Whipporwhill:
Vick squirms for a moment, not even thinking to try porting until after it's mentioned, but by then it's a familiar voice that rings out to him, so he doesn't. Upon viewing this adult in such bad shape, Vick starts to wonder if he's about to get dragged in over his head again. And after her hurried explanation, the answer is, yes. Yes he was. He quickly gets a clarification on what kind of illusion she needs him to keep up, and then does nothing to stop her from leaving other than gesturing at her and making her for all intents and purposes appear to be a mildly upset hobo with an oversized backpack, which he would keep up for an hour or so, or until he got too distracted to keep it rolling anymore. Then he manifests an illusionary energy drink and resumes what he was doing, because doing anything other than that would be a dead giveaway.
So for now, Hashtag stands in the street sipping his energy drink. When Bran and Thor Girl show up, his eyebrows raise, and he pads over to the two in his pajama pants (featuring comic book style BLAM! WHAM! BOOM! decorations) and flip-flops. His chest is bare, save for a large bandage taped to his skin over a reddened and angry stitched wound. "Hey." he says, taking an annoying long sip. "So why'd it fall down?" He seems tired, aching, and most likely still on some kind of drug. He scratches at the bandage absently before yawning. "I got a call but I was under the impression that we were DISBANDED."

Hashtag doesn't show up right away. In truth, most of him didn't want to answer the call at all. That and he had not noticed the ping until it was on the second round of beeps. Still, he took his time getting dressed and made a pit-teleport to the local gas station to buy an energy drink before getting to the clocktower. After all, it was probably just someone from the defenders complaining about him repainting the lobby ceiling again. What he found, however, was something entirely different. The tower collapsing meant that his initial teleport left him midair. But thankfully he's had experience with fall-porting and he pops over to a nearby street to look at what was left of the tower. "Shit... I just painted the lobby. Didn't need to take it THAT far." Hashtag comments, popping the tab on his drink and taking a gulp.

When Vick awoke in a hospital room, he was frustrated. When he heard the news of Shayera's passing, his heart fell. Before he could even start to cope with her loss, he heard (from Eli) that the Defenders disbanded THEM, for doing a mission that they had given them. Hashtag was pushed to a new level of furious he had never even thought possible. It was at that moment he understood how his mother killed two heroes in an instant. It would have been easy. So goddamn easy it would have been like breathing. Hell, he could have gotten away with it too. Break a thermometer, teleport the mercury into a certain a@*$!#* hero's brain. Vick considered it. But he couldn't. He had raged to himself long enough that the hot edge of his fury cooled. He knew it would only further disappoint everyone else. But what was worse about ALL OF IT was that her sacrifice meant absolutely nothing. The data he had gotten knifed to secure... No one even cared about it anymore. She died for nothing. He didn't even know what to do with the data, so it sat untouched in the credenza in his foster family's living room. It's not like he had TOLD anyone where it was or what happened to it, and after hearing about their disbanding he had held onto it out of spite. Instead, he spent the night, every night, doing his thing. Shayera's picture was graffitied over any surface he could find within a 20 mile radius of her clocktower base. To the point where he had to start nicking cans of spraypaint to finish them.
Shayera is found all over the city, her wings outspread to shield the faceless suffering from harm, carry them from burned-out buildings, or hold the dark alleyways at bay. The pictures look almost religious, and obviously rendered with great care and affection. Each painting is photographed before anyone can remove them or paint over them, and soon social media is flooded with various shots.

I'll take the hit 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 5) + 1 = 11
I... what's a handle doing there? he thinks, realizing after a pregnant pause that it's attached to a knife blade jutting into his gut. A stream of blood leaks from his mouth as he sinks to his knees with a wince. "Shit." he mutters, looking at Wingblade with a pained look on his face. "They ruined my shirt..." He falls to his side, unconscious.

Take a Heavy Blow: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 2) + 1 = 5 Holy shite, I think I don't get banged up this time! I mark potential for that too since the moves book says so, right? The spec-ops have fighting experience, but Vick's been getting thrashed by tougher (and stronger) people than them for a long time now. Just before Vick strikes the wall he vanishes in a crack barely heard over the sounds of battle and Thor girl's rampage. "Just a Punk? That's insulting!" Hashtag exclaims, standing in the middle of them. "I've been working hard for years to be more than just a punk." Directly Engage: 2d6 + 0 ⇒ (6, 3) + 0 = 9

