It wouldn't be right to tell you all about it, now. Would you have me betray a confidence? I won't. No more than I might. Still, less than I could. And someday, perhaps, you'll agree, I'd done good." "I'm just going to sit here, finish this drink, maybe get another, maybe leave then. And maybe soon you'll have more of the story. Agreeable? I can't really give you more than that."

The wheels in Megekki's head turn slowly... but surely. Considering the possible ruffian resource, he resolves to leave it untapped for now, in deference to the Mayor's wishes. It is not until Ameiko appears at the glassworks, upping the stakes, that he wonders if that deference will cost too much.

"I'd like to say that you've forgotten a glorious long summer, that I'd fought my way through storms and years and sorrows, to return to your presence, my heart only at last found in the light of your eyes, only at last thawing, in the warmth of your smile.", Greg flirts. "But I can't. No, I don't think you know me.", he smirks. "Yet. But I can promise you will. If you would." "But for now, my drink?"
GM-JCServant wrote: The mayor scoffs for a moment. Lanalee? She's a gossip at best. Until the situation below is resolved completely, I would rather noting was said. After all, we are just coming out of a vicious goblin attempt that somehow circumvented our walls and got past our watch. Once we have those issues addressed, we can talk more about demons and things that go bump in the night. Right now, the only reason people feel they have security is because they see you and your friends, especially with the Sheriff and Shelelu out. "This woman almost pursued us into the glassworks. I had to offer something. And now I have to deliver it. I'll try to be true to all of my duties. Thank you for your guidance. And your confidence. I hope the security you want them to feel is not a false one. I will work to make it so." 'Greg' visits Lanalee's tavern*, ordering from the bar, paying up front**, sitting in a corner, muttering to himself*** throughout. When he leaves, beneath his flagon is a gold coin, layered in wax from the table's candle, with a rough turtle shape scribed into the wax. * "I told a girl I'd meet her here.", he smiles at Lanalee.
"Madam Mayor?", Greg Rye asks, pursuing, mindful of the pair of watchmen. "A moment? I'll walk with you, partway, I'd not cause you delay..." 'Greg' tries to speak discretely to Her Honor, establishing by his knowledge of the contents, particulars, and details of the earlier letter, that he is the same man. And that point established, he asks what details she judges sharable, as honor demands his visit to Lanalee at Risa's, since he waved her off the glassworks with the promise of such a visit. "A man must obey his own words, if he is to trust his own voice.", Greg concludes. And hopes for the Mayor's guidance on what to share with the town. Leaving the Mayor, Greg visits the Sczarni, seeking to buy a Kapenia, and other worn bits of Varisi dress. In his not-new Varisi garb, Greg goes to Risa's, seeking Lanalee. |
