Is there perhaps a book on undead prestiges? Or smthng...

In which books can i find these?
I´d like to find a PC for my Unholy Warrior Death Knight...

I´ve gone through the Prestiges in Unholy Warrior´s HB, Libris Mortis, Book of Vile Darkness, haven´t found the right one yet.

Hell-O.
I´m back.

Ok guys´n´gals, it´s time for a new campaign.

My character is a Joviant, raised by his human father (so, of course his mother was the fire giant...)

Everything else is ready, but I´m drawing a blank on the name.

So, help me.... please. What the hell kind´a names do fire giants have?

Hell-O!

NWN was great, played ´em all through.

Hippy zombies... oh my!

It izziz my turn.

2023 (MMXXIII) will be a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar.

I predict the following:
* Slovenia will close down its only nuclear plant by this year.
* The last part of the Sherlock Holmes canon held under copyright anywhere (The United States) will, assuming no further changes to the copyright law, fall into the public domain.
* The Ohio Historical Society will be releasing the love letters between Carrie Phillips and President Warren G. Harding, 100 years after the death of President Harding.
* 3 March - TIME Magazine will most likely celebrate its 100th anniversary.
* 29 October - 100th anniversary of the establishment of Republic of Turkey.
* 31 December - just before this year ends, on 12:31 PM and 23 seconds will be 12:31:23 12/31/23, using American date formatting.
* The Compact of Free Association between the United States and the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands expires.

But, this is all speculation, what if...
As we all know, the world will end in the year 2012.

btw Go-lem, that is some mad-crazy AC, what level are you at again?

I was level 10 (r2/w7/cleric1) up until yesterday, but we took on a bigger bite of "this-is-fun...uups!" than we could chew. The wizard we faced (and we really wanted to) was apparently level 17 or higher according to the spells he used.

The confrontation was a tight one and one to remember... The DM later said we got him twice down to 1 and 3 hit points, so with a small amount of luck in damage rolls we would have won (I just love Orb of Force).

But in the end we lost and now I´m back to level 9.

Thank you apprenticewizz!
I´ll buy you a mead if ever we shall cross paths =)

Did I get this right?

My ranger-wizard has a) Dex 17(+3), b) Studded leather +4, c) Ring of Prot. +4, d) Bracers of Armor +2.

1. His AC is 24 = no bonus from Bracers? Flat footed 21, vs. touch 17, vs. incorporeals 13.

2. He casts Mage Armor: His AC remains 24. Flat footed 21, vs. touch 17, vs. incorporeals 17?

Joined Ed here a month ago ´n´ not bean kickked out yet.
Let´s selebreit this historycal ee-vent today-tonight-tommorrow ´n ´tonight with som mead.

Mmm-m beer.
An´ some good strong beer, not that budwater water. Yup.

As an aside,...I might play with a character who likes drow.

As a drow player, what encounter types did you consider a cakewalk, and what types gave you a run for your money?
Also, I'm interested in how daylight problems were handled.
Did you just take daylight adaptation, assuming you adventured outside the underdark?

Sure, here´s some backround on my character and the setting we game in.

The world is largely of DM´s own making with bits and pieces from other settings, but for reference consider Mystara/Hollow World. A world where Drow are an infamous race of legend, thought to be extinct for hundreds of years.
Social status is nobility (fallen), an outcast of sorts because there is no House left for him to return. My adventuring companion is his House´s former slave (a half-vampire) and we have been "on the road" for years before surfacing. We adventure in the world above, yes.

Str 16, Dex 17, Con 12, Int 19, Wis 15, Cha 5 (all thrown dice, no mods btw)... My drow is arrogant and self confident. He knows there is no one better than him, all other races are inferior. So, 98% of the time he does not even wear a hood to mask his dark elven features. He revels in people screaming and running away when confronted. He does not shy away from combat either be it spell battle or hand-to-hand, believing him to be the winner - come who may.
Quite the arrogant, sadistic bastard indeed.

Problems... well, we started at level 3 and still standing, so no major problems encountered yet =)
As stated before, Drow are a superior race!

I have the Daylight Adaption feat, and from 2 levels of ranger Combat Style: Two Weapon Fighting and Favored Enemy human.
Also Arcane Warrior and Improved AW are quite useful. It makes a nice twist in the game to have an arcane spell failure of 15%. One can´t really rely on spells to "do the trick".

From one encounter way back he managed to aquire himself a bodyguard - a shield guardian. Needless to say, his confidence/arrogance in h-t-h combat has increased since...

