I was looking at the example for the new rules for bargaining in Ultimate Campaign. It says: "The merchant attempts a Bluff check opposed by Orshok's Sense Motive check and succeeds by 4, which makes her Undercut Percentage 6% (base 2% plus 4% for exceeding the check by 4). The merchant's Initial Offer is 12% less than Orshok's price (1,936 gp), and her Final Offer is 6% less than Orshok's price (2,068 gp)." But in the section: "Unfair(Sense Motive): If the result of the buyer's Appraise check leads her to believe the seller's Asking Price is too high, subtract 2 x the Undercut Percentage from the seller's Asking Price to get the Final Offer, and subtract 4 x the Undercut Percentage to get the Initial Offer." Firts, it should be Sense Motive instead of Apprise. But, most important, it says that in the particular case the Initial Offer should be 4xUndercut Percentage (6%)= 24% instead that only 12%. Which is the right rule?
Gharkka nods to Elendyr.
Then she points a finger towards an ally, where there is one villager sleeping on some crates, the other villagers don't seem to be near him. "We could take him in the house that the others are ispectioning and try to question him." then she is distracted by what is happening at Malaswyn. "But first, I should help Malaswyn inside there" She joins Malaswyn, entering the house.
There is plenty of work to do before resting, thinks Gharkka looking at Miriel. "Mordecai, will you help me collecting some wood? We need it for a campfire, and I want to prepare small stack all around the perimeter of the camp, in case we need to swiftly light up this place" Then she starts collecting wood, preparing said stacks, and looking for anything that could help in organizing the defense of the camp. If needed:
To Elendyr: She turned and smiled, you say? Then I fear that something terrible is happening back in the cabin. We should hurry. Then Gharkka starts running in the forest, anxious to reach the cabin. When she is received by Malaswyn, and learns about the sad end of Rana, her heart is filled with sorrow.
Then asks Elendyr to give the others a full report of what they discovered in the forest.
I'm going to take a look around the cabin, then. If we can avoid camping inside here, we will. Ghaarka gives another disgusted look at the rotten rests on the floor. Then, she leaves the cabin. Gharrka is looking for a place better to camp, not too far from the cabin. If nothing is found, she get the chance to collect some woods for a firecamp. Survival roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
"Thank you, Rana, I won't stress you anymore." Gharrka gently took Rana's hand in a sign of greetings, then she turned to Miriel. "Not much, it will be dark in one hour or two. I renew my advice to scout a little outside the village, maybe we could find some other clues of what is happening, before entering it. Or maybe find a better defendable place than this rotten cabin, if things will get too dangerous."
While the others kept going their questioning, Gharrka took a look at the drawing of the tatoo, brainstorming on the information Rana and Miriel gave about it. these are my Knowledge(religion) rolls for the tatoo and the little girl tatoo: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Gharrka nodded at Earnest, visibly worried from what she heard. Then she said "At first I thought that this would have been the deeds of some vicious creatures, orcs or gnolls, as often happens in mountain villages like this one. But after what we listened here..." She knelt down near Rana, looking at her wounds, badly infected. "These wounds need to be treated as soon as you can." said to Malaswyn. Then she joined Earnest in the survey of the cabin. "I doubt that Rana will be willing to go back to Scarlet Hope, after what has happened to her". Then, looking at the mud and rotting bones in the floor she said "Yet, we can't even leave her here. She needs a clean place where she could recover from her wounds" "Maybe we could scout a little around the village, while Malaswyn assists Rana, and Elendyr makes her some questions. We could find a better place to camp, maybe an abbandoned farm or a shepherd's hut. And maybe some clean dress to replace those rags" said looking at the cloth covered with mud and blood that Rana was wearing. |
