I've been a goblin in a campaign. No, it was not a disruptive character. Garri was a goblin cleric of Sarenrae. He loved fire, and wanted more than anything else to be good. He was built to use the fire domain, and to fight with Dervish Dance. He became good when his tribe abandoned him, and a priest of Sarenrae took him in. Her focus on redemption and fire just made the whole character come together.

Guys, I need to cut back a bit on my non-PFS games, and because this game is so slow, it's the one I need to cut. My deepest apologies, and my best wishes for fun for all of you. I will leave Garri's profile alone for a few weeks if you need to bot him for a while or need to reclaim some party gear to keep everyone safe.

"And the Lady of Light came out of her he-v-EEn-lie dwelling..." Garri tries to read his copy of the Lady's text, with Renliat's help.

Yay!

Great Rysky, someone has told me that you might know my big furry fox friend, Sarada. Could you please tell him that I miss him?

When we are done talking, Garri goes to find Halrex to discuss any healing that the crew needs. He also doesn't mind running a few messages and carrying a few light items, but doesn't have the strength to do most physical labor on the ship.

If Garri has any leisure time on the ship, after spending time in prayer and meditation, he tries to continue his reading lessons with Renliat.

This goblic cleric of Sarenrae has a code of conduct, of sorts. He calls it his Promise to the Lady. It makes sense for him, because he really wants to be good, but sometimes struggles with what that means, so a promise is a good way for him to know what he should do.

Garri's promise to be good (made to The Lady, his name for Sarenrae):
Garri will not eat creatures that can talk.
Garri will not play jokes that could hurt someone.
Garri will be careful what he lights on fire.
Garri will try not to take other peoples' things.

Garri stops and thinks for a moment. He's not sure if he is being good or not for not mentioning that he can use fire spells too. A part of him is very glad that Bloodtusk either didn't notice or doesn't know that Garri serves the goddess of fire.

Garri serves the Lady, and heals. Who heals this ship's crew, so Garri knows who to offer to help?

One more gentle poke about the chronicle...

Any progress on chronicles for book 1?

Garri bows in greeting to the half orcs, but remains quiet for right now. He is very aware that orcs also consider his kind to be vermin.

Is Garri's big friend in the sky OK?

Here's how strongly I (the GM) feel about redeemable goblins. This is probably my favorite character I've ever made. In particular, take a look at Garri's promise to the Lady.

Where are Garri's friends? Garri is sad that his friends are missing.

Do we have chronicles? I think I PMed you my email address.

Just before the party left, Garri handed Lialda a partial healing wand (19 charges). I just want to spread the healing around for emergencies, I think she can use it. He also asks if someone can carry a bit of his gear. Bedroll and spare sling bullets, less than 5 lb, but would cause encumbrance.

Garri uses his new wand of bless to request the Lady's aid.

bless description:
Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects. Bless counters and dispels bane.

rules question: Garri's AC improves temporarily if he 'casts a beneficial spell on an ally.' Does using a wand count for this? It seems not by strict reading of the rules, but yes by intention of rules.

Sorry, will try to post later. Was in ER in the middle of the night for a sick child last night.

If we buy everything requested above, we have:
Kreagor armor upgrade 1000 gp
Garri armor upgrade 1000 gp
wand of CLW 750 gp
wand of Lesser restoration(10 charges) 900 gp
wand of CMW with 10 charges 900 gp
wand of bless, 10 charges 75 gp
scimitar upgrade 302.5 gp
scrolls: 1 remove fear, 2 delay poison crafted fro 162.5 GP

That totals 5090 GP.
Everyone else is being very quiet about this, so I'm just going to put all that healing gear on Garri's character sheet, and I would suggest that Kreagor just go ahead and upgrade his armor.

I know Lialda was going to craft some potions, and Renliat probably wants some scrolls or a partial wand of an attack spell, but I don't know of what, so that's not included in the above figures. There is still plenty of money left for those, though.

Garri seeks out the pretty priestess to ask her for a blessing soon before setting out again.

Does anyone else have a sudden fear that the 'personal delivery' actually says "Please kill the bearer of this letter for me"?

Do you want any gear, Sarada? I know you don't use much, but perhaps a masterwork weapon or amulet of natural armor?

Specific cost suggestions:
wand of bless, 10 charges, 75 gp (lasts one minute on whole party)
scimitar upgrade (302.5 gp)
scrolls: 1 remove fear, 2 delay poison (325 GP; half if Renliat can scribe with Garri to provide spell)
healing and lesser restoration as described in Kreagor's post

Garri will also spend some loose change he has to buy a cheap holy text, if Renliat is helping him learn to read during the time between adventures.

If I upgrade Garri's armor, I'm not sure what to get. He has a masterwork chain shirt, with a max dex of +4 and AC bonus of +4. His dex after the level up is already +4. Considering his attack and AC both feed off of dex, he will be wanting a dex belt as soon as feasible (not now, but maybe next time we level up, or the next after that, considering it costs 4000 GP). I don't want to keep buying armor just to keep selling it as his dex outgrows it.

