did you know that "stein", the German word for stone, is not used in German for a beer tankard.
the German name for a "stein" is Bierkrug, Bierseidl, Humpen or if it is 1 liter in size Maßkrug or Maß.
Only the material it is made of is called Steinzeug (not Steingut even though the English Wikipedia calls both materials stoneware, they are different materials in German)
