Junior is felled the electric charge that jumps from the chains as Nic deftly disarms them. Safa absorbs the charge that would have hit the prisoners. Slipp was fortunately standing by right outside the room and quick moves to heal Junior before he slides any further toward the Boneyard.

I did notice that Junior rolled a Reflex save instead of a Fortitude, but that still would not be a crit fail, so the result is the same. He is hit for exactly as many HP as he has, so anything that heals him at least 1 HP saves him. I don't have any doubt that would happen well before he hit Dying 4.

I believe that is a wrap. It has been a long set of Scenarios (first post was in October last year, so eight months) and I appreciate everyone being patient and hanging in through the long haul.

Everyone take care and I hope to see you around the table again in the future.

STORM-WROUGHT CHAINS electricity damage: 4d8 + 14 ⇒ (3, 7, 3, 6) + 14 = 33

Middling damage. A crit fail would put someone down, but we also didn't put anyone but Nic and Junior in the room to disable the Chains. Nic definitely passes, so he only takes 16 points of damage.

Junior?

Having been freed from the chains, the three prisoners express their gratitude and vow to continue their work against corrupt, evil individuals like Fasiel.

Real life has been getting in the way, and since I am travelling, I am using the chart in the latest guide instead of my normal cheat sheet. The Cheat sheet I use lists the results by Task level, and the chart in the new guide lists by Character level. Since the tasks would be at level -2, I assume your level -1 translates to level +1 on the chart listing by character level.

If anyone downloaded their Chronicle sheets prior to this time, please download them again as I just realized I had not checked the box for the bonus EA reputation. All sheets should be updated with the EA bonus reputation and the Earn income rolls I have seen here,

When you GM most of the time, ACP builds up quickly.

Junior, I think that is a success, and I am having to interpret the new tables so I think you get 24 SP? Does that meet your expectation?

Slipp, I think you forgot the +1 from Luz's critical RK. At this CP, Fasiel has an AC of 23 and as I stated above, he is flat-footed most of the combat due to using Punishing Strike every round. His effective AC is 21. With the +1 from Luz, you hit with a 21.

Slipp gathers a small ball of fire into their hands and launches it toward Fasiel. Fasiel continues to rant and his head is turned the other way as Slipp's ball of flames catches him in the back of the head and he falls to the ground.

As soon as Fasiel falls, Safa swoops in to stabilize him. He must be brought to the city authorities for trial so he can face mortal justice.

After defeating Fasiel and turning him into the authorities, you return to Venture-Captain Esmayl ibn Qaradi to report on your success. Safa thanks you for helping them stop this evil would-be genie-binder from continuing to bring misery to genies and mortals alike. Safa expresses their desire to continue working with the Pathfinders, finding their time together both entertaining and fulfilling in ways that their meanderings through the ether had lacked lately.

As you congratulate each other on a job well done, a letter arrives. Text below, image in slide 5.

Ominous Letter
My esteemed foes,
It pleases me to see the Pathfinder Society has equaled its reputation in dealing with Fasiel ibn Sazadin. With the resources I provided him, a small band of Pathfinders should have been a simple task to manage. Your quick thinking, skill at arms, and capacity for gathering allies should be applauded. My respect for your capabilities is only surpassed by my desire for your utter annihilation. Trust that the former shall ensure my good judgment in the execution of the latter. Consider it an honor you have proven yourselves worthy of my direct attentions.
This city shall be mine and your destruction the final thread in the tapestry of that endeavor. Until then, savor this small triumph.

Sincerely,
Your Nemesis

Based on my evaluation of the success criteria, you are good in all areas.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
The party members complete your primary objective by capturing Fasiel. Doing so earns each party member 2 Reputation with your chosen faction.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVES
The Party members complete your secondary objective if you accomplish any 2 of the following 4 tasks:
Capture Fasiel’s minions with Chaliz alive: Fail
rescue the prisoners in the workshop without setting off the trap: ????
recover the tablets in the treasury: Success
recover the evidence in the offices: Success
Doing so earns each Party Member 2 Reputation with your chosen faction.

FACTION NOTES
Envoy’s Alliance: The Party members complete your faction mission through earning Safa’s trust by doing 3 of the following:
resolve the encounter in the garden without using violence: Success
win Chaliz’s favor: Success
recover Rayyan’s seal: Success
disable the hazard without breaking the amphora in the treasury: Success
deal only nonlethal damage to Fasiel: Fail
never ask for encounter help: ???????
Doing so earns each party member 2 additional Reputation with the Envoy’s Alliance faction.

As you can see, even without the last two activities, you have enough Successes to get both the Secondary Success condition and the Envoy's Alliance Reputation.

I'll do the reporting and post the Chronicle Sheets shortly. Feel free to RP attempting to free the prisoners in the workshop if you like.

Luz Steels himself against Fasiel's words, but gains some insights into the way Fasiel is thinking to pass along to help the party.