Garri would like to sell his current scimitar and get a masterwork one (315 gp to buy, 12.5 back for selling current non-masterwork)

I also would like to pick up a few useful scrolls for Garri so that I can take less useful but more fun spells.
level 1: remove fear
level 2: lesser restoration, delay poison
(I don't know if just one makes sense, or if we want an extra)

An idea, I don't know if it's a good idea: a partial wand of bless. Garri can use it to boost Kreagor and Sarada with one action. Against tougher enemies, that may be more helpful than one Garri attack.

Are there one or two bad status removal scrolls we want? Garri can always rest and memorize the low level stuff, but some bad things there isn't time to wait for that.

so another 3875 (list price, so can sell for half of that) plus formula book.

alchemists and investigators can read formulas from each others' books, if that helps clarify.

I thought formula books were treated like scrolls in terms of selling. I know I've read that somewhere in terms of authors planning the wealth they make available in published adventures.

Garri is not going to keep the heavyload belt. It's just too expensive (2000 gp) for what it does.

Yeah, looks like it's going to end up a bit over 1000 gp each.

I'm fine with your suggestions.

Garri slips back into goblin grammar a bit.
"If Garri's friends know what monsters might be near, Garri's friends can prepare better. Can great town leaders and druid tell Garri's friends what will be at the marsh?"

I've done most of the work for Garri's level up. I'm waiting to buy gear before I transfer the changes over to the forum.

I also still need to know about learning to read.

I'm done putting all the gear into your list, Kreagor. You clearly have the spreadsheet set up to calculate things in a specific way; do you want to finish the number crunching?

Garri is illiterate because he's a goblin. Would it be OK for me to put a background skills rank into linguistics as the cost of learning to read?

OK, I understand where you guys are coming from. I'm a bit concerned if we need to heal faster, but Garri does have the ability to spontaneously cast heal spells.

Do you mind if I just update your sheet, Kreagor?

If no one objects, I will go through the gameplay thread and list all the loot we've found, and also who claimed it (or if we gave it away). Then I'll post the list so people can claim anything else they want. Then I will tally the value of everything we are selling and the value of what everyone kept, and let people know how much extra money they have. (I assume we sell for half?)

Is everyone willing to chip in from their share for a full wand of cure moderate wounds? It's a significant expense for level 4, but split among all of us, it's not too bad.

Also, will you be issuing chronicle sheets for PFS?

Do we have the chance to sell the loot that no one wants and buy good stuff during the level up? Garri already found the best armor for him until he can afford +1 armor, but I'd like to upgrade his scimitar to masterwork and maybe get a few wands or scrolls.

Garri looks around at the faces of his companions. As long as he sees no objections there, he stands and speaks. He's using his best human speech, trying to leave out his goblin mannerisms.

"I can't answer for my friends, but I can tell you that this seems a thing that anyone who seeks to do good would accept. I will go, and I hope my friends go, too. May the Lady be pleased."

After things calm down a little, Garri goes to find the Pretty Priestess to make sure she is OK. He heads first to the temple of Iomedea, since that is where he saw her last. If he doesn't see her, he asks anyone he finds there.

If she is there but looks busy, he just talks to her for a moment to make sure she is OK. If she doesn't look very busy or seems happy to talk for a bit, he talks through his guilt at needing to help kill creatures.

Is Garri able to find the Pretty Priestess to check on her?

The only thing Garri can really use from the loot is the belt. Unfortunately, a dex/scimitar build is really picky about the gear it can use.

Garri nods at Kreagor's suggestion. "Garri wants to check on the pretty priestess and make sure she is OK."

Garri is untrained in any of those, so only can try for the DC 10 local check.

1d20 ⇒ 8

Garri sees if his friends need any other care. Then he uses his magical skills to see if he can identify the puzzling magic items. He prays for the Lady's help before each check (i.e. casting guidance).

spellcraft check, half-plate: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 = 16
spellcraft check, hammer: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 1 = 28
spellcraft check, hair: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9

I'm in several games right now, and GMed the quests in person already. The game itself is fun, although I feel wacky and out of control playing it because I don't feel like I really know the rules yet. Starship combat on PBP seems painfully slow. Maybe that's just because it's so different and people are still learning how it works. The big thing is that the phases mean there's a lot of waiting time.

If you have a level 1 character, you can take the chronicle and hold on to it. You then apply it as soon as the character reaches level 2.

It's called campaign mode. For APs and some of the longer modules, if a group is doing the entire things, they can do it with house rules instead of PFS rules and still get credit to apply to a PFS character of their choice. 'PFS campaign mode' is the phrase to google for.

Here's the chronicle info:
Player name:Redelia
character name is not yet decided
PFS# 184425-07

(If this chronicle is a 2-4, I will hold the chronicle until the character reaches that level)
