Before Floyd could respond to Aiden, Agatha came out of the shadows and startled the group with Yalm revealing himself shortly thereafter. He felt that he agreed with Aiden's little outburst, but didn't bother saying anything before Yalm explained that there was a place for them to stay nearby.

Agatha's hovel had an amazing smell from the cooking and Floyd spoke up. "That smells great actually. What is in it?" As he spoke he took a seat on one of the cushions and let himself relax for the first time since arriving in the new world.

Floyd was quickly getting tired of being quiet and contemplative. This was a new world to him. He should be excited and energetic not so pensive and withdrawn. He decided to do something to pass the time after listening to Aiden's interesting story.

Perform: Act - 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 This shall be an enjoyable performance worthy of your money had he been seeking it, lol.

He stood up quickly, and paced for a moment as he tried to remember a good monologue for the moment. After a few seconds he stopped suddenly and looked at the group. "I've got it. I'll perform a comic monologue for you all to help pass the time as we wait for Yalm's return.

Full of energy and well placed breaks of speech and inflection he put on a good performance of a monologue from The Knights for the party.

Monologue:

The story is worth hearing. Listen! From here I rushed straight to the Senate, right in the track of this man; he was already letting loose the storm, unchaining the lightning, crushing the Knights beneath huge mountains of calumnies heaped together and having all the air of truth; he called you conspirators and his lies caught root like weeds in every mind; dark were the looks on every side and brows were knitted. When I saw that the Senate listened to him favourably and was being tricked by his imposture I said to myself, "Come, gods of rascals and braggarts, gods of all fools, toad-eaters and braggarts and thou, market-place, where I was bred from my earliest days, give me unbridled audacity, an untiring chatter and a shameless voice." No sooner had I ended this prayer than a lewd man broke wind on my right. "Hah! 'tis a good omen," said I, and prostrated myself; then I burst open the door by a vigorous push with my back, and, opening my mouth to the utmost, shouted, "Senators, I wanted you to be the first to hear the good news; since the War broke out, I have never seen anchovies at a lower price!" All faces brightened at once and I was voted a chaplet for my good tidings; and I added, "With a couple of words I will reveal to you, how you can have quantities of anchovies for an obol; 'tis to seize on all the dishes the merchants have." With mouths gaping with admiration, they applauded me. However, the Paphlagonian winded the matter and, well knowing the sort of language which pleases the Senate best, said, "Friends, I am resolved to offer one hundred oxen to the goddess in recognition of this happy event."

The Senate at once veered to his side. So when I saw myself defeated by this ox filth, I outbade the fellow, crying, "Two hundred!" And beyond this I moved, that a vow be made to Diana of a thousand goats if the next day anchovies should only be worth an obol a hundred. And the Senate looked towards me again. The other, stunned with the blow, grew delirious in his speech, and at last the Prytanes and the guards dragged him out. The Senators then stood talking noisily about the anchovies. Cleon, however, begged them to listen to the Lacedæmonian envoy, who had come to make proposals of peace; but all with one accord, cried, "'Tis certainly not the moment to think of peace now! If anchovies are so cheap, what need have we of peace? Let the war take its course!" And with loud shouts they demanded that the Prytanes should close the sitting and then leapt over the rails in all directions. As for me, I slipped away to buy all the coriander seed and leeks there were on the market and gave it to them gratis as seasoning for their anchovies. 'Twas marvellous! They loaded me with praises and caresses; thus I conquered the Senate with an obol's worth of leeks, and here I am.

I am sorry about the absence; I made a post about it in the discussion thread

I have to apologize about being absent the last three days. I am in the military and every now and then I get called into situations that keep me away from posting easily (if at all) for a couple days at a time. That being said I will do my best to let you all know ahead of time if I have enough warning and I am fairly certain that it won't happen often enough to become a real issue.

Floyd accepts a bar quietly and starts to eat it as he thinks for a moment. "Thank you, Jen. I don't have any food in my bag. In fact I don't think I have anything useful in this situation."

