That said, reading through that adventure again brought some questions to mind: How exactly does a ship get stuck in it? You can't sail out of it, so how can you sail into it? I know that the Mother of All controls the sargasso, but the adventure states that only the central portions are actually alive, the part where the Sea Wyvern gets stuck (about a mile from the edge) are dead. Does the grass allow sailing into, but not out of? If so, how exactly does that work?

You have to remember we are talking about *sailing* ships here.

The ships propulsion is provided by the wind. So it is sailing with the wind at it's back (or close to) and gets itself far enough into the Saragasso, that the mass of the seawood stop the ship from moving forward. Uh Oh it's stuck, and you can't just stick a sailing vessel into reverse!

Just in case you're thinking of pushing/towing it out. Once the ship is actually stopped, the inertia caused by the mass of seawood is incredibly difficult to overcome from a standing start for a large boat! Not withstanding all the practical problems of rigging up a system to pull/push the ship.

I couldn't find any other threads on this..

My initial thoughts are to have Ekaym (sp) smuggle in a scroll of dispel magic. Which still calls into question who is going to cast it. So I'm considering making him a 1 level wizard or similiar so he can actually use the scroll for the group and save thier butts. All of this of course would come after they wrack thier brains for awhile and give up on it.

If you just want something to get the players out of the chest, it would probably be easier if you have bring a one-shot wondorous item that casts a dispel magic. You don't have to worry about who can cast it then.

On the other hand if you want a little bit of tension as they try and sneak a mage past the guards back to the chest, go that way.

The Fighter decided to push the paralyzed Rogue to one of the sides of the face around the mouth and huddle there till the winds died down eventually. I didnt expect some of them to head closer to the mouth as the winds kicked up.

Just had my first session on the weekend, and my PC's did the same thing, Bullrushed the paralysed one into the corner next to the mouth! Left me floundering for a moment about how to handle it :-).

The funny thing with my players was after finding the red lantern they lit them all, and had them all in place, but before thought to check out the mouth again, someone had the bright idea, that maybe we need to take them down into the Hall of the Architect and finding the statues with the hands outstretched needed to put the lanterns there instead! Except the yellow one, because they had gone down the yellow lift :-)

We had to leave the game there, I'll be interested to seewhat bright ideas come up next session!!

Don't miss Civil War 3 that came out yesterday. Let's just say it's a suprise ending regarding a MIA thunder god.

But then don't miss Civil War #4, where it is revealed that it actually isn't a certain MIA Thunder God, but a clone thereof. No I'm not kidding.

There is Suspension of Disbelief, and "Suspension of Disbelief" For me, Marvel is very much pushing it with the whole Civil War series.