Against what would be considered your standard tech, no it wouldn't see through it, since he's basically overlaying himself with an image of what's around him, including thermal, light amplification, and ultraviolet (since he's seen people use that stuff in movies he's been practicing). However, stuff like LADAR or anything able to read the air displaced by his presence would be able to pin him down pretty easy. And electromagnetic senses, since he still has his phone and earpiece on him too... and his 3DS... Super hearing would work too.
Documents? I wanna see! Vick has a split second to react to the situation as they move to exit the way they came. He dives to the side, reaching out and tapping the backpack on the lead guy's person and thinking of the next place that popped up in his mind... Raccoon Buddy's place. What would I roll to try to effectively 'swipe' the guy's stuff? I'm trying to teleport his backpack (and contents) into the trunk of the car in the parking garage we arrived in. Add something?: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

Well DUH! Soldiers, even big dumb bad guys, are going to carry sidearms! he thinks. Quit being a dumbass and figure out where you can do the most damage! His eyes take in the whole situation, from the shadow things to the soldiers to... the f*ck, is that Bronwyn from school... and he takes a moment to Assess the Situation. Assess: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 3) + 3 = 7

At the appearance of three spec-ops types, Hashtag's face brightens.
Are you watching closely?: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 4) + 3 = 13

Hashtag snatches the paper out of the air, creating an illusory flashlight to create light for him to read by and looks it over while there's apparently a scrap going on in the next room. Not to be callous, but I'm not useful fighting giant EYELESS beasties. What's on the research paper?

Why do I have a bad feeling about this? Vick holds his hand out. "Thor Girl! Wait!" he exclaims. "Busting through stuff's not a good way to- and she's gone." He sighs. "Well, that's one more kid going to therapy."

Hashtag will get up the elevator with a series of staggered short hops, using the short instant before gravity affects him to reorient and 'port again. Reaching the top of the 5th floor, he hangs onto one of the elevator's brake rails and looks out the doors into the hallway. "Guys... anyone ever see Aliens?" he asks. "Getting a real vibe here."

"... Like the one that Bioshock's wearing." Hashtag adds, after he looks. Yup. Thats an ascott. Also known as a neckerchief. And it looks ridiculous on a hero costume. "But that being said, we should move fast. C'mon Bran, let's go find some butts to kick and stuff. I"ll cheer you on." he says, moving to catch up with Bran. "Seriously... why does a crappy place like this have Artificer's tech in it? Must have been legit back in the day."
Ji-Wan "Vick" Zeng Conditions: Guilty; Potential 4/5; Delinquent
"If we're splitting the gang up, does that make me Shaggy, or scooby?" he asks, temporarily wearing a scooby doo collar. "I hope its not Fred. I can't rock the ascott like Bioshock-err some people could."

"Oh hey-GREAT GOOGA MOOGA!" Hashtag barely has time to shout in surprise as he is subject to a personal ride through a building ceiling. Afterwards, he staggers, leaning against a wall. "Why are all the girls on this team so forceful? My poor body..." he groans quietly.
Ji-Wan "Vick" Zeng Conditions: Guilty; Potential 4/5; Delinquent
"All I'm gonna say, is that I liked the new Oz movie. With James Franco? Got all kinds of neat fireworks ideas from that." Hashtag replies to Eli's reference. "But when it comes to people doing terrible stuff, they're usually meaning well. People have good intentions, have a reason. Most everyone does things because they feel they are in the 'right'." he thinks back about his mother. "Not everyone does evil things because they desire to be evil for the sake of it. Some of u-I mean some people feel they have no other choice."
Ji-Wan "Vick" Zeng Conditions: Guilty; Potential 4/5; Delinquent
"And we get more of the plot this way." Hashtag says plainly. "C'mon Bioshock, haven't you watched any horror movies? We can't be reasonable in these kinds of situations. Next someone's going to get left behind or separated from the group."

Vick actually brought an entire party with him, in costumes. It's like his favorite holiday EVER. So after collecting candy all night he shows up at school the next day carrying a full pillowcase of candy. He has like 2 more at home. He does give out a bunch of it, though. He maaaay have also illusioned like 2 dozen extra costumed trick or treaters to help collect. And crashed like 3 parties.

There's nothing I've used yet that involves my advancement, so I haven't really needed to worry about it. However the Dangerous Web move is from the Janus: Dangerous web: When you reveal a trap you’ve left for someone using your powers, roll + your mask’s Label. On a hit, your opponent trips into it, and you get an opening or opportunity against them. On a 10+, take +1 forward to pursuing it. On a miss, the trap inadvertently leads to a dangerous escalation.I don't have a label; the Janus does. I can't take a Nova move; they require burn. I can't take Protege moves; they require a mentor. I can't take from Doomed; I have no Doomsign. That's half the playbooks, not counting mine. Feels like one of those choices that sounds cool at first, but starts becoming less cool the more you actually look at it. Which is a shame, because Dangerous Web is totally something that Hashtag would use.

