Ahhh, ok. Thanks for your patience, first time with the system. So, yes, that should have been a provoke.

"Oh, you bet your ass I'll do my job. Maybe turn this cracker's head into paste!"2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7Herman picks up the totalled car like it was a puppy, one-handedly and threatens Kanga with it.Frighten him?

Ok, so, he is provoked. Do I need to roll to attack? Directly engage?

Love it. I'm totally in.

"All right, you gubba-ass z-list s~$+bag. This coulda been nice." Herman stands up again, cracking his neck. Taking "angry" condition for the first of many foreseeable times.

"Ok ...ok ...but why are you stealing, man? Has anyone asked you--OOF!" Herman's stab at empathy backfires as the dirty Oz (he now no longer feels bad thinking that) rabbit kicks him across the street, crushing the side of a parked car!

Defend!: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3) + 2 = 7 So how do we interpret that?

Almost there. Let's see if this wack-ass town can at least manage a bacon, egg, & cheese. But Herman didn't make it quite to the diner. Instead, he came upon what seemed to be a full-on cape battle. Dark-clad female, old school style--Holy S+*+, the Silver Shadow!--and a dude in ...a Kangaroo outfit?[/i] Putting himself between the two he shouts, "Whoa, whoa, whoa ...what's going on here? Nobody needs to get hurt!"

I keep hesitating to insert Herman into any of the threads because I don't want to step on any toes. He could feasibly run into/help Shadow, but I don't want him to be a third wheel in a scene between you two.

Um, ..."this belongs in a mouse-eum"
Haven't posted a)to let the diner scene percolate and b) tomorrow I have a whole keyboard to write with again.

I'm picturing some inter city rivalry, NY sports fans hate all other major cities hahaha

Say, do we know what state Halcyon is in?

Geometry was ...geometry. Herman could hear his mom, though. "Throwing a semi ain't worth much if you got no idea what your angle is." So he took notes. The highlander seemed nice. Took guts to go out there with no powers, like Dad and great grandpa. But eventually the school day was over. His father was grumbling about having spaced out and bringing the wrong ancient weapon for a lesson, but seemed enthused enough. He asked after Herman's day and he reported the highlights, including the young swordsman.
"Ready go home, son? Or you wanna explore. Best thing to do in a new city-"
"Is to walk around. So, yeah, I think I will."
Herman walked up and down and around and about and frankly wasn't impressed. Sure, Halcyon was cleaner than home, but that wasn't exactly a priority of his. Food was, though. Another of his Dad's favorite tips about new places was "find a greasy diner and enjoy." So he googled and found one not too far away.

Any thoughts on how to have the boys catch up with some others?

Herman's dad: John (not walker). 6 foot 1, once in peak shape now with sizable beer belly. Graying hair, bit of a bald spot. Grey longish beard. First while at school likely collared shirts of wildish patterns under a houndstooth sports coat. Definitely would bring in ancient weapons to class hahaha

"Yeah, of course!" Herman hands Shaun his phone. "Sweet! Swords rule. You should see my Dad's katana. He says he got it in another dimension but he says weird s&+~ when he's stoned."

No, not at all! I like how it's working out!

Oh, you privileged a*$$!!%! Never assume people have powers! Ugh, such a bush league screw-up! But don't make too big a deal about it, this is on you!
"Oh, cool, like my Dad! Any particular fighting style?"

"Training, mostly. My strength ...I have to be careful. Some guy mugs another guy out of desperation, I 'keep the street safe' recklessly, his head is a fine red mist, just because society wasn't supporting him the right way. How do you keep your powers in check?"

"Wait, seriously? You ...go on patrols? Do the hero thing?"

Herman laughs at the conspiratorial tone. "Well, it's not clear. Dad, her grandson, was around peak human, so her powers were waning generation by generation. So it's possible I mostly take after my mom's side. But, no, can't fly. I can hear a pin drop down the block, which is not useful at all and more annoying than anything, but nothing so useful as flying."

As for hangouts, Herman would love to find a skate park. DIY punk and hip hop venues, political rallies, maybe a secret comics and/or gaming obsession.

Depends on the case. I'm also more and more into a young Go being more conservative ...still very Catholic. She could have done something to protect or let go Spire, but it bit her in the ass as he eventually killed lots of people in Brooklyn.

Could be interesting for the a&!@%&& to have been right and the princess to be wrong. But he's SUCH a jerk she's never admitted it to him.

