Dante moves to Tandri's side to give the man a close-up view of his 'welcoming smile' when he wakes.

In the meantime, Floare looks through the hag's possession, tossing the salted pork aside in disgust. She chuckles at the wand before lodging it through her hair and over one ear.

"And we're still waiting for a public apology," the witch adds to Sariana's declaration.

With Valerie protected, Flore turns her magic upon the hag.

Floare is reasonably sure that Valerie can handle the mislead Fredero, but just to be sure that her mistresses general survives the encounter, Floare reaches out with a tendril of magical energy to sheath the warrior with a magical layer of protection.

Flore's blood goes colder than her new normal at the appearance of a hidden hag. Suppressing the fear and horrid memories that are bubbling to the surface, she calms herself and gestures with a twisting clawed hand. At her gesture twisting vines spring from the ground attempting to ensnare the vile woman.

Even with all her conflicting feelings, the witch doesn't assume for a single moment that Fredero won't try to take advantage of the situation, and so a small portion of her attention remains on the prideful paladin.

"And before she even decides that," Floare adds, "There is the matter of the 'formal apology'." She eyes Fredero accusingly. "One could very easily get the impression that there was never any intent for such and this was simply all a ruse."

She holds out a hand and in her revealed palm a curl of flames appears.

"That would not work out well for you."

Floare steps forward, her hand on Dante's shoulder in an attempt to soothe his raised hackles. A low growl issues from his chest. The witch, on the other hand, seems entirely calm. Although, her smile seems to show more teeth than it normally does and her fangs are quite prominent.

"I would think," she declares without glancing at her mistress who still hovers over the archway into the shrine, "That since your accusation was quite public, your 'formal apology' should be so as well. Wouldn't that seem more appropriate?"

Floare raises her hand partially, considering suggesting that Valerie offer quarter, but then puts it back down when the woman's blade strikes out in finishing blows.

Floare grimaces as both combatants strike telling blows. Matching energy with her familiar, her instinct is the engage the man with all the magic at her disposal, but she restrains herself.

Valerie shows no such restraint, hammering against her foe with a purpose.

There's a low growl from Dante's chest which causes Floare to run a soothing hand across his shoulders.

"Remain calm, my good boy," she whispers. "As much as I would like to help, Lady Valerie must face this challenge with us only as observers."

That's stupid, Mom.

"I won't argue, but this is how such things are done."

If he cheats, I'll bite his face off.

Flore steps forward and lifting herself up on her tiptoes, places a chaste kiss on the woman's cheek. "You have the blessings of us all, My Lady," she says before stepping back to stand by her familiar.

Floare hides a smile and waits as her mistress takes her place overseeing the encounter. Once the woman is in position, the witch steps forward with Dante at her hip.

"Presenting Nightsong's premier general and favored of its ruler Mistress Sariana Nightsong; Lady Valerie!" She makes a sweeping gesture towards the blonde woman, indicating that she should step forward.

Floare then steps back to stand with Tandri.

Flore nods in agreement with Deregar's suggestion. Slipping a comforting arm around Tandri's shoulders, she leans in closer.

"Souls in a village working to the benefit of our Mistress are much more valuable than souls sitting on a shelf, no matter how pretty or intriguing they are," she whispers.

Spending a little more time concentrating on her aim and less on how well her mistress looks when she's got a full 'monster of destruction' thing going on, Floare's magical fire finally connects.

For a brief instant Flore feels the magical burn of Vordakai's spell through her linked connection to Sariana. A decision is made in an eyeblink; Her mistress is tough enough to take it so she doesn't pull on the magical thread.

The moment taken to decide, though, causes her magical fire to miss the undead spellcaster by a wide margin.

A stabbing fork of lightning is Floare's next attempt to discomfit the lich.

Even though she knows that there's no rational reason for such a thing, Floare still feels the tension as Sariana pushes back against the controlling magic Vordakai uses in an attempt to snare her mistress.

She calms herself and begins with what will most likely be the least effective of her spells, summoning a cascade of vines that endeavors to constrict the lich.

"Quite right." Sariana says, looking Deregar's new form up and down with approval. "Now rushing in didn't help us. The liches mind-control is dangerous for all of us, especially you Sweetling. Could you stay around the corner and just peek around to throw a spell and retreat again? Or can either of you counter those magics?"

"I can try," Flore replies, leaning in to the touch.

Right before combat, she'll cast haste on Sariana and mantle of the unwavering heart on herself.

Dante accompanies Deregar as he makes his way out. Floare throws her arm around Tandri's shoulder and leads her out as well.

Giving up on wrangling the slippery tiefling, Floare sends another gout of flame at the lich.

