Hey, sorry about this but I have to drop out here. Feel free to bot the character if you like.
Henry clicks at Blade, and both set off with the dwarf.
The next morning, assuming nothing happens in the night, we go on our way to the bandit camp.
Yarask, what do you think of the likelihood this is a trap of sorts. I mean the village gets rid of the bandits, and possible us so they get the supplies.
Henry smiles and says And likewise we won't kill you either.
Henry and blade stay watchful as illyri tends the wounded man. When that is done he says Come mage, let's be on our way
it's night now isn't it?
very well. We shall soon see who is at fault in this. We should leave as soon as the light is good
Henry lowers his bow and places the arrow in the quiver. Blade sits beside him, waiting for an order.
Sorry got a little busy. I'm back now
Henry relaxes his bow, but keeps the arrow nocked. The next words from the villages would determine what happens next.
No we are not bandits. We are investigating a missing supply Wagon. We found dead bodies and followed the trail to here. Are you saying you were not responsible?
diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Henry draws back his bow, but does not release. He awaits developments.
readied action. If the villagers move to attack, shoot.
readied shot if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Choose your next actions carefully
Yield now thieves, or suffer bloody constraint!
Henry slips in, as the village defenders focuses on the others. He picks his target and lets fly.
bow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Henry orders blade to guard. blade has a readied action to attack any who attack me
Oh man! Mutter grumble blasted dice
Henry indicates the hole, and nods his understanding to Rane. he mouths "how many? to him. Once that is done and he has an answer he then looks at Yarask to see if he wants to charge or not.
When the time comes Henry says Well, lets get this over with
He leads the party to the village so everyone can get a good look in the fading light.
Henry joins the conversation They also tried to conceal their crime. These men were shot with arrows, then left in shallow graves. This was an act of violence and theft. If the people in this village did this, then they are no better than bandits. And we hang bandits.
Henry shrugs unhappily. I dont like harming or killing people, but we were not the first to start killing. But we cannot allow this to be unanswered, or they will do it again and again.
Two ways that I can see. It depends on the situation at the villiage. Firstly we can simply demand the return of the wagon and supplies, negotiate a way out of this. We have enough enemies.
Or we simply attack. I couldn't see much of a guard, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one.We wait till night, slip in and neutralise the tower. Then we take out any other guards, keeping it as quiet as possible. When the alarm is raised we fight until we win.
Henry doesn't like the second alternative, but will do it if the group concurs.
sorry, when did that happen?
Henry slips back to the party.
When he gets there he says,
Its a fortified settlement, with a wooden stockade backed onto a river. The stockade has a large hole in it, so I thinking they have been attacked recently. There is a guard tower made of red stone on the corner facing us, and its manned by at least one guard. I couldn't see the wagon, but it may have been hidden by the wall. No sign of crop growing, soil looks unsuitable, but there are cattle about.
As he speaks he hunkers down and draws in the dirt a quick map of the settlement, from what he saw.
did the wagon tracks lead to the village?
Any guards, and can I see the wagon?
no problem
stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Henry slips into the shadows and advances to scout the settlement. Blade sits and awaits his master.
sorry mucked up my last post, I meant to say not killed by darkspawn. Oh well lets say henry made a mistake.
The wagon entered here, and left the same way. I don't think they are coming back, but we could follow them.
human, killed by darkspawn not long ago.
Henry checks for tracks
track (survival +1): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Careful they may still be around
A body. Blade, Guard!
Henry moves over to examine it.
Is it darkspawn or not?
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
blade perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
blade stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Henry strings his bow, and moves into the canyon attempting to move stealthily
stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
oh dice oh dice why hast thou forsaken me?
I'll take a three weeks rations from the foodmaster, if that's allowed. I need a bit extra for blade. Taking into account the journey here, and the journey to find the supply convoy, that leaves me 14 days, which equates to 7 days left for blade and myself
We are more liable for ambush on the lower route, but your point about those cliffs crumbling is well taken. It will take us a while though. I'll lead off, unless you want to.
Henry starts to move towards the canyon
survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Henry says farewell to Jace, telling him he will be back in couple of weeks, and he makes sure someone will look after him. however he is off his game survival wise
yes, let us be at it Henry said, thinking of the journey ahead.
What time is this meeting taking place, night or day? Are we leaving now, or the next day?
a supply train? From where? I thought there was no one who would send us supply trains.
