Harumi frowned a bit as she heard the report, but nodded. "...I believe we should follow that trail." she said, indicating the sole separate path. "Most people forget about the halflings, but they've actually done quite well for themselves. If they're the ones who made these tracks, then they probably noticed something nobody else had... and they're certainly not the type to wander into danger if they can avoid it."

"I'm curious about why one group went a different direction." Harumi said quietly. "Can anybody tell whether the different group went first, last, or somewhere between?" A talented tracker might be able to do so... though it was also possible that such information could be gleaned. It might be important, though, and she wanted to find out the answer if at all possible.

Harumi whispered under her breath, casting Mage Hand, then simply pulled it over, grabbed it with her real hand, and began testing it on the wall by pushing in and dragging the rock along. This should be enough to make some kind of marking - and all they really needed was for it to be obvious enough that a mark had been made. "Let's see..."

Harumi looked faintly amused as the beetle ran away from the noise. Animals could be surprisingly easy to deal with as long as you understood their motivations and had a sense of what they'd be afraid of. With no hesitation, she joined the others in looking through the caverns and trying to spot anything that might be important. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 "By the way, we might want to mark the route to the exit in case we need to leave in a hurry..." she added in a casual, off-hand remark.

Harumi watched as the attacks didn't seem to be working very well on the beetles - but then, most people trained to fight other people instead of smaller vermin, so perhaps that was to be expected. With that, she focused her divine energies, then cast out a noise, making it sound like something that might eat beetles like them. Perhaps this would startle them enough to help the others get a free hit in. "That was me." she called a moment later, just to be sure none of her companions were fooled. Initiative (Second Roll): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 ...Not actually a meaningful change, since my improved modifier means I'd go first anyway, and it still doesn't change the order. XD Temporal Celerity means I roll initiative twice and can pick either - noted in my stat bar for easy reference. Harumi blinked as the beetled appeared, the split in time she followed not doing much this time around - perhaps it thought she wasn't going to need the help. With that, she simply stepped back to observe how things were doing - and provide a bit of healing if necessary.

"Indeed it is." Harumi said, smiling at Umina. "It's also saved my life in the past, so I'm quite fond of it. Besides, some technology doesn't like water very much - while I hate to hurt it, perhaps it will prove useful if we really need to disable something."
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
Umina seemed to have the searching well in hand, so Harumi simply cast Detect Magic to look around the area. It interacted in odd ways with technology, but could be surprisingly useful for finding, say, people radiating magical signatures. It didn't really cost her anything, and the chance it would help meant it was worth trying. "By the way, I can create as much fresh water as we need, in case anyone gets thirsty." she said. Assuming the spell currently affecting them didn't repel it away, of course... yay, magic!

Harumi waited calmly as she sank down to the bottom, then moved over to the hole and examined it for a moment before slipping inside and carefully watching the path ahead as she went. Reacting to danger would be harder here - even for her - so it was best to stay on guard. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Ah, a couple of girls diving into water while surrounded by men. Sigh. Oh, well - they had people to save, dangit. With that, she simply dove into the water and began swimming forward, determined to make the most of what time they had. This wasn't an infinite-use spell, and the clock was already ticking... something she understood very well. The sooner they could find the others, the more likely it was they'd be able to save them.
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
Harumi calmly followed the others, carefully considering her options. The most important thing was ensuring the safety of as many people as possible... and she couldn't get caught up in obsessing over any technology they might find, no matter how much she'd enjoy doing so. Ah, well. At least the Weeping Pond wasn't too far away.
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
Harumi blinked a few times. "That... should be enough to bring people back if we have some who can quickly pull others." she said, thinking carefully. Swimming wasn't one of her strong points, so she'd have to take it slower than others did... but in another sense, that just meant she was more free to move around and help others.
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
"Harumi. And you are... very interesting." the Oracle said, leaning over a bit as she examined up and down Galaeta's body. She smiled a few moments later, though. "I'll see what I can do if there's any locks barring our way - I should be able to do at least a bit to... encourage them to open. It's not at a professional level, I'm afraid, but every power is useful."
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
"A buried metal door?" Harumi asked, her thoughts racing. That was... very interesting indeed, and a wider smile crossed her face. This could out to be something truly fascinating after all, couldn't it? Metal doors generally meant either something important or something related to the great crashed mountain... especially when they were in an unexpected place. One thing she never wanted to do was lie to herself - she was very curious about this.
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
Harumi eyed Hitomi for a few moments, then looked back towards Dolga. "That's quite a sum of money." she mused. "However, I think it's most important to focus on who we're getting back, not what the reward is." She'd had... ample opportunity to consider the problems that being selfish was brought - mortal minds just weren't meant to see the kinds of things she did. "This isn't something our town can just ignore, either. I'll do what I can to help."
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
Harumi quietly looked around the room, considering her options. She was feeling slightly uncomfortable around Umina, but... "If we're going to mount another expedition, I believe it should be in as much force as possible." she mused, talking more to herself than anyone else. "I do hope we'll be able to find the others somewhere inside." That would certainly be for the best, but one could never be entirely sure when dealing with the unknown. At least she had her curse to help keep her safe.
Since it was mentioned another might be needed... 1d3 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
I think I shall take these for Harumi. XD On sourcebooks: Are 1001 Spells (Rite Publishing) and/or Deep Magic (Kobold Press) acceptable? Either way, here's how things currently look for me: Crunch: Harumi

