I will post later today. Snow hitting here so will have some time later.

After he catches up with you for a couple of minutes, Armivor would like to meet with you this afternoon, do you have some time to meet with him?

Gelik jumps into the lead and brings you into the lodge. It is a modest wooden building that actually looks a lot like an Inn. The chamber you enter is a large open area, you see 4 people in it. They seem to be reading sitting around on chairs and couches.

Gelik blurts out, Kalir! It is me Gelik! We found it...the Nightvoice! It wasn't lost in Garund. It crashed on the Shiv, where we were shipwrecked...or should I say someone sunk our ship and put us there. It is such a wonderful tale.

Does anyone stop him of do you let him spin his tale?

Nim does not know what to make of the news that the RMD has been keeping company with the other castaways.

@ Gelik What has it been saying exactly? What has it told you about itself and the island? What has it asked of you in return?

Well, it says that the stone pillar or Tidal Stone as you all have called it gave birth to him a number of seasons ago. Well maybe gave birth is a stretch but I like the way it sounds! Anyways he says that he doesn't remember anything much before one night when he was standing beside it with thunder and lighting going off all around...he said it was like waking up for the first time.

He said he was much smaller back then and had a mate. He was scared at first, not sure what was happening. His mate turned on him and tried to kill him and he fled. He found that his new found thinking allowed him to hunt easier and eventually he overcame the fear and starting becoming bigger and stronger into what he is today.
The Cannibals had believed him to be some sort of great being or god as I described it to him.
The Cannibals disgusted him so he used them for entertainment, he found he grew bored easily...
He learned the hard way to stay away from the Wood Witch and the Harpy because of their magic. He says humans often came to the island on wrecked ships, mostly during bad storms but we are the first he has really gotten to know. Normally they would be consumed by one of those three groups and so he thought we were all like the Cannibals!

When you get back to the camp you see Gelik, he looks like he is about to explode with excitement...he rushes at you when you walk into the camp almost babbling...

It's the Red Mountain Devil, I mean Grolik! He came in with a big lizard as a peace offering. He said he wanted to learn our language and more about the outside world!
For the last couple of nights he has been sitting with us and talking with us about himself and the island and asking us a bunch of questions! It's very exciting.

Maybe if we appease it or give it something? We have to have something it wants right??? I mean other than our blood...

Maybe we should avoid her and just focus on getting more allies like the wood witch and the Chupa and then getting off the island?

Maybe it belongs to the same person that used the Jenivere's boat? Maybe we should try to track and capture one of the Cannibals that escaped so we can question him? You probably should have kept one of the others alive for questioning from the battle if you could. We could also ask what is down in that hole.
Well, maybe there is just one left since it seems that the twisted Dryad had the other for dinner.

The healing doesn't wake Aerys after the strike from the wand that almost killed her, but Mihai looks her over and her breathing is much better. He guesses that she will wake tomorrow morning...probably not feeling very well.

Gelik slowly gains consciousness though. What...what. Oh my...you are here...thank the gods! I thought I was going to be Cannibal chops. Those bastards jumped us and between the witch and her spells and the others they grabbed the two of us. I think the other's might have escaped. They sent a group of cannibals after them, but only one came back alive...I am guessing that they are still alive.
What are you going to do?
hearing your desire to g after them immediately, Are you sure that is wise? To split up again so weakened?

Of course you know that the little man is in a little bit of shock and probably still very afraid.

Gelik stands on the roof/walls and screams at the Cannibals, You sons of whores, wait until my friends here put their swords through your bellies! In fact not only are they great explorers, they are also great warriors! Prepare to meet your doom!

You feel oddly encouraged by the little man's words!

Inspire courage, +1 competance bonus to hit and damage, +1 morale on saves vs. fear and charm effects.

Gelik comes out of the trap door to respond to you,
I am sorry Master Aedalis, here are the magics that are available to me from my Gnomish background...dancing lights, ghost sound, prestidigitation, speak, with animals.
I also know the following magics—comprehend languages, cure light wounds, identify, detect magic, know direction, light, mage hand,
prestidigitation. I know no illusion magic...

He looks disappointed that he couldn't help you more.

An excellent idea Anton! I will protect Ishirou.

Gelik has a hard time looking anyone else in the eyes as he says this...

Why don't we hide in the hatch at the first sign of trouble and then you can leap out of the woods and kill them, that way we will be out of the way and you can focus on the "locals"?

Aerys and Sasha both give the little coward a look of disgust...

Ishirou is still sick and lays there groaning, he will not be of any help for the upcoming fight.

@ Anton
You must tell me about your latest adventure! I see you all came back in one piece, I can make a grand story out of it...

Jask also pipes up and urges Gelik to tell his stories...eventually he relents and tells a pretty stirring tale about a group of adventurers lost in a swamp. They fight Lizard folk, Otyugh's, and eventually a Black Dragon before winning their freedom.

It seems to be a breakthrough for the little man and for the first time since he was shipwrecked he smiles...genuinely.

Turning to Gelik, Nim calls out, How about you? What is it that we can do for you to ease your burden at being stranded here with us? Make it a practical request...

Find me a way off this deserted hell-hole before the flies eat me whole! he semi-jokingly says....

Gelik smiles, Now that was a story worth telling my bookish friend!

Nim:

I will try to do what I can...maybe some stories could help... he tells you...you can smell the fear on the little fop though. From his tattered cloths, this may be the first time he has ever been out in the jungle proper.
Go ahead and give me a diplomacy roll for your efforts though.

When he finds a moment during that day to speak to Gelik alone he'll say You are a brave gnome to say the things you have. Most of us here just swallow our fear and let it grow and fester inside. If that is allowed to happen, then our fears may indeed come true. I don't think you realize it, but most here actually look to you to speak for them, and it is up to you whether you speak words of hope or despair. For the sake of all of us, please consider that.

Bah, your friend is right, I am not a brave man. If I was in a city where I could use my skills I would not fear as much. If you leave on an exploration and never come back I will be the first person they get rid of. I can't hunt, or make things and they have no love for me.

Maybe you are right though...I will try to keep my doubts to myself.

Nim snaps at Gelik, The jungle is not going to kill us all! Cease all the sniveling and whining! Grow some backbone! It is that kind of behavior that is going to cause your fears to realize! If we work together, look out for one another, there is nothing on this island we cannot overcome! Nim meets the eyes of each of the other castaways as he speaks.

Returning his attention to Gelik, You fancy yourself a story teller... how about coming up with a story of the brave ship wrecked group that survives and thrives on the jungle island? I much prefer it to the alternative....

more later...

That's easy for you to say, you have skills in the outdoors, mine are in a tavern. You also have weapons all over you, what I am supposed to do, tell the monsters in these woods they are bad and to go away!

I know your type, let the defenseless fall while the strong thrive...not all of us are slayers of beasts!

He turns away from you an storms over to the other side of camp.

Gelik's lip trembles with fear...This jungle is going to kill all of us...how are we going to survive this!

And since they are all dead we should head back to the beach...it is our only chance.

You can hear the fear in Gelik's voice...

Okay I will go over to the new camp. Maybe a few stories will help lift our spirits.

Gelik spends the afternoon as you all work giving a pretty good accounting of himself with some stories about pirates...

So we are to wander into the jungle to fall prey to whatever beasts likely roam there? Its madness I tell you. Should we stay here and wait for a ship?

I am not hunter or mason...I feel so weak...
