, as not-family. That's why sasquatches never conquered the world.

Hrrm is happy. He remembers this ritual, a sign of a true family. Dion would come back and tell stories, and he would know that this was family. He came in from the neighbouring forest when he heard Dion's hooves on the forest floor and has sat quietly in his corner since, waiting for Dion's story and knowing that he had a story of his own to share.

Hrrm should get an Attack of Opportunity unless it has 10'reach AoO: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 better damage if hits: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (6) + 16 = 22 If it continues to close to 5', Hrrm will take a 5'step back and attack again Longspear: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22 damage if hits: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21 If they both hit, that's 43 damage. I have redeemed myself.

Hrrm will wait to see if the creatures are entangled, if they are both entangled he will draw out a rock to throw at them; if they are not entangled he will meet them when they are 10 from the edge of the entanglement with his spear (reach weapon).

Hrrm looks at Highfeather. "That what Hrrm say." He gets out his club and, seeing there are no trees about I assume there are none., pulls out a large rock from his bag and places it on the ground to use as an impromptu drum.

Remember, not everything is automatically going to be an enemy. Sometimes things can be friends, or at least temporary allies. Maybe they are a lost orc patrol, or maybe they are vicious nasty enemies; unless we take time to find out, we may be losing a potential ally or someone with vital information. If they are different creatures, then they have not shown themselves to be an enemy, my inclination would be to approach cautiously and see how they respond.

Hrrrmmmm. Mushman tricky. Magic water good trick." Disappointed that I missed both attacks, but nm. Should we organise ourselves into some semblance of order? Frontliners at the front, scout ranging ahead, backroom boys behind, rearguard, etc.?

Looks like these things are immune to most magics, concentrate on buffing the fighters if you can "Hrrrrrmmmmmm." Hrrm stabs again at the pesky mushman Longspear: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17 and, once again the gods of dice are laughing at me.

"Hhhhrrrrmmmm.". Hrrm waits patiently, knowing that his little friends will not be happy until they have prodded and poked and tested it. But Hrrm is a hunter, he is used to waiting patiently for his prey. Besides he has seen the blight before - not this close because it smelled bad, but close enough to see that it was mushrooms. Standing still and rumbling to himself he waits for his friends to finish.

"Hhhrrrmmmm." murmering to himself, he takes some of the vials and strides off towards the blight, barely noticing the Grig on his shoulder. I wanted to call myself Herman, but its already taken. Hrrm had been hiding when the news came. He had several special spots where he could see and hear most of what goes on without revealing himself. When he heard that Ariane was missing, he let out a loud roar and strode from his hiding place.
High-feather wrote: Hrrm. What class are you going to level in ? I was thinking Barbarian (invulnerable rager archetype), despite his shy and reclusive nature, his natural belligerence could be turned to rage, and his stats naturally incline him towards that class. Fighter requires him making the mental leap towards sophisticated feat chains, and anything else would require better mental stats. |
