Guillaume swirls the wine in his glass, a passable vintage for sure yet nothing upon the fine grape of home, and smiles as Karayan discusses his heritage... and then as talk turns to Lady Heidmarch's original selection of Pathfinders, he proposes a toast, "To the Society... to newly found friends... and to our paths crossing again one day..."

The next day, Guillaume has left before sunrise... his mind already set on a return to Magnimar and another stay amongst the monuments of the grand city. And maybe one day, adventure...

I'll have a little bit of fun writing an Easter Egg later on this evening... thanks very much for the opportunity of exploring the world of PFS. I had great fun and it was interesting to see how Scenarios differ from the world of Modules and AP's...

In terms of feedback, what is there to say? As a GM you kept the adventure moving at a fantastic pace, the world we explored was full of characterisation and colour (and I suspect quite a lot of this was beyond the 'read-aloud' text from within the scenario) and I think everyone felt properly involved... all in all, a top class performance.

In terms of PFS itself, I think it is something that I will dip in and out of... it definitely scratches an itch in terms of a self-contained adventure that, within the realms of PbP, you can reasonably expect to run for a few months... that is definitely a bonus when you think of the time investment needed for larger adventures... so maybe it'll be something where I look for PbP Gamedays and favourite GMs rather than have Guillaume racing through scenarios...

And, thanks to everyone else who played... fun times and I'm sure I'll see you around on the boards (a given for quite a few here!!!)

...and looking for that boon: 1d20 ⇒ 6, yeah, maybe not!!!!

There is a note of sadness in Guillaume's voice as he agrees with Shelya, "You are probably right... there's a strong chance that unless we take this ourselves, it will never find its way to the right place - and then Goldtooth will never face justice".

Guillaume is cautious, "Be careful with the poisons then..."

Guillaume nods at Dalen's observations, "If the assassin is to go to trial then this evidence will surely damn them... do you think we should leave it in situ and get an official down here to collect it up?"

Ahhh... some bits and bobs to tie the story together. It's an easier story thread to follow when they're all on the table in front of you!!!

Male Human Inquisitor 1, 10/12HP, AC17 T13 FF14, CMD15, F2 R2 W4, Init +2, Perception+4

Apparently the only one to see it, Guillaume calls out to Dalen, "STOP!!! You don't see it? Just there at ankle height? A wire... no doubt set to deter anyone investigating this place". The inquisitor ponders for a moment, "There seems to be nothing here of real value... yet that desk? I wonder, whoever uses this place must wish to remain undiscovered..."

GM, is it possible to step over or around the tripwire? Or is someone going to have the fun of attempting a Disable Device roll?

Guillaume observes Shelya with a smile, her words were kind... and diplomatic...

No need for any kind of Aid Anothers here I think :)

Guillaume is mildly uncomfortable at the idea of simply handing this would-be assassin over to the authorities - he knows little of the regime here in Korvosa and has encountered too many corrupt officials in his time to be reassured that justice is waiting for their captive - still, it wasn't to be helped and, right now, there was more to be learnt. When Eamon suggests Traitor's Mews, Guillaume nods in agreement...

Still not able to gain the attention of the crowd moving against him, Guillaume struggles to move much closer to the Qadiran. Shouting to his companions, he calls out that someone needs to put out the fire...

Guillaume, Move and Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

So Guillaume really doesn't have much that would get the fire under control... so he's going to prioritise taking down the Qadiran.

Guillaume's smile at this additional healing is quickly snuffed out as Maximos admits to having stolen and then sold what wasn't his... and then this? If what he was saying is true then who was their sponsor? Was this Zeeva all that they had been led to believe?

Feeling his acid-burnt skin where it is puckered and sore, Guillaume winces towards Dalen, "That was an unpleasant parting shot". Grimacing, "I was too slow, didn't see it coming"... the inquisitor, faithful of Iomedae, rests his hand on his fellow believer as Eamon sends a wave of healing washing across him, "Thankyou..."

Horrifically burnt by the acid spray, Guillaume can only lash out blindly at the escaping beast... his sword slashing air and naught else... staggering backwards, Guillaume withdraws from combat.

Guillaume, put on the spot slightly by Maximos, is unsure how to respond, "My companion Dalen is far more graceful than I... she would make for the better performer. Of that, I am sure... but, if you wish, then of course I am available to help".