Hmmm. What if this occurred before Go felt ok with such measures? Early on and idealistic...before she met DaDamerican. Don't want to force Shadow into the role of Wrongo McWrongerton. And it broke the group up, but Go later would come to realize she was wrong.

Go isn't opposed to killing altogether. Her husband went to battle with guns and swords and such. Now, if there was evidence the Spire suffered from mental illness? She'd not want anyone killed for a condition they can't control, no matter how dangerous.

I knew I was forgetting something! Sorry, was not purposeful!

"Ah, cool! Let's go together. And, yeah, my Granny Freida is something else!"

Herman looks at his schedule. "Geometry? Oh, great. Anyone else?"

I'm just going to retcon the name. Herman and Alexandra are going to have a tangled enough cohistory as it is.

For some reason I didn't consciously realize I was giving Herman a last name already in use. I can still change it if it's weird.

"Yeah! That's why you listen to it all! Some of it is self-indulgent s+**, but might still have a good riff! Or beat! Or something!"

"You can't convince a fascist. You just introduce his head to the concrete. I also like skating, weird movies, and f~+%ing with the patriarchy. And good music, duh."

"And before anyone asks, NO I CAN'T FLY."

Herman blushes a bit but tries to play it off. "He's weirdly cool with being known as 'Go's husband.' He used to do that stuff, too. Family tradition. But, you know, I'm not some privileged celebrity kid. Not that I don't have privilege!" Herman scratches the back of his head awkwardly.

Herman chuckles. "Oh, definitely. But only to cover how much he gives a s$!%. I'll say ...if you sympathize with fascists, watch out. That goes for both of us. Not that you guys do!"

"Mr. Walker. Some kind of history position. He's ok, really. Weirdly woke, if I'm honest. But, yeah, it can be weird."

To the big guy, Herman replies, "Can't say as I have. Brooklyn born, Brooklyn bred. As for smoking, just as well. Dad would find out and doesn't like me smoking weed much yet. Which, uh, yeah. I'm Herman. My dad is starting as a teacher here today, so gimme a break for sympathy's sake?"

"Whoa, there, Highlander! I said I was sorry! I was in my head. Met? Er, you ever been to Brooklyn?"

Then he turns to Kaoru. "My vision is fine, just not always my attention. And how much tour could one high school need? Wait, did someone say where to smoke??"

Herman was not having a good day. School he normally didn't mind. But this wasn't his school, not the one in Brooklyn where all his friends went. The microwave bagel his dad made him for breakfast was almost certainly a rather cruel joke. People talk about how great Halcyon is but WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE A PROPER BAGEL, KAREN?

Then of course his dad insist on driving him to school, as, after all, it was "his new school too." When you're a teacher's kid, it doesn't matter where you go, THEY WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.

He bolted out of the car before his dad was even parked. Dad understood and held back, probably looking at political memes on Facebook.

The high school...well, it was certainly modern? Nothing like the centuries-old buildings in Brooklyn. But maybe that meant ...working elevators?

Lost in thought he bumps into a cluster of students and fumbled to take his headphones out. Seemed an odd grouping. A group of girls with one or two guys, not that it mattered or was his business, he reminded himself. "Bah! Gah! Sorry, sorry. Ah, first day.". He has dark skin and a moderate fro-hawk, wearing a repurposed military jacket laden with buttons. Well, here goes.

If it were to be Go at the museum there could he a nice "Wait, THAT'S your mom??!"

As for identities I think the multiple hero marriages make it pretty impossible to hide. I'm thinking the family just moved from Brooklyn so the father could take a history teaching job. Mom (Go) is still internationally active and could serve as a Superman type if anyone is interested in a strong Dominican woman from Brooklyn being a top dog. Missed notifications today but will get something up tonight or tomorrow. Herman is going to be a little Brooklyn snobbish ...the move wasn't his idea and he's pissed.

Mine says we interact with a prominent hero ...I havent done the archive dive so I dunno who that might be.

Hahaha! Did someone else use that? I can change it.

Whew, finally glad to get that down. Thoughts? Anything not work? Herman is going to go to Halcyon, maybe a new transfer? Along with his dad who is teaching history (with a radical slant of course)?

Silver Shadow how would your legacy interact with Herman's? Was there a Shadow working in WW2? Perhaps they were on a wartime team together?

Kilt: that works, and Herman might be totally oblivious to it.

Mercy: I can see that. "Come on, do THIS, dammit!"

Wingblade, your mentor may know DaDamerican and/or Go, perhaps?