It... does not appear they've posted on Paizo since they were here. Give it another day or two, then start to be concerned?
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
And now, I'm mostly just waiting for a gameplay thread to dot so this campaign can be added to my tab. XD Should probably work on expanding Harumi's backstory, too... might get to that a little later.
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
It's always nice to hear that other people are glad I got in. XD Hmm... I think I will go for Harumi having been in town for awhile - it's easier to roleplay her being a bit more used to her powers, if still a bit dizzied whenever they start acting up. Perhaps staying at any church the village has...?
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
An Android who likes nature and an Aasimar who likes technology... indeed, there are things. XD How about the rest of you?
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
Now we just need Doctor Impossible and we'll be all set... and brownie points to anyone who gets the reference. Though inherently religious instead of technological, Harumi does have an avid interest in all technology - Galaeta would certainly have a friend there if she wanted one. After all, neither of them is truly normal for the world. ^^
Aasimar Oracle 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 13, T: 11, FF: 12 | Fort: +1, Ref: +1, Will: +3 | BAB: +0, CMB: +1, CMD: 12 | Touch: +1, Ranged Touch: +1 | Init: +1 [2 Rolls], Perception: +7 |
And I'm just checking in! As noted in the name, I'll be playing a time-themed Oracle, balancing healing for the team with various utility powers to support everyone else. Now, with that out of the way... I suppose it's time to see where we're at in terms of backstories? Harumi's is relatively straightforward - she could've been in the village for days or years, based on what's convenient for everyone else and how well we'd like our characters to know each other.
About Henry RavenheartCheliax. Not the destination Henry Ravenheart dreamed of but it’s better than detective work in undead-ridden marshlands or the lairs of dragonkin. Commissioned to investigate a series of violent incidents and missing shipments of lumber, Henry Ravenheart discovers that the evidentiary findings point to the workings of several agents who all embarked from Kintargo in Cheliax. He sets off to Kintargo to find the primary cause of the incidents (and to earn a tidy sum upon his return). Henry soon finds himself at the center of a brewing uprising with more leads than he can handle. As the events unfold, Henry increasingly puts off his considerations of gold to search for true meaning and bolster the rebel causes around him. ----
Cheliax. Your eyes quickly dim as you reexamine the contents of the furled, parchment missive. Your senses initially beg you to stay, screaming, but your training has taught you to read deeper into the options, left few and far by your dwindling coin pouch. Not to mention that the contract’s tidy payment in advance should add a level of stability to this particular quest. Your mind weighs the options, and swiftly calculates that the missive contains a lucrative bounty for the information gained pursuant to the investigation. I’ll do it. I’m your man you exclaim, signing Henry Ravenheart on the printed line of each copy of the contract. A smile grows on the bald, heavy face of the man peering across from you. He takes a damp, greasy cloth from his pocket with his gem studded paw, unfolding the cloth. I know you’re the one for the job. And congratulations on your first real investigation the man wheezes, as he pulls a quill from the cloth to sign the agreement. You sweep up a copy and place it in your pouch, heading to the door. Much better than the missive on slogging through 200 miles of swampland, all in search of some resolute dracolisk, you offer while shooting a quick smile to the man. I’ll leave that one to my rivals. You sweep out the door and down the crumbling granite steps, gaining confidence in your choice from the booming laughter of the man within. |
