Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Well damn.
This is not exactly how you planned, right?

Stabilization checks..!
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Calanthe watches in horror as Garhan is getting seriously chewed by that horrible ugly monster.
Well damn.
This angers the goat greatly.
Calanthe runs to the available square behind the tick and proceeds to attack!

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Garhan is so concentrated on this tick thing that he doesn't even realise his uncharacteristically brave goat has made it across the bridge.
Garhan tries another stab at this stabbing!

Attacking the tick..!
1d20 + 0 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 0 + 1 - 2 = 4
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Calanthe is more than happy about getting across, finally!
Though it seems she can't really get close to the enemies now... Well damn.
Also, she's surprised there were still so many enemies.

Seeing the mite leader's brains splurt out of its head temporarily brings a smile to Garhan's face.
Under normal circumstances Garhan wouldn't really be happy about anyone dying so horribly, but this mite's pet just almost ate Woden!
Speaking of Woden, Garhan steps closer to the tick, between the monster and Woden. Garhan doesn't know of Woden's unfortunate condition yet... But it's never a bad idea to stand between a friend and a monster, right? So he takes a five-foot step into dead Woden's square, and attack the tick!

Attack!
1d20 + 0 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 0 + 1 - 2 = 13
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Meanwhile, Calanthe shakes her head after the impact.
Damn these goat eyes are a bother sometimes!
Not losing her newly gained battle spirit, Calanthe tries to climb up to the other side of the bridge, to assist her - or rather, Garhan's - teammates in trouble!

Climb check!
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Also if she can still run into a good square after getting up, perhaps the same one as the dog? She'll try to gore the tick.

Garhan watches in terror as Woden is what seems to be being eaten by the huge insect monster.
"No..."
Garhan whispers weakly.
The tiefling fights back the tears and feels arcane power course through his veins.
A large dog summoned from another plane of existance appears before Garhan, and the witch givers his command.
"Attack that tick!"

Meanwhile, still in the first room, Calanthe has been watching these humanoids fall one after another.
She's been fighting her instincts of self preservance, but she can't stand the thought of Garhan being further in the cave, dying.
At least judging by all the screams and all, it doesn't sound good.
After enough internal struggle, Calanthe lets out an annoyed sound.
Hell, I'm just a goat right now. That boy has a whole life to live. I can't let my fear of dying a couple of times keep me from helping him.
With these thoughts, Calanthe runs at the bridge and attempts to leap across the bridge.

Acrobatics check!
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Also, if Calanthe gets far enough in the next room, she'll try to gore the nearest target with her horns!

Oomlowt is so strong, woah man!

Garhan feels a bit better now that he isn't so much close to dying anymore and now that Woden isn't pressed against him anymore!
Also now that the mites aren't so close either, Garhan decides it's the time to stop pretending he's a melee fighter and do something he's good at - casting some spells.
Garhan hopes the mites won't come hitting him as he concentrates.

Trying to concentrate to use Summon Monster 1 to summon a riding dog.

Ouch... This is bad...
Garhan hears his comrades yell, and turns to see what's going on, seeing Gird fall down all bloody.
"Ahh... No! GIRD!!"
Garhan wants to go and help Gird! He knows he can't, considering there's a huge centipede between them and it's not really the best thing to run on.
But he knows who he can help.
Himself.
It's not cool being this close to dying, and though he knows his witchy powers can't help in healing Woden and Gird anymore... He still hasn't healed himself today.
So Garhan decides to heal himself and hopes the mites won't kill him while he's at it.

You don't have to throw any other rolls since it's a touch thing on yourself, right?
Also sorry for the misunderstanding earlier!