Hernan Kinner Hernandez Walker Character Sheet

Moment of Truth:
This is the moment when you prove how much the mantle belongs to you. You seize control of all your powers, and you defeat even impossible odds to prove you are worthy of the name you carry. You accomplish feats even your predecessors couldn’t do. Of course, after you prove something like that, you can expect still more responsibilities to be placed on your shoulders…

Team Moves:
When you share a triumphant celebration with someone, tell them whether you see them as an equal. If you do, give them Influence over you and mark potential. When did you officially become a part of your legacy?
Hernan has known about it for most of his non-toddler life. Due to the superhuman powers he has inherited, things had to be explained early on. However, now in high school, he is now representing the legacy publicly for the first time.

What’s the greatest accomplishment of your legacy?
Punching Goebbels into paste.

How does the public perceive your legacy?
The original American Dream (Frieda White Harmon) is now in her early 90s, and is remembered mostly as one of the great golden age superheroes. The original Jester (Girard Kinner Harmon) passed on before Hernan was born, and is mostly remembered as the lucky normal human who married American Dream. Their daughter, Pamela Sue (who later married Mike Walker) had a brief stint in the sixties as a second Jester, but generally is remembered more for her civilian music career. Their son, Charles Walker, tried to pay tribute to both his grandparents as the DaDamerican, a black-leather glad peak human armed to the teeth. You could say he was more of a cult figure, in that no one was quite sure what to make of him. His romance and marriage to Cassandra Hernandez elevated him much like his grandfather’s marriage had before. She is known as Go, an incredibly powerful Dominican American superhero. Some conservatives saw the DaDamerican and his black girlfriend as a sacrilege to the original American Dream, but the old lady never thought so herself.

How does your legacy tie into your reasons for being a hero?
“We’ve always helped those in need and fought against oppressors. But if Nazis are making a comeback, we need to fight them as hard as we did in WW2.”

Why do you care about the team?
Hernan has been convinced by his father that this coming generation will be akin to Frieda and G.K.’s generation, historically, in that it comes down to them to fix all the messes that have occured since. So he is eager to work with other people his age, and hopes to convince them of the severity of the white nationalist problem in America.

When our team first came together...
All things considered, we did well and impressed an established hero. Who was it? that I definitely need help with. It’d be too easy for one of his relatives to be involved.

Relationships
You once got caught doing something that shames your legacy with ______________. Perhaps on camera letting loose a string of profanity while he fought? Real five dollar cusses.
You trust ______________ and told them an important secret of your legacy. I’m thinking Wingblade or the Silver Shadow, as they might already kind of know of each other.

Influence You’re a part of this team, for better or worse, and you care what they think. Give Influence to all of your teammates. (Works for me)

Legacy Moves:
Words of the past: When you seek the guidance of one of your elders or a member of your legacy, tell them a problem you face, and ask them a question about the problem. They will answer it honestly, and tell you what to do. Take +1 ongoing if you listen. If you go your own way, mark potential.

Never give up, never surrender: When you take a powerful blow from someone with far greater power than you, use this move instead of the basic move. Roll + Savior. On a hit, you stand strong and choose one. On a 7-9, mark a condition. - you get an opportunity or opening against your attacker - you rally from the hit, and it inspires the team; add 1 Team to the pool - you keep your attacker’s attention On a miss, you go down hard but leave your opponent off balance and vulnerable.

Legacy Your legacy is an important part of Halcyon City. Name the different members of your legacy (at least two):
Go (mom) is still active and prominent in the city.
DaDamerican (dad) is retired and quite judgmental. (Also it was never meant to be Dad American ...it’s a Dadaist thing.
____________________ is the next possible member of your legacy. (hmmm, perhaps a little sister? Or one of his dad’s students?)
Goebbels is the greatest opponent your legacy ever faced...and is still at large. (as he survives in a cloned body as Alt-Right activist and radio host George Lincoln.)

Whenever time passes, roll + Savior to see how the members of your legacy feel or react to your most recent exploits. Before rolling, ask the other players to answer these questions about your performance. Take -1 to the roll for each “no” answer: - have you been upholding the traditions of your legacy? - have you maintained the image of your legacy? - have you made the other members of your legacy proud? On a hit, one of them offers you meaningful encouragement, an opportunity, or an advantage. On a 7-9, another is upset with your most recent actions, and will make their displeasure known. On a miss, something you did stirred up the hornet’s nest—expect several members of your legacy to meddle with your life.