"Speaking of money, Yalm, what is used in this world for money? I would guess that our money is worthless here. Floyd had read enough fantasy novels to know the overall basics in worlds like this, or so he thought anyway. He was still trying to use whatever information he could to adapt to this new realm.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

We sure aren't in Kansas anymore, Floyd thought with a half smile showing his excitement and his anxiety. Looking around where they landed, he noticed that there was an odd shape to the ashes on the ground, and as he gathered more ideas about what it could have been he decided not to ask.

"Well I won't be able to complain about things being mundane anymore." Floyd spoke more to himself than to anyone else in the group as he looked around taking in the sights. Kellmanor had an entirely different feel than the world he was used to. The scenery was dominated by the natural world and not dominated by human hands.

Two day journey... Floyd thought with a sigh as he followed the wizard and the rest of the group. He would love to have a car right about now.

Sorry about not posting yesterday. RL issues came up, but I am here today.

"Well that sounds like a story straight from an old fantasy novel. It does seem like it would be interesting to visit this place," Floyd said slowly, again taking the time to digest everything that had just been said. "You can count me in. I could use a little adventure.

"One thing doesn't make sense though. If these sorcerers get their power through their bloodline, how are we supposed to gain these same powers? I'm pretty sure that there is no magical or mystical lineage in my family tree and I have definitely not shown any hint of extraordinary powers."

"It's pretty easy to take this more seriously after being transported a block away into my home in no time at all. Something different is going on here. And if they was a reality TV show, it would be the worst plot line for a show ever. Who would watch this?" Floyd explained his reasoning to Aiden quickly and very straightforward. He wanted Yalm to be able explain more of this situation so he could decide whether or not to dismiss his case.

Read it on my mind... Well that is as simple as the answer could have gotten I guess. What is threatening your world and how exactly are we supposed to save it? Floyd was slowly wrapping his mind around all of this extraordinary stuff that seemed so normal for Yalm.

Can you give us any more information about us being the chosen ones? What were we chosen to do, more specifically than just saving your world? I could ask questions all day, but I'll keep them short for now since you will probably just need to show us in the end.

A confused Floyd looked at Jen for a moment, then down at the carpet as he replayed the last minute in his mind. We were standing outside with the wizard, learning that he is Yalm, him showing us a "trick", knowing my name, and talking about other "powers", he thought slowly.

"You knew my name, Yalm... How?" Of course of all the things that had just happened THAT was the one thing he was focused on now. A part of him wanted to just laugh at the obsurdity of that.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 (seriously.... the exact same roll as last time.... wtf)

Floyd took a seat in a chair on the opposite side of the room as the wizard. I'm not even going to begin to imagine how the crap we ended up here at home like that. Whatever just happened was beyond what Floyd's rational mind could perceive at the moment and that confusion was evident in his voice despite the fact that he was keeping himself relatively calm.

In other news, this is the first time welcoming ladies into my home. Welcome; make yourselves at comfortable. He let himself relax into the chair and start to think about what questions he wanted to ask.

I doubt we will be in the living room for very long, so make up whatever furniture you want to sit on/interact with

Floyd had followed the group silently to the meeting place wondering what all of this really meant. The wizard hat really had his attention for some weird reason. This whole episode seemed a little too weird to be anything that the rest of the team was suggesting. TV? Yeah right... This would be the worst plot of any TV show that I can think of.

Why did we have to meet out here if you needed a private and comfortable place? Floyd decided that he would ask a sensible question. I just live a block from here, we can go there to talk. My parents both work and won't be home for a little while longer.

Just so you know Adina, we are waiting for your post.

lol not a problem. And I think this is going to be a long campaign... The RNG on this site does not like me to say the least. After posting that first roll, I tested a few other rolls to see what kind of results I would get and they were under half of whatever sided die I used, lmao.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

"I'm more interested in the message on the plane. Granted, whenever someone caveats their message with don't be afraid there usually is some kind of risk or danger involved; however, I'm in the strange mood to follow the white rabbit today." As Floyd finished his statement, he stood up from the table wondering what the group consensus would be.