Or maybe we can just offer better healing?

"If I may, I can call upon the Inheritor's grace... I am no healer yet I could look at the wound?"

Offering a CLW to Maximos...

A rehearsal for a play... of course!!! But with sharp steel? What were they thinking?

Guillaume has some skill with the blade yet he is pleased when it is Dalen who is 'volunteered' to stand in for the injured man.

Guillaume, momentarily taken aback by the majesty of the amphitheatre, follows Eamon and Karayan. His armour is heavy and doesn't lend itself well to such stealthy movements... but he is surprisingly quiet - quieter at least than his companions.

Guillaume, Stealth (Armour Check Penalty): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 2 = 16

Guillaume flashes Eredur a look before putting his recommendation behind Karayan's suggestion, "The dragons should hear his apology... let him explain his actions. And then he repays his not inconsiderable debt to Cadmion by working without recompense".

If not that then the other options on the table must surely be no worse than a period incarceration...

Male Human Inquisitor 1, 10/12HP, AC17 T13 FF14, CMD15, F2 R2 W4, Init +2, Perception+4

Guillaume listens, with some measure of sympathy, to Craik's excuses...

For whatever reason, this man was following his heart... a passion even. In his shoes, if life had led me to an artistic calling, would I have done anything different?

Conflicted, between a desire to understand - almost a sympathy - what this man was driven by and the sure knowledge that this act was beyond what he as an inquisitor of the Inheritor could tolerate, Guillaume is thankful that the responsibility for determining the severity of punishment fell with someone else.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Inquisitor 1, 10/12HP, AC17 T13 FF14, CMD15, F2 R2 W4, Init +2, Perception+4

Taking a seat opposite Craik, Guillaume fixes the man with a stare, "Why did you do it? Was the culinary pleasure that your Lady Qualstair worth it? And what of the the dragons to whom those eggs belonged? These are not simple beasts that you can treat as cattle... they are not here to put food on your table nor coin in your pocket". Strangely, Guillaume's words are not set out as some judgement... more genuine bewilderment that someone would do such a thing as he had...

Male Human Inquisitor 1, 10/12HP, AC17 T13 FF14, CMD15, F2 R2 W4, Init +2, Perception+4

There is no trace of a smile as Guillaume acknowledges Eamon's acknowledgement of the Inheritor's faithful, [b]"Indeed brother... indeed. Guillaume's voice is soft yet, beneath the warm words, lies an implication... an unspoken - yet far from hidden suggestion - that Craik should really consider being truthful right now...

Guillaume, Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

But, stumbling over his words, he is far from convincing...

Wow... time to roll a '1'!!!

Guillaume balks at the thought of the deception that Shelya was suggesting, this was not an honourable thing to do... but needs must and, if the pseudodragon was correct then this shiny-headed man did not deserve to be dealt with honourably. Glancing at Karayan, he nods and smiles...

Guillaume maintains his calm... the hippogriff seems somewhat less of a danger than when the door was first opened... and the 'dragons' are far from the tyrannical beasts of the ancient tales. Indeed, Guillaume's thoughts are now far more towards the small creature that had escaped upwards into the rafters...

I thought we were investigating more than one Pseudodragon?

Looking upwards, the inquisitor attempts to determine if there are any more of these 'dragons' roosted out of sight...

Suddenly, the sweet foods that Eamon had brought with him - despite seeming a little ridiculous a few moments ago - seem like exactly the thing... Guillaume doesn't reach for his weapon, at least not yet, and attempts to make soothing noises.

Well... this is unexpected

Offering to take one of the trenchers of stew from Dalen, Guillaume flashes the cook a smile...

So then... my first 'dragon'...

Guillaume heads for the stairs, wondering what it was that had excited these creatures so... and, maybe a little more importantly, what they were going to do about it beyond offering some stew!!!

Guillaume knows nothing of pseudo-dragons, yet he is pretty sure that suggesting that they are little more than lizard with fake wings was going to do little to recover the situation that Eamon seemed to have single-handedly fashioned. It is fortunate then that Karayan appears to have a gift for diplomacy... although Guillaume can't help but notice the insinuation that Cadmion should gift the group board and lodgings...

I'm not sure that we are in a position to negotiate that yet!!!