In Complete Guide to Drow it is stated, that we have spell resistance of 11 + class level. I have made my character based on this book.

In Plot & Poison: Guidebook to Drow it reads 11 + character level.

In PHB it doesn´t really say anything and if I´m correct DMG doesn´t clarify a creatures spell resistance total either.

My drow is multiclassed ranger 2 / wizard 7 / cleric 1.
Yesterday we came to changing blows with the DM. I think my spell resistance is 21 and the DM thought it is only 18 (=11 + highest class level).
The latter interpretation seems idiotic for a multiclass character, does it not?
Spell resistance is a racial trait, it should not be any different for the 10th or any level character if he is multiclassed or nor. Right?

In Encyclopaedia Arcane Necromancy (p.40) is the Death Touch feat, but it´s description is a bit confusing.

It´s listed under Feats; "By making a succesful melee touch attack..." but the description ends with "both the use of this spell and the touch attack are considered a single standard action".

Where is the spell Death Touch, I haven´t found it. If there is one, that would explain the above. One could either use the feat or the spell. If there is no spell, then please someone explain the description.

I´m level 10 now, so using this feat kills quite easily already (damage d6/caster level, if greater than current hit points of victim it dies immediately) and there are no restrictions in using this feat.

Uups, just realized my given mis-information. My bad. Sorry.

The metamagic feats can´t be used to alter a spell being cast from a scroll, wand or other device.

If your cleric casts mass inflict wounds as a spell and had this feat, then he would be able to target just his zombies and stay invisible.

Apologia.

Saern is right that mass inflict wounds spells are targeted spells, so the cleric CAN'T "accidentally" target his enemies. But even if he COULD, it wouldn't matter:

"PHB, page 245 wrote:
For purposes of this spell, an attack includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe.
It doesn't matter whether you INTEND to catch a foe in your fireball or not. If there's one in there, you lose your invisibility.

How about if the cleric has the metamagic feat Area Control (found in Ultimate feats)?

Area Control lets you select certain spaces under the area and declare that they are not to be affected.

With this feat a wizard can slam a fireball dead center to a melee and declare all his/hers allies not to be affected.

Okey my young druid friend, you clearly asked for this one...

So, what do you do when your monkey goes ape on you? Does something you have forbidden it to do?
What is your method of punishment for it?

Do you perhaps just spank it?

And hey, be honest everyone. Didn´t you all see this coming? Right.

a) A bard might sing a lullaby to fascinate the orc while his/her adventuring-buddy the (halfling) rogue sneaks and steals the pie.

b) One (a rogue?) could use rope to lassoe the orc. The halfling steals the pie.

c) The strongest party member could use a 10-ft ladder to pin the orc to the wall (and the halfling steals the pie)

Basically just get a halfling in the party, for sure he´ll get the pie somehow...

Advice required from you knowledgeable lot!

I have a fighter lvl 1 who has light armour and Two Weapon Fighting. If I have a long sword in one hand can I use my fist as my second attack. Will it provide an AoO and is it treated as a Natural Weapon so giving full STR bonus instead of half?

Answers to these would be great and anything else related would be excellent!

Attacks of Opportunity: Attacking unarmed provokes an attack of opportunity from the character you attack, provided she is armed. The attack of opportunity comes before your attack. An unarmed attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity from other foes, as shooting a bow does, nor does it provoke an attack of opportunity from an unarmed foe. You provoke the attack of opportunity because you have to bring your body close to your opponent.

“Armed” Unarmed Attacks: Sometimes a character or creature attacks unarmed but still counts as armed. A monk, a character with the Improved Unarmed Strike feat (page 83), a spellcaster delivering a touch attack spell, and a creature with claws, fangs, and similar natural physical weapons all count as armed. Note that being armed counts for both offense and defense. Not only does a monk not provoke an attack of opportunity when attacking an armed foe, but you provoke an attack of opportunity from a monk if you make an unarmed attack against her.

Unarmed Strike Damage: An unarmed strike from a Medium- size character deals 1d3 points of damage (with your Strength modifier, as normal). A Small character’s unarmed strike deals 1d2 points of damage. All damage is subdual damage. Unarmed strikes count as light weapons (for purposes of two-weapon attack penalties and so on).

Dealing Normal Damage: You can specify that your unarmed strike will deal normal damage before you make your attack roll, but you suffer a –4 penalty on your attack roll because you have to strike a particularly vulnerable spot to deal normal damage.

What Mini's are people using for their characters?

I use mostly metal figs from Warhammer, Confrontation, and Warmachine. I get some at our store to paint them. WotC are good for cheap monsters.