Well, well. Aiden certainly seems to have gotten comfortable with Adina, Floyd thought lightheartedly.

"Jen, Adina, what do you think about all of this?" There was an obvious excitement to his voice that he didn't bother to mask as he watched the two ladies for any hint of their response.

At least for me that was a bad link.

This one should work

Based on the skill we can't have (I've got a few of them) I'll need to adjust but that shouldn't take much effort. That said, I am ready to start whenever the rest of the group is. So far I don't have much going on today and should have little problem reaching the daily post limit, lol.

My only real question right now is will finding trainers/books for some classes/feats be harder to find than others, and if so, how will you determine that?

Let me put this bit of information out ahead of time. Normally on Fridays I can't post as often due to other obligations in the evening. I will post when and where I can but I might just drop out for a while as you all have seen the last few hours.

On the other side of that note, if you are ready to start the actual rp tonight I am all for it. I might be up for the next 2ish hours and can clear what is left of my schedule if I know we are starting.

Alright then I'll let one of the two with food notice you first. Or I'll acknowledge you in my next post if they don't. And no, sorry about that we are sitting at the table. I guess we haven't been making that clear enough in our last few posts.

"Sure, I wouldn't mind teaching you some Korean sometime. And I think therefore I am; so I taste therefore it is should be enough of an arguement to work for the milkshake. Even if the shake is only a figment of my imagination, as long as my mind believes it is a part of my reality then it is real for me. We should try bending spoons next, Floyd joked lightly while making a subtle reference to the Matrix. He was enjoying himself just by interacting with this small group without even doing much of anything. Normally his mind or his body would need to be fully engaged in some sort of activity to really find any enjoyment.

"Well now that I've made a decent second impression, I think it is my turn to ask what you think about me." His voice and manner portrayed the statement as a joke, but he had the feeling from Adina that she would probably answer the question anyway. He kept his eyes and ears on the look out for any additional subtle clues he could pick up about either of them.

She at least knows a little bit about G.I. Joe and Cobra, and he seems to have been to quite a few places. Floyd was slightly jealous of Aiden's worldly experience; he hadn't been more than 4 hours away from this city in any direction.

OOC:

Jen, were you trying to put the airplane back next to the sandwiches with our group or with a group at a bar somewhere? We are currently sitting at a table in the cafe so I wasn't fully sure.

"Somehow I figured that you would be an optimist at heart. That is always an attractive quality in a person, Miss Adina." His complement was presented simply and in a warm manner. Floyd figured that attempting any actual flirting would put the lady in a bad position between two potential courters, especially when he hadn't dropped the more formal references before the names yet.

"Personally, I am more pragmatic. If I am in the process of filling the cup, it is half-full. If I am in the process of emptying the cup, it is half-empty. If it is just sitting there at half, then it is just half a glass. Such a simple approach gives me more time to focus on other things in life, not that I really use much of that time," he finished with a hearty laugh. Floyd would be the first person to admit that he always has been and probably always will really lazy. In some ways that is a good thing; his laziness always drives him to look for the simplest solution to problems that take effort, when appropriate of course.

"The same could be said of artists. Few artists work for themselves. The work only shines when its sent out to be enjoyed by an audience. This is especially true of acting.

OOC:

The obsessive-compulsive refreshing is taking its hold. Even when I can't make a post at the time I still find myself refreshing every 10-20 minutes to see any new posts lmao.
@Shanosuke: Give us Jen! The three-way dynamic that team 1 has so far would only be strained in the future with another male in the group in my prediction. I can already see Floyd and Aiden becoming rivals as the story progresses and people start becoming closer. But then again I am biased and knowing how personable Floyd is, another balancing female role will probably be necessary.

