Appearance Fortis is a tall, thick man who's skin has such a dark but pale tone you would think he was made of stone. His face is long, with a prominent nose that has ridges so sharp that it looks like it was chiseled that way. His strength is nearly unrivaled among most men, and Fortis is proud of that. Not proud of the fact that he's better than anyone, but proud of the fact that his strength makes such a big difference in his community. Fortis is simple man, and doesn't care much to impress anyone with his dress. He generally wears simple clothes that he has sewn and patched for him when broken. While he has the resources to buy new stuff, he finds that to be wasteful. All though it's not hard to tell his is not quite human, the village has accepted him with open arms, and has no fear of his intimidating figure. Infact, they find his ability to lift, move, and build things to be quite useful.

Personality Fortis is very aware of his physical ability, but extremely humble. He doesn't boast, but he doesn't hide the fact that he is enormously strong. By trade, he is a fisherman, and a very good one at that. His assistant (whom he calls his "First Mate") is a young orphan named Samuel. While in town, Fortis often noticed Samuel getting trampled in the market place while begging for food. Determined to not let this boy fall into a life of thievery, he offered him a place to stay, food to eat, and enough coin to save up if he would serve as Fortis' assistant. Samuel quickly agreed to do so, and has been with him now for 2 years. Fortis does not make friends very quickly. It generally takes him a long time to truly trust anyone, and purposely doesn't open up too quickly to anybody. He prefers to show his character through hard work and determination. Fortis makes up for his lack of social skills through his loyalty, bravery, and protective nature which kicks in when anybody is in need.

Background Fortis doesn't know much about his childhood. At 7 years old, He was washed up on the shore of a small coastal village named Craven. He can only remember the fact that he was on a boat filled with giant men (his ancestors), and a strong storm took them by surprise. Confused by the circumstances, he was too afraid to let go of the beam he was grasping. That's it. Now twenty some years later, he has been living in Craven, considering that it could be possible his people revisit this area.

Hook Fortis is having a hard time sleeping. The torn up memories that persist in his mind about his past make him sad, and drive him to want to know more about his past. One day, while at market, he was approached by a Dwarf. Unsure of the Dwarf's awkward demeanor, he offered him some of his freshly caught fish. After a few moments and some scattered stutters, the Dwarf began to ask Fortis a bunch of questions about himself. He then revealed that long ago he encountered a whole group of men like him near the Five Kings Mountains, who were travelling in search of Torag. He remembered something about them trying to get to some kind of earthen plane. Without much more to say, the Dwarf left as awkwardly as he came.

Since that time, Fortis has tried to convince himself that seeking to travel there would be a bad idea, but this desire has just grown stronger and stronger.