Martine initiates a healing surge for Mavenee and himself. Mavenee tries to gore Fasiel, but misses badly.

Junior is still unnerved by all the ranting, but does throw a javelin at Fasiel and manages to hit him for a minor wound.

Then Junior manages to sneak over to the last mirror and cover it with a wall hanging before the strange creature inside can react.

No more mirrors to interfere with hits with damage over 20 HP, and Fasiel is definitely unsteady on hsi feet, although he continues to rant.

Hui Kong is still unnerved and can't quite make contact with Fasiel.

Fasiel strikes out at Mavenee., after continuing his rant at the group.

◆ Frightening Rant

Frightening Rant Description:

Frightening Rant [one-action] (auditory, concentrate, emotion, enchantment, fear, linguistic, mental, occult) Fasiel rants angrily, filling nearby creatures with shame, fear, and anger. Each creature within 30 feet must succeed at a DC 24 Will save or become frightened 1 (frightened 2 on a critical failure). While frightened by this rant, creatures take a –2 status penalty to Strength-based damage rolls against Fasiel but gain a +2 status bonus to those rolls against other creatures.

◆ Punishing Strike at Mavenee

Punishing Strike:

Punishing Strike [one-action] Fasiel unleashes his constant rage in a reckless attack that makes him flat-footed until the start of his next turn. He Strikes; if he hits, he increases the number of damage dice by one and adds Push to the effect. This counts as two attacks for his multiple attack penalty.

Strike with Fist (agile, magical): 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
bludgeoning Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 1) + 11 = 16

◆ Second Strike at Mavenee

Strike with Fist (agile, magical): 1d20 + 17 - 10 ⇒ (10) + 17 - 10 = 17
bludgeoning Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 2) + 11 = 17

Fasiel rants, then hits Mavenee with a solid fist. Fasiel's second strike misses.

The problem with laying consequences on Junior is that there weren't any described in the hazard. It seems the only penalty would be the loss of actions from trying to disable the mirror and failing. I should have made the failure clear so you would not have tried the Thievery without the pre-requisite Stealth. The follow on from that will be: what happens if you succeed at the Stealth but fail the Thievery, do you have to make the Stealth again before trying the Thievery again? I am going to say no unless there are other intervening actions.

Per the Stealth skill you can sneak while moving up to half your speed. If you had any feats or abilities that allowed you to modify that speed, those could apply.

A standard disable is two actions, but the hazard states you can disable with a stealth check followed by a Thievery. Does that mean those two activities are contained in two actions? It doesn't say. The Dispel Magic is definitely two actions, but I can see doing the stealth and thievery in just two actions instead of three. Final answer is the Stealth and Thievery are done over the course of just two actions.

Hi Junior, I've got a problem here. IF you go back to read the original "Slipp notices" entry about the mirrors, it says "Disable: DC 21 Stealth (trained) to approach a mirror without showing up in the reflection, followed by DC 19 Thievery to cover mirror or dispel magic (2nd level; counteract DC 19) to counteract the binding.

The last stealth check I can find for you is only 18, which doesn't meet the DC. The mirrors don't have a real penalty for failure or reaction other than what they do for Fasiel.

Since I didn't tell you that you failed the first check, I am going to go ahead and give you the successful disable on the Mirror.

Junior misses with his Javelin but manages to pull blanket off the adjacent couch and cover the farthest mirror. The Strange creature inside can no longer see Fasiel to react to his injuries.

As an FYI, I assumed that Fasiel had the staff in one hand and in his rage, that was what he started hitting you with. His other weapons aren't necessarily less effective, and I never had him swap to a two-handed grip on the staff. I am doing my best to have him act enraged and not thinking particularly clearly.

His fists and Antlers look to be almost as deadly to hit and potentially do more damage. The staff doesn't seem particularly special, and it is the rage he puts into his strikes that gives him the extra die of damage, not the weapon. He has a lot of static damage on his strikes, and the CP adjustment gives him the Elite template which gives him even more static damage.

Nic, like most conditions Frightened doesn't stack. The worst case is that you critically fail your save at the start of your turn, become Frightened 2, then your frightened value is reduced by one at the end of your turn, and you are Frightened 1 until your next turn.

Nic continues to struggle against Fasiel's rant and attacks ineffectively.

Luz is also unnerved by Fasiel's words, but he analyses the situation and uses his whip to wrench Fasiel's staff out of his hand. The staff falls to floor with a clatter and scream of rage from Fasiel. Luz then steps in and throws a hammer at Fasiel, provoking Fasiel's ire.

Hui Kong, nope, no immunity for crit successes. As discussed earlier, Fasiel keeps spamming this ability.

As far as the spell goes, I am inclined to let it go as played. We all make mistakes, but I'm not inclined to go back and RETCON that action.

Junior is right that the discussion about Nic's move is moot. Fasiel is off guard every round he uses the Punishing Strike, and his tactics state he uses the Punishing Strike every round.

Martin heals Junior before Juniors stabs weakly at Fasiel. The strike hits for little damage.

