The foremost reason for not making our folio available as a PDF was that we saw its value as a physical product, with pockets, being the main reason anyone would want it.

That having been said, after seeing the many requests and reasoned arguments for it in electronic form, we've decided not only to make it available that way - after PaizoCon - but we're working on additional content that you can slip into the pockets, if you have one :)

If you're going to be at PaizoCon, you can take a look at our folio there, otherwise, give us a few days to work up a "Sample" sheet, so you can see what everyone's talking about.

Our additional content will include some advanced sheets for attacks and spellcasting.

Thanks for the comments on the Melee Manager - we're likely going to include it with some of our future electronic releases.

And there's much more coming soon.

Thanks,
Gamer Ingenuity

Sorry for having a case of the high horse here... but 8 bucks per character (since the company decided not to make a PDF)... and I don't get to see what it looks like ahead of time? I love the gamers in my troupe, but I'm not paying 8 bucks a pop for them to have one record, that they can only use once, with no PDF for them to print out to use if a character dies, because the company had flawed logic on why they didn't make it reusable.

I can't help but imagine that this would be an easier sale if you Put "Sample" text over some of the pages to let people look at, or came into the present age with a PDF version of it. There's plenty of folio's out there, but I like GI's Melee Manager and that is something we use every game.

If you're all at GenCon, I'll grab at least one to finally see what all the hype's about. But not till then.

The Gods.

Some, ancient powers of earth, water, or sky; primal forces of nature, guardian-spirits of the land; keepers of sacred places...

Some, pure thought manifested in ideal form -truth, purity, law, malice...

Some, once mortal, now ascended to be among the divine through deed or passion...

Gamer Ingenuity presents an as-yet untitled tome of deities, each drawn from a real-world faith, myth or legend; each quite familiar in theme, but freshly re-imagined for your Pathfinder RPG campaign.

Inspired by the gods and heroes of Anglo-Saxon and Britannic folklore (among others), and designed to integrate seamlessly into any fantasy setting based on Northern European or fairy tale tropes, this book will feature a pantheon of gods in three parts: the New, Auld, and Dark faiths - including cosmologies, supporting scripture, holy orders, temple maps, and a calendar.

Game material will feature the new Sub-Domains from the Pathfinder RPG Advanced Players Guide, plus new domains, powers, relics, and spells.

We will be previewing entries here, on paizo.com , and elsewhere.

Watch for it!

Every fantasy world has intelligent "monsters" with their own languages and cultures. Whether a small tribe or an entire kingdom, a wide range of capabilities and talent must exist within these societies. If there is a goblin king, he can probably fight competently, or has a champion who can - and they aren't CR 1/3.

Has your party risen in level to a point where archetypical monsters like orcs, hobgoblins, kobolds and many others simply aren't a threat any more? Would you, as a Game Master, like to be able to continue to use monsters like these in your campaign as your party's power grows? Would you crack a smile when your players underestimate that pack of worgs that somehow managed to sneak up on them?

Gamer Ingenuity is happy to present a volume of character class-leveled monsters, compatible with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, for use as adversaries, allies, or contacts - The Boosted Bestiary, releasing this Summer/Fall, and previewing soon in small electronic slices here on paizo.com

We currently have at least 80 monsters getting the character level treatment, and we'll be releasing them a few at a time until the entire book is done.

As always, we're looking for feedback. Thanks!

The first of many Pathfinder-compatible PDF's from Gamer Ingenuity!

It's called the Melee Manager, and its meant to replace the scratch paper or combat pad margin space that every GM uses to track hit point damage to the monsters.

We went from the assumption that the GM usually operates in two modes - one when the players are attacking, and one when its the monsters' initiative.

The Melee Manager comes as two form-fillable PDF's.

The first is an attacks summary the GM can use when its the monsters' turn. You can note each monster's attacks, bonuses, damage, special abilities etc... There's note space for their feats, skills, relevant ability scores - you could even note the page number in the appropriate bestiary when you need to look for more details.

When it's the players' turn, the Damage Track lets you keep an organized record of the HP loss to each monster. There's space for defenses, saves, CMD, and at the bottom, CR, XP and treasure. When the fight is over, you have a permanent record of what was killed, what they had to loot. and what they were worth.

Print more as many as you need for each game session. Just 99 cents.

In the UK, we are currently carried by Esdevium.

You have our promise here that we won't come after you for copying it for personal use.

We decided we wouldn't offer it as a PDF because there are a lot of really good electronic character sheets already available, often for free, or nearly so. There's also Hero Lab. Lots of these sheets get very specific and are super-customizable in ways we couldn't be as a printed product. They are also 20, 30, or even 90 pages - you pick and choose which ones you need. And they work fine.

