Background:

Not six years ago, there was a night of storms, the kind of which is rare and might - a storm of arcane energy had surged into being, above where one egg of a blue dragon named Yyralethsil had been stolen. This egg, however, was not truly of what it had seemed to be - for the egg that was taken, had been put in its place with a powerful illusion over it, and was put to mimic the egg that had been stolen by an arcanist. It was in that evening, that the egg hatched during the twilight hour, amongst the many bandits that had dared such a feat.
The creature was born as a small creature, appearing very little to what its father was - for the mere presence of the blue dragon had warped the energy around the egg. That pseudodragon had left its clutch, and wandered out in curiosity - taking nothing with it, and being frightened of the storm, hid in the nearby forest, in a tree. This led to him watching the small camp until it fell asleep, and did nothing else that evening.

That morning, the bandits were astounded and confused - they could find no trace of that small creature anywhere nearby! They looked around for over a mile, but found nothing within their time. Whilst they searched, however, that wyrmling moved into their camp, took some food, and ran off to begin its life, free of the clutches of humankind or its own kind, for that matter. In the year to come, he would grow only a small portion, feeding off of rabbits and other critters in that forest.

He became curious one night over the next year, for when he sneezed, he electrocuted a deer in the distance ahead of him. His eyes widened in the viciousness of the surge of electricity that was vomitted from his maw, confused. He inspected it, and came to a conclusion that perhaps he was a blue drake - yes, that was it! He had heard about a 'blue dragon's clutches' when he had escaped, and that memory stayed and refreshed itself; perhaps he was indeed something more powerful than his size meant!

As a result, he began to look deep into himself, deep within his blood, and actively pursued the art of arcana, becoming very apt and able at how effective he was, especially in the field of lightning-oriented spells. He found with enough practice, he was able to ambush adventurers in their sleep, taking what he could to increase his potency, and leaving food in return - never would he take something as daft as a weapon, he was a dragon after all - and usually acted as a hidden guide in that forest.

It wasn't until a few years later that he realized the depths of what he had been doing - he had realized that his potential had grown, and that he had to search for others to help in his growth. In this endeavor, he had come across a small patrol of folk, who were sleek, and slender, and whose ears stood up high in comparison to those he’d been pilfering from. This led him to his curiosity, and stumbled forth in their path, feigning innocence just once – but they saw through his trick! Nevertheless, they played along, for they traded riddles back and forth for many an hour, and was eventually invited back to their home – where they, as he had unknowingly given away, did practice magic arcane.

Over many years, he discovered many things involving the elves and their great Kingdom of which he had begun to take part in – having innate abilities involving evocation and electricity, he was educated further on how to progress his power. This had a price – he was to be an aide, in his words, to a great wizard named Arrondor. Being boastful, Arrondor had many plans, and was part of a great whole in this kingdom – eventually being voted into the High Council of Valandaer, which stayed over the youthful pseudodragon’s head. In this, he had status – but this was short-lived, in elven statistics.

At the time that demonic forces broke free, once held in captivity by the kingdom, Genesys continued his “mentor’s” work for the greater good of the council. He did what he could to remove the infestation from the town he had grown to know, and returned with less success than hoped for – and found nothing more than a body. With a great cry, the draconic male wretched what artefacts he could from the wizard’s body, and flew out the doorway, spreading forth great outbursts of thunderous destruction – aiming at the few demons that still ran amok. This lasted all of two hours, at which he collapsed in exhaustion. He was found in this state by another Council member, and quickly recovered.

Through much deliberation, the familiar-gone-free was unsure of where to go, and had only the old mage’s tower to go back to. It was here that he had chosen to leave the town, after gathering all he felt entitled to, and set about his first journey into the wilds. That was when he came face-to-face with the original brood of dragons he once was placed with.

Genesys was not one to back down from a challenge – he knew the weakness of a blue dragon, and its strength – and played hit-and-run through a forest’s trees, where it had no accurate line of effect unless it blew through a tree. He then took the fight to a different locale, into the plains – and set forth to entrap him where he had been lured. Through much magic and a lot of luck, the arcane dragonling proceeded to force it to surrender, and its tail trapped ‘tween its legs. He felt very accomplished at this feat, and proceeded to relax for many days after.

That was when he heard of the war to come. The war that would shake the corners of the world he lived in, and everything he knew. The war that would define everything, and take the history he knew and slam it against the rocks he lay atop of. The war that could take the concept of civilization and undo it.

Genesys could only form a scowl – and proceeded to set foot towards Valandaer again, four years after his vanishing. He was eighteen cycles – and showed more age than his size could garner. Along this journey, he met up with a travelling mate, one called Tik-Tik, and quickly formed a small alliance with him - and proceeded to merely follow in his steps, wherever they may go. Genesys, though, would influence the decision, suggesting always the route to war.
