"MORE" is not better.
creating and tying deities to each and every villages politics?
that would create chaos.
who trumps whom? who is the most powerful?
does okey'pokey village deity number 7,942 have the ability to grant spells outside of the village boundaries?
what about repeat gods of agriculture, civics, trade and martial defense?
which ones would matter and where? what about a god of nature? where does that faith have "boundaries"?
You need to do a lot more thinking. a lot more.

Gods which just happened to not "feel" that powerful (and in which case does this include and core deities)? All non-core (including incredibly powerful ones)? why bow before a servant when the king is right there?

reply point 1. I point towards "Proxies" that have their own following.
it is fine to have heralds and agents. Yet, it is not proper to claim powers and followers when you take them away from your divine patron.
oh yeah, Norgorber slays acechek and becomes a tripart deity...
thieving,
poisoning,
assassination.
the mantis armor and saw tooth sabers are the sacred symbols worn by Norgorber's elite. his chosen.
The phrase, epithet really, "NORGORBER'S NUTS!"
might actually imply a connection to insanity and chaos.

As others have pointed out, many of these prophecies might be false.
I think one exercise might be to write your own, ala;
What would I wish for?
Me myself and I...
1. all of the lesser divinities are subsumed by the major deities and off world pantheons are removed-barred from Pathfinder. also, the latter bit is to avoid offending someone who might practice one of those faiths...
2. Tar baphon slays urgathoa and claims her mantle, and claims his nation GEB. No, this does not result in rando-apocalypse undeath plague (so trite!) Urgathoa's gluttony refers to necrophilia and cannibalism and her abhorrent pursuit of such. Various Texts do try to hide these truths, but if you read between the lines (media literacy much?) you will learn the horrid truth. these deceptions are intended to turn away the gullible, curious, and wicked who lack a cause to champion. (see what I did there?)
"Urgathoa's Glutony" proves that the goddess does not "withhold" from what she would want more of, another Eox, another world of the dead.
3. Arazni, Iomedae, Sarenrae, Pharasma... could all be merged into one goddess of fire, truth and justice.
4. Shelynn, (whom I love) is part of a dynamic dichotomy with her brother. they are exact reflections of each other: love and beauty as opposed to loss and ugliness. The eternal question, "is it better to have loved and lost, or never to have loved at all" when it comes to Shelynn and Zon Kuthon is much like how Greek deity myths offered explanations for observations about mortal lives and the world we all live in. Love, beauty not everyone finds these, and yet many will destroy themselves in the pursuit. true Beauty is hard work. Never forget that someone with "the right genes" can be very ugly inside and out. For this reason, I think the two divinities should be worshiped as "one" deity and not two (Despite being two very different divinities).
To borrow a bit from the end of the movie "Saturday Night Fever", I approximate; "There are many ways to kill yourself without actually trying to kill yourself". This is also a parable that the two divinities know well. I'd expand this deities' domains too. Shelynn would be the Sun in a blue sky (spring, Summer), while Zon Kuthon would be the darkness we hide in our hearts, but also the night (Fall, winter).
5. Calistra, is the goddess of melodramatic teen girls in high school. (High school is an outer plane found in the depths of the abyss) we do not need this monster and she is an evil monster; flighty, fickle, and twisted. Lacking logic, rationale and prone to absurd acting out. The Goddess summed up as the original "MEAN GIRLS" movie, needs to go away.
6. Desna, I'd just end her. why? her domains are disparate and not remotely related or a unified theme. You got dreams. you got travel. you got stars. you got luck. This is a soup bound for disaster, like an untrained idiot fighting with a star-knife (how lucky can you be to wield a weapon that will injure or kill you?) I further point to the cosmic caravan deception. "The Night and darkness are not places of evil." I find this so stupid. As stupid as, "Never sleep in the same place twice" it needs a spot of clarification that this goddess is loathe to share. Do you know what a follower of the CC is? after the mugging, a follower of Iomedae.
The module feast of Ravenmoor is further proof that Desna is Absentee at the best of times, and awakening Ghlaunder "accidentally". I'd tell Desna to "GET LOST".
7. The truth? very well, "Abadar" has always been the mask that "Asmodeus" wears. who better to represent the ultimate goals of greed and lust. Abadar is dead to me. Also, the prophecies of Kalistrade echo the tenets of Asmodeus, a chronicle of insane raving turn into contracts woven by Wizards of the shore- yet another name for Asmodeus, the deceiver. That's all I got for now.

