Glad to hear it! I hope you did well on your finals! I was really hoping to finish this game. I started it with some friends over email and the first fight went on for over three months before everyone decided to give up.

Thanks for the response. I WAS able to find a game and currently I am at my commitment limit. I Do hope that you find players for your game though. It sounds fun.
Kras, what do you think of this? ------------------------------------------ Chaine was literaly born on the battlefield. It really isn't fair to call it a battle though when the defenders were outnumbered three to one. It was a massacre. The attackers didn't stop with the army either. As the defenders broke and ran, thier foes swept down on them and slaughtered all within reach. Then they rode through the supply train and through the camps, burning and pillaging. Not even the camp followers were spared thier wrath. It was here, behind the lines, that a cleric of Iomedae found Chaine. A naked, headless woman, presumably the mother, was curled around him protectively. Another woman lay dead nearby, wearing the robes of a healer. The babe couldn't have been more than a few hours old. Another soldier's bastard that would die before he had gotten much of a chance to live. The old cleric gathered up the child and brought him back to the monastary. Surely they could find someone to foster the child. When he arrived at the monastary, he found it to be in a state of turmoil. That very morning, someone had left another child at the doorstep! This one appeard to be a half Orc. The Brothers had made some inquiries around the nearby village, but no one knew who could have left him. However, one of the goodwives had recently had a still birth and was willing to be a wet nurse. When asked, she said she could care for two as well as one and so, Kras (for that was the name left with the half Orc) and Chaine (named by the cleric who had found him) were sent to live in the village, with the monastary providing a bit now and then to the family that was raising them. Chaine and Kras grew up as brothers. Sure, they may not look much alike, but they are brothers in all the ways that count. They played together, fought together, and made mischief together in the way of all small boys. Wherever one of them showed up, the other was bound to be close behind. It was during their eighth year that tragedy struck again. Disease ravaged the village and the goodwife and her husband were both struck with illness. Unable to care for the boys, they were returned to the monastary. The Brothers took them in and decided that they were old enough to begin training. They were taught to read and write and to revere Iomedae. They performed odd jobs around the monastary such as sweeping and running errands for the Brothers. Chaine was serious and studious while Kras was a bit more... erratic. Oh, he was never really bad, he just liked to do things his own way and was constantly questioning the Brothers about why things had to be the way they were. Occasionally, a paladin or travelling cleric would drop by the monastary to deliver messages or to take a rest during a journey. It was at these times that the boys really came alive. They both were keenly interested in the traveller's tales and especially about fighting. They had both grown into big, strong lads with Kras towering over even the tallest of the Brothers. Sometimes, paladins and the more martially inclined clerics would take them out behind the monastary and teach them a bit of weapons work before they had to move on. Then the day came when the Abbot called them in. He told them that they were now 16 years old and had completed thier training. They were to be made full clerics. As thier first duty, they were to travel to Sandpoint and arrive in time for the Swallowtail Festival on the first day of Autumn. It was during the Festival that a new temple was being dedicated. He would like them to deliver a gift for the new temple as a sign of goodwill.

Well, Chaine is an orphan and was raised by the church. Perhaps they studied together? Chaine is also more drawn to the martial aspects of Iomedae and will probably be multi-classing Paladin soon, so don't feel that your niche as cleric is threatened. Hmmm, I can see the two of them in the monastary with Kras coming up with all kinds of schemes that could get them in trouble and Chaine trying to talk him out of them.

Ok, I am working on a Cleric of Iomedae. Will post soon. BTW, I have never played by post. I have limited access to the internet from work (where I will be doing most of my posting). Is there a specific roller of character sheet you want us to use? if so, I may have to post it from home.

I have a job that prevents me from gaming with my friends, but would really like to get back into RPing. I have 25+ years of experience although more of it is behind the DM screen than in front of it. I can play any class that is needed.

I think you'll find that Dodge, Insight and Luck bonuses stack with themselves, unlike other bonuses.
I am currently playing in a munchkin-esque 3.5 game (we all like a change occasionally) where I am playing a Cleric archer. One of my 1st purchases when I could afford it was an animated spiked shield. Not only does it allow me to use my bow without losing the AC bonus, but the spikes present an extra place to hang the Warning enhancement(+5 insight bonus to init). Couple that with the spikes on my full plate and my gauntlets and I get a +15 to init on top of the AC bonus. Is it broken? I don't think so. Despite the amount of cheese you can get out of it in 3.5, I don't think it is broken in Pathfinder. Being a +2 bonus and having to already have a +1 on the shield to begin with, you are looking at a fairly hefty pricetag already for a simple +3 to AC. Also, the armor enhancements that make it broken in 3.5 do not exist in Pathfinder. Finally, if you are the GM and think that it is broken, simply limit or restrict access to it. When I GM, I don't believe in Magic shops that stock every item available in the book. In fact, when my players want to buy an item other than a few potions or scrolls, they have to locate someone who can actually craft the item, has the requisite spells, is willing to do the work an then they have to wait the time it takes to craft it (or do it themselves). If I want the item to be particularly hard to obtain, then often the crafter will not have all of the materials he needs and send the PCs to obtain them (for a suitable discount on the final price). If the PCs manage to run through the whole gauntlet and still want the item, then I have gotten good milage out of the quest for it and I let them have it. As GM, you have the ultimate control over your game. If you hand out treasure like candy and allow unfettered access to anything the players want, you deserve what they do to your game.

I don't see why it shouldn't work with a mithril breastplate. The swashbuckling era in our own history was full of fighters that used a rapier and a breastplate. |
