Age: 30 Gender: Male (he/him/his) Height: 39" (99cm) Weight: 40 lbs (18 kg) Scales: Bronze Color Rather than the mottled coloration of a normal Kobold, Haechi's scales are almost entirely the same unvarying color: A bright bronze. There are some slight tonal differences across his body: His palms, soles, throat, chest and base of tail are a slightly lighter, almost golden tint; a strip of slightly darker scales runs from the top of his head down the middle of his back and all the way to the tip of his tail; the claws on his hands and feet, as well as the pupils of his eyes, are the bright turquoise-green color of bronze patina. He usually covers his body in a long hooded dark-brown cloak tied at the neck. He wears a sleeveless hunter-green leather jerkin that leaves his shoulders and arms bare. From his waist hangs a mid-thigh length leather skirt of a similar color. His legs and feet are bare. A couple of pouches, a whip, and a dagger in a sheath can be seen hanging from his belt. Haechi's spellbook, which he rarely brings out in public, appears to be composed of thin curved bronze plates shaped much like dragon scales, bound at one end with two steel rings. The spells are scratched onto the surface of the plates, and the cover scale, engraved in ornate decorations, bears the book's name in Draconic: "opus arcanum potentia draco". Background:
Haechi's home warren is under the foothills of the Southern Range of Taldor's World's Edge Mountains. When Haechi was born, it was immediately obvious that this was no ordinary kobold. Rather than the mottled coloration of a normal member of his ancestry, Haechi's scales were almost entirely the same unvarying color: A bright bronze. Great things were expected of him; perhaps he would become a powerful Sorcerer to lead them to a better life; or maybe a great warrior to defend the warren. Instead, he developed a deep fascination with his dragon ancestors; the bronze dragons to which he owed his odd appearance. He thus decided to devote his life to the their study, and especially that of the first bronze dragon, Apsu, Maker of All. He quickly exhausted his birth warren's meager knowledge on the subject and at a relatively young age for a kobold, headed out into the world in search of more draconic scholarship. As many young adventurers, he first headed to Absalom, where he joined the Pathfinder Society, mainly as a pretext to gain access to the big library at the Grand Lodge. As part of his studies at the Grand Lodge, he showed a predisposition for spellcasting, and trained as a wizard; favoring the magic of his draconic roots; and picking up his familiar, Haetae, along the way. Between the occasional Pathfinder Society mission, he spends his time researching dragon lore in his beloved Lodge library. Feats:

Exploration: Haechi's default exploration mode is Detect Magic, but if someone else is already doing that, he will switch to Avoid Notice +6. Encounter: Haechi will avoid getting within melee distance of any opponent and prefers to strike from range if at all possible. His preferred attacks are the cantrips Electric Arc and Telekinetic Projectile, depending on the distances involved and the type and number of opponents. In more serious encounters, he'll buff the tank with Magic Weapon and then unleash the attack spells from a distance. If he has a spare action left in his turn, he will normally cast Shield on himself. If the battle gets too close to him, he will tend to retreat to safety rather than enter the melee. Only in extremis will he ball up his fists (or pull out his daggers), and wade into the fight in person. If his presence as a flanking buddy is absolutely required, then he will take his whip in hand and flank from reach. |