QuidEst wrote: Right, but... representing something more accurately doesn't make it better, in the sense of resulting in more people enjoying the game more. In fact, I'd say that generally the closer languages get mechanically to how they work in real life, the less most people will like that system. Players generally don't like their Diplomacy-focused Bard getting a large penalty to all their talk because they're speaking a secondary language; coincidentally having the right language on somebody's list of secondary languages is normally a fun and enjoyable experience where one character is doing the talking and relaying things to the party. The easy approach of just taking the skill feat to know the language is what most folks are looking for.
If somebody wants to have a language be more limited, that can show in the roleplay easily- when my gnoll merchant speaks dwarven, I represent his lower familiarity by sticking exclusively to monosyllabic words. That's a fun little game in itself.
Plus, if you could take Additional Lore for another language after 7th level, it'd start at Master anyway, so you're still instantly mastering a language like Neo.
good points, and rules insight. I can't argue.
(*I am leaving. good luck)

QuidEst wrote: Look, you're posting a bunch of suggestions, but you're doing it in the section for discussing existing rules. If you post it in the section for people discussing existing rules, you will get people showing up to discuss why this wouldn't fit with existing rules.
If you post it in homebrew, you'll get more people coming to discuss its merits as a hypothetical rule.
If you post it as something you want to persuade Paizo to adopt, well... you're going to get everybody's opinion on whether or not Paizo should adopt it.
okay. I did see a Suggestion/request thread in this forum. the request regarding minor sensory cantrips. I thought that was a suggestion thread and shared ideas there.
Then five of my posts where deleted with the claimed justification being; that I was off topic.
So I started my own threads.
Seeing as how I had some comments (more than one topic) on the subject matter of my ideas: both for and against. it seemed like this was the place to post such requests/suggestions.
being told that I am better off pounding sand somewhere else and not having anything to say about my ideas, yeah. that came off as hostility.

CrystalSeas wrote: If you want to roleplay that level of specificity, ask your GM if you can take 'Lore: Linguist'.
There doesn't need to be a whole new subset of rules when what you're asking for can be very simply accommodated using the current ruleset.
In my experience, this isn't an important facet of games I've played in. If you want to deep-dive linguistic skills, do it with Lore.
"Skills" are not a new subset. They're are already a part of the rules,
as is advancing skills. Treating Languages as something you can have varying degrees of proficiency with very much reflects on real life. Language fluency has sometimes been the very cornerstone of stories. Misunderstandings have lead to many disasters.
I can see a Lore: Culture(region) like so "Lore: culture(the shackles)"
Language as a skill, is not anthropology.
I believe that Language as a skill represents is the difficulty of learning, wielding, and ultimately mastering communication with another language.
If my Varisian summoner who speaks Common-Taldane,
takes part in the "Strength of thousands" campaign,
I can use the rules as they are and "poof" I have mastered Common-Mwangi. it feels kind of "push-button" and "automated". Like "NEO" having Martial arts downloaded into his brain.
With the idea of Language as a skill, my proficiency will have to grow through play. I don't just practice. I get to learn from my experiences trying to communicate in a foreign language more effectively.
Mellack wrote: I think languages are basically glossed over in the game to keep the story moving. I don't feel the granularity you are suggesting is needed. I am happy with a language just being known or not. oh.
I still like my idea. I only know English as my primary tongue, I've learned smatterings of other languages, but not enough to say I have the equivalent of "Trained" proficiency.
Consider: Sometimes, a tourist does get lost.
Consider: some adventures can hang on the skill of the speakers involved.
Consider: Sometimes, Mars attacks.
Having that option to improve your proficiency with language is a "thing" and I think it would be beneficial to include it in the Game. The ability roll a skill check to "recall lore" of a specific lore skill (monster category, terrain type, profession) can also be applied to language.
While the society skill and the glean contents skill feat can do many things, language proficiency (the ability to express and communicate) can do many others.
Mellack wrote: You can already learn new languages. The multilingual feat lets you learn two new languages and can be taken multiple times. What if? Multi-lingual, provided a free skill increase: to become "Trained" in a language you do not know, or to increase your proficiency rank with a language that you do know?
eh? hmm, eh?
Mellack wrote: You can already learn new languages. The multilingual feat lets you learn two new languages and can be taken multiple times. Yes, that is true. Good point. Well said. I can't argue when you present facts. I have to agree.
This is a new idea, a request/suggestion for Paizo. I still think it has merit as I have written it. Not everyone has the same proficiency with language, and this idea "Language as a skill" supports this. Further it has the potential to recognize those who strive to master language to communicate, through new skill feats for language.