Our goal was to provide a detailed sheet that would cover as much as possible without being too big. Something you could take right off the shelf and start filling out, that would be all in one packet on quality high-weight paper - and we really wanted it to have pockets. In essence, an actual folio, as opposed to a character sheet (though we think its a great character sheet, too).

Thanks everyone, for all the interest and for all your comments!

We'll try to answer your questions here, or by email if you like.

Really? So it's an awesome 12 page record that can only be used once? :(

Alliance has them at every location, as does ACD and PHD. Aladdin should have theirs shortly, for stores in the North Star State that use them.

I see that Alliance Games is carrying them, so your retailer can probably order them.

Thank you Lisa!

This has been a whole new experience, and we're really excited to be supporting Pathfinder! (We just wrapped up a session ourselves.)

The folio paper is 60# white. We went with a heavier stock specifically because of feedback at GenCon from Pathfinder Society players, who highlighted durability for regular erasing as something we needed to have.

Do you have any thoughts about how well the paper sheets will hold up to repeated erasing / editing over the course of 20 levels? What kind of stock did they use?

Thanks!

Our PFRPG-compatible Complete Character Folio is back from the printers and shipping to distribution and to Paizo this week!

You can order it from Paizo here

or look for it at your FLGS in the next week or two.

Thanks very much!

Would enchanting a double-axe cost twice as much? Could you have different types of enhancements on each end?

The orc double-axe is a martial weapon to your half-orc. But Inquisitors are not proficient with martial weapons, so you cannot use it without spending a feat (as pointed out above).

As for the Bane

rules wrote:

I'd have to rule that each side of the double weapon is a weapon, and therefore an Inquisitor can only imbue one side with Bane.

Excellent suggestions, thank you. I'm don't normally have an issue changing a rule here or there in my home campaign - I tend to run a pretty balanced game, though I would agree it is "low magic".

Where can I find the orison you mentioned? I don't see it in the Pathfinder rulebook.

I might also consider shaving the Short Rest rule to a maximum of 25%, and halve the spell refreshing.

We'll probably play with it a little to see how it works.

Thanks again for the help,

Well then I suggest to think of more options you can do before you actually go and mess with the rules. Usually I only mess with rules if I really disagree with them. For you problem you could have it that you have some creatures actually drop healing potions or have areas where they find potions. If they are doing a dungeon crawl and it sounds like they are they better have a cleric or some kind of healer. If no one took the role of the healer then that is their fault not yours or the game's.

Now if you are just throwing a lot at them and they are running out of juice then let them take care of it. If they need to rest and regain spells then let them do it but just have a low % chance of something coming to eat them.

You could also just let them fail. This doesn't mean let them die but they can always backtrack go back to town and restock and heal up.

Also if they do die well then that will teach them to be better prepared for dungeon crawling when it comes down to healing.

One thing that I allow in my Pathfinder game is that I allow the spell cure minor wounds which is a orision. This means they can cast it as much as they want but the spell will not heal them past 25% of their total HP. So if they have 25% or more of their total HP the spell does nothing.

What this does is it takes some of the burden off healing potions and healing spells. This doesn't mess with the healing mechanic of the game.

Hope that helps.

I'm running a large 3rd level party through a dungeon and they're having a tough time of it. They are about to enter their 3rd day in the dungeon. The previous "day" consisted of a couple of hours' exploring and fighting, before they had to retire to a secure room to rest until the next full day to recover themselves. The first day wasn't much different, except they entered the dungeon later in the day, so the amount of rest time wasn't as long. I thought this might be a way to keep them going, if at a reduced capacity.

In 4E, 5 minutes would be enough to recover all mid level powers and hit points. Apples and Oranges, I know, but the basis of the problem is the same.

Three times per day, characters may take a Short Rest.

Characters may recover 25% of their HP and two 1st level spells after 15 minutes of uninterrupted Short Rest. Extending this rest by 15 minutes rest will restore another 25% of their HP, and two more 1st level spells, to a maximum of 50% of their normal HP total and four 1st level spells. In any case, a character may not heal to more than 50% of their normal HP total in this way. This does not prohibit other healing (spells – including spells regained through Short Rest, spell-like abilities, etc…) from raising the character’s HP total above 50%.

Prepared spells recovered in this way must be spells the character had prepared previously in the day. If a spellcaster chooses, he or she may swap their regained spell for another known spell in the same way they normally prepare their spells each day, taking the necessary time to do so.

Short Rests may not be taken consecutively. There must be least one encounter (and possibly more, at the GM’s discretion) between each Short Rest.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I think that this would override the natural healing mechanic built into PF. Character normally at least to my knowledge only regain 1hp a day per level with full rest. However, it is not a bad idea if you run a game of very low or no magic. Additionally in a world of little to no magic this would allow your characters to endure longer and I would say that the heal skill would be invaluable because you could use that after rest to raise the HP over 50%.

The spell casting part is way to strong in my personal opinion.