Hey so I never got it figured out for me, but I had asked WAY back about my advancement and taking a move from another playlist. I wanted to take Dangerous Web, but I think that relies on another playbook's 'mechanic' to work, which makes me wonder what CAN I really take with that... cause otherwise that advancement is pretty much totally useless and a waste of print space.

Vick flops himself out of the trunk, chuckling to himself. "Raccoon buddy, you da best." he says jokingly, closing the trunk and watching it pop back open again. "Eh." he concludes, turning to look at Thor Girl as she staggers over to his end of the car. "Look, I think that went really well." he said. "That was not very bad considering I just chucked the entire team across the whole freaking city." He watches as the group starts the operation and rolls his eyes. Not even a thank you. God. He uses the powers he's more practiced and familiar with; creating very realistic illusions.
"All-right, ladies and gents, stick close to me and no one will ever see or hear you unless you're breathing down their neck. If you are... well I suppose you know what to do." he declares.

Vick lets Wingblade step out and flops onto his back. "I'll uh, just need a moment. Just leave me here with my raccoon buddy here." he pants. Oh god! My ribs! he struggles to catch his breath, though he tries to look like he's just collecting himself mentally. He had quickly illusioned the smell of dead 'coon into something more pleasant, like lavender.

"Oops." he says, not entirely sorry about any happy accidents, but he feels around (the space) and sighs. "Yeah. Raccoon. I think this is a car-"
He reaches into his pants and pulls out his cell phone (thankfully). Turning it on, it is immediately obvious they're stuck in the trunk of an old derelict car. "Huh. I mean, I was aiming for a parking structure, but... really?" he mutters to himself, trying to think about baseball or his math homework and not the fact there was a girl literally in direct close body contact with him.

Vick stands up and cracks his neck. "All right boys and girls, gotta put a hand on me... and keep it above the belt, all right?" he says, moving to the center of an open space. If the group gets a solid grip on him, he will close his eyes and concentrate. Eli Only:
A faint whisper appears in your ears. Jack in and make sure I don't overdo it, kay?
The 'port was fast, sure, but it sure as hell didn't FEEL pleasant. Those who had been ported by him before would have gotten used to the disorienting nature of his power. Kaleidoscope dreams and half-past futures flash by for an instant before they Arrive.

Hashtag raises a hand. "The stuff." he says, as if it meant something. "The stuff he was on, whatev's you want to call it." Looking around, he shrugs. "What? Power-amplifying compounds don't just show up when you mix household chemicals. Especially not shit that makes a dude go from bending to breaking all the goddamn rules like that." He shrugs. "And he wasn't the murdering type, before. Well, not like he was. God he looked like a PCP junkie." -Posted with Wayfinder

Vick had to make a choice, but was tormented by the realm he was in. Every time he started to decide one way or another, the in-between seemed to fracture more, each crack revealing the terrible consequences his decision would unleash. In his heart, he wanted to go through the gate to rescue his mother. Saving her would be easy. Shove Eli away from the train, and take her with him on a short 'port to the side. But that was considering his powers worked properly. That bastard Haxor really f+%#ed him over. He should never have let his past friendship with the kid soften his response. What use is there for a kid like Vick, who played games with pictures when people put their lives on the line? He knew what his mother would want. Her guilt over Redline and Overhaul's deaths was no secret. If she could atone by some grand action, then she would have. He knew what she would tell him right now, if she could. I love you, mom. he thought, turning to the aquarium gate. Eli, I hope you got the chops. He takes a deep breath and goes through. Whipporwhill, I'm going to save you!

"I dunno what it's real name is, but I've called it the in-between. It's where I go before I go somewhere else. Einstein-Rosenbridge-type shit." He shakes his head again. "Look, my teleportation's borked, but if you can 'port, I can guide you. I don't need directions to find my mom. We're guideposts for each other." Hard to explain without a lot of exposition, which we don't have time for, obviously.

Hashtag felt stuck for eons. Minutes, even. And then Bioshock shows up and he shakes his head. "Eli?" he asks, rubbing his eyes. "This place is whack, yo. You shouldn't be here. Or are you a different Eli? One from another place?" He struggles to straighten up. "Doesn't matter, gotta fix this and go save my mom." he says, gesturing to the strange portal energy still leaking off of him.