That is, a cantrip that creates “harmless sensory effects” like sparkles or creating fake rain or making my character’s eyes glow or change color, or making something smell like roses or freshly baked pie
Stuff that would be amazing for role play, and especially for bards wanting to add theatrical effects to their performances, but otherwise doesn’t have mechanical effect
I get pathfinder is very tight with its rules, but I feel there should be things that allow for pure roleplay and flavor.

Fussings wrote: This idea is a simple one: languages as a skill, like a lore how about a "virtuosic Speaker" feat: You get a +1 on language based skill attempts.
For example, someone who has "Mastery" proficiency rank of a language who begins spewing vile curses and insults to demoralize, gets a +1 bonus on the Intimidation check.

This idea is a simple one:
A) Everyone gets 1 primary language at character creation, this language is "Expert" as you have full fluency. Ancestries may include an Ancestral Language at expert. Heritages may include cultural/regional languages as a dialect at "expert".
B) You can purchase additional languages as skills in character creation or through another method (spending skill increases, skill feats or general feats, archetype feats, intelligence ability increases, etc.) to become "Trained" in another language.
C) Language
*Trained- You can speak and read it, but haltingly and with an outsider's accents.
*Expert- You are fully fluent in the language, and rarely struggle to express yourself. Rarely at a loss for words.
*Mastery- You are an eloquent speaker/writer.
*Legendary- People who read your books are immersed in your prose and experience your scenes as if they were there.
this allows languages to be "learned" (*Something missing from Pathfinder rules).
This allows skill feats to apply to language, such as "assurance".
This can allow feats that benefit the lore skill to potentially apply to language use.
This adds an element of realism to the practice of linguistics,
you've all heard of the feat "Acrobatic performance"?
how about the feat, "literary performance"? eh? eh?

