bump?

Never know what to say on these situations... All the best for you Nightflier.

We still here?

bump

"It does seem like a balanced offer" - Heroden pipes in.

Heroden loosk seriously at Whurly - "Please friend, I am not made for cold blooded murder - this one here is stable but he is badly wounded. He is not going anywhere soon... or later for that matter"

"Let us go on our way and understand what is afoot in this place" - Heroden follows the "straight ahead" path as worded by the dwarf earlier on.

Heroden ponders the unconscious creature for a few moments - "I hesitate in using my healing powers to get this creature back on its feet only so it can be interrogated - these are resources judiciously given away by the goddess, and I do not wish to waste her inspiration, and be lacking it if, and when you may need it my friends..."

"Lets leave this one tied up and proceed on our way"

Heroden looks around and questions Whurly with a smile - "Which way?"

BUMP!

Heroden seems amused at the exchange regarding the payment rates, as he is smiling but nonetheless nodding affirmatively as opinions are spoken - he does not add a comment for now, simply signaling to the barmaid for another round of whatever is being drank.

He then nods to the others - "I always find that negotiations are better carried out when the throat is not dry" - he comments.

Turning to Draegar, Heroden comments - "Well, I guess we can try to get the usual information - why did they attack us? What are they doing here? Do they have a boss? Stuff like that..."

Satisfied that he has managed to stabilize their foe, Heroden proceeds in tying the diminutive creature and gagging it with a rag improvised from one of the others clothing.

"Now then, were any of you capable of understanding the language they were speaking?" Maybe we can get some information from him about this place?"

He then stands at attention, watching the room they are in more attentively and the surrounding entrances/exits, for any further approaching adversaries.

"I wish to have more information on this whole thing. By the way, good job boys!"

Heroden approaches the mite that seems to him less wounded and will try to stabilize him.

Heal(untrained): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

Hey, hey!!! Go us!!

Well, I'm happy with my positioning at the moment - thank you DM Eunson :D One request to my group - if possible, post your status at the end of your actions. I want to know which one of the boys or girl may need healing

Correct me if I am wrong - so far only Draegar took 2 points of damage, right?

Heroden thrusts his spear at one of the mites threatening Draegar - "Why are these creatures even attacking us? Stand down fools! Or you will be PUT down!"

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Guess I should stick to healing....

Two questions DM Eunson: 1)I had requested to be behind Draegar - could we rearrange that? 2)Don't the mites cause AoO from me since I have a reach weapon? Thanks

Next time we need to try and discern exactly who is on front and not :D In any case:

Heroden moves forward, on queue with Draegar.

Not sure exactly where Draegar is placed, since we have no coordinates on the map, but since Heroden's weapon has reach, he wants to strike from behind Draegar - DM Eunson let me know if it is not possible

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

With a short bow, Heroden pulls up a chair - "Thank you. I will take a seat yes. Apologies again for my interruption and do continue"

We need to define who is in front because if Heroden is in the front line, he will probably charge in, but if he is not, he will delay his actions until the 2 dwarves have acted, to follow in their toe. According to the action resolution, we are assuming Whurly and Draegar are up front?

Heroden warns - "There!" - as he points to the strange creatures up ahead.

"Stay safe from those darts Kara - keep close to me!"

In that case, Heroden walks side by side with Whurly :D

Heroden takes his place alongside the dwarf, his longspear at the ready, and attentive to any signs of danger from the cave entrance ahead.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Don't really know... Whurly and Draegar up front and Heroden and Kara after? What say you guys?

Having listened to the conversation, and hearing the hint that perhaps the ensemble would be looking for further elements, Heroden gets up and approaches the table, his longspear in hand.

"Good afternoon, my apologies for eavesdropping into your conversation. My name is Heroden, and I am myself looking for... hmmm... Employment. I had received a note to visit this here fine establishment exactly to address such objective. Mayhaps you would be the person offering such employment, and responsible for the note that reached my hands?" - he looks squarely at the stranger who had walked in the door a few moments ago.

Heroden is not even on the same table - that is why he has not intervened so far, but he is trying to eavesdrop :D

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

"I would question if you have any idea what kind of bandits we are talking about - would these be roving humanoids like goblins or orcs? Or are we talking more organized human akin ones, that have taken to banditry, in your opinion?"

Agreed

Whurly Deepforger wrote:

Whurly motions for Draegar to sit, before sitting himself. He immediately orders some of his companion's favourite alcohol, two double doses (one for Draegar, and one for himself), and then turns to his new acquaintances.

"Good to meet you Master Heroden, Kara. As I was saying, lad here is Draegar, Draegar Ironhide, while I am Whurly Deepforger, both of the Bellowpiper clan." - he takes a long swing of his drink, and continues.

