Grumblejack waits till Tiadora is gone, then bends down low to Charmaine as they are led off. He whispers in her ear, "Grumblejack no like her. One day, Grumblejack will eat Tiadora." He nods and stands up determinedly, but you can see he still watches the hallway as if she might come back. You are all lead to separate rooms. Each room is spacious and comfortable. The servants are silent and efficient. There are fresh clothes perfectly sized for each of you laying on a large bed. There is wash basin with hot water on a stand, and a servant stands ready and waiting to assist you in your endeavors. Sense Motive DC 15: The servants are addled and enchanted. So much so that they seem to have lost any of their own will.
Silarsha comes in and strikes a solid blow against the guard that makes him stumble. At the same time, Wocket launches her electricity at the dog, but it goes wild, leaving a smoking crater on the side of the bridge. Grumblejack moves into the light and charges at the guard. He swings his fist hard, into the guard and through, knocking the man immediately to the ground, where he does not get up. "Let doggie go," Grumblejack says as he lays the guard out. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
The dog lunges forward, no freed from the restraint the guard had held on him and lunges at Grumblejack, but the small dog seems to not be able to break Grumblejack's tough skin. Grumblejack looks down, a strange look of kindness on his face toward the dog. "Go now doggie." Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Wocket-> Heverly and Talia, take surprise round actions, everyone else, round 1.
Grumblejack looks, stunned at Charmaine's yell, then reaches down and grabs hold of the beam, helping Silarsha lift. Between the two of them, the beam lifts out of place, and drops to the ground, leaving the doors ready to be opened. Meanwhile, Heverly successfully pulls the ladder out of the hole above, leaving their escape clear. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Grumblejack charges through the room yelling as he does so. He crashes into the ladder and the ladder cracks loudly as he does, the echo reverting for a few moments after, but bounces out of the way before he can finish the job. In the end it lays askew in the hole in the cieling and badly damaged, but not broken. 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 192d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 3) + 3 = 11
The light is about 20 ft up. Grumblejack rumbles quietly, "Grumblejack can make it." He narrows his eyes, looking determined. Yes, a single double move would easily clear the distance. As for pattern, not exactly. It's obvious they know someone's probably going to come, and they're trying to catch it, but it's regular enough that you should be able to get across because they're trying to be thorough as well.
I'll go ahead and throw Grumblejacks action up there so there's no worry about fitting through the door. You'll have to squeeze past him, but he is a willing ally, so it's not a huge problem. :) Grumblejack bellows as he pushes through the door, the frame cracking a little as he does. He knocks the table over in his haste to begin pummeling one of the guards. But his haste also keeps his hands from connecting as he tries to smash the man. Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Initiative Order: Wocket->
Okay then, post preparations and set yourself up on the map and I'll start combat after everyone's posted or 24 hours from now. Whichever comes first. Grumblejack smile grows wide enough to encompass a head and he nods readily. "Good. Grumblejack hungry." His stomach rumbles to echo his words. He stands at the end of the aisle ready to charge in at the guards.
Grumblejack looks around watching the preparations with a some in his eyes. He says little and does not seem to show a preference for any of the plans except to be free. Whenever there is talk of freeing him his excitement grows. Finally when let free Grumblejack looks around at all the free prisoners. "You make Grumblejack happy. Grumblejack go eat lit'le 'uns now."
Grumblejack rumbles in amazement, "Grumblejack no eat you. Promise." He holds his hand up in a strange imitation of swearing an oath. "'Sides, there be lots of lit'le 'uns here I want to eat." he similes nastily from behind his bars, then turns to stare at the door. Grumblejack is in a different cell than yours, you'd have to unlock your cell then his, that might be harder to fake, though it's hard to say from here. Also the locks on the cells are different, no circumstance bonus for familiarity.
Talia:
Turned your roll into untrained Knowledge (Religion): 19 + 0 = 19
You recognize the symbol in the center as a symbol of Asmodeus, but there is little else that you can see that would give a hint to it's use. Grumblejack rumbles a laugh, "No one leaves cells, 'cept to die." He continues to laugh, he seems to think you've told some sort of joke. Religion or Arcana are the only two that will really yield any info. In this case, Religion could be untrained, Arcana can't.
In the Cell: The creature looks at Talia and Charmaine and his eyes narrow. "Don' know why they keep Grumblejack. Stupid. Should kill me. I'll get out an' kill the lit'le 'uns. Then I can eat them up," his eyes seem to burn and he gives a low, deadly chuckle. Then he looks back at the others, "Are you gooddies to eat too?"
In the Cell: The large creature perks up at this and looks around confused, finally he turns to you, and grunts, and with a deep gravelly voice rumbles quietly, or as quietly as he probably could, No lit'le 'uns got visit'rs 'fore. What's special 'bout you," he looks down at you all through the bars of his cell, eyes narrowed, and large teeth showing. |