QuidEst wrote: I'm not really seeing runes adding anything here. Are you suggesting tagging NPCs with their biggest virtue and/or sin...? I'd suggest this as a solid basis for a Thaumaturge character (with their nine potential implements and the class working well with obscure or even inaccurate connections and patterns), but I don't think that it fills in for alignment. Replying to you.
YES! for example:
Abadar "Good" +diligence rune. (ethics and hard work pays off!)
Shelyn "Good" +Love rune. (exclusive commitment to surrender to one)
Sarenrae "Good" +Mercy rune. (That what is wrong is to be corrected)
Iomedae "Good" +Valor rune. (strive to never fail in your oaths)
Pharasma "Good" +Judgement rune. (to award the good and punish the wicked)
Desna "Good" +voyage rune. (to witness the glory of the creator) (divination school?)
Kurgess "Good" +Charity rune. (to serve others through action)
Iori "Good" +Temperance rune. (regimented practice, disciplined training, wise discernment of the truth)
**********
Rovagug "Evil" +Gluttony rune. (*Eats everything)
Norgorber "Evil" +Greed rune. (*It is not enough to have, one must take)
Milli/acecheck(Spell?) "Evil" +Murder rune (*revolution is far too easy when you just "Silence" the opposition. Argument and debate is not allowed, because facts might hurt fewlings)
Calistria "evil" +Lust rune (Lust, capriciousness, vengeance; short term thinking, hedonism? these acts feel great! All along, on the inside you rot.)
"AzmoDan" "Evil" +Liar (deceit as a path to power)
You may have other ideas, and other opinions regarding the above descriptions. That's beside the point. The purpose is to replace alignment with the Virtue and Sin runes!
This can also work for the Pantheon!
This can also work for the outer planes!
This can also work for the schools of magic!
And yes,
This can also work for the thaumaturge!
********not really on this topic***********
I am well aware that there are currently only "Seven deadly sins" and
"Seven holy virtues". I am well aware that the rune lords didn't appreciate divination nor collective study of all arcane magic as a whole (universal).
twenty one aeon stones? oops, I have miscounted.
The pathfinder 2e runes (sins and virtues)
The seven sins are:
Envy, Lust, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, Pride, Wrath
The seven virtues are:
Love, charity, zeal, generosity, temperance, humility, kindness
Now, we can create two more sin runes and two more virtue runes.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_virtues
The lists offered here sometimes contain one or the other addition that the other lists do not include (though dictionary meanings may overlap) the primary effort is to find a single word which offers a unique definition of something that is good or something that is evil and apply it!
Dear Paizo,
Pathfinder is YOUR brand. It is Your I.P. You have had an alternative to the alignment system all along;
The NINE virtue *RUNES*
The NINE sin *RUNES*
The NINE schools of magic
The NINE outer planes
Nine Avistani Deifics of good
Nine Avistani Deifics of evil
The 18 aeon stones
how to write a character's morals and world view:
_Morality: "Good" +"virtue" rune.
Ike Gunterhoff
Human, Male, 19, 6ft 2in, 200 lbs, muscled build, hair: black, eyes: blue.
Faith: "The ladies" a Pantheon of the good goddesses (Desna, Iomedae, Pharasma, Sarenrae, Shelyn)
_Morality: "Evil" +"SIN" rune.
Zeritor Ruebringer
ORC, Male, 39, 7ft 8in, 500 lbs, Heavily muscled, Hair: Clay grey, Eyes: glowing red.
Faith: Tar'Baphon - for how else does one return from death as an immortal?
Bring runes to the FOREFRONT, incorporate them into game design, game accessories, and more!
Dear Paizo, a suggestion.
In regards to Ability scores.
Please include illustrations of:
Increasingly developed Different physiques,
doing increasingly difficult tasks,
for each of the Attributes.
Why?
because I need "LANGUAGE" to tell a story.
the numbers +1, +2, +3, +4, etc are MEANINGLESS.
I need a vocabulary with definitions that are rooted in REALITY.
I need to communicate to my players how their attributes affect their ability to interact with the game world.
a meaningless +1, +2, +3, etc... will not do!
Reposting this because my SUGGESTION vanished:
Dear Paizo.
in regards to alignment, please consider using your "RUNES" which have been a part of the Pathfinder game since the very beginning. example:
"Good" +"Virtue" rune, or "Evil" +"Sin" rune.
let's tweak things a tad: there are nine Avistani deities of good, There are nine Avistani deities of evil, there are nine schools of magic (include divination and universal), there might be 18 different aeon stones which could bear a rune for a virtue or a sin, you could have a "major arcana" suit of cards for the Harrow deck featuring one deity each, one rune (a virtue or a sin), and an aeon stone shape/color.
Pathfinder Virtue runes / sin runes, "rune stones"
as in, "the ancient witch cast forth the pouch, spilling the runes"
Hey. This could also be a set of Pathfinder "Rune" charm bracelets, rune necklaces, and rune rings. This idea of a Paizo alternative to an alignment based on 9 Virtue runes and 9 Sin runes could also be linked to Aeon stones?
For pathfinder society, Rune favored wayfinders, and Awarded runes for player's accomplishments!
more ideas!
oh!
A "major arcana" of 18 "Rune" (A morality +deity +school of magic) harrow cards...
I can readily see "Desna" tired to "Good"-"exploration rune" aka Divination school, and thus foresee a Desna Card for the future Harrow deck...
Fussings wrote: Regarding the idea of "rune morality",
