Glad I'm not the only one thinking this. I'm gonna be running RotR in a few months, and I'm already thinking similar changes. I'd keep Gogmurt the same though, IMHO. My Kingmaker party is literally at the Stag Lord's fort, and I think that Staggy may get a Slayer redo.

Taking one level of Crossblooded Sorcerer (Draconic, Orc) and grabbing the trait Havoc of the Society will net you a +3 on all damage types of your chosen (single) element. It makes a huge difference.

Rapiers are not light weapons, but you can use weapon finesse with it for attack. Shortswords are light weapons and give you less of a penalty than rapiers. It's the difference between -4/-4 and -2/-2.

Yep, I'll 3rd the suggestion to use the beginner box and then try out some society scenarios.

The basic rules aren't hard to get down, but there's a lot of finesse when it comes to breaking someone's arm or dropping out of a tree to gain a bonus to attack.

Have them pick their classes and read up a bit on the abilities so you know what they can do and can help them if they get confused or have questions.