"I understand enough French to know that you asked me if I understand French. However that is about as far as it goes for me with that language. I do know Korean and German at least somewhat." Floyd sat back in his chair and took a few more sips of his milkshake. Recognizing that he was about half way through the drink and wondered briefly about the underlying philosophy that his two acquaintances had.

"On a random side note, I am about half way finished with this milkshake; is the cup half empty or half full?" Anyone who got to know Floyd quickly found out that he liked to act, or at least speak, on his random impulses fairly often. He did know when it would be inappropriate, but the rest of the time it is hard to know what to expect from him.

"Alright, like I was saying, you start with a simple hot dog fold to the paper." He sat down and started back into explaining the folding process with a very matter-of-fact kind of tone to his voice, but under that there was a genuine sort of energy or gladness at getting to not only do something he was good at but explain how it is that he did it. Floyd didn't fully understand why he felt that way and doubted anyone else would really know either.

The paper was folded in half length-wise in front of Floyd already and he opened it, flipped it over, and then refolded it in the other direction, making sure to press the crease with his nail. "Most of the folds that are made for this plane are done both ways so that the paper can do a collapsing fold later on; I do this for ease, but it doesn't have to be done if you are in a hurry." He opened it back up and then did another standard fold: taking the top two corners and folding them down to line up with the center crease. Again he undid those folds, flipped the paper over and folded them again the opposite direction.

He left the flaps down this time and brought the top corner of the paper down to the intersection of the horizontal line formed by the corners being folded in and the center crease. Floyd again made sure to press the crease down firmly with his nail, keeping all of the edges as straight as he could. Opening the paper all the way back to its original form, he looked up at the two watching him and said, "Here is the first tricky collapsing fold."

Floyd then started to fold down the two top flaps, and then lifted up the top corner which opened the entire section into a sort of cubic shape missing the top and side facing him. He pressed in the far side of the cube to lay flat on the paper and folded the rest of it in on top of that side, giving the plane a flat nose. He then folded that entire top section of the plane over across the horizontal line and pressed the crease down well with his nails again.

"Now we take the top corners and fold them down to the intersection of the vertical and horizontal lines, like so." He made the fold from one side and then again for the opposite side, and then flipped the paper over and made the same fold the other way on those same creases preparing for another collapsing fold. After setting up the fold for the collapse, he opened the paper back up by one step, and then proceeded to make the sides collapse under that top flap as he returned it to its folded position carefully re-creasing in the necessary areas.

Now that all of the necessary folds were finished to make the overall body of the plane, Floyd folded the paper back in half across the hot dog crease he made in the beginning with all of the extra folds he had done ended up on the outside. "And now for the wings as the final step." He folded simple wings for the paper airplane much like for any other plane at that step, and then left the completed airplane sitting in the middle of the table.

"Voilà, ze cobra, t'is masterpiece, she is finished," he added with a thick fake French accent for some humor to break the monotony of the airplane instruction. He looked at Aiden and Adina both wondering how they would react to all of that. Even while explaining things along the way, his hands were so used to folding that kind of plane that he did it quickly and masterfully. "Feel free to send her on her first flight," he added kindly, dropping the accent, to whichever one of them wanted to break the rules of society and toss a paper airplane in public.

OOC:

I lol'ed at the headbutting rams comment.
Finally my work is finished! Man that was a long post about something so simple as folding a paper airplane. Again if you need a visual explanation of the plane, go here: Cobra Plane
@Shanosuke: Are you planning on balancing the genders among the selected students? Just wondering, since having that male-female dynamic almost always makes a story more interesting.

Floyd had just finished the first fold of the plane with Aiden returned with the food and drinks. "Pardon me Miss Adina. Hello Mr. Aiden, I am Floyd Tanner. I was just beginning to teach the young lady here how to fold the cobra paper airplane." Floyd kept up the gentlemanly air about him. He decided when he came over to the table that he would make a good second impression on both of them.

He stood and held out his hand to Aiden as a gesture of friendship and courtesy. Looking him in the eyes, he added with an honest smile, "It is nice to finally meet you. I have seen you around the school quite a bit but never actually talked to you for one reason or another."

