Half-Orc Ranger (Spell-less) 1

Hi all.

I'm finally back connected after having to move unexpectedly.

I'm catching up on the thread and ready to get back to it if you still will have me. :)

Garovic nodded. He'd preferred letting other speak so he could evaluate the people around him, but he was beginning to feel that this was truly a group that would work well together.

"We do. But thanks to you, we know to expect trouble. We will be more prepared."

Garovic nodded in agreement and proceeded to load his crossbow. Holding the crossbow at the ready, he crouched down to check for any tracks in the dirt and grass.

Checking for recent/old tracks: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Garovic nodded. "I'm ready as well. Although I wish you'd been a bit subtler about the whole thing. With the attitude towards the gentleman, I'm sure someone is going to be a bit too curious and try to find out what we're doing. We need to keep our eyes out, moreso than normal."

He looked at the newcomer with a bit of doubt. He was willing to give everyone an opportunity, but he'd be keeping an eye on this robed figure too.

Garovic watched from his table as Touchstone spoke with the strange gentleman. He sipped on his ale as a small smile crept on his lips *Looks to be getting interesting. Perhaps it's not quite time to leave.*

He rose and stepped over to the table with the others, his drink in hand. For such a tall, large build of an individual, his voice was rather softspoken. "You have the look of ones about to do mischief or heroics. I would join you.".

Garovic sat quietly at his table as he stared into his mug, lost deep in thought. He had never wanted to be known as a warrior but the situation just past had forced that. He'd been surprised when his father had taken him to a shed and unveiled a chest. He'd said that the items in the chest had been his in his youth, but that. Ow they were Garovic's should be need them. As soon as he'd heard that the goblins were on the way to attack, he'd gone to the chest and put on the armor and weapons there.

He took a sip of his drink and just looked around the room. The items from his father had held up well, but now he wondered what others were thinking. Even though his orcish heritage didn't really show much any more, there were still plenty around that had seen him grow up with a much more orcish look and some of those still considered him nothing more than a beast to be pushed down.

*maybe it's time to just move on. I know father doesn't want me to leave, but I think it's time...*

Ready whenever the thread is :)

Half-Orc Ranger (Spell-less) 1

Soval hesitated at the drawing of a card, but finally reached for one.

1d54 ⇒ 47

Apologies - I'm running a bit slow right now as just got to family's home for Christmas vacation. Things are going to be a bit hectic the next week or so, but I'll be posting here and there.

Lomar: I thought I had posted that Soval was there ahead of time, but seems it never posted. :(

Half-Orc Ranger (Spell-less) 1

Checking in :)

Soval has been on a journey of discovery for a couple of weeks. He's left the comfort of the library in his village and is in search of knowledge, skills and conversation. I haven't come up with any connections to anyone yet, any suggestions? :)

I could see journeying a bit with Nadiya, but unless someone may have visited the library (although it it a considerable library of arcane and world knowledge so it's possible) not sure how they may connect for Soval.

Walthus, i agree all around. Play what you'll enjoy. I was considering taking a level or two of rogue along th way, so may be covered for the Trapfinding before long :)

I still have to get weapons and equipment, but I think Soval's stats are ready in his profile..

I believe all questions should be answered through the profile, except for the last.

You ask me if I subscribe to the superstitious paradigms that the people of Ustalev do? I must say that I do not. However, I do recognize that that disagreeing with their beliefs does not mean that their beliefs are any less valid. In my studies, as well as with the conversations I've had with Professor Lorrimor, I've realized that the beliefs of people are rooted deeply in one's sense of who they are and what shapes their lives. Without beliefs, whether we as individuals may consider them well-founded or ill-founded, there is no reason to continue doing out daily tasks and moving forward in life.

What do I believe in? That is easy, knowledge. I dabble in the knowledge of all fields really as I seek to grow and understand the world and cultures that exist here. I seek knowledge of the past so that any mistakes as well as greatness may be shared in order to gain advantage and affect the present for the better. I also seek knowledge of the future, not direct divination mind you, but a mathematical calculation of what is most likely to happen given certain circumstances.

Some people might call me a bit too scholarly, and ask what I am doing out of the library, but that is a discussion for another matter. Let us say that is is a matter of family that I journey forth. And I consider the Professor part of my family so that is why I seek to pay my respects.
