Hollowe nods and sets to with gusto. This means he misses much of the detail of what Capra is relaying. He does catch that there is a need in Holm. "*Slurp*! Yes, someone should capture this lizard man." His tongue makes a tour of the edges of his beak and he bobs appreciatively. Somewhat sated, he adds conversationally. "She's right Grot. You stink." The avian's eyes crinkle in a smile. "Then again, we dune runners do too..."

Hollowe's eyes do not leave the platters of food, and he sits immediately where he is directed. He cannot concentrate on anything else, and waits avidly, inhaling the amazing scents.

Hollowe nods to the lady, as if confirming Jorrick's words, and then follows Grotbaard. Though Hollowe is nominally interested in...everything, including the large gentleman and his possibly wonderful crafting, Hollowe's stomach is ever more the prominent interest. As well, he wonders why the nourishment is on the dwarf, and why Hollowe can't see it, and moreover, if it is on the dwarf, why do they have to go into the establishment to eat it?

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25 Hollowe sees it too, and points to it - what looks like an eye above the opening of the pyramid. "Grotbaaaard?" the avian asks with a tremor in his voice. Hollowe draws his seeing piece out and looks closely at the symbol.

Hollowe makes much of the new seeing glass, holding it to one eye or the other almost constantly. Grotbaard is now a major hero to the avian, even moreso when he leads them to an enormous and magnifcent...settlement. Never has Hollowe seen so many beings, and the ziggurat leaves him speechless. Normally an extroverted sort, the young warrior is overwhelmed by all the goings on and shies behind Jorrick and listens for the old woman's reply.

Oops, only just noticed Hollowe was handed something specific... Hollowe's beady eye shrinks as he looks closely at the metal cylinder. He tastes it experimentally with his rather dextrous tongue. Finally he nibbles at it slightly, but learns little. "Grotbaard - what is this thing?"

I'm fine with whatever you can manage. I'm enjoying the intrigue of a largely underdeveloped/civilised world (at least insofar as Hollowe understands it) and the characters finding their way through it and around each other.

Hollowe watches with keen interest as the dwarf approaches the wheeled object and begins to produce useful items from the boxes. The stone chips are evidently bartering tokens of some importance, and the other items are very welcome indeed. Hollowe nods at Jorrick's suggestion, unsure why the two are placing stones on the leathery remains. "Let us go to Holm. And from there, who knows?"

"A settlement. Like another yard? Hopefully they are better off than ours. Ours didn't even have a name." the avian adds sadly. If Jorrick has not already, Hollowe will check the bodies for items or equipment before leaving.

Hollowe isn't sure what amazes him more - Grotbaard's casual destruction of the spear Hollowe only just gave him or the strange mechanikal creature and its sudden awakening and just as sudden demise. There is so much more to this desert than our yard,,, the avian thinks, somewhat stunned. "I'm still keen to vacate these tunnels. Grotbaard seems knowledgable, and.... [here casts a wary eye at the dwarven stranger] ... resourceful. And yet they managed to catch him. I want not to be caught or killed in a trap. Let us leave."

Hollowe's eyes crease at the strange word. "machine". Still, the dwarf seems...useful. Hollowe thinks for a moment, then changes his stance from barring the way with his spear to offering it to Grotbaard. "I'm better fighting without this weapon. Look after it."
Male Tengu Monk 1; HP: 12/12; AC:16, T:13, FF:13; FORT +2, REF +5, WILL +5; INIT +3; PER: +x9; CMB: +2; CMD 18; SPD: 30 ft
Hollowe bars the dwarf's way. "No. You do not lift or move the tapestry. First, explain." Hollowe licks his beak, nervously. He feels as if he is overstepping something, but what he does not know. "How do you know from which way we came? We might find another way - to somewhere else. Perhaps - through the tapestry? Why do you wish to go through?" Hollowe is nervous and scared. He's trying to slow things down to understand the dangers, and stay alive. While Kentalla may ferl the dwarf is genuine, Hollowe has no such insight.

Sea? Mountains? Guild? Hollowe considers the dwarf, and comes to the conclusion the fellow is clearly addled. Addled, but perhaps with some useful knowledge and advice. The avian...dunerunner has no idea what the rest of the group are talking about trying. "Let us leave here. The dunes are known to us. This place is not."
Male Tengu Monk 1; HP: 12/12; AC:16, T:13, FF:13; FORT +2, REF +5, WILL +5; INIT +3; PER: +x9; CMB: +2; CMD 18; SPD: 30 ft
With more than a hint of impatience, Hollowe speaks with a higher than normal pitch, indicating raised tension. "We should not stay here. This has the hallmarks of a place of worship, and one that is important, and much used. We should leave. The tapestry hides some horror that smells quite bad."
Male Tengu Monk 1; HP: 12/12; AC:16, T:13, FF:13; FORT +2, REF +5, WILL +5; INIT +3; PER: +x9; CMB: +2; CMD 18; SPD: 30 ft
Hollowe snorts at the concept of "spare water" and studiously stays at his post, guarding the tapestry ostensibly much too important a task to attend to. The avian breathes in deeply through his nostrils, attempting to discern anything with his best sense, the olfactory. Hollowe has Carrion Sense: Many tengus have a natural ability to sniff out carrion. While their sense of smell isn’t as keen as that of other species, it is particularly attuned to the scent of injuries or death. Tengus with this racial trait have a limited scent ability, which only functions for corpses and badly wounded creatures (50% or fewer hit points). A bit of a game mechanic stretch, but using it for roleplay purposes to get a sense of what might be behind the curtain. In the game, not the fourth wall kind....

Hollowe's head cocks to the side in his characteristic attitude of consideration. "I think this entire place is as good as an ambush for us. We are lost here, with no way of knowing which way good, which way bad. We will only rush into their home. I vote we go slow, and carefully."

DM Nation: Moving forward, just thought I'd alert you: Hollowe has deflect arrows monk ability:
You must have at least one hand free (holding nothing) to use this feat. Once per round when you would normally be hit with an attack from a ranged weapon, you may deflect it so that you take no damage from it. You must be aware of the attack and not flat-footed. Attempting to deflect a ranged attack doesn't count as an action. Unusually massive ranged weapons (such as boulders or ballista bolts) and ranged attacks generated by natural attacks or spell effects can't be deflected.

Hollowe stands still, breathing hard, his head cocked, while his eyes peer at the door, the walls, the sand. Then he points at the wall with his spear. "Holes. In the wall. A body-length or more either side of the door..." To clarify - are the holes on the same wall as the door, or seven feet along the perpendicular walls? How high up are they? Could they accept or express a bolt/spear/spike etc? Likely Hollowe has never seen a complex trap, and at this stage has no idea what the holes might be used for...

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Hollowe can't seem to sense whatever it is that Karsha senses, and that worries the normally perceptive avian. He can feel the rumbling, but that is all. He looks to Kentalla, then at their surroundings. "I like your suggestion, but what is safer ground? The very ground here heaves and wavers..."
