Hi gang,

I don't see anything in the description of the Liquid Glass material (Merchant's Manifest p.17) that says it can't be used to make ranged weapons and ammunition. If I were to make a bow out of liquid glass, and some arrows out of liquid glass, would I get +2 damage on each hit, assuming both the bow and the arrow were in perfect condition?

I've generally considered material bonuses on weapons to only really apply if you were actually hitting something with the weapon (such as with adamantine), but since the base damage of the shot is determined by the bow itself, I imagine a liquid glass bow would improve that by virtue of being in good condition and thus launching the projectile with more force.

Similarly, I know you add the modifiers of the bow to the modifiers of the arrow (keeping only the bigger enhancement modifier), but I would assume a liquid glass arrow would also add +1 damage to the hit. This material also doesn't have the rider I've seen on things like Horacalcum saying that the modifiers don't apply to ammunition.

Note that this is more of a thought experiment - ignore the cost logistics involved :)

Thanks!

Well, there's an item in a specific module that does what you're thinking of. Maybe that was it?

Module name: ** spoiler omitted **
Item description: ** spoiler omitted **

That was it!

Thank you very much :)

Hi gang,

I vaguely remember seeing, a few years back, a reagent that you could add to a potion you were crafting to increase its potency - a stone or something that could be dissolved in the mixture to increase its duration. I THOUGHT it was a magical item, but I'm having a hard time finding it now.

I might be out of my mind here, but was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what it might have been? I've searched high and low for it on google, and I've spend hours digging through Hero Lab item lists, but I can't find anything aside from the Nethys's Dagger herb.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

Ahhh, that makes much more sense now. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question!

Thanks! I think the part that was causing more confusion for me was the second half of the text - I don't really understand why that piece even needs to be included, UNLESS they only intended you to select a single weapon with the first part of the effect.

Hey gang,

I'm having some trouble interpreting the "Egoistic" dynamic item creation perk.

First, the official wording to save you from having to look it up:

Quote:
All of the bearer's feats and class features that affect a specific weapon or weapon group change to affect the egoistic weapon's type or group as long as she possesses the weapon. If the bearer can specify more than one type or group, she can choose which weapon or group she retains and which switch to the egoistic weapon's type or group.

Now, imagine a (terrible) character with the following feats:

  • Weapon Focus (Longsword)
  • Weapon Specialization (Longsword)
  • Weapon Focus (Quarterstaff)
  • Quarterstaff Master
  • Weapon Focus (Dagger)
  • Greater Weapon Focus (Dagger)

Let's say you craft a Greatsword and rolled the "Egoistic" perk. What happens?

On my original reading of "Egoistic", I assumed it meant that any feat or class ability that calls out a specific weapon or weapon group now applies to the Egoistic weapon. In this case, you're basically gaining Weapon Focus (Greatsword) (once, since it can't stack), Greater Weapon Focus (Greatsword), Weapon Specialization (Greatsword), and can now wield the greatsword with one hand, thanks to Quarterstaff Master.

However, I'm wondering if I'm misinterpreting the intention of "specific weapon" here, as it could be read as saying you had to pick ONE specific weapon - either the Quarterstaff feats, the Dagger feats, OR the Longsword feats.

To throw another wrench into things, the phrasing of the last line makes it seem like, if you had more than two options, you pick ONE to stay and the others switch.

Basically trying to work out which of these three scenarios happen:

  • A. You gain Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, and Quarterstaff Master, all applicable to the Greatsword
  • B. You gain Weapon Focus, ONE of the following: Greater Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, or Quarterstaff Master, applicable to the Greatsword
  • C. You gain Weapon Focus, and TWO of the following: Greater Weapon Focus, Weapon Specialization, or Quarterstaff Master, applicable to the Greatsword

Thank you for any direction you can provide!