Today is going to be interesting. There is a word I haven't used in a while.

OOC:

Sorry about taking so long to get back to the post. I was watching V for Vendetta with the wife and even though I've seen it before I got WAY too into it to continue typing, lmao. Anyway, the airplane folding will have to wait until my next post or shortly thereafter, and I know you are all dying to see it. XP

Just to let you know I had Floyd sit in the chair on the opposite side of where you were sitting earlier. If you want to play it to still have Floyd move then I can work it that way as well. Just thought you might have missed me putting the location in the post.

Floyd always tried to pay attention to the subtle things when he could. The way she returns a similar kind of energy and feeling to Aiden's statements and questions and the slight blush that the bow and introduction caused were just those kinds of things. Ha, caught her at least slightly there with the bow.

"Yep, I act in the school plays. I think I've been in every one these past four years." As he was speaking he took the seat opposite of where Aiden had been earlier and took another drink from his milkshake before grabbing the sheet of paper. He was slightly amused that the paper airplane would actually get him invited to the table and was more than happy to show her how to make one for herself.

"This kind of airplane is a little more complicated than a standard one, but it works very well and can be folded with ease once you get the hang of it. It starts with a hot dog fold for the baseline." His voice was naturally deep, and depending on his mood, it had a strangely calming effect and could be considered his most attractive feature.

OOC:
I'll take the time to actually rp through the folding of the plane in the next post. Gonna go eat for now. Teaching a paper airplane fold in an rp... definitely a first, lol.

Floyd was slightly disappointed that the only obvious notice of his plane was by the two at the table. He figured that someone would see this random paper airplane flying across a bookstore. It couldn't be that common, he hoped. At least he did get a friendly wave from Adina, who at this point seemed to be impossible to bewilder. He went back to drinking the strawberry milkshake feeling like his only chance at motivating himself had flown out the window. Unfortunately, it had been sitting there long enough that it was considerably less thick than it used to be, not that it ruins the flavor just messes with the texture; Floyd oddly enough values texture as much, if not more than, flavor.

Things seemed to move on as normal during the next minute or so, and just before his brain shut off the conversations going on in the store, he heard Adina suggest that they invite him over. At first, he wasn't sure that he heard correctly. After Aiden agreed to it, Floyd simply shrugged his shoulders, grabbed the last blank sheet of paper from the text book, and switched to the other table bringing his drink along for the adventure.

I guess I'm not so hot this first impression thing either. At least Aiden set the bar low, he thought with a smile before introducing himself. His parents raised - or rather trained would be a better word in this case - a chivalrous young man; Floyd wouldn't feel right without properly introducing himself to a fair maiden. He set the paper and drink down on the table, and then bowed like the gentleman he was supposed to be.

"My name is Floyd, Floyd Tanner, Ms. Adina. Friendly pilot, smart slacker, and acting extraordinaire, at your service." His voice was calm and warm in his sincerity and his humor. At least one good thing came from performing in plays: he wasn't afraid to talk to or in front of people, including ladies his own age. He stood up from the bow and held out his hand for a nice handshake. "It's nice to meet you."

OOC:
Thanks for dropping the quoting deal. I appreciate that!

Random side question for the DM: when we are away in the new world, will time be moving at the same pace as it is in this world? Will it act like a Narnia-esque deal where we return back to this world at this same time period reversing any physical aging that may or may not happen? Or will time itself just proceed for both worlds but at different rates?

Floyd started laughing to himself quietly as he overheard the conversation take the unexpected route. Honestly, what guy asks a question like that after making that kind of first impression? Supposedly instigating a conflict with some jocks and then obviously lying to some officers to scare them away. He wasn’t trying to eavesdrop but it wasn’t hard to overhear things in this fairly quiet place especially when they are just a table away. Besides, what is the point of doing nothing if you can’t enjoy the day people-watching?

