"It would appear few of the locals made it past the scaly kind siege. Perhaps you can tell us what happened? Any information might prove valuable to our survival." Gadron keeps the distaste from his face as he takes a seat on the rocks and dirt of the cave. "We have heard tell of a fort nearby. Perhaps we start there with the information? "

"Greetings, Sir Dwarf. My name is Gadron Delboriel. I and my comrades are new here in this land, and would greatly appreciate allies and shelter." Gadron bows to the dwarf, looking over him and past into the sheltered area.

If it helps, I expect the kobold will be the first of us to be sacrificed...er...heroically fall in battle. At least, if Gadron can engineer such a situation. Also, I feel you on the tension - being thrown together like this, especially in an online game with strangers, is a bit tough to get into.
HP: 7/7, AC 12, T 12, FF 10 Elf Illusionist 1 Init +4, Perception +7, [Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +2]
"I doubt arrows and blades are coming this way. My distraction should have covered our exit most effectively, leaving us in the clear, as it were. I do agree that we should proceed towards this fort, post haste. A more secure location, with stout walls and a stocked armory seem like a good start on our journey." Gadron looks around at the blasted land of the battlefield, squinting at the desolation. "A better one than this place, at any rate."

"Thank you. That is my specialty, after all; misdirection and subterfuge." Gadron smiles at the minotaur and sketches a brief bow. "I wonder if we might be able to talk our way into the complex. We have a disparate enough group, and several are scalykind. Could that get us into the grounds, if we so choose to do so?"

"I see. They are awaiting the departure of the birds, assuming that means living creatures have scattered them." Gadron seems extremely unconcerned about that turn of events, waving his hands and speaking in elven for a moment. A cluster of black birds swarms the area, circling and flapping just as the real ravens do. "That should suffice." 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 stealth Casting silent image to form a cluster of ravens, joining with the flock still flapping around. With that done, Gadron heads the way the man suggests.

"Who is watching the ravens, and to what end? In addition, who shot you? Kobolds or trollkin, or similar creatures?" Gadron looks over the man, allowing the healer to do his job, then investigates the sword and child's body. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 perception

"Indeed, a team we are. At least, that is what our masters have chosen to term this arrangement. Strangers thrown together in dangerous lands, with no recourse but to work together for survival; I am unsure 'team' is the proper description but it seems to work for the moment." Gadron spares a glance at Nish'Grak, seeing the kobold rifle the pockets of the fallen. He twists his face in distaste before turning back to the wounded person being feasted upon by crows. "I suppose our situation requires a certain amount of ghoulish banditry. These foes may very well carry supplies useful for our search. At least it seems I need not sully my hands, with you around, Nish'Grak the Kobold."

"Many thanks, my good dragon-man. I much prefer my internal bits remain inside my skin," Gadron looks over his clothing and frowns. "I shall have to prepare entirely new cantrips tomorrow to remove these stains and repair the tears. That's ufortunate." Looking up at the person feebly swatting at the carrion birds, he perks up a bit. "Ah, a potential survivor. I assume he will be most grateful for assistance, and provide us some intelligence."
HP: 7/7, AC 12, T 12, FF 10 Elf Illusionist 1 Init +4, Perception +7, [Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +2]
"Well, that was thoroughly unpleasant. That creature even struck me with its spear. It will take some doing to get my clothing fully cleaned and repaired, and everything." Gadron dusts himself off and examines the damage to his outfit, seemingly Oblivious to the fact that his flesh was stabbed with a spear point. "My thanks to you, Horvan. Your sword proved quite a bit more suitable than my quarterstaff here. Say, does anyone possess any healing magic? Some of my blood seems to have come out with that injury, and I'd appreciate if that were to stop."
HP: 7/7, AC 12, T 12, FF 10 Elf Illusionist 1 Init +4, Perception +7, [Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +2]
Gadron bops the kobold ahead of him (B) with a fairly ineffective quarterstaff blow. "I wish this hadn't come to violence, but so be it." 1d20 + 0 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 0 - 4 = 6 defensive quarterstaff strike, for 1d6 ⇒ 6 bludgeoning damage. AC 14 for remainder of round. "Little help here? This is hardly my expertise, engaging in hand-to-claw combat with a miniature dragon person." Gadron sounds more than a little put out, being in the fray as he is.

@GM Shady: Spoiler:
Re Charges: Charge
Charging is a special full-round action that allows you to move up to twice your speed and attack during the action. Charging, however, carries tight restrictions on how you can move. Movement During a Charge: You must move before your attack, not after. You must move at least 10 feet (2 squares) and may move up to double your speed directly toward the designated opponent. If you move a distance equal to your speed or less, you can also draw a weapon during a charge attack if your base attack bonus is at least +1. You must have a clear path toward the opponent, and nothing can hinder your movement (such as difficult terrain or obstacles). You must move to the closest space from which you can attack the opponent. If this space is occupied or otherwise blocked, you can't charge. If any line from your starting space to the ending space passes through a square that blocks movement, slows movement, or contains a creature (even an ally), you can't charge. Helpless creatures don't stop a charge. If you don't have line of sight to the opponent at the start of your turn, you can't charge that opponent. You can't take a 5-foot step in the same round as a charge. If you are able to take only a standard action on your turn, you can still charge, but you are only allowed to move up to your speed (instead of up to double your speed) and you cannot draw a weapon unless you possess the Quick Draw feat. You can't use this option unless you are restricted to taking only a standard action on your turn.
A charging character gets a +2 bonus on combat maneuver attack rolls made to bull rush an opponent. Even if you have extra attacks, such as from having a high enough base attack bonus or from using multiple weapons, you only get to make one attack during a charge. Lances and Charge Attacks: A lance deals double damage if employed by a mounted character in a charge. Weapons Readied against a Charge: Spears, tridents, and other weapons with the brace feature deal double damage when readied (set) and used against a charging character
Gadron moves up to engage with the closest kobold, holding his quarterstaff in a defensive position. Standard Action for Full Defense if possible. 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24 Knowledge (local)

Gadron moves up a bit as well during the surprise round, holding his quarterstaff at the ready but staying at the back of the group. "Shot first and ask questions later, eh? That's certainly one way to operate in an unknown land potentially filled with enemies."

"Joyful, it would appear we have already begun making friends. I wish I could say I had expected anything else. Well, nothing left to do but press on, I suppose." Gathering up his cloak and robes, Gadron steps up with the others, using his staff as a walking stick for the moment.

"Indeed, Artaruk, I am a 'spell-slinger.' I specialize in Illusion magic, for the most part, but have quite a few useful tricks for aiding in combat. I expect you'll find them quite satisfactory when it comes time to utilize those weapons." Gadron bows and sweeps his staff behind him. "I am known as Gadron Delboriel, at your service."

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 perception "Well, that was certainly a novel experience. Any of you lot have any idea just where we may have landed? It certainly looks rugged enough for the far north, I admit." Gadron pulls his cloak closer around his shoulders and shivers. "I probably should have invested in a bit more fur, to be honest. If this wind and that flat plain are any indication, it's going to be a cold night tonight." The elf glances over the team, mentally tallying up their equipment and dress. "So, shall we head off? I imagine our first destination should be somewhere closer to the source of that smoke. At the very least, the fires should provide some modicum of warmth." He shoulders his pack and leans on his quarterstaff, eager to begin moving in the hope it will warm him up. |