"Sari! This isn't working! We need to fall back!" she calls out. "Grab Tandri!"

The witch then moves to Deregar and with Dante's help begins to pull him back towards the entrance.

Floare throws Sariana a glare before moving to the magically influenced tiefling.

"Now that's about enough of that," she declares before wrapping her arms around Tandri. But as she's so amply demonstrated in more positive ... encounters ... of a similar nature, the cleric won't be restrained so easily.

Floare circles around to avoid catching her mistress in the blast and then sends a searing bolt of lightning at the undead cyclops.

Her Lady had declared no diplomacy, but Floare felt that before they put this pretender in his place, he at least know who he was being defeated by.

"Their lives may be short and insignificant, but they belong to the Lady Nightsong - ruler of these lands," Floare announces, stepping forward and gesturing to her Lady. The fur on Dante's back bristles at her side.

"If you were to bend the knee, I'm sure she would find a place for you here, but you and I both know that will never happen. Your race had its time and that time has long gone. The world has moved past you and you have no place here."

The elves have a name for places that are neither here nor there, Flower Child; L'ombre entre les feuilles - The Shadow Between Leaves. Pretentious bastards, elves are. Tasty, but pretentious. And those are places you don't want to be.

"We don't want to be here," Floare says with a frown. She reaches down to place her hand over the tail wrapped around her arm. "L'ombre entre les feuilles - places like this - are dangerous. We need to do this quickly."

She takes the lead across the room to the door.

Floare moves around the display, examining closely, but touching nothing. Dante follows at her thigh, his head down, sniffing at the ground. Like Sariana, she doesn't seem incredibly repulsed by the gruesome arrangment.

"I'm not sure," she says. "I would guess that it was done by a single individual, but other than that it's hard to say."

Any knowledge skills appropriate?

Floare, likewise, takes the ring and slips it on. "Just in case," she echoes Deregar's words with a smile. "Before we continue on, let me prepare us further."

What follows is a minute-long ritual, at the end of which, everyone is covered in slithering plant roots.

"Now that will only last ten minutes so let's move along while we're protected."

Cast entwined roots.
Everyone in the group (including Tyr) gains resistance 5 vs bludgeoning and piercing attacks.

At the same time, Floare is attempting to fry those same essences into ity-bity little crispy chunks.

With her mistress engaged and properly enchanted, Floare focuses on inflicting damage on the undead spellcaster, herself.

If Trandri determines the effect is magical, Floare will attempt to dispel it ...

"Why won't this thing just die!" Floare snaps as she sends more fire to assist her mistress.

About to say something, Floare closes her mouth as Deregar speaks up for her Lady. She glances at the summoner with a raised eyebrow before turning back to see how the abomination reacts to his attempt at diplomacy.

When the thing shows even more aggression, she takes a step back and begins casting. She gives a nod to Sariana as the vampire queen feels the familiar sensation of quickened magic flood through her.

Floare wakes indeed, her arms slipping around Tandri's neck and pulling her in tight to draw the kiss out. Quite a few breathless moments later (literaly) and she finally releases the tiefling.

"I have no wish to face magic like that again, but the after care is lovely," she says to Tandri with a smile as she licks her blood-flecked lips. After another quick taste, she stumbles to her feet. "So something more than just lighting the lamps, I guess."

Floare takes but a moment to examine the pottery a little closer, but as her mistress moves on, she follows.

As she rises again, she gestures towards the horse-headed fiend and vines spring up from around it, slithering and grasping.

Taking a moment to trace her finger over one of the carved runes, Floare shrugs, unable to refute or confirm Deregar's assessment of the expended magic.

"So ... someone ... stole a jade bracelet from the cache of valuables here and then the undead guardians were sent out to retrieve it?" Floare conjectures. As she ponders the possible scenarios, she picks up the bracelet that's still here for a moment before dropping it back onto the small pile of coins.

"Farther in?" she questions, indicating the newly opened passage.

Floare has also enjoyed some of her mistresses attention, but she has enjoyed even more the chance for Tandri to revel in being the focus of Lady Nightsong's hungers. The time has long passed for the tiefling to see that she's not a secondary part of their relationship and has a place and priority all her own.

When confronted by the stairs and the skeletal guardians, the witch considers for a bit before suggesting that they bypass the hulking undead by the convenience of flight.

But Mom, I don't want to fly.

"Just close your eyes, my brave boy, and it will be over in a matter of moments."

But I'll still be ... ahhhh!

"See? You're on the ground again already. There's no need for such a display."

Taking Deregar's arm in her own, Floare leads the conversation - both subjectively and directionally - away from the passionate duo.