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan, as he acts before Gird on a round, can't precognitively hear her, so he focuses on his own business.
This is absolutely horrible... Garhan isn't feeling so hot after all those mite attacks, and even more so after accidentally stabbing the ceiling just now!
Well in any case... Using this dagger is the best he can do right now, so Garhan tries another stab at stabbing M9.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Oh gosh, this blue sea of mites doesn't look nice at all! Darnit...
For a second, Garhan thinks about switching his weapon from dagger to quarterstaff, but he figures now that he feels Oomlowt's scaly - or rather clothing-clad - body against his leg somwhere that there really isn't enough room to effectively swing a staff around, so let's proceed with the dagger.
The mites back there with their dart-guns get Garhan really worried, but the reeality is that he can't really attack them right now... So Garhan proceeds to hit Mite 9 with his dagger.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Oh man oh man, everything happened so fast and suddenly everything was just purely terrible!
Garhan turns his head around frantically, eyeing the centipede, the mites, and his friends.
His first instict is to go back and attack the centipede, but the mites are already attacking him, so getting rid of them first seems like a lot better option right now.
Garhan proceeds to attack the mite right in front of him, yeah, the one we friendly call Mite 9, and tries his best to make a good swing, even if Woden's body is pushed against Garhan's.
Mmm, Woden's body.

Oh, rats!
"Uh, comrades? Could you all please hurry?"
This is not an ideal situation at all, being all alone on this side of the bridge.
Nevertheless! Garhan decides to be brave and keep on going! And hope everyone gets here soon.
In his bravery, Garhan approaches Mite 5 with his dagger pointed intimidatingly!

Garhan eyes the kobolds hugging.
By Erastil, kobolds are so cute!
The tiefling briefly shakes his head to get these thoughts out of his system. This is too serious of a situation to think about stuff like that..!
Garhan clears his throat.
"But our new friend is still weak from all the horrible things those mites did to him! We can't risk him falling..!"
Garhan looks at the bridge again. It still doesn't look nice.
He sighs and tries to think of positive thoughts. Remember how well you climbed down that wall, Garhan? yeah, that's the spirit!
"Okay... Here goes nothing..!"

Garhan bravely tries to cross the bridge!

Seeing that Mikmek isn't really interested in him anymore, Garhan wanders over to the taller humanoids' side of the... Room? Room is still a correct word inside a cave, right? Or is this... A tunnel? Hmm. Now that's something to think about.
"I'm not really sure about that bridge either... It looks pretty horrible. Do you think it'll even support us? We're a lot bigger than heavier than those mites..."

Calanthe lets out a dissapproving sound.
She might've been graceful in climbing down a wall, but something like an "unsupporting bridge" doesn't really sound like anything a goat will be capable of doing.

"Ah, right... I don't think Calanthe will make be able to climb it at all."
Garhan concludes.

This time Garhan makes sure he speaks Draconic. Because hey, it'd be silly to... Not speak Draconic. Maybe he was just talking to himself earlier?

Garhan lets out a dissappointed grunt as the Mites keep on running away from his reach!
Garhan is eager to chase after the mites, but Gird just asked him to heal her... And it is not in this young tiefling's nature to not help friends in need. So healing Gird takes priority over chasing after the mites.
"All right, Gird, I'll try to patch up those wounds! Please stay still for a second..."

Now that Garhan is done using his questionable powers, his concern shifts to Oomlowt's draconic rage.

Garhan draws his dagger from its sheath hanging from his belt, and proceeds to stab the closest mite - we friendly call him M2 - with the dagger!

Oh no!
Gotta think fast so Woden doesn't drag you down with his elven grace, Garhan!
So Garhan attempts to get to the bottom of the hole more gracefully than falling Woden.

Calanthe you graceful bastard.
Also, now that Garhan seems to be safely down, his first instinct is to run to Woden's side.

Calanthe is still around, by the way. She just... Kinda stayed back with Huey when things got all fighting-y.
But she's not happy about this second hole at all.
Goats shouldn't live underground.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Oomlowts words about a genocide were... A little unsettling for Garhan. But he decided to shrug it off. Maybe the kobold was just kidding.
"Oh, yes! Just a moment!"
Garhan scurried over to Gird and have her his healing touch of healing hex.