I have somewhere between 3000-3500 minis of which 95% are from GW (I also game Warhammer (with 6 2500+ point armies), WH40K (with 2 3000+ point armies), Bloodbowl (with 4 teams) etc...). The remaining 5% are from Ral Partha and other mini makers...

About 70% of the minis are painted, all by myself of course. I´m a modelmaker for 25 years now, starting with Tamiya, Ertl etc. plastic kits.

All my D&D characters including my current Drow Necromancer (Citadel?) have been found among my minis, except for one.
I once played a Gnome Druid and I made the mini myself by using the body of a Bloodbowl Goblin to which I made the head, arms and wargear from green stuff and got it just right.

I hold nothing against it so long as they are faithful, and as such remember to roleplay it properly. Speaking of which, you must not know alot about drow to think that 99% of males are without faith. In fact, males believe very much so in Lolth, if only out of fear and/or hatred. they are simply sacriligious.

...
I feel that changing into a priest is no big deal because back in those days there were only two kinds of people, people who believe gods are all powerful and those who feel gods are phony. Obviously one who feels gods are fake are not likely to be priest where as everyone else has at least some degree of piety. All that is required to be a priest is for one night of deep relaxion where you could get a vision, epifany, or like your case be severely traumatized where you ask for divine intervention and thus are pious to begin with. but it all depends on the DM. And to the Drow priest thing i remember being a drow priest myself, and a Chaotic good one at that, i cant remember the name of the diety at the moment,m the name escapes me, all i remember is she is good and behind her fathers back she feels like she needs to offer an escape for those drow who wish to escape the "evil" lifestyle that is commonly associated with the race.

Of course faith is the key word in being a cleric or any other praying thingie.

I think praying/worship "out of fear and/or hatred of something" doesn´t really count as being "in faith". Male drow live in fear of female drow and so they do whatever it takes to make their lives a bit easier. Even worship deities.

The same goes for todays IRL priests; some do it for true belief, most for the money/fame/tradition "i´ve done/my father did this for the past 30 years, why change now?"...

Is it more difficult to take Cleric (or other class needing "true faith") as a second or subsequent class than others?

My TE level 9 ranger/necromancer had a "near death experience" (quite a rush for him, by the way) due to a few spectres draining him of 8 levels. The circumstances were such that (and knowing a thing or two about spectres) he found his only solution to be in praying for "divine intervention" for his salvation.
I personally did not think of any other way for him to make it through, even though (imo 99%) male drow are not sincerely enough religious. Never ever.

My GM thought this through and came to the conclusion that it was possible. Lucky for me, although the price was quite high... So, now I´m level 10 w/ cleric 1.

I quess my basic question is, is it just fine to take cleric as a second class, or does it require some more meaningful event in one´s life to be able to do so?
How do other GM´s rule?

There are some in Races Of Renown - Plot & Poison - Guidebook To The Drow

IMO it is stated quite clearly in the Prestige description; A blighter gains her spellcasting ability by stripping
the earth of life . A swath of deforested land always marks her path through the wilderness.
The blighter gains access to her daily spells through eforestation (see below) . If she goes more than 24 hours without deforesting a wooded area, she cannot cast spells until she does so .

I had a Blighter once. My DM ruled him to be - in a word - quite useless in regards of magic while in cities for a long time (although he had other "suitable" qualities for city adventure as in being a lycanthrope).
I liked it, because druids are out of their natural habitat if they are out of contact with nature.

I'm particularly interested in Diplomacy, which offers a +2 if you have 5 ranks in Bluff, Sense Motive or Knowledge (nobility and royalty). What if you have 5 ranks in all? I read it as a flat +2 but do people read it differently?

PHB3 page 62: In general, having 5 or more ranks in one skill gives you a +2 synergy bonus on skill checks with its synergistic skills, as noted in the skill description

Diplomacy: If you have 5 or more ranks in Bluff or Sense Motive, you get a +2 synergy bonus on Diplomacy checks. These bonuses stack.

Dread Necromancer seems ok, but for me it is out of the question.
Even if i were able to take it as prestige, it would be kinda hard to cast spells with my Cha 5...

Nice new feats´n´spells though, thanks 4 the info.

IMHO every player should buy and paint his/her own miniatures.
It´s also fair if they somehow contribute to adventures and other books needed, if you have a constant gaming group.

GM/DM should at least once a month buy pizzas :P

How interesting... JuJu Zombies understand all languages they knew, but are incapable of speech.
It seems they can write also.