Henry straightened in his chair. Are they from the empire?
Henry, settles back in his chair and looks at Anders.
So I take it we are here for some task you have in mind?
Yarask speaks the truth. The situation was becoming quite grim. Having said that his and our skill did hold the first rush, but the battle was very much in doubt.
Henry sits at the table, blade on the floor by his side.
Henry spends his time looking after the livestock, with an ever strengthening blade by his side. Young Jace came and worked with him, and soon Henry came to like the boy.
Jace my boy, if I can get the opportunity, I will make you your own bow he said one day, while teaching jace to fletch arrows.
When the message arrives Henry was looking for a bow staff, to make a bow, probably with little success. He quickly goes to the Anders house.
The first to arrive, he waits on the others. I wonder whats going on.
What, the darkspawn have dragons. Gods protect us.
Henry shakes the hand of Anders. I am pleased to meet you, although I wish it had been under better circumstances
He looks around and asksSo what now?
Is there a healer on the journey so blade can get the benefit of long term care? I have asked before but you may have missed it
Henry has spent the last couple of days tending Blade and making sure the lad whose mother was killed is looked after.
Is there a healer so blade can get the benefit of long term care?
Henry looks at the defenses and whistles.
Thats an impressive idea. Have the darkspawn ever attacked it?
Lets just asume we have introduced ourselves and move on.
I also had a post that introduced henry to both of you, and I complimented you also.
know nobility: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Wow another twenty. The universe must balance. We're going to be hit by an asteroid!
Henry lets the dwarves speak as he goes to check on Rane
If he is unconscious he will lift him up onto the wagon.
I understand, what I notrd was the chance to fail both saves expresssed as a single value.
I like the new template. For call of the old gods, why not simply have them attack like animals. They can get flank, by accident but not as an intentional move. No DR is good. I think orges and shrieks should get rage.
Thanks for the correction on the wound threshold.
I don't think the rage ability I noted is unbalanced as when the age ends the berserker probably colapses.
Let's not be hasty, gentlemen. We have enough enemies without slicing each other up.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Um, well. That's not going to work.
Henry helps illyra to one of the wagons, and then makes blade as comfortable as he can on the samw wagon. I really nrrd to learn some basic leech craft one os these days.
Tend to blade, staunching his wounds.
Mage, when you have healed him, can you help my blade?
To the boy he says, I'm truly sorry lad
When he gets the opportunity, Henry recovers what arrows he can.
1d100 ⇒ 64 1d100 ⇒ 49 1d100 ⇒ 54 1d100 ⇒ 13
Hmmm 2 arrows. Henry cleans the blood off them carefully.

Thinking a bit more.
The taint is very rough. I understand your reasons for it to be so but it is very rough.
If you have a genlock CON16, which with dwarf and darkspawn bonuses is realistic, then thats DC 15 fo the save. Now taking my character, which has a +1 save. That means I fail 65% of the time. To make two saves, so as to not die, is harder, failing 88 to 89% of the time. the time.
Now killing that genlock means taking out its wounds and vigor. Now taking the example of the genlock above, making it a warrior 2 that means 16 vigor and 32 wounds. Unless you critical with a high damga weapon, no first level character can drop one. Also with DR5 this becomes worse.
I suggest the following changes
1/ make it that to poison their weapons they must do wound damage to them selves, or another dark spawn. Say 1 point.
2/ say that after one hit or three vigor hits that the poison is rubbed of. It must be reapplied (see 1)
3/ allow a heal check to replce the 2nd fort save.
Also, on a unrelated note. Anyone under rage should be able to ignore the 50% wound rule, until they are out of rage.
Blades con check 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
blade collapses BLADE Henry yells shooting at the nearest darkspawn
bow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
I disagree. Think about this combat. I have taken four wounds thus far, my companion has taken 20. Thats a lot of days healing, even with heal skill support. Now if the mage does nothing but heals, remember it is one per die healing of wounds, that will mean if the mage goes down we go down as we cannot quickly heal our wounds.
I think potions are an important part of the game. And this means it means finding ingredients is an important role, stocking on the potions is also important. It adds a supply context. It also means if someone wants to go alchemist they have a role.
The GM can control the number of potions we have by controlling the amount of ingredients we find, and also those that are for sale.