Speaking of people that are watched, head cheerleader Ashley walked into the store to start working. Floyd definitely considered her to be attractive, but he didn’t know her well enough to be attracted to her; in fact, he hadn’t bothered to pay enough attention to her to learn anything beyond the standard gossip regarding her: past boyfriend(s), current interests, general personality, etc.

As Floyd finished his paper airplane, using the cobra fold for a simple straight flier, he heard the next stage of this conversation and almost had to stifle his laughter. Wow, she actually is responding positively to Aiden’s question. Now THAT is something new. And she seemed to actually answer honestly. He would continue to listen while he figured out the best place to aim his airplane.

He figured it would be best to interrupt the humorous conversation to see their reactions by sending the plane right past them and let it land where it landed. He turned his body to face them a little, leaned back in the chair, and launched the plane at an angle slightly above level so it would level out right as it passed the table with Aiden and Adina, if he heard her name correctly. ”Heads up,” he called out quietly with a smile in his voice, just loud enough for the two at the table to hear and probably no one else.

OOC:
About the cobra paper airplane look here: http://www.paperairplanes.co.uk/schultz.php#instructions

This may just be my pet-peeve but could you guys cut back on quoting the post you are playing off of? It is unnecessary and actually makes it more difficult to read the actual post. It looks nicer to actually show more of your character's interpretation of the post instead of having the quote there.

On another note, I'm liking the interaction so far between everyone. This is going to be fun.

What is the point of grounding someone if you give them so much freedom like this? Floyd wondered quietly as he was sitting in the café section of Monrial Café and staring out the window absentmindedly. His parents allowed him to stay out after school as long as he was doing something worthwhile like studying or practicing for one of his sports or plays. In Floyd's defense he did have his history textbook out on the table next to his strawberry shake.

Turning away from the window he saw a few people he recognized from school like Trenton and Aiden, people whom he saw frequently enough to remember their names; he also saw a few that he didn't recognize - that stood out from the small crowd in the café at least. Across the room one of those in the second group of people made a small outburst that seemed to reveal some deep frustration before calming back down when she ran into another unfamiliar gentleman. Closer in front of Floyd was another younger lady who seemed to be drawing something before Aiden came over to talk to her.

Floyd chuckled to himself at the passing idea that just crossed his mind. I should move in for the block just to see his reaction. He might have decided to do just that if he knew Aiden a bit better, but another part of him said that probably wouldn't be the best idea right now.

And so there sat the delinquent scanning the room briefly between gazing out the window. He just couldn't bring himself to do much of anything today, let alone study or go out of his way to be sociable. He did pull out a blank piece of paper from his textbook with a sigh and randomly started to fold it into an airplane.

Elemental Justification:

Water: There is a kind of cool serenity and depth to Floyd. He is normally calm and naturally goes with the path of least resistance, but he can just as easily become a near unstoppable force whenever he has some motivation driving him. He doesn't quite realize his potential in this aspect since it shows itself in small pieces when he is focused.
Air: Underneath his calm surface lies an anxious energy that isn't satisfied with the status quo. It constantly tugs at Floyd to search for something different. It is the source of his unexpected approaches to life and a source of quiet self-doubt about his future.

RP:

The argument ended the same as the previous ones. Floyd's parents questioned him, genuinely disappointed and sincerely trying to find out what can be done or needs to change, and Floyd gave little to no response that had any significance.

"Grounded... again," he said to himself quietly, staring at the ceiling. His bed felt strangely uncomfortable as he was lying on it motionless and wide awake. Tomorrow would be another day as a senior in Pathfinder Center High. Another day on the same track of life.

He had already been accepted into three colleges - no big name ones of course - and had zero desire to really continue with high school let alone deal with institutes of higher education. His only motivation for even bothering with college was for there to be something new in his life. New was a word that didn't come up often enough for Floyd.

OoC:
As bad as this might sound, hopefully no other applications are put forward because I would really like a chance to play in this one and the DM already has so many good ones to choose between. XD