"The deal is the followin' - we met with some local priest of Abadar, just across the street. He claims that they've lost some trade shipments. Should not be a big deal since they loose shipments to bandits from time to time, but usually they either find some corpses at the site of the robbery or receive ransom notes for further gold after a couple of days of the goods going missing. This time they got neither, and that is what is strange. The padre, I mean the priest thinks he knows where these bandits are striking from and he'd like someone to check it out. Problem is that it is not sanctioned by the Church, so there's no official reward or advance money, but we managed to haggle for some healin' in advance. Plus a standard finders-keepers deal, plus a twenty percent markup on standard sellin' price of whatever we haul back 'ere. So, what say you - are ye in?"

Heroden listens quietly to Whurly, and his recount of the deal with multiple facets, before answering - "I can speak only for myself - I am mostly a wanderer at heart, but lets just be no-nonsense about it - I love a good ruffle with your average highway bandit, and I fancy myself as one of the good guys" - he says with a smile - "I am guessing that what you suggest throws in a a good chance to do both, and even if not, I have been looking for an employment in the region that matches my... abilities. So once our meal is ended, you can add me to your numbers, and we shall go to speak with this "padre" of yours if you so desire" - he finishes with a nod turning to Draegar.

"Is the drink to your taste master Draegar? Shall we go for another round? On me?"

Heroden smiles openly while Kara speaks to the dwarf - "As Kara has put in a quite crystalline manner, it seems you may have found what you are looking for Master Dwarf"

Opening his arms wide, motioning for available seats around the table, he adds - "Do sit down and tell us more about these... Difficulties you said? And please feel free to help yourselves from the roast - it is quite good actually"

"I am Heroden, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance"

Smiling to Kara as they both taste from the meal in front of them, Heroden comments - "Actually no friend, I have met a couple of gnomes on the road, but none of them were named Glint as far as I can remember - why do you ask?"

Even though Heroden had been sitting at a table all by himself, he somehow gets the feeling this is the... person he has come to meet.

Without being too obvious, he keeps his attention focused on the stranger and the ones around the table - This should be interesting...

Shameless bump :D

Merry Christmas Nightflier :D

Heroden seems a bit taken by surprise by the inquisitive gnome's frontal questions and stares at the small one for a few short moments.

With an open smile, and extending his own hand to greet Kara, the man answers: "Well... I am not looking for a war, do not worry - I guess Desna cannot totally shake away my martial upbringing. But then again, she allows me the room to make my decisions and so I follow where the road takes me - it it takes me to war, it will be surely for a reason, but not today for sure, and I have never in my life held nothing against the gnomes" - "Regardless of the trouble they may, or may not cause" - he adds with a wink.

"Please do sit down with me, and allow me to offer you a drink, or a meal if you so desire - I believe we may be indeed heading in the same direction" - he comments while perusing the piece of paper - "I was intending to go find that same exact clergy representative after my meal - can I interest you in partaking of my roast?"

"Oh and by the way, my name is Heroden."

Well then, do bring me a portion of that roast with some potatoes and a serving of vegetables. I'll take also a mug of an ale of your chosing and suggestion.

By the way DM Eunson, Heroden is not a dwarf, he is human :D

Heroden had just arrived in Kerse a few days ago, and was actually still taking in the sights and sounds of this place, so seemingly different from many others where he had been before, when he decided it was time to set himself into action.

He had enough time to shake the weariness from the road travel away, and was feeling quite himself again, so he decided it was time to look for employment - he had long ago learned that sometimes finding a local job (of course, one preferably relating to his capabilities as a combatant and making use of his Desna inspired powers) was the best possible way to understand the comings and goings of many a place he had visited before - the way employers carry themselves and the nature of the tasks at hand make for an excellent measure of how things work.

It was not long before after dropping a few silvers around that he got word that a fellow clergyman seemed to be looking for hired hand - adventurers one might say - I guess I can fit in that category - Heroden thought to himself with a smile.

After deciding on his course of action - he would visit this priest later during the day - he decided on a meal at an inn where he had been the day before, which appealed to him for its activity and the good quality of the food - anyone watching him approach would be surprised by the stark contrast of his white beard and hair with the young, jovial look on his face, which looks not a single day over 30 years of age, with piercing sky blue eyes.

Striding calmly up the street, a huge spear strapped across his back, in a crossing pattern with the javelin containing quiver, strapped the other way around. A well tended, long flowing pale grey robe covers his armored coat, which is in perfect conditions, well preserved and cared for. His steps are easy, without hurry, but sure ones, as his massive frame seems to easily carry his belic gear, as well as his backpack, and multiple items of survival gear - each of his strides reveals an unusual four pointed weapon with a handle, as if a mixture between a star and a multiple bladed dagger dangling at one of the sides of his hip, while on the other side sits a neatly accomodated heavy looking mace.

As he walks up to the entrance of the inn, he lifts his right hand, showing it clearly enveloped in an armored, spiked gauntlet, opening the door and stepping inside the hazy ambiance, bathed by a myriad of voices and the smell of different cookings.

At his neck, a beautifully crafted but simple bronze butterfly dangles freely, on a twined cord, as he rests his spear against the wall, taking a seat and addressing the inkeeper - Well my good man, what is in your menu today? he asks with a polite smile.

DM Eunson, thank you for taking me on board, and congrats to all that got accepted in.