Target selection:

1 Junior 2 Mavenee 3 Hui Kong 4 Luz: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Green moves down to attack Luz

◆ Stride

◆ First strike
fangs (agile, finesse): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Stage 1 1d4 Poison: 1d4 ⇒ 1 poison damage and stupefied 1 (1 round);

◆ Second strike
fangs (agile, finesse): 1d20 + 9 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 4 = 7
piercing Damage plus raktavarna venom: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The strange green creature bites Luz, and Luz sees ugly green filaments start to spread around the wound.

Martin cringes at Fasiel's words, but Mavenee stands strong. Mavenee also shrugs off the green filaments emanating from the strange creature's bite. Mavenee roars. The Strange Red creature dissipates into the air and Fasiel screams as the roar shakes his soul.

Martin, since the Red creature dies during the Thundering Roar, you can RETCON the last action. If what you do requires a roll, you can use the 15 on the die.

I kind of agree, but the description says nothing about an immunity and the tactics for Fasiel says he uses it every round.

Luz doesn't like his chances against Fasiel, but does manage a solid hit on the strange Red Creature. The creature staggers like it is badly hurt but doesn't fall. The attack doesn't do quite as much damage as Luz thought it should.

Nic, that is a slight exploit of the grouped initiative rules. In a regular session you and Junior would be on different initiatives and it would have taken two actions to ready an action to step away after Junior acts. I am going to let it slide this time.

Nic is still rattled by Fasiel and can't land an attack.

Slipp is unaffected by Fasiel's latest rant but hasn't had an opportunity to act yet.

Slipp's vision is blurred by their earlier evasion, so the flames miss.

Hui Kong is unphased by Fasiel's words, but as he unwinds a powerful attack, another mirror shatters and a strange greenish creature steps forth, disrupting Hui Kong's attack.

GM Screen:

Green perception for initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Fasiel continues his rant as he strikes at Junior

◆ Frightening Rant
Everyone needs to make a DC 24 Will save or become frightened 1 (frightened 2 on a critical failure)

◆ Punishing Strike at Junior

Punishing Strike:

Punishing Strike [one-action] Fasiel unleashes his constant rage in a reckless attack that makes him flat-footed until the start of his next turn. He Strikes; if he hits, he increases the number of damage dice by one and adds Push to the effect. This counts as two attacks for his multiple attack penalty.

Strike with Staff (two-hand d8): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (5) + 18 = 23
bludgeoning Damage: 2d4 + 11 ⇒ (3, 4) + 11 = 18

◆ Second Strike at Junior
Strike with Staff (two-hand d8): 1d20 + 18 - 10 ⇒ (5) + 18 - 10 = 13
bludgeoning Damage: 2d4 + 11 ⇒ (1, 2) + 11 = 14

Fasiel hits with the first strike but not the second.

Red moves to attack Mavenee

◆ Step toward Mavenee

◆ Strike at Mavenee

fangs (agile, finesse): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
piercing Damage plus raktavarna venom: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Raktavarna Venom (poison):

Math for Luz:

Fasiel's base Reflex save is 24 with the level adjustments for this party. Even if the off-guard and frightened did impact this attempt, you would need a 31 for a critical success. Since those don't apply, you need to hit 34 for a crit success.

Luz, I understand now about the Disarm, I just hadn't seen the whip mentioned. Also, does the hammer have a returning rune?

GM Screen for Luz RK:

Society on Fasiel: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Luz does not succeed on the RK with the DAS

Junior is significantly rattled by Fasiel's rant and spends his time flailing ineffectively.

Nic, I don't think you map had updated before you acted, as Fasiel moved last round. I moved you to an appropriate position on the map.

As Nic moves in to deliver a devastating blow to Fasiel, one of the mirrors breaks and distracts Nic as another strange creature emerges. Mirror breaking disrupts Nic's action.

GM Screen:

Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

The new creature's initiative happens to put it into the same place in the initiative as the dead one, so I am just using the dead one's place in the tracker.

Luz, I am having trouble figuring out how you are doing a Disarm from a 10 foot range? Do you have an ability that allows that? Also, it just loosens his grip because 29 is not a critical against his Reflex DC. His Frightened went away at the end of his turn. Off-Guard specifies it reduces AC.

Luz manages to loosen Fasiel's grip on his staff, but he does not drop it. When Luz tries to throw his hammer at Fasiel, it goes wide.

Yes, Hui Kong is at 10 HP, and to make matters worse. . .

As Hui Kong casts the spell to go with the strike, Fasiel sees an opening an launches an attack of opportunity.

Strike with Staff (two-hand d8): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
bludgeoning Damage: 2d4 + 11 ⇒ (1, 2) + 11 = 14

Unless someone can point me to something that says SpellStrike doesn't provoke, but the Spell has the manipulate trait. At least is wasn't a crit.

Fasiel catches Hui Kong in an unguarded moment and strikes the Magus in the chest, dropping the Magus to the ground.