1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Sometimes it does pay off to just stand around! Gird just single handedly killed both of these weird little things and Garhan didn't even have to risk his life, good job.
"Yay! You were awesome, Gird!"

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan watches in awe as Gird's wand does something pretty darn nasty.
He is so very glad he is behind Gird and not in front of her.
Though that brings us Garhan's problem of still being crouched behind Gird and not being able to really do anything...
Garhan considers changing his battle plan and switching the dagger to his sling, but it's awfully cramped in here, so it doesn't really sound like a good idea.
Garhan just... Decides to hang around and silently hopes that Gird would move.

Garhan was sure those shrieks up ahead meant mites!
But...
There was a bootyful half-orc on his way.
"Uh..."
Well, nevertheless, Garhan readies his dagger.
It feels like a dagger is a much safer weapon option in these small tunnels than a long staff.

Garhan is happy to see everyone made it down in one piece. It is getting kinda crowded in here though... But the more the merrier, right? Yeah, that's what I thought.
Garhan follows Gird, keeping quiet, in case he'd pick up any sounds.

Perception check

Calanthe is getting pretty anxious in this tunnel.
If anyone gets too close, she's sure she's going to bump them with their horns. Seriously. Personal space is important, even for goats.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan is proud of his surprisingly succesfull climb down.
After taking a moment to feel good about himself, Garhan follows Gird down the narrow tunnel.
"Gird..! Wait..! Wait for us..!"

Calanthe feels like it really is her duty to follow after her stupid master student, no matter how horrible it feels for a goat to go into this horrible tunnel underground.
The kobold seems to be troubled.
...
Calanthe musters up all her willpower and fights the urge to just push the kobold down the shaft, because that wouldn't be good team spirit, now, would it?
The goat bleats so the silly humanoids would move out of her way and follows Garhan down the hole.
It's not all that easy for a quadruped.

And with these words our darkvisionary hero climbed down the hole.

Climb Check
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21

Calanthe looks at the hole, very unimpressed.
Now how is she going to go down there?
Well she... Obviously knew how but... Being in a small dark place with lots of sweaty humanoids didn't sound appealing.
On the other hand it's not like she could leave that stupid boy alone...
Ah damn.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

"A lamp works a lot more nicely than a torch!"
Garhan was all smiling again.
Gee that guy is easy to please.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan looks at the tree.
"Torches... Kinda sound like a bad idea. This tree is pretty dry-looking, and if this hole goes deep underground, well, fire in a small tunnel doesn't sound appealing... Though I guess we don't know how big it is down there yet."

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

"It seems pretty dark in there..."
Garhan's voice is worried. Darkness could be a problem.
"What do you guys think? Should we go in?"

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan sees Oomlowt being really stealthy! Boy, his kobold friend is so stealthy he's practically a chameleon!
Garhan tries to follow Oomlowt's example and be very unnoticeable.

I'm sure Garhan totally asked Ahir all kinds of non-important questions, like inquiries of her personal life.

"Sounds like a plan!"
Our tiefling hero says brightly.
"This tree looks intimidatingly huge too, so I'm sure we'll find... Something there!"

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan nodded and crossed his arms.
"Yes, west is good. I vote for west too."
Oomlowt was so good at starting things! Gotta give the little Kobold credit for that.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan really hoped Gird didn't hear that, either.
"I completely agree on the heading out!"

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

"Oh, we absolutely can't leave without her! That'd be horrible!"
Garhan nodded.
"...But that being said, I haven't seen her all morning."