Male Human Inquisitor 1, 10/12HP, AC17 T13 FF14, CMD15, F2 R2 W4, Init +2, Perception+4

Not for the first time, Guillaume is utterly speechless... the chaos before him tells a story - exactly what, the inquisitor truly doesn't know yet... although he had a feeling that there are going to be at least two sides to it.

...deciding that it may be better not to say anything yet, Guillaume waits until 'Master Cadmion' arrives.

Guillaume thanks Zeeva Foxglove for the explanation of the reading even though inside he is bristling at the mention of spies... far too many of his compatriots had been accused of espionage and spying in his military training in Galt - and, of those, many had not returned from the inevitable interrogations...

"I thank you Miss Foxglove... there is one more thing, our companion suggested that we are to rendezvous at the Frisky Unicorn - is there anything we should know about the establishment?"

Guillaume makes a mental note to ask Eamon what it is, about either the cards or 'the Unicorn', that is bothering him, but for now he remains impassive and pretends not to have noticed... as the talk turns towards plans to make contact with the local Pathfinder Lodge, he nods sagely...

A good idea.. let us get our bearings before we race wildly after this 'something' - whatever it is... and whatever it means...

Guillaume truly has little knowledge of the Harrow, certainly he has heard tales of Varisian travelling caravans and of the folk that ply their fortune-telling skills as they move between the cities but he has never before seen the cards that are used. Taking the cards from Eamon and then passing them on, Guillaume comments on the artistry much as Karayan does...

Guillaume has Knowledge (Religion) as a trained skill but I'm thinking that he has never encountered the Harrow before today... so I'm not rolling a skill check here.

Interested that one of the cards has resonated a little with Eamon, Guillaume watches to see if he will tell more...

Guillaume is quiet throughout the introductions, wincing inside as Eamon lets slip his quite obvious opinion about those who would call themselves tellers of fortune, and only speaks to confirm his name and that he is, of course, enchanted to make Zeeva Foxglove's acquaintance. Already though, he has misgivings about the whole venture... a harrower predicting disaster? Not once but thrice? ...and, on what must surely be naught more than 'a feeling' the Society has committed a good handful of folk to investigate... still, here they were and they had their instructions, "Madam, it would be our honour to assist you in this matter"

Guillaume knew little of Korvosa, he had thought to familiarise himself with Varisian life in Magnimar... but that wasn't to be his destiny. Instead, he was here - where the mood of the people seemed dank and any polite smile from the inquisitor was received with a scowl - at best. Still, at least the atmosphere hadn't dampened Dalen's demeanour...

A frantic rush around the stalls of the Bazaar of Sails finally turns up everything that Guillaume thinks he will need (Added an Adventurer's Gear - Inquisitor's Kit to my inventory) and he barely makes the agreed meeting point in time... smoothing himself down, and looking to avoid any question about sea legs, he falls in with the rest of his companions as they are introduced to Fessender. Ensuring that etiquette is observed, he thanks the Captain for the welcome and finds a hammock near Eamon... he barely contains a wry smile as he watches Karayan wrestle with his bedding before asking, to no-one in particular, how long the journey is likely to take.

Guillaume, far from a green traveller having journeyed from far-off Galt, can't help but grimace - despite himself - at the thought of turning back on himself and heading Eastwards aboard the Wanton Ways. But the moment passes, this is it... the moment that he had hoped for since the futile quarrels of his homeland had sent him away seeking a better purpose - this is the moment that being a Pathfinder really meant something.

I think I might need a quick bit of housekeeping to put a few sundries into Guillaume's backpack (not that he has one yet!!!) but generally I think he is good to go... also, nice to see some familiar names at Heidmarch Manor :)

More hungry than he had thought himself, Guillaume lets the conversation wash past him for a few minutes saying little more than he does indeed hail from Galt and that he, as some of the others here are, is a long way from home... and despite himself, he blushes several times when the talk moves towards him. The discord that had threatened to bubble to the surface here cuts a jangling resonance with Guillaume - whether he had caught the source correctly or not, there was a sense of the friction between noble-born and commonfolk here... the same discord that had run so violently through his home country and set him fighting against people that he would call brother... The Iomedean puts his discomfort to one side though.

We are a long way from Galt now...
