Ok, so I'm having this discussion about my kineticist regarding the snake infusion. The description is pretty clear:

Snake
You have fine control over your kinetic blast, allowing you to alter its path to avoid obstacles. You can trace out any path no more than 120 feet long for your blast, potentially allowing you to avoid cover (even total cover). You can choose a path that leads into squares you cannot see.

It states that allow cover/total cover to hit a square even if I'm not seeing it, ok. But the GM is saying that if I can't see the target he'll apply a 50% miss chance because it's the rule of total concealment (not cover). I understand that concealing from spells ( e.g. invisibility, mist, etc) should definitely consider this, I'm totally ok with magical concealment.

BUT, for exemple, if it's not a pitch-black environment, I moved to a place where I still know where the target is (e.g. my iniciative is first, I move around a corner and shoot), should the miss chance be applied?

I mean, the ONLY this this power does is giving the ability to control the path and hit that desired place. To me it sounds like debuffing the only thing that the power gives.

If we check the description for cover and concealment, they kinda crash and because the Snake is only mentioning cover, not conccealment, the GM is clinging on that. But I say that if it's a physical obstacle, it's a cover. He holds on to the idea that if I don't see, it's concealed thus 50% miss.

Total Cover
If you don’t have line of effect to your target (that is, you cannot draw any line from your square to your target’s square without crossing a solid barrier), he is considered to have total cover from you. You can’t make an attack against a target that has total cover.

Concealment:
...you have line of effect to a target but not line of sight, he is considered to have total concealment from you.

I understand that there is the Greater Windsight, but the Snake, to me, means that if I know the path I want, the blast goes (also, snake is a lower level, doen't make sense to me if it'd require a hiher level talent)

Hey, I'm playing with an aerokineticist and we came across some doubts regarding the description of Elemental Whispers.

The description:
You form a friendship with a fragment of your element. The element speaks back to you empathically, like a familiar. Pick a type of creature usually allowed as a familiar when you gain this wild talent. You gain the Alertness feat and the special abilities granted by a familiar of that type. As a standard action, you can give the voice of the element the body of such a creature, using elemental matter of the appropriate element within 30 feet. As long as you concentrate, the familiar can take actions as a normal animal of its type, and it can move any distance away from you, though if it takes any damage or you cease concentrating, it returns to your mind. You lose Alertness while the familiar is manifested in this way. The familiar gains abilities as usual for a familiar of its type, though it never gains the ability to speak with animals of its kind.

I got that talent as a owl-shaped air element. The main issue is, when it says:

"You form a friendship with a fragment of your element. The element speaks back to you empathically, like a familiar."

We're discussing if it's only able to give emotional impressions, as it's not a full "speak with animals" ability, or it actually speaks.
Althought the text is comparing to a familiar, my interpretation is that it actually SPEAKS, as it also says later "...give the VOICE of the element the body...".

My GM is sayng that because it's comparing to a familiar, we should consider the rules of familiar and only use the emotional/empathical link, but I see it otherwise.

I also think that the description of the Greater Elemental Whispers reinforces that when it says that if it dies, "you can still contact its voice in your mind and gain the Alertness", as if it goes back to being the normal whisper and being that voice.

Second question:
I'm thinking about getting the Greater Whisper. I understand that it becomes a proper familiar, thus, would it be able to have archetypes? Would you guys have any suggestion to compensate de share/deliver spells ability?

As it is in the description, I'm having second thoughts if it's useful or not.