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan joined the others with a very dissaproving-looking goat.
"Good morning, everyone..!"
He said, cheerfully.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan waved to Huey and Oomlowt threw them a little smile, getting up from his barrel.
The palm of his hand was itchy, so Garhan scratched it.
Wait... Did it look different from usual?
...
Nah.
Garhan walked over to the stables to kick that silly drunk goat up again.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan was sitting around outside on the yard on some barrel, he had already come outside to commune with Calanthe about today's spells and yesterday's bad behaviour and whatnot.
The tiefling waved his legs around and stared at the guesthouse door, waiting for the others to come out.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan had sat down in the ground a little distance from everyone else, he figured the selling of things would take a while, and since he didn't have anything to sell, he felt like he didn't exactly have to stand there.
He was just sitting in the ground, leaning to one of the buildings and looking at everyone from a short distance, smiling.
Calanthe, who was lying next to Garhan, let out a really "harrr-umph"-sounding sigh.
Garhan turned his eyes to the goat.

Calanthe spoke:

Goatspeech:
"You look awfully pleased."

"Well I am pleased! Everything is going nicely for once and we just got a new member to our adventuring party! And he seems like a nice person!"
Calanthe raised an eyebrow.
Goatspeech:
"Really, does he now? Not really to me. He seems like a dull human. And these other people... You really seem to think they're a lot more fun than they actually are."

Garhan's smile turned into a frown. "Don't be so mean! They are my friends!"
Goatspeech:
"Really? Friends? You've known them for a bit more than ten days. They hardly seem to trust you, yet you trust them completely. You really are a stupid boy. You might not want to see it but they certainly don't think of you as their friend."

Garhan bit his lip and made a fist. "Why do you have to be so mean? Would it hurt to be a little happier for me? I know you don't like them, but I do."
Goatspeech:
"I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just telling you what I see. Look, I just... Don't want you to get hurt for being too naïve. I am responsible for you after all... But you can be as thick-headed as you want to be. I'm going to go and eat some hay. See you at the big food situation."

As Calanthe finished her last sentence, she got up, shook her body, and walked off. She'd be back by the dinner, there would be wine. And she could really use some wine.
Garhan glanced at the goat walking away, then shifted his eyes back at the rest of the gang, and sighed.
"Stupid goat", he muttered.
...And to anyone not understanding goatspeech this conversation probably seemed pretty weird.

Wow, lengthy self-RPing, oops. Also I guess Garhan is less goofy when he's by himself/when Calanthe is mean?

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan shakes his head to Gird.
"At least I don't have anything to sell, and I doubt you'd have either."
Spellbooks and firerods are too cool to be sold, you know.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

"We came here to..! Uh... I think we came here to trade some items? I think. I don't have any items I want to trade but the others do. But! Huey here wants to join our team! And I think it would be a splendid idea to celebrate this with a shared meal! So I wanted to ask you if you had any food at hand. Do you?"
Smooth.
Garhan made cheerful gestures as he spoke, it was very clear he'd cheered up a lot after his idea of food had been accepted.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

And suddenly there Oleg is!
"Oh, Oleg! Hey! Long time no see!"
Garhan waves to Oleg, all cheerfully. It's pretty easy to please this guy, isn't it?
"How have you been?"

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan's mood seemed to lighten up, it was visible from his face.
Yes! This cool new guy did like eating!
"Let's go look for Oleg then!"
The tiefling waved his arm and marched out of the guesthouse, looking for Oleg.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan felt awkward in this silence.
"Uh... Do you guys want to... See if Oleg has anything to eat or... Something?"
Yes, dining with people totally strengthens your bonds with them!
Also maybe some of Garhan's teammates would remember they had items to trade to money if they saw Oleg? Garhan didn't want to give up on the spellbook he couldn't use though, it was nice to read at night.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

Garhan felt bad about Gird and Woden being so unwelcoming.
"Oh no! We... We're really happy to have you aboard! Honestly!"
Calanthe rolled her goat eyes, making Garhan feel even worse after he saw the eyerolling.
"Or at least... I am..", the tiefling mumbled.

Male. Tiefling. Level 1 Witch.

"I... Think we're supposed to search the surrounding areas? At least that's what we've been doing."
Garhan looks at the rest of his team, in case someone was actually on a different quest.