To the others, good luck on further applications - I saw some really cool characters while peeking at some profiles :D

Good luck to all who applied :D

Hey, and a Happy New Year if we don't speak before that!!

These things happen, just make sure to recover nicely, and we'll get crackin' by the beginning of the year.

I am curious about Midgard to be honest :D

Heroden listens quietly to the man's introduction, pondering if they may be there for the same reasons. For the time being he will not step forward, keeping to himself and to the mug of ale in front of him.

To the side, his longspear rests casually against the wall.

Hello all,

I would like to throw my character - Heroden - into the mix. He is a traveling cleric of Desna, aiming at support and second line combat.

Crunch and basic backstory are in the alias link - both the mechanics and the concept are something I am looking forward to play with so I will leave any comments on it up to you DM Eunson.

Cheers.

Any response to my post/questions? I guess Heroden turned me down on my offer to incorporate him into my background; no response from him.

My sincere apologies Tzadkiel, I honestly did not notice the reference in your post to Heroden - Indeed his deity is Desna, and I would be perfectly ok with him travelling for some time now with Tzadkiel.

I can imagine already some points in common between them, since Heroden is for sure a melee type of cleric, with an "up in your face" attitude when battle is upon them. But also his more liberal approach to one's will and decisions on how to pursue ideals make me picture some endless theological debates on the horizon :D

Thank you for taking me aboard Nightflier - who else are we missing for the introduction here on the Gameplay thread?

Hoping it is ok to add my 2 cents here, since I have completed the introductory background and personality as you requested Nightflier

Heroden had just arrived in Zobeck a few days ago, and was actually still taking in the sights and sounds of this place, so seemingly different from many others where he had been before, when he decided it was time to set himself into action.

He had enough time to shake the weariness from the road travel away, and was feeling quite himself again, so he decided it was time to look for employment - he had long ago learned that sometimes finding a local job (of course, one preferably relating to his capabilities as a combatant and making use of his Desna inspired powers) was the best possible way to understand the comings and goings of many a place he had visited before - the way employers carry themselves and the nature of the taks at hand make for an excellent measure of how things work.

It was not long before after dropping a few silvers around that he got word, in writing, to visit the Nameless Dragon Inn - anyone watching him approach would be surprised by the stark contrast of his white beard and hair with the young, jovial look on his face, which looks not a single day over 30 years of age, with piercing sky blue eyes.

He strides calmly up the street, a huge spear strapped across his back, in a crossing pattern with the javelin containing quiver, strapped the other way around. Nightflier:

Background and Personality:

Heroden is a man of convictions - his considerable amount of travelling has shown him that black and white are mostly exaggerated shades of grey, taken to their extreme due to an inability to compromise or simply an absence of understanding regarding "alternatives".

His own moral compass has led him, more than once, to clash with other churches in association with Desna - even though he understands that this may be his own limitation, he feels that the extremes of conviction are usually more limiting than an advantage, so he walks a thin line between belief in something bigger than himself, and his own beliefs - Desna has seen fit to believe in him so far.

A traveller at heart, the limited mentalities he has come in contact with had led him to voyage as much as he can of the charted and uncharted world - he looks for diversity and points of view, and counts himself blessed for the many experiences he has had so far - he belives they make him richer and wiser in his ways.

Many times contemplative, usually taking time to absorb the realities of the communities he visits, he is not however above setting his own beliefs on the front line - as open as he may be, he does have religious convictions and causes, and he makes his best to live by these, simply he feels that it doesn't automatically means he has the right or the duty of imposing them on others.

Do not be mistaken, he will not allow evil to flourish or prevail, and has no qualms in setting about on what others would call "righteous might", he will do it of his own accord though, and not by edict or demand - this is exactly what has led him to travel so far, if one takes into consideration that he is still but an initiate in the ways of the divine, having begun to feel stiffled by the demands and considerations of observing obligations that did not make sense on his head or, in his opinion, on his goddess will.

Much like her, Heroden is a dreamer, rarely settling in a single location thus far, preferring to be on the roads of Golarion. He will band together with travellers, enlightening those who are ignorant of the ways of Desna as he meets them, and cordially discussing matters of faith with others more knowlegeable than himself.

He lives as free as he has been able thus far, setting his goals in seeing new sights each day and finding locales unheard of, but often dreamed of...

Christmas has illegally tackled me... Slim chance that I will be able to post my background today - even more so since I am VERY unfamiliar with the Midgard setting.

Any chance someone can throw me a hook?

Thank you for the opportunity Nightflier, I will try to have additional info on the character within the 48 hours - last few days have been of Christmas frenzy, and there are still more to come - will try my best since I am really looking forward to play this character.

And congrats to those accepted!

Again, good luck to all for the decision today.

Good luck to all who applied.

I have been struggling with time, and haven't been able to put up a decent backstory yet... It is in my head, I simply haven't been able to write it down.

I will try to scrape some time in the next couple of hours, inbetween some mad Christmas shopping :D

Ok, here is Heroden - alias of Edeldhur above.

Crunch done - will add fluff asap.
